Adobe Reader 9 automatically converts to Word

When I try to open a file in Adobe Reader 9 it automatically converts to Word (just a list of code). How can I prevent this?

I understand that I can merge files online. What I'd like to do is have my original PDF open and convert an Excel sheet into a PDF that is attached to the original PDF within Reader. Being able to do all of this in one place is the main reason I'm subscribing.

Yes, you are correct that merging can only happen online however if you are trying to achieve all the three task togather then i would recommend you to purchase the complete PDF solution Acrobat Professional.
You can achieve this task with the feature in Acrobat called as Action Wizard which create a batch sequence of all the three process. You just need to run the process and your job is done.

Troubleshoot pdf adobe reader file to convert to doc and save to disk

I unfortunately have major issues with pdf files. I am not even certain how or why I am no longer able to use postscripts to view online pdf files which then enabled me to save as either a word docx or as in pages or in excell on my computer. Because many websites require adobe reader to view pdf files I downloader the adobe reader 11.0.04. Since then all online / htlm files can not be saved accordingly. In addition when I create a word, excell or page file and want to save it as a pdf on computer drive it only allows it to be saved to adobe online pdf.
I never signed up to have adobe save pdf files online. I do not have share file options or any type of online subscriptions. I checked my system preferences and do not have cloud documents checked off.
I want to find out is it possible to view, convert and save online web archieve and other pdf files without adobe. If so what and how.
What is the equivilant of a pdf converter app which I thought I had on my Mac. FYI using Mac book pro OS 10.8.5 not ready to go to 10.9.
I use Safari 80% of time and Firefox the rest of time but only when websites work with Safari.
If I were to eliminate adobe reader pdf plug in but wanted current disk saved files to open a pdf version what would happen? I admit I feel a bit behind in understanding pdf and webarchieve mechanics but am willing to learn. So if anyone can give me online learining tutorials that not only explain how but also provide video practice I would appreciate it.

Is there any way to find text highlighted in adobe reader and automatically copy it to comment boxes?

If I use a pdf highlighted in Adobe Reader (metro) in another PDF reading program, one with functionality to retrieve and list various annotations on the PDF, it simply finds "sticky note" as Adobe Reader highlights the text but fails to copy and paste it into a 'highlight' comment box. I intend to use another program with this feature automatic, from this point forward, but is there any way I can retroactively and automatically do this same task to all the other work I've done with Adobe Reader? It is, as I understand, a standard function of PDF annotation.
Of course, ideally, I would also like this to be automatic in the future, as the Adobe Reader Metro App is generally well-designed, touch-interface wise. But this lacking feature makes finding my comments a much greater hassle than it should be (as I can see where I highlighted, but not what without traveling directly to the page)
Also on a side note, I apparently can't delete a sticky note from within the app, what the hell

You cannot enforce something like that. You have some options when the field is set up to allow rich text formatting, but the user can always change it.

Adobe reader is not opening my word document stating that it is an unsupported document??????

Adobe Reader X Not Converting To / From PDF ?

I have a licensed copy of Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.08 which was purchased a couple of years ago & registered. I cannot now convert to / from PDF without being redirected to an obligatory online subscription. Why is this so ?

You probably had Adobe Acrobat, not Reader, which is indeed a paid product with the ability to convert to/from PDF files.
If you also installed Reader you can remove it and go back to using Acrobat, which has all the functionalities that Reader has, and more.

If you want to covert word to web page automatically, you can create a workflow activity using SharePoint Designer.

Adobe Reader X: Automatic update issue when after "FeatureLockDown set to disable Updater"

Background:
Have product installed on user PC "ProductName: Adobe Reader X (10.1.4) MUI", in way disabled the automatic updates under FeatureLockDown set to disable Updater. However, user still getting prompting updates message to invoking and install the updates, this NOT been expected as per our requirement.
Analysis points:
1.ARM Service is running as automatic mode
2.AdobeARM.log shows
Adobe ARM 1.6.5.0 logging started.
Command Line:
ProductCode: {AC76BA86-7AD7-FFFF-7B44-AA0000000001}
ProductName: Adobe Reader X (10.1.4) MUI
ProductVersion: 10.1.4
ProductUACPatching: disabled
Admin User, IsElevated returns 1
FeatureLockDown set to disable Updater.

Moreover, this update is experiencing repeatedly.

Solved it!
1-go to "edit", select Preferences.
2-select from the left pane: Security (enhanced)
3-click on "add folder path" button just below the big white box
4-pick a folder of your choice and click "ok". (your selected folder path will appear in that white box above the "add folder path" button in step 3)
5-if you want to add additional folders, just repeat steps 3 & 4
6-once you are done, click "ok" on the preferences screen and click "ok" again to accept the changes.
Yes, it seems illogical, but it worked.
I tested by closing the Reader (X), then surfed the web and did what Neher5 was explaining he/she wanted to do just after opening a pdf from a website and lo-and-behold, it worked!. No more "save to temp folder" issues.

Now, after Update to Adobe Reader X there is no drag&drop possible!!!

Installed Adobe Reader 9 in trouble with Word...

I am in trouble because I upgraded Adobe Reader to version 9, replacing the version 8 I was using with success! I work on an iMac.
I wrote a book on Word 2004 for Mac and if I move it on Word 2008, even if the configuration is the same, the pages come out differently and all messed up. I absolutely need to keep it on Word 2004 from which I cannot save my text as pdf because of Reader version 9, it is not available in the menu anymore.
Ok to uninstall it, but I cannot find the download for my previous version 8 on which the book was transferred for the editor and publisher.
On the CNET forum someone wrote that he was in trouble like me, that it was easy to uninstall version 9 but that it took him a lot of time to find version 8 to download. In fact, I search for it on Google but every time it seems I find it when I try to download I don't have the possibility to choose version 8, I click on 8 and get 9. I am a sort of desperate, It's urgent for me to send this book and this stupid problem drives me crazy. Would you mind helping me? Does some of you know where to download? Thank you so much!!! Reader has nothing to do with the creation of PDF's. It is for viewing them only.
Do you have Adobe Acrobat? If so, you'll want to bring this problem over to the Acrobat forum. This one is for the free Reader.

Adobe reader doesn't open when word is running

my adobe reader won't open when I have word open. It opens fine with other components of the office suite. I have windows 8 on my machine. I have tried running and accepting eula.exe but this had no effect. Any ideas?
