Adobe Reader 9 Software Size

Before downloading the Adobe Reader 9 software, the web page says 33.5 MB; but, after downloading my computer says 204 MB which is confirmed.
What is going on?

Most downloaded software that uses Windows Installer (recommended by
Microsoft) will end up with two, sometimes three, complete copies of
itself on disk. The exact size depends on how Windows manages the
Installer database, it can't really be said to be up to developers any
more. Pity.
> I have never before witnessed a software program that listed its compressed MB state and not stated its full decompressed MB.
Your experience does not match mine. It is considered good practice to
show the size in MB of a download so people can see how long it will
take; showing the size needed to install might be useful too.

No (except for the costs of having your legal team check the license). You do need to read the license carefully, you are making specific commitments and there are specific restrictions.

  • Adobe Reader print size reduced from page to page

When I try to print a pdf file using Adobe Reader 7.0.9
under Linux Fedora Core 6, I get the print size reduced
from page to page. After several pages, the whole page
text are centered and the words are too small to see.
I can print the pdf files perfectly with Adobe Reader
under windows, and all pdf files have the same problem
    with adobe reader under Linux.
I can look at pdf files using Document Viewer or KPDF
and these print correctly. I can also look at them
with KGhostView, but this prints in the same peculiar
way as Adobe Reader used to print.
If I choose to print a pdf file to a ps file,
this creates a ps file that prints just fine.
I don't have this printing problem until one day
I used a small "Scale: % of Normal Size"
in order to print a large size pdf picture.
I have a lot free space and the computer is networked.
    Thanks for help.

  • Adobe Reader font size when printing

I am having an issue with an employee and printing from Adobe Reader.  The user is using Windows 7 Ultimate on version 11.0.07 of Adobe.  She uses a program called certified mail where she prints addresses on to certified mail forms.  The font is extremely small.   She uses an HP Laserjet 1536 printer.  I have contacted HP and they showed me the Preferences>Commenting section to change the font in Adobe from size 10 to 14 but this still didn't help her problem.  This employee can print to a different network printer and it prints the fonts larger, the way they want them to be.  This seems to be to her local 1536 printer, which is attached via USB cable.
My question is, how do I change the size of the font to make it more legible?  When she prints these forms, it pops up in Adobe to print preview.  The preview fonts are very small.  I was told to change the resolution on the printer, but that will only show the preview as larger and not the actual print.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Is it legal to burn the adobe reader software if so how do i?

My grandfather has a computer but no internet access. He uses his computer solely for geneology, word processing, and organizational purposes. I recently found some historic public domain documents that i know that he would be very interested in; however, they are in pdf form and for him to view the documents he would have to have a pdf reader and as i said earlier he can't simply download the software. If anyone has any advice both my grandfather and myself would greatly appreciate. I only want to download and burn the reader software and possibly an older version because i am not sure his system can handle the specified requirements for 9.0.
    Many thanks,
    Coryishappy

    What OS is he running?
You can get Reader 7 at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.1.0/enu/AdbeRdr710_en_US.exe but if we know the OS, we can suggest the best version to run.
Oh and yes, for what you are using it for, it's legal.

  • Adobe Reader file size

forgive me for asking this but, when I go to download Adobe Reader it tells me on the Download page (without McAfee) the total size of the file is 37.86mb. But when I download it and install it its 211mb. is there a reason its much larger that what its telling me?
I checked by going into Add or Remove and checking.
is the file compressed of something before it's in stalled? if it is, then you guys should really tell the actually size of the file and what its going to take up on your computer because there's a big difference ... 173.14 mb give or take a byte.

They do mention how much space you need on your hard drive to install in the system requirements. The uncompressed file size is really inconsequential.

  • Adobe Reader software updates delivered via Config Manager

Hello. I've got a fleet of Windows 7 PCs running Reader X. I deploy software updates via Config Manager, and import the Adobe updates via SCUP. All my Windows 7 PCs are currently running version 10.1.1, however none of them are picking up Reader 10.1.3. The update just isn't being flagged as required... any ideas?
By the way, I did look at update path and nothing jumped out at me from there

Hello again, sorry the tardy reply.
SCCM reqs - yes. Pretty standard setup. Flash updates roll out without any issues.
    No errors - nothing happens.
    Exact steps:
    Receive SCUP alert
    Import Adobe updates
    Publish Updates
    Synch SCCM Software Updates
Deploy Adobe updates (as I siad, Flash updates are fine, so I don't see this as a SCUP problem).
That said, I deleted the Adobe updates from Config Manager, and then redeployed them as part of the standard monthly release. This time I received around 2100 installs and 3200 not required (this is about right for Adobe X), whereas before I was getting double figures for installs and mostly Not Required.
Perhaps I had received a bad update, or maybe something went wrong with the SCUP to SCCM import/packaging.
Anyway, all sorted... thank you for the response.

  • The memory for each PDF file does not add up to the Adobe Reader App size

Why does the memory for each individual PDF file (about 250 MB) not add up to the total memory (690 MB) of the Reader app for my iPad 2?

