Adobe Reader 8 - Print issue to specific printer

Hi,
I have a RISO 5000 printer and everytime I attmept to print from Adobe Reader, the program will crash and the document does not print. The printer will print from any application other than this. We are using Adobe Reader 8 on Windows XP machines. How can I fix this?
Thanks for the help!
Jeremy

I put this aside. The only thing I can think of, is installing earlier verisons and testing those. I'm not sure Adobe will assist on this issue since Adobe Reader is a free program. I'll post any solutions that come this way.

  • Can't print from Adobe Reader, "no pages selected to print"

I can't print PDFs from Adobe Reader. I can print from any other program, just not Adobe Reader. When I click "Print", I get an error that says, "The document could not be printed". I click "OK" and then it says, "There were no pages selected to print". Even if I try to print a page at a time, it still won't work.  I have a Mac and my Adobe Reader is up to date. Any ideas?

You should really ask in the Reader forum. Be sure to indicate the OS and printer you are trying to use, particularly if it is a network printer. Provide information about having installed the most recent printer driver if appropriate. When you open the print menu in Reader, do you have any printers in the list?

  • I have created a form. I just want a specific area of the form to be printed to a specific printer in Windows 7. Is there a way to do this?

There are 2 printers on the system.  I want to create a Print Button, so that if the user clicks it, a desired area prints on a specific printer.
    Thanks for your consideration.

No, unfortunatley there is not.  For a full listing of Unicode supported characters please refer to section Unicode Character Support at FormsCentral Help | Formula syntax for built-in functions

  • How to set to print to a specific printer name

    Background:
I have a form (one page) which has two hidden pages to it (front and back of certificate).  The details entered on form appear on certificate.  I have a hidden button on form which when pressed asks for a password and unhides certificate if correct password is entered as well as a button on form to print the certificate.  This button to print the certificate is preset to print only pages 2 and 3.
    Question:
I would like to know if there is a way of setting the "print certificate" button to automatically select a printer name as forms can be printed on any local printer but the certificate needs to print to a specific printer which is colour and has card stock.
The only code I have currently behind this print button is the following:
    xfa.host.print(1, (xfa.host.numPages -2).toString(), (xfa.host.numPages -1).toString(), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0);

    Hi,
I am fairly sure that you cannot do it using the xfa.host.print, but you may get a printParams working. See an example here https://acrobat.com/#d=Kuivy1SdOSbQnRs3kyeVDQ, in particular on page 2.
    Hope that helps,

  • Adobe Reader X Windows 7 (64) Printing Issue

When attempting to print, either by clicking the print button, pressing Ctrl + P, or selecting File - Print, Adobe reader closes.  No print dialog ever appears.
I do not have this issue with other software printing.
    Ideas?

You may have to apply this patch: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/928/cpsid_92870.html

  • Adobe Reader X cannot respond to printer properties number of copies issue

    Hi to all!
I have an issue using Adobe Reader X 10.0.1, 10.1.0, 10.1.2, when select File > Print > Page Handling: Copies = 1, click Printer Properties > Page Setup, specify eg. Copies : 5, it print 1 copy only instead of 5 on Windows platform.
Happen to a number of printers, eg. HP, Epson, Xerox, Canon, Brother printer, etc.
For some reason, Adobe Reader X cannot respond to the No. of copies specified in the printer properties.
Anyone have any solutions or workarounds to solve this issue besides specifying Adobe Reader X : File>Print>Page Handling: 5 copies?
Is there any website, forum, supporting documents, with regards to above scenario?
Please kindly advice, thank you in advance!

    Hi LoriAUC,
    Sorry for the late response!
The users had a habit of going into the printer properties to specify other printer options eg. 2-sided printing, manual feed printing, heavy paper, etc... besides the number of copies inside the printer properties as well. Therefore, they prefer to do all the various changes in the printer properties instead of changing it at the Adobe Reader dialog.
The same method were applied by all the users in Adobe Reader 9.4.7 and there were perfectly no issue at all! All the network printers (23 different brands and models in the network) responded to the printer properties "number of copies" accordingly.
It seems that Adobe Reader X dialog Page Handling: No of copies, cannot synchronise and recognise the "No of copies" specified in the printer properties. This symptom was tested and found to be the same behaviour for different printer manufacturers. Wonder if there is a bug with Adobe Reader X as this issue did not occur for Adobe Reader 8 and 9 versions. The users were using Reader 8 and 9 versions before and there were no complaints until it was eventually all upgraded to Reader X, starting from 10.0.1, 10.1.0 and now 10.1.2.
What do you think could be the cause?

