Adobe reader 9 unattended / silent

hello all,
could you please help me to install adobe reader 9 unattended oder in silent mode?
thank you very much in advance
michel.tudor

You can use the following command to install Adobe Reader 9 silently, suppressing the restart, accept the End User License Agreement and suppress the launch of Reader 9 once the installation has completed.
AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi"/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"

  • Adobe Reader X Silent Install

    Hey everybody!
I have a program that silently installs Adobe Reader 9.4 and it works wonderfully, but when I upgrade it to install Adobe Reader X the commands I use to run it don't work properly.  I get the Windows Installer help window pop up.  Here's what I'm running for 9.4:
    AdobeReaderInstallFile.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi "/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"
Does anybody know of the proper usage to get a true silent install for 10.0?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Command Line Switches for the Bootstrap  Web Installer for Reader are provided below:
    /sAll Silent Mode for product
/sPB Silent Mode with Progress Bar for product
    /rs Reboot Suppress
    /rps Reboot Prompt Suppress
    /ini "PATH" Alternative initialization file
/sl "LANG_ID" Set Language; LANG_ID - Code in decimal digits
/l Enable Error Logging.  Log file Bootstrap.log will be generated in temp directory
    /msi[Command line] Parameters for MSIEXEC
    AdobeReaderInstallFile.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi "/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"
This command line has parameters for both silent install (/sAll) as well as progress bar mode (/qb) which is useless. Also /rs and /norestart work the same way supressing the reboot.
SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES can also be removed as the checkbox for suppressing the application launch after install has been removed from the installer.
Moreover the quotes are not being recognised by the MSI Installer causing it to launch help window pop up.
So the command that can be used for silent install and suppressing EULA is:
    AdbeRdr_1000_en_US.exe /sAll /msi /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES

  • Force language same as operation system when install adobe reader X

We need to install adobe reader x English version or French version depend on language of user's operation system.
I know i can change langue to force it same as operation system after installation, it can be found Edit, pererfernce, language.
Is there anyway to force the option " same as operatio system" during operation system?

Is it possible to add abswitch /g langueID in the command line to force language same as OS language? How can I retrieve default OS langugeID?
    thanks

I have multiple problems with Windows 7 Professional x64 & the Adobe products installed on my machine (English).
I have a dual processor Intel Duo Core2 -  Dell Lattitude E6400XFR,  running Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1(English).
Adobe, & Adobe Reader are installed properly & function okay for the most part, save for the very newest & fanciest of documents. Mainly, the issue I have is that Adobe/Reader are constantly attempting to update, & are able to download a version recognized as newer than the current version installed, then will not install completely or at all. Once that occurs it will then immediately demand to be updated by this newer version. It's a crappy loop that I have become familiar with & is lame.
Either Adobe & Adobe Reader are problematic with Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 ENGLISH, or this dual processor Intel motherboard is the problem. The latter doesn't seem likely however, I have identified multiple problems with drivers & whatnot that do not function well or properly solely due to the motherboard. My Nvidia On Board GPU & the drivers & software would be the prime & most annoying example of something that hates my motherboard.
I hope this isn't "Hijacking" your post, I am having a problem that sounds similar to yours, the international/localization issue(s) notwithstanding.

I assume you are working from the enterprise install documents (I've never read them). You might find the Enterprise Deployment forum helpful: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/acrobat_enterprise_install

  • Deploying Adobe Reader 9.1.2 and 9.1.3 silently using switches in Langard

    I am having problems deploying the patches to Adobe Reader 9.1.0 using Langard 9.0 Build 20090709.  I deployed 9.1.0 without any issues using this switch: sAll /rs /l /msi" /qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"
I have tried multiple switches with the .msp packages.  I end of getting a Windows installer pop-up with switch examples in them in XP and 2000, Interactive Services pop-up in VISTA.  The updates do not install.
I chose install with alternative credentials and put in the domain admin and password.
If anyone out there has a working deployment of these updates done completely silent in Langard or now we are even open to active directory options also.  We have too many machines to be doing these at each work station.  Also, since they do not have admin privileges, automatic updates are not the answer.  Really for any enterprise.  Thanks.

