Adobe Reader 9.4.2 for Solaris
Adobe has recently released Adobe Reader 9.4.2 that contains a huge number of bug fixes. But, surprisingly there's no Solaris specific binaries are available at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/9.x/9.4.2/ unlike older releases (e.g 9.4.1). Do you know if they are going to release Solaris binaries anytime soon ?

How to eliminate error message after downloading Adobe reader ver. XI for mac?
How to prevent an error when downloading Adobe Reader ver. XI for Mac?
Without further data, I would suggest that you try downloading the offline Reader installer from

I have installed Adobe Reader 11.0.07 for Mac OS 10.9.3. Have asked this question numerous time without results. The problems I am having are: I cannot scroll using the side slider on downloaded PDF files, nor can I fill in fillable files. Also, and this is extremely irritating, I cannot re-initialize the same file or initialize and another PDF file after I have initialized the first file. If you cannot help please let me know if should use an earlier version of Reader or find anther company that has the appropriate software.
Perhaps you missed that you started a discussion at I have OS 10.9.2 and have downloaded latest version of Reader 11. I can no longer fill in form or scroll using the side bar. and you did not respond to the last post there.

Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Adobe Reader app
[user]/Library/Preferences
Trash the com.adobe.Reader.plist file
To access the [user]/Library, hold the "Option" key and click "Go" from the FInder menu.
Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Reader folder (the whole folder)
Empty the Trash.
Download the FULL installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Quit your browser and reinstall Reader.
Launch it from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement.
You should have no problems downloading PDFs with Safari.
Unfortunately, ANY PDF that says it's damaged.... is. You'll have to trash them. -
please help
Solution found. By enabling a lockdown feature, we prevented Adobe from trying to muck about getting online. Actually NSA provides recommendations on how to lock down Adobe Reader, google "NSA recommendations for configuring Adobe Reader XI in a Windows Environment". We only used:
HKLM\Software\Policies\Adobe\<product>\<version>\FeatureLockDown\cCloud
bDisableADCFileStore REG_DWORD Set to 1 -

Or are you paying for any of the Acrobat.com services (CreatePDF, ExportPDF, SendNow)? If so, contact Adobe Customer Support by chat or phone.

Do I have to buy Acrobat before I can get Adobe Reader? I have an ID and password for Adobe, but when I try to download Adobe Reader it asks me for a password I don't have.

You do. Your system is either Windows or Mac (or maybe a couple of other less popular choices) and a version of one or the other.
When you set up your machine, you were asked for an administrator user name and password. You need both of these to install software. -
Is it possible to put adobe reader on my website for pdf file users ?
Is it possible to put adobe reader on my website for pdf file users ?
The point is that, like all licensed software, you need permission to redistribute it in any form. So the question is: is that permission granted? If you can find anywhere that grants it that's fine.
Adobe used to give out such permission back in the days of Reader 1, 2, 3... but I believe it was long ago removed. There is a strong reason to do this today: third party redistributors aren't likely to be hot on updating to new versions etc. There is a more cynical view: Adobe would also lose such benefits as it might get from offering dubious "extras" with the download. Finally, and strongly - if anyone can distribute it, these days who can tell who has the real product and who has a malware impersonator? -

* GTK+ (GIMP Toolkit) user interface library, version 2.6 or higher
* Firefox 1.5 or higher; Mozilla 1.73 or higher
Solaris
* UltraSPARC or UltraSPARC IIIi processor
* Solaris 9 or 10
* GNOME or KDE desktop environment (GNOME only for Solaris 10)
* 512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended)
* Up to 175 MB of available hard-disk space
* Firefox 1.5 or higher; Mozilla 1.73 or higherHere is the list of changes and bugs I found in AR8.1.1 and ways to fix them (bugs of course :-) ):
(this is how I fixed these bugs, you may find better ways to fix them)
The most important fix since AR 7.0.9 is that now AR8 works with new Linux
distributions which use recent GTK 2.0 libraries. It is known fact that when
recent GTK 2.0 library was present loading of AR 7.0.9 failed with endless
loop of messages: "expr: syntax error" on console window and serious CPU
usage hit silently slowing down computer reactions. Now this is fixed.
New feature added: Now AR8 scans font pathes inside X config files and adds
found fonts to its own internal font cache so system wide fonts are used for
pdf pages rendering in addition to default built-in AR8 package fonts. If
user will copy font files from Windows/fonts directory to X font locations
the pdf files outlook in AR8 is identical to the one on Windows.
When someone uses tar.bz2 or tar.gz installer it will ask for installation
directory and will show default [ /opt] directory. Do not press enter here!
If you do this a ?[3~ junk directory will be created in current directory. To
overcome this manually type /opt or other location.
Another bug is blank grey window on first run of AR8. Just close it with X and
provide path to libgtkembedmoz folder. This library is a part of mozilla web
browser so it can be found in any mozilla program directory:
/usr/lib/firefox
/usr/lib/seamonkey
/usr/lib/thunderbird
/usr/lib/mozilla
or other locations where mozilla software is installed.
Just run AR8, go to Edit->Preferences->Categories->Internet->Select Browser,
and fill in libgtkembedmoz Folder path with one of these locations or find
correct one for your system.
The last bug is AR8 only creates desktop icons on root account.
AR8 can be run without icon. Just run /usr/bin/acroread -

I coach youth soccer and use a PDF template to save my sessions in. Today I got this message when trying to open one of my sessions.
Adobe Reader could not open 'NSCAAInteractiveSessionPlan.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
How can I fix this? I have not done anything I don't normally do.What is your operating system? Reader version?

I updated Adobe Reader and now double tapping activates zoom. There does not seem to be any way to go to full-screen mode, and reading with the header (time and battery life icons) is unpleasant.
Thanks for taking the time to post -- especially to a thread that was started almost a year ago. I'll give your suggestion a try.

Adobe Reader XI and paid for Conversion
I currently have Adobe Reader XI, after using previous versions. This time, I signed up for 1 year conversion capabilities. However, it appears that I cannot do so from within Reader XI, I just tried and was directed to sign-in via the web and to use my browser to select and convert the appropriate file. I had hoped that, if I paid the conversion fee (which I've never had to do before when converting from PDF to Doc(x)), I'd be able to do so from within Reader.
If not, I'll dump the service and figure an alternative method!

03MAR15Hi ssg978,
You should be able to access your subscription both via Reader and via the web interface at https://cloud.acrobat.com. Without a subscription, you can't convert files to Word from within Reader. Is it possible that you have a version of Acrobat on your computer, and were using that to save PDF files to Word format?
In any case, if you do have Reader and a paid subscription, just make sure that you're logging in to Acrobat.com. You'll find the sign-in link in the upper-right corner of the Tools panel in Reader.
Best,
Sara