  • Adobe Reader Version 8.2.6 printing issues

First a quick overview of our setup:
    Workstation are Windows xp pro
We use a central Printer/copier with multiple paper trays with multiple paper sizes loaded
The default on the printer is set to 8.5x11, monochrome, portrait.
(note: Ignore page size beign displayed in the preview area as this is not the page size in question)
When I select print on my PDF I get a print screen with several options (see above)
The 2 sections in question are the Page handling area and the Preview Composite are, as the issue I am having is when I have a PDF that needs to be printed on a large page (say 11x18 or some other large area
When I select Auto Rotate and center option as well as Choose paper source by PDF page size the default printer options appear to take over instead of the settings set by the print screen within Adobe.  The preview composite area shows its going to print one way...but when it actually prints it comes out totally different.   If I go into my printer settings (via the properties tab above) and change the settings to print according to the way I want it prints fine....untill the next PDF I open, then everything defaults back and the pdf does not print right.
SO to recap:  The print settings I set within Adobe do not appear to do anything as the default printer settings of the printer appear to be doing what they want instead of what the software is telling it to do.
    ANy ideas?
    Thanks

  • Print all linked documents (was Re: Adobe Reader X Issues)

    Hi Jeff
Is there any way to print pdf   via print all linked document  option from  internet exploer?
Thanks ahead for your help .

Are you trying to print to a pdf file with Adobe Reader? Are you viewing a pdf file in Internet Explorer using the Reader plug-in and trying to print to a physical printer?
In either case the answer is no.

  • Adobe Reader version 10.1.6 Printer Issue

I have the latest version of Adobe Reader (10.1.6) installed on Windows Vista Home Premium. When I select print I get a message "You must have a printer installed before printing".  Adobe reader is not detecting an installed network printer.  I have had this problem on all versions later than version 7.  My version 7 on a Windows XP works fine.  Solutions anyone?  All of my Microsoft Office programs recognize the network printer.

You can try to delete and then re-install the printer.

  • Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) print dialog freezes

We recently pushed out Reader 10.1.1 to our agency staff. Some people have reported that the Print dialog box or the Print Properties dialog box freezes for 30-60 seconds before they can click any buttons on it. After that it seems fine.
We're on Win7 SP1 and WinXP SP3, and just upgraded from Reader 9.4.2 to 10.1.1. Most of our printers are Xerox Document Centre 5600 series and 7345, with a few older HP and Lexmark models. We currently use device specific PS drivers.
Does anyone have any ideas about this? Why would the dialog box freeze? I read something from a Google search about Reader searching all printers, not just the default printer, and hanging on any non-existent printers. http://gtech-kiwi.blogspot.com/2009/06/adobe-reader-print-dialog-display-slow.html As far as I know, the people who had the issue did not have any printers listed that no longer exist.
    Thanks,
    E Powell
    Austin, TX

I'm tracking an issue which resembles Mr. Powell's report.  Below are the symptoms I have recorded and the workaround I have discovered.
Symptom: when attempting to change print properties using Acrobat Reader print dialog the printer properties dialog becomes unresponsive to mouse clicks for a long time, an extended period of time, an indefinite length of time, my patience expired after 3 minutes.  Unresponsive means that the user cannot print: in particular clicking the cancel and OK buttons on the dialog have no effect.  Windows does not report the application as "not responding".  The print properties dialog appears to be hung.  The symptom is not observed every time the print dialog is invoked.  The symptom has been observed when attempting to print a PDF from the Reader application or attempting to print a PDF that is open in IE.
    Affected versions:
The symptom was first observed when deploying implementing Reader 10.1.2.  Reader 10.1.3 does not resolve the issue.  We migrated our environment from 9.X to Reader 10.1.2.  The issue was not observed with the 9.X or earlier series.  I have not tested with 10.1.1.  The symptoms are not observed with other applications.
    Environment:
My environment includes a Xerox WorkCentre 7675 and a Xerox WorkCentre 5675, one HP and a few Brother printers.  So far the issue has only been reported in relation to the Xerox printers.
The printers in our environment have not changed.  What changed was the Adobe Reader version.
Symptom observed on Win XP SP3 and Win 7 SP1 64bit.
    Workarounds.
To wake up the print properties dialog invoked from the Adobe Reader print dialog the following seem to do the trick:
Change focus to a different application and switch back to Adobe Reader.  For example, click the Start Menu and then click on the print dialog or use Alt-Tab.
Use the keyboard.  1a) Use the tab key to navigate the dialog.  1b) Press Alt-P to open the properties dialog.
    Mr. Powell,
Have you resolved the issue you reported above?  Are the workarounds I mentioned above effective for you?

