Adobe Reader 11.09 unstable on Win 8.1 in Company Network

Today I started rolling out Adobe Reader 11.09 in my company network.
Installed on 4 machines I have difficulties on 2:
- 2 machines with Windows 7: no Problem
- 2 machines with Windows 8.1: Adobe Reader is very unstable and slow
I tried opening pdf-files from a network share (as I read a different thread here) and from local hard drive.
Both times Adobe Reader gave no Response for minutes.
After changing back to 11.08: no problem.
Anyone any idea?
If you need more detailed information just ask.

Not that anyone cares but I´ve solved the problem.
It has nothing to do with Windows 7 or Windows 8 but if the proxy in system settings is enabled or not.

  • Reinstall/repair adobe reader 11.0.08 on win xp pro sp3 - ole trouble.

    Hi,
i want to reinstall adobe reader 11.0.08 on win xp pro sp3.
Reinstallint using setup seem to work, but ole is not working: e.g. from word , I do insert object, click ole , select adobe acrobat object, then app freezes.
2 processes are created dor adobe reader and I have to do "end-task".
Inserting another ole object (e.g. excel) works!
I tried uninstall from control panel.
I also downloaded and ran acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_061713 and acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p2_061713 (downloaded from your web site), then reboot and reinstall. No change!
    Any hint?

    Hi albourg,
Try disabling the protected mode in Reader and check the performance.
You can find the option at: Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > Enable Protected Mode at startup

  • Problem signing in to adobe reader. Have a valid account but keeps coming up 'network error'.

Had a problem signing in to my adobe reader account for about a week now.
Use the PDF pack to convert Excel into PDF and have been using this for 6 months without any previous issues.
Just comes up with 'network error occurred while trying to sign in' but my network is working fine and no other problems with my computer or network.
I have tried unloading and reinstalling the PDF pack but makes no difference.
    Completely stuck, please help!

    Hi Sara,
    Thanks for the quick response.
I am using the latest version or Reader XI.
I can log in direct through cloud.acrobat.com so that is a way around the
issue but I still need the use of the PDF pack ideally.
If I try to log in to acrobat.com via the adobe Reader XI homepage then it
comes up with the following - "We cant seem to find the internet. Please
check your connection and try again"
I am using my home wifi connection with no problems on any other computers
    or devices.

  • Adobe Reader 9 - Runtime Error on Win Server 2003 terminal server

One of my clients has a Citrix farm utilizing 3 Windows 2003 Servers. I have 1 user out of about 20 that receive this error message when opening up PDFs. Last week I had updated the servers from 9.1 to 9.4.5 thinking that it was just a result of an outdate or corrupted install of 9.1. User is still getting the error after update though. No other users have an issue opening PDFs. The error message looks like:
I added the domain users group the the NTFS permissions on the root folder of user redirected folders with the "read/list folder contents", as outlined in similar articles, but this issue seems to be different because it's only 1 user getting the error. I did see something odd in the user's App Data\Adobe\Acrobat\ folder, it was missing a folder named 9.0. Almost like it didn't get installed for his profile. Anyone have any ideas?

Oops forgot to upload pic in last post. Here is the error:

  • I use Adobe Reader v10.1.2 under Win-XP 64-bit; why does Reader not start?

The experience I'm having with Reader is that it installed correctly but when I try to start it all I get is an error message saying that Reader cannot run in Protected Mode
and gives me three radio buttons to choose from but no matter which one I select, Reader corrupts Win-XP 64-bit in memory and then I can't run anything. I have to reboot
the system in order to run my other programs. Please offer a solution to this problem. I tried uninstalling Reader and then reinstalling it but I keep getting the same thing.

    Hello,
I was able to delete all the folders and files except for two files,
Indentity-H and Identity-V. I didn't delete the Setup Files directory.
    Did a repair and
then tried to run Reader. Instead of starting up, I still got the
Protected Mode error giving me the three radio button choices. It also
    said Reader
couldn't start in Protected Mode due to a system configuration error.
Hope this helps. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
    Most sincere and best regards,

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.9 will not open PDF's from network shares

Having an issue on computers running 11.0.8 that auto update to 11.0.9.  Opening a PDF from a network share that previously worked will no longer, giving the following error: "There was an error opening this document. The network path was not found".  I tried backing off to 11.0.8 again, as that's what get.adobe.com/reader is serving up, but it pops it right back to .9 after a few minutes as auto-updates are on.
Network path was put in the Security (Advanced) section, even turned Protected Mode off.
    Ideas?

Can you please send process monitor logs:
To take process monitor log follow the below steps:
    1) Download process monitor from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
    2) Launch process monitor.
    3) Now try to open the PDF file at network share. It will not open with the network error so just cancel the error dialog.
    4) Save process monitor logs as a .pml file.
    5) Send it to me.
Try above workflows with Protected Mode checkbox checked.
    Thanks,
    Shakti K

  • Memory leak on latest Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Win XP SP2

    Dear Adobe Developers,
I have encountered a strange problem. I open a PDF file of size about 16.5 MB, I search trough it and then the memory allocated starts steadily growing until it fills out the entire RAM and the virtual memory as well. Strange thing is this only happens after I perform a search through the file; if I don't do it, all stays within normal. I was wondering if it is not a memory leak of some kind? I use Adobe Reader 8.1.2 on Win XP with Service Pack 2 on Celeron 1.7 GHZ, 256 DDR RAM, 320 GB HDD ect .. Normally the RAM occupied by the OS itself is only about 100 MB so there are ~150MB left free. But they seem not to be enough even when we add to them the virtual memory.
    Greetings,
    Georgi Popov, BG

    >I have more than 700 MB virtual memory.
That's probably not enough for normal operations. A couple of
    gigabytes is safer.
There may be a problem, though. This doesn't sound like normal
behaviour. Acrobat may be cacheing text - does the size stop
increasing if you search for something, and find it, on the LAST page?