  • Adobe Reader 9.3.2 silent install package questions, please ...

    Hello:
I am a network and Desktop Support person for a higher education facility.  I was asked to take over automating software application
    installs.
I have a script process, created by Auto-It (Scite script editor), that has been working well for Adobe Reader 9.1 with updates to 9.1.1, 9.1.2 and 9.1.3 (found on the Internet) -
    msiexec /i \\<server>\<path>\AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS=\\<server>\<path>\AcroRead_10132009.mst /passive /norestart /update \\<server>\<path>\AdbeRdrUpd911_all_incr.msp;\\<server>\<path>\AdbeRdrUpd912_all_incr.msp; \\<server>\<path>\AdbeRdrUpd913_all_incr.msp
      My questions:
Is there a similar process for installing Adobe Reader 9.3 silently and then updating to 9.3.2?
If so, what are the steps, ex. expand/extract the initial 9.3 .EXE, then create a transform using Orca/<transform making of choice>, etc.?
With having read of some issues in this forum regarding Adobe Reader 9.3.2, should I continue using 9.1.3 and wait?
      Thank you for your time.

Well we have a wiki where I work, and here is then entry I have created on how to deploy Adobe Reader. See if any of this helps, if not, we'll take it from there.
    Deployment
It is HIGHLY recommended that you read and follow the directions of the deployment guide provided by Adobe located at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/deploying_reader9.pdf. The documentation located here is simply for a quick reference for those who have already read the guide.
The rights to distribute Adobe Reader must be obtained by filling out the form found at http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/rdr_distribution1.html. After filling out the form and being accepted to distribute Adobe Reader, you will receive an email with a link to download the redistributable version of Adobe Reader. You will be prompted to download a .exe package containing the Reader MSI file. The general form of the command to convert a Nosso-compressed file to an MSI package is:
    <path to>\AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe [<switches>...]
    Switch
    Description
    -nos_ne
Do not execute any file after installation (overrides the -e switch) This switch should be used if user only wants to extract the installer contents and not run the installer.
    -nos_o
Specifies the name of folder where the contents of the expanded package are to be placed. The folder name should be enclosed in quotation marks. It is best if you do not use an existing folder, and there should be no space following the “-nos_o”.
    For example:<path to>\AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe -nos_o”TestFolder” -nos_ne
Using the extracted MSI, create an Administrative Installation Point (AIP) using the command-line:
    msiexec /a <path to>\AcroPro.msi transforms=<path to>\AcroPro.mst
The AcroPro.mst transform file is created by the Adobe Customization Wizard 9
You can apply any patches that may have been released since the major version release. Use the command-line:
    msiexec /a <path to>\AcroPro.msi /p <path to>\AdbeRdrUpd931.msp;<path to>\AdbeRdrUpd932.msp
Once all this is complete, you can fully deploy the software by running the command-line:
    <path to>\AcroRead.msi transforms=<path to>\AcroRead.mst /qb
More information can also be found in the Enterprise Administration Guide

  • [How To] Silent Install | Adobe Reader 11.0.1

Download the latest Adobe Reader exe from FTP
    - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/
    - 11.x > 11.0.01 > en_US > AdbeRdr11001_en_US.exe
** I recommend using a VM for the following **
Copy the EXE to your virtual machine.
Run the EXE, but do not click 'Next'
Go to Start and run and type '%ProgramData%\Adobe\Setup' and hit OK.
Here you will find the extracted installation files in a folder '{AC76.....}'
Copy these files to another location.
Once copied to another location, you can cancel the setup.
Open the 'AcroRead.msi' in Adobe Customization Wizard XI.Adobe Customization Wizard XI download.ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz11000_en_US.exe
Make any changes necessary for your environment.Such as Silent, accept EULA, supress reboot, disable product updates, etc.
Once all changes are complete, go to 'Transform' and then 'Generate Transform'
Save this file as 'AcroRead.mst' in the same directory.
Go to file and 'Save Package' to save the MSI.
The setup.ini will now include 'TRANSFORMS=AcroRead.mst'
Being that you made the customized MST file, you can now run the 'Setup.exe' and it will pull whatever settings you created. If you chose to do silent, it will run as that. You can now deploy this through SCCM as a package, or deploy through Group Policy.
This is one method for producing a deployable package. Option 2 is downloading the latest MSP from the FTP and applying through the main 11.0.0 MSI. There will not be one MSI provided from Adobe for updates such as this, but rather the additional MSP files.
    I hope this helps.