  • Adobe reader 11.0.5 - cannot print pdf file to network printer

I have a 64 bit HP Pavilion a6230n PC running Windows 7, fully updated. I have wireless connection to a home file/printer server. My printer, a Brother HL-5140, is connected via USB to the file/printer server. All my other Windows programs capable of printing can print on the network printer - all except adobe reader. Adobe Reader sees the printer and all printing processes appear to be sending the file to the printer, however, the printer never gets the document. I've tried printing as a document, in which case the document sits in the printer queue until I delete it. If I send it as an image, each queue entry is deleted after adobe thinks it has printed. Again, nothing ever prints on the printer, and again, no other program running on my computer has any problems printing to this printer.
I would appreciate any help with this problem.
    Addendum - 4 Nov 13:
I uninstalled adobe reader 11 and installed a much earlier version, and now I can print pdf files. Clearly the printing issue is with the current versions of adobe reader.

This phenomenon can happen with PDF files that have errors in them.  Adobe Reader or Acrobat may be able to fix these errors, but if you close the application, it will ask to save the corrected file.  If you save it once, that should no longer occur when you open it again.
This is just one explanation, but it doesn't explain why that happens with every PDF you have.
Test: does it also happen with a PDF that is not supposed to contain any errors: http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/adobe_reader_reference.pdf ?

  • Adobe Reader 9.3.4 intermittently prints or prints blank pages

We are encountering a problem with workstations in our environment where users can occasionally print PDF files successfully but often (more than 50% of the time) nothing prints or 10-20 blank pages print.  On the workstation, no error messages appear on screen at any time and no errors related to this issue appear in the Event Log.  In the System Tray, the print icon appears and disappears normally.  If I watch the print queue, the job passes and appears like it printed successfully and the queue clears.  We've also run into a few instances where only a half page prints or half of a page prints (when printing as image) but is shrunken and centered on page.
The users have multiple configurations regarding printers.  All have at least one Xerox printer installed and various combinations or HP, Brother and Canon printers for use while off network.  The users experience this issue when printing from their workstations to any of these printers.  We have tried PS, PCL6 and Universal print drivers for each of the printer to no effect.  We have uninstalled Adobe Reader and reinstalled multiple times.  We tested using a base 9.0.0, 9.3.3 and after update to 9.3.4 and the same problem existed.  We did clear out the folders and any stray registry entries between uninstall/reinstall.  We also cleared off all print drivers and reinstalled only one driver just to test and still experienced the problem.
We have tried the "print as image" suggestion and received the same results.  We've tried setting the printing preference (Print/Advanced) to Send For Each Page to no effect.  We've disabled all advanced features in the print drivers -- same issue.
All of our workstations are on Windows XP SP3.  On the machines we're actively troubleshooting this problem on, we have confirmed Windows Updates have been applied through the August 2010 patches.  Our environment is fairly vanilla -- WinXP SP3, Office 2003, HP workstations.  Problem occurs when printing PDFs from email attachments, from web pages or when saved locally.  The problem also occurs on workstations at unrelated business units so it isn't a case where one batch of bad images/installs rolled out.  We use direct (IP) printing and not network print servers/queues.
If anyone can provide any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Adobe Reader 9.0 will not print on Macbook Pro with OS X 10.6

I have the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and when printing labels or other pdf's, Adobe Reader 9.0 just sits there, doesn't even acknowledge that I am trying to print.  When I open the print queue, it says trying to print, loading data but sits forever.  If I print from Preview and other apps, it works fine, so it's obviously an Adobe issue with the new Macs.  Any suggestions for this non-technical person that just wants to print?  Thanks.

If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions or have other problems with updating to update then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Adobe Reader 9 crashing PC when printing - BSOD

When I try to print from Adobe Reader 9 (version 9.1.3), it crashes my PC - the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!
My PC:  Dell Optiplex 755 with very fast Intel 2 Duo Core chip, 2GB of RAM (of which 1.4GB is usually free), WinXPPro SP3 with all updates, good anti-virus and anti-spyware -- a very good, fast, clean machine.
My Printer:  HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless, new six months ago and generally very good.
So I have UNinstalled Adobe Reader 9 and gone back to Adobe Reader 8.  Printed from it once this morning and saw no problem.
    Any thoughts?

480 what RAM? Megabytes, Gigabytes? How about free hard drive space? Have you checked your computer for a virus? They can cause all sorts of issues. Assuming you are virus free can you turn off your virus checker and see if that has any effect?