  • Printing in Adobe Reader 11

I had Adobe Reader 10 (X) on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit desktop. I can open PDF files just fine and view them, and save them. Just as soon as I got the the Quick Print button or File --> Print, the adobe reader window goes right into Not Responding. I never even get a Print Window. I have tried different PDF's, same result. I uninstall Reader X, deleted all files and registry entries, reinstalled Reader X, same problem. So I unsinstalled and installed Reader XI, same problem. It is really frustrating.
I have an Epson NX100, with the most up to date drivers. Any ideas why this is happening? I have waited 10 minutes for it to "come back" from not responding, never does. I have to kill the process from Task Manager in order to get rid of the Adobe Reader window.

I don't know why this is happening; "Not Responding" usually means the process is waiting for something - but what?
If this were happening to me, I would try to observe the process with Process Monitor - this might get me an idea what resource it is waiting for.

Bsafe libraries. Now whenever I open a doc with password it crashes adobe reader.Did anyone face a similar issue? Any workaround?

    Pat:
Thank you again. I saved the file to my Desktop and when I opened Adobe Reader the file opened.

  • Adobe Reader 9 Installer on Desktop?

I just installed Adobe Reader 9 on a new Win Vista machine and it intalled three icons on my desktop: Adobe Reader 9, Adobe Reader 9 Installer, Acrobat.com. I understand why I need the Adobe Reader 9, but why were the other two left on my desktop after the intall? Can I delete the Adobe Reader 9 Installer and the Acroat.com? I don't really want them on my desktop if I don't need them. Thanks for the help. Mac

I have the same thing. I use Vista home Premium
I notice the adobe reader 9 installer folder is full of stuff. I wonder if you can delete it after reader 9 is installed?
Also I have adobe Air in my programs. Can that be deleted too?
Now when I first downloaded reader 9 I clicked ok for the Adobe DLM active x and that allowed something called "getPlus for Adobe" from NOS Microsystems. When I installed adobe Reader 9 on another computer, I did not click ok to Adobe DLM active x and i did NOT get reader 9installer on my dek top nor the getPlus for Adobe
I wonder if you don't use Adobe DLM active X and if you delete Adobe Air, Acrobat.com, doe you still have the newer secure Reader 9 functions?

  • Adobe Reader 10.1

After installing the Adobe Reader 10.1 on a WIN XP SP3 box and restoring the computer to an earlier time; the Adobe Reader 10.1 will not launch- see the program begin then just disappears, same thing when opening pdf file. Using add/remove programs - there are no Reader installations to remove. When I tried downloading the Adobe Reader 10.1 again from the Adobe website installation failed with this message; "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

sorry Paul but welcome to world of Adobe. the software is a total piece of crap. I even went so far as to uninstall my security and it still won't download properly. it destroyed my older version and now I can't read a pdf at all.

  • Adobe Reader - Interface visualization problem

I have installed Adobe reader on my PC under Win XP but as I try to open a pdf file the Acrobat interface starts to throw into a tantrum.
    The menù bar disappears.
Every menù on the menù bar comes out again only if I drag the mouse on the menù bar area. And it appears the menù that occupy the area where the arrow of my mouse lay only.
A very big grey area appears between the menù bar and the tool bar.
As I close the pdf the interface of the program works well.
What could be the cause of that problem?
    tnx in advance
and sorry for my bad english

I have the exactly the same problem, on two different PCs!
The menu bar changes it's size or position or disappears altogether (taking the window frame with it) if you move the mouse over it. Sometimes it appears blank, and you need to move the mouse over the menu items (File, Edit, etc.) for them to pop into view. Other times there is a large empty area below the menu bar, about 3 or 4 times as thick. This also pushes the status bar, horizontal scroll bar, and the bottom of the document out of view, since window size calculations don't seem to take it into account.
This doesn't happen when PDF files are opened in the internet explorer plug in, nor when you hide the menu bar.
In fact, a work-around to the problem is to press F9 twice in quick sucession - to hide then show the menu bar. It then appears correctly. It will screw up again only if you move the mouse outside the adobe reader document area (e.g. onto the desktop, or onto the window frame) and then back into the document; often you'll have to move the mouse onto the menu bar itself for the problem to recur.
If you maximize the Adobe Reader window and avoid moving the mouse to the top of the screen, then the problem won't bother you.
Clearly this is a serious bug in Adobe Reader!!!

    Hi Wiley, download Procmon http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
and this config file I created for it https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6i2URX1bG7nQ0ZMVXdoNTNVZzQ&usp=sharing  It's called Adobe.pmc
Place procmon and Adobe.pmc on your desktop.  Now open a command prompt and type cd Desk hit <tab> for it to auto complete and hit enter.  Now type procmon.exe /AcceptEula /LoadConfig Adobe.pmc  and press enter.
With Procmon running launch adobe to the point it generates your error.  Now go in procmon and do File > Save...  and make sure "events displayed using current filter and format is PML.  Upload this file someone and reply back with the address and I can find the problem.

  • Adobe Reader in corporate environment

Hello. I work in a company with more than 50,000 machines and they have the adobe reader installed, this reader was downloaded directly from the Adobe website. We need to make a contract for mass distribution of Adobe Reader but my question is this contract force the company to pay for any value? You must remove the versions that are installed to install any enterprise version? I appreciate the support.

So finishing my question, is necessary to have the contract for use of the adobe reader on the internal network, but do not need to remove any that are already installed (more than 50,000) to install a different version for, whether it be for home or business the application is the same. It is very important that I acknowledge the need for replacement or cost to the company. Thank you for supporting friends.
