Adobe Reader 8.1.2 unable to print on Sharp 450 model
Hello
After an Adobe upgrade, PDF's cant print to Sharp 450 models. Simply says "the document can't be printed" However, if we check "Print as Image" it's prints with no errors. This issue is printer specific because pdf's are able to print ok to other Sharp printers on the network. Clients are running Win XP Professional. We have uninstalled and reinstall Adobe and we have the updated 450 driver from Sharp. Has anyone seen this specific issue, or at lease with other printers. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the link but my problem is with EXE files (amongst others) so, as stated in the MS article, you can't use that method to change the behaviour.
By comparing to another machine, I have found is a set of keys in the HKCU registry that shouldn't be there -
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe]
"Application"="AcroRD32.exe"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWi thList]
"a"="AcroRd32.exe"
"MRUList"="a"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWi thProgids]
"exefile"=hex(0):
Having now removed them using REGEDIT (& I remembered to back up my registry first!) I have now re-installed Acrobat Reader without experiencing problems (haven't rebooted yet, but I'm pretty sure it's fixed) - e.g. I can still use REGEDIT, launch IE7 or Firefox from icons that didn't work before.
I have no idea how those keys got there, but they're gone now ;-}

I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit), using Firefox 8.0. When I open a document with Adobe Reader 9, I am unable to do anything with it (print, save, etc.) other than view it. When I use Internet Explorer I don't have this problem.
Not sure what you mean by truncated troubleshooting report, but here's what I copied from "troubleshooting" under "help". My printer is selected as the default printer in Devices and Printers. Also, remember that a document that won't print in Firefox prints fine in Internet Explorer.

Adobe Reader v 11.0.10 cannot print PDF files
Hello,
My Adobe Reader v11.0.10 running on Windows 8 Pro with Media Center cannot print anymore.
I used to be able to print from Adobe Reader before.
I still can print to all printers using other applications – Word, Excel, Notepad.
I can print a test page on any of my printers without any problems.
I can print PDF files using other PDF viewers (like Foxit reader), but I can’t print from Adobe Reader.
There is no error message on the screen and there is no any error message in the log files.
If I uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install it, then the first time I log on I’ll be able to print once.
But any consecutive attempt to print will fail!
Any ideas what could be the problem?
Thank you!Hello,
I go to File --> Print menu.
As I always do.
It used to work before.
I haven't tried "Print as image" option, but I'll try it and post the result!
I will try also unchecking 'Enable Protected Mode at Startup' option under Edit> Preferences> Security (Enhanced)
As I mentioned in my previous post I tried re-installing Adobe Reader - but no luck :
"If I uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install it, then the first time I log on I’ll be able to print once."
I think that the issue is not the particular file - it has something to do with Adobe Reader itself. Maybe it is corrupted????
I'll try again tomorrow and I'll post the result!
Thank you for your reply! -
When Mozilla Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe Reader needed updating. After updating to Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to a file. I know the printer and its interface must be OK because Word prints normally.
Problem solved, it was my oversight, I had not removed the check from the Print to File box in the print set up.

Adobe Reader no longer Auto-Closes after printing
My company uses software that allows for users to reprint invoices they have previously made. The way the procedure is supposed to work is: the driver clicks a re-print button, Adobe Reader opens up with the document, prints it, then closes. Within the past couple of weeks however, everything is fine however Adobe Reader will not close out. The PDF document itself closes, but the user is then brought to the main menu where they can open up another PDF. The problem this is causing is that they cannot reprint other invoices until manually closing out of Adobe reader every time. There have not been any updates made to the software they are using, or to Adobe Reader. We have users on both Windows XP and 7, and have the issue with both Reader v10 and 11.
Any suggestions on how I might be able to get Adobe Reader to auto-close again? I am also checking with the software vendor for their insight.Might be difficult to fix.
You don't know what changes to your system/registry have been made by the virus infection you told of.
Maybe this article has some useful hints for you.

How do I mark that you resolved my problem? -
I am using Mac OS X 10.9.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.09 and it prints PDFs 1/6 of page 6 times on page, instead of the whole page. I have tried Print as Image, no joy. Multiple pages is NOT selected. I cannot get anyone from Adobe to help me with this problem and it is becoming a major impediment to my work!
Hi Suzbat,
If you try to print any other document from any other application. Did you check, are you facing the same issue or not?
Have you tried to install latest drivers of the printer.