What version of Reader and OS X?

  • Can I obtain a CD-ROM with the latest revision of Adobe Reader for a Windows XP system w/ Service Pack 3. I do not want to go online with this system. I have dedicated it to read all of my PDF Files only.

I have 4 computer systems, 2 of which run under Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3. I have dedicated these systems to the task of reading all of my PDF Files which I have collected from my recent college career. The desktop system I want to use is an old Dell Optiplex GX240 with Acrobat Reader 4.0. The other Windows XP system I have is an old HP Laptop with Adobe Reader 8.1.4 installed. I want to update both systems to the latest version that is available for Windows XP w/Service Pack 3 installed. So, because I do not want to place these system online, would it be possible for me to obtain a copy of the Adobe Reader software I need on a CD-ROM? - Ken DeWitt, a 68-Year-Young Vietnam Veteran and recent college graduate...Summa Cum Laude.

  • Installing Adobe Reader on My Mac

I installed the free Adobe Reader (lateset version) on my Mac (my system requirements ARE compatible, and it said it was downladed sucessfully), but when I go to a site that requires Adobe Reader I get a message to install the Adobe Reader Software? Why?

    in   /Library/Internet Plug-Ins:
if you have both:  AdobePDFViewer.plugin  and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
rename one and then close safari, then open and retest.  if that fails, restore the first and rename the other.

  • Adobe Reader XI freezes when saving in Windows 8.1

I'm trying to update the editable fields in the US Federal tax forms using Adobe Reader XI on Windows 8.1 (PC - not a tablet).  I'm up-to-date on all Windows softward and Adobe Reader software.
I could save the original file downloaded from the irs.gov site with field edits, but after I saved the file locally, then reopened to edit again, it hangs every time I try to save the new edits.  I saw something like this happening last year for Windows RT...could this be a similar issue?
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks,
    DJ

I have no idea what this means; maybe you need to stop indexing?  Also try the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Non helpful screen announcement - "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept end user license agreement then quit and relaunch browser."

I recently updated my Mac operating system and now regularly get the above message whenever I click on website pdf(s).  I have tried to relaunch Adobe Reader - but nothing remotely resembling an end user license agreement ever shows up.  I can find nothing on the Adobe "help" sections that mentions anything about this problem.  Any suggestions?

Tried this any number of times.  I double click on the icon and nothing comes up - there is no lead, no directions, nothing comes up.  I click on page top menu bar and can access legal notice page - but no end user agreement page shows up.  Do I have to delete all Adobe Reader software and start over with a fresh download?

  • Adobe Reader latest version

Today I found out that Adobe Reader version 9 is not the latest version.  Apparently there are two more recent version series, 10 and 11.  Why when I have been selecting "Check for updates" would my current Adobe Reader software not inform me about these?
I'm hoping upgrading to version 11 will allow me to take advantage of the retina display on my new MacBook Pro.  Adobe 9 seems to be stuck in low resultion.  See attached screenshot.

Try downloading the installer directly - http://get.adobe.com/reader

  • Downloading Adobe Reader from distribution licence link - 404 page not found

I have recently applied for the Adobe distribution licence for Adobe Reader. This was successful, shortly after applying I received an email with the licence attached and a download link for Adobe Reader XI, The problem is the link doesn't work I just get 404 page not found, the link I cannot put on here as the licence will be broken.
    For full installers:
To download the English language version of Adobe Reader XI with Acrobat.com in compressed .exe format, click here.
You may not share the above link, share information with others, or publish the above link on websites, blogs, or by any other means that can be publicly accessed. The information contained on this site is meant for your use only in accordance with the Adobe Reader Distribution License Agreement you accepted. You may direct others to http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/rdr_distribution1.html to request distribution rights.
What i need to know is can anyone (from Adobe) send me a replacement link, can I re-apply for the licence to get another link or even better under this licence can I download the software from Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions instead. I have contacted Adobe chat support who directed me to phone support, phone support flat out refused to help and said the only support would be via this forum.
Hopefully someone here can answer my questions.
    Thanks all.

Brilliant thanks, I see nothing wrong with downloading from here, it even states "In order to distribute Adobe Reader software you need to have a valid Adobe Reader Distribution Agreement in place" which I do.
    Thanks again ~graffiti

  • Adobe Reader 9 - Can't Open Embedded Excel Links

I currently have Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and Microsoft Office 2007 installed.  I am able to open a PDF document using the Adobe Reader software but I am unable to open embedded links to Excel documents.  I receive the message that the document you are attempting to open may contain macros, etc. do you want to Open.  I click on Open and than receive a message that Windows can't find the *.xls document.  This happens on both a Windows XP and Windows 7 platform.  I tested this same process on an Windows XP machine with an older version of Adobe Reader and the links worked fine.  Any suggestions to resolve this problem.

The application doesn't actually integrate with Adobe Reader, it just opens it by calling it with the command line and using the filename as a parameter. The application only checks if the Reader's window raised an error.
