Adobe reader 9.2 wont download.

There is no error message. I get dialog box that says please wait for set-up, but nothing happens. I am using windows XP and
have a new motherboard, faster processor, and plenty of memory after computer crashed last month. Please help! I am also using dial-up internet. Dont know if this matters.

I don't think that this has any connection to your Internet connection. I am on a cable and am having the same problem. At this point I have not been able to get any information from Adobe concerning this problem. I get the downloader, but it can't find the Windows installer. It's looking for adberdr920_en_US.msi. I have searched for that file and it doesn't exist on my computer. I have also used the address supplied by graffiti in this forum and it does the same thing. I had 9.1 working just fine, but now it will not print and it cannot be uninstalled because it can't find it's uninstaller. I wish I had the answer, but I don't. I'm suspicious of my McAfee firewall but I have turned it off to download and install and that makes no difference either.

    Hello,
How can I give a answer back in the discussion on Adobe.com?
    I don’t see any link?
    1.      We have a subscription.
    2.      Im converting a newsletter from the web to PDF.
    3.      Sometimes I put a weblink behind the image in the newsletter. Most of the time PDF wont take the links behind the image.
    Only the tekstlinks are OK.

What is your operating system & version?
Define "cannot" - what happens when you try?
Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

I have a new hp tower running windows 8.1 and have been trying to install the adobe reader.  The installer downloads (1meg) and I choose to run it but it just sits with an empty screen.  I've checked task manager and it takes up memory but does nothing.  After letting it run for 3-4 minutes I kill the task.  What can I do to get the reader installed on this machine?  I've tried using chrome, firefox and explorer and get the same results with each.

  • Flash Player And adobe reader not working and downloads don't work

I have IE 8 and windows vista and everything has worked great for 2 years until 2 or 3 weeks ago.  At that time my flash player stopped working so I could no longer get videos , streaming stock quotes, weather map loops, etc and when I go to websites that use Flash (i.e. Piaaz Hut) it wouldn't work.  Also, at that same time my adobe reader stopped working properly and I can't view mosy PDF Files.
I have gone through many of the posts on this forum and have tried many of the fixes, but none have work for me.
I tried to uninstall the Flash Player, but I didn't use the Adobe uninstaller.
Whenever I try to update or load the Flash player, a dialog box with the globe tossing papers to the folder appears and then after a few seconds I get the the message that IE can't install_flash_player_ax.exe from fp download.adobe.com, and then a message that says IE was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
In control panel programs I have listed
    Adobe AIR      no size
Adobe Flash Player 10 active X           no size
    Adobe Reader 9.3     141mb
    Macromedia Shockwave player      no size
In Tools i have the following add ons and they are all enabled
    Shockwave Flash object 10.0.42.34
    Adobe PDF Link Helper
    Adobe PDF Reader
Macromedia Shockwave Active X Control 10.1
As I said I've already attempted a number of the fixes on this forum, but so far no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I might try?
    Thanks

Ok, I tried to download the firefox browser but IE wouldn't let me download it.  My friend downloaded it from their computer to a flash drive and I loaded it to my computer from the flash drive.  The download of Firefox from the flash drive worked, and now I'm using Firefox & both my adobe flash player and my adobe reader are working just great.
However, neither the flash player nor the reader are working if I use IE, so I guess I will just have to use Firefox as my browser.
I'm going to mark my question as answered since I really don't care that I have to use Firefox instead of IE,although I can't understand why it works using Firefox but not using IE.
Thank you so much for your assistance in walking me step-by-step through this problem until I was able to reach a satisfactory solution.

  • Do I need Adobe Reader if I just downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0?

Hi! I just downloaded Acrobat Pro 9.0 and when I try to open a .pdf file in a website, I get the following message, "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser.  Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  Please exit and try again."  When I click "okay", I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" page.
I do have Adobe Reader version 8.1.2 installed on my machine.  Does Acrobat Pro have a built-in reader and should I just un-install it?
    Thanks a bunch!

Halp! I've got another issue associated with this...
Now when I go to open a .pdf file, I get a pop-up box that say's the following, "Do you want to save this file or find a program online to open it?".  My button options are FIND, SAVE and CANCEL.
When I click FIND, my only ADOBE option is Adobe Reader.  It doesn't offer Adobe Acrobat.  Why didn't it just open automatically?
    AAAARRRGGGHHH!!
    Can you help???

  • Why does adobe Reader XI ask to download Flashplayer when trying to open an Portfolio.pdf document?

    Hello Everyone
I have a user that created a portfolio in Adobe X Pro. When they send this out to user and they try to open it with the Adobe Reader XI or Reader X it asks them to download the lates Flashplayer.
All our systems have the latest flashplayer install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You
    Dave

I just have to add my 2 cents. While I'm sure this change in program has some benefit for Adobe, to me it's horrible for the end user and makes Adobe look bad. In my organization's case, we have about 400 systems, of which only about 40 have the Flash Player Plugin installed. Which means 90% of our systems do not currently have what's needed to open these documents. Now we will need to start rolling out both version of Flash Player. Not a huge deal with Kace, but it's still a potential point of failure and extra headache.
While IE's usage stake has diminished greatly, they're still a big player. However, in IE you only get to the "plugin" version if you tell it you're looking for a different browser. The regular IE user says "I only use IE, so why would I want the plugin for a browser I didn't install?" If the plugin version is the "full" version, then maybe you should consider having one installer that includes both ActiveX and the plugin.

  • Why can't I open pdf files in my browser even though I have Adobe Reader 9.4.1 downloaded?

This is an irregular problem. Sometimes pdf files open; sometimes not. The message is always that this type of file is not supported by my browser.

Are you saying that Adobe Reader or Preview can't read PDF file that you download? Or, are you saying that you can't display PDF files in your Safari broweer? If the latter, then delete any AdobePDFViewer plugins you find in /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ and restart. That should allow Safari to display PDFs in its window. BTW, that's the worst place to view them. Better to download them and use Adobe Reader or Preview.

  • Adobe Reader X won't download

    Hi all,
I am a Windows XP Home SP3 user with Kaspersky 2011 antivirus software.  I went to the Adobe Reader download page and clicked on the download link, which took me to the "Downloading Adobe Reader" page.  After giving the website permission to download the program, a box came up with a progress bar which had "Installing Adobe Download Manager" written above it.  The progress bar had 5 green dashes that circled through it a couple times before the box disappears.  Adobe Reader X and Adobe Download Manager have not been installed on my computer.  I even tried disabling Kaspersky, but that didn't work either.  The really strange thing is that Adobe Reader X installed just fine on my VAIO laptop, which has Trend Micro antivirus software but is identical to my desktop in every other way.  Can someone help me?

Try downloading the executable installer without download manager from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Also, Adobe Acrobat will not open it keeps saying that an "Application Error" had occurred with the line "0x003c001c" and I'm not sure of the problem. Can anyone help me?

Can you try to download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and save it to disk, then run it from there?

  • Why can't I open Adobe Reader even after I download and install it to my Mac OS X Intel 10.6.6?

I've tried downloading and installing Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X for my Mac, but it won't open.
The problem might be that the highest Adobe Reader available is for the Mac OS Intel 10.5.6 - 10.6.4.
I really need this to work, because I need to download and install this properly before I can install the Oracle Information Rights Management (IRM) Desktop Download.
I need this so I can unseal .spdf files and be able to read my ebook. I can't read it online, but I can download it straight from CengageBrain.