Why does Adobe reader tell me to install a printer when I try to print?
I have just reinstalled Windows Vista after a viral attack and now have reinstalled all my programs including Adobe Reader. I now can't print a pdf document. the error message tells me to install a printer, but my HP photosmart printer works fine with other programs, and used to print from earlier versions of Adobe Acrobat. Having read what other people have said I uninstalled Adobe 9 and installed Adobe 8. Still can't print. Can anyone help on this one?

I have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader, but I am unable to use it. How do I launch it?
You can't open it from the Applications folder?
The pre installed Preview app in your Applications folder can open PDF files. -
I have the monthly calendar on screen, click the more button, click print. Another window pops up and when I click the print button nothing happens. I am using Firefox 19.0 and Adobe Reader 10.1.6. The print function works in IE and Chrome.
this solution did NOT work for me. I still cannot print a Google calendar page in Firefox. I can in IE. And I can print Gmail.

Adobe Reader 9.1.3 Doesn't Print on Mac 10.5.8
I have just installed an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g printer. It prints from every program I have tested, including Safari, Pages, and TextMate. However, it does not print from Adobe Reader 9.1.3
I am running the most current version of Leopard, have run Software Update and updated everything, and have run Check for Updates in Adobe Reader (it reports that there are no updates available)
I turned on debugging through cups ( http://localhost:631 ) and get the message:
E [09/Aug/2009:09:05:12 -0700] [Job 14] pstopdffilter/pstocupsraster failed with err number 13
D [09/Aug/2009:09:05:12 -0700] Discarding unused printer-state-changed event...

E [09/Aug/2009:09:05:17 -0700] [Job 14] Opening Printer Connection Failed: Unable to open the printer connection. Please check your printer connections and check for printer errors.
I am connected via wireless to the router, and then wireless from the router to the printer. Again, every other program prints without problem, so it is not a connection problem
I had seen a post about problems printing with Reader that suggested opening the Preview mode, and then printing from that, but when I click the Preview button, I get the message "Preview is not supported".
My workaround (other than not using Reader!) is to click Print, then open the expanded Print Dialog (click on the little down arrow), click on Advanced..., then select "Print as image". When I do that, it prints without problem.
James Nachbar
[url deleted by host]To clarify my previous post, I had already seen http://forums.adobe.com/message/1770581 . I mentioned in my post that I get the message "Preview not supported" when I click the Preview button from the print dialog in Adobe Reader, and thus concluded that the "Preview" workaround discussed in that thread wasn't helping me.
However, re-reading that post, they were talking about using the Mac "Preview" application to print the pdf file. Like every other application (other than Reader) I have tried, the Mac's Preview application prints just fine, and is another workaround.
The only program that doesn't print for me is Adobe Reader.
BTW, I also have an Intel chip in my MacBook Pro.
Re-installing Leopard, as suggested by one post in that thread, is not a reasonable option for this problem.
In fact, since Preview allows me to view and print .pdf's , my solution is probably just going to be not to use Adobe Reader. In fact, had I not been new to the Mac, I would have known that I didn't need Adobe Reader at all.
However, I'm glad this happened, in the sense that I use CS3 on the PC, and had considered moving to CS4 on the Mac. However, since Adobe apparently hasn't figured out how to get printing to work on a Mac from their flagship product (!), I will be sure to do a lot of testing of CS4 before considering buying the upgrade. -
Adobe Reader 11.0.2 Cannot See Printer
Hi, I am unable to see my printer listed when attempting to print in Adobe Reader 11.0.2. HOWEVER, when I log on with the Domain Administrator account, the printer does show. I have no problems seeing the printer from all other applicaitons, like word, IE, chrome, etc. I have already uninstalled Adobe Reader and Re-installed it. I have also uninstalled and re-installed the latest printer driver from the printer vendor's website. I am using Windows 7 x64.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
-sul.Hi,
Could you please share your printer details?

I use a teaching resource called Studyladder.co.nz. It uses animations for teaching programmes and activites. On my new computer, with up to date versions of Firefox and Adobe I am unable to get the animations to work. Also I am unable to print PDF files.