Updated version to deploy updates and customizations through GPO:
Download the latest Adobe Reader Multilingual msi installer and msp updates:
    - Adobe Reader 11.0 - Multilingual (MUI) installer         135MB         10/14/2012
    - Adobe Reader 11.0.01 update - Multilingual (MUI) installer     10.5 MB     1/8/2013
Copy these files to the same location.
Open the 'AcroRead.msi' in Adobe Customization Wizard XI.
            Adobe Customization Wizard XI download.
                ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz110 00_en_US.exe
Make any changes necessary for your environment.
Such as Language, Silent, accept EULA, supress reboot, disable product updates, etc...
Once all changes are complete, go to 'Transform' and then 'Generate Transform'
Save this file as 'AcroRead.mst' in the same directory.
Go to file and 'Save Package' to save the MSI.
On your local computer, launch this command to encapsulate the .msp update into the .msi installer from a DOS command prompt :
    msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp
Copy the folder in a share and configure GPO using the msi package and mst file

  • Silently Uninstalling Adobe Reader 9

    Hi all,
I am looking to silently uninstall Adobe Reader 9 due to the same exact problems posted in the below link:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5c482
*It's the C++ Visual Runtime Error due to the appdata folder redirection.
Does anyone have a way to uninstall with either the Adobe Customization Wizard 9 (which I used to roll it out) or do I need to work with msiexec and it's parameters? I will be uninstalling from all Windows XP-based machines if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Joey

    Hi Masakonishimoto,
You can try using tAcrobat Cleaner tool to remove all traces of previous version of reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    Hope this helps,
Please let me know in case of any problem.

  • Adobe Reader crashes Adobe AIR Application silently

    Hey,
here at my agency we stumbled about a very strange bug:
A program that we're developing needs to constantly show many types of media: Images, Video, Websites and PDF.
Its some kind of presentation tool and cycles through the media-objects in its playlist until the programm is quit.
    Now heres the problem:
After a number of pdfs have been shown the program just quits without any error or anything - it's just gone.
This happens only after a huge number of pdfs have been shown.
We think it might have to do with a limitation of the Adobe Reader which we are using through the Webkit Object in AIR.
It might be that the garbage collector don't recognize that we aren't showing a PDF anymore after switching the source-url of the Webkit Object and the PDF remains opened - I don't know.
Here we have written a little Application that does nothing else then switching between two PDFs constantly - after about an hour the app crashes silently - it just quits without an error.
In some cases the whole windows machine freezes.
This is a very strange bug which we CAN'T debug since its very likely caused by Adobe Reader (or AIR)?!
Here you can download the test application source

    Hi jhdfhdncjdsnc,
What is the current version of Reader installed on your machine.
Have you tried to uninstall and Reinstall or have you tried to update to the latest version.

  • How to silent Upgrade Adobe Reader from 10.1.4 to 10.1.8?

    Hi,
my problem is that i have 10.1.4 and I want 10.1.8.
If I understood this right: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-10.html
Acrobat (Formula = Base release + latest quarterly + latest out of cycle patch)
    Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.8 (Q)
    Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.5 (Q) > 10.1.6 (OOC)
    Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.0.1 (Q) > 10.0.3 (OOC)
    Unacceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.0 (Q) > 10.1.8 (Q) <<<<<<<<<<
It will only work if I uninstall 10.1.4 first before I can install 10.1.8.
Now to uninstall 10.1.4 i need the GUID found here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Installer
How do I have to do write my script, so it will identify the GUID of any newer version of the Reader?
    ### It looks like this:

    D:\Test\Adobe_Patch_Daten\AdbeRdr1014_de_DE.exe -nos_oD:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\ -nos_ne /sAll

  • Silent install for adobe reader version 110003

silent install for adobe reader version 110003

    Hi,
I don't know your more details about how you pretend to deploy your Adobe Reader but I did this to my current deployment and many people on the company are happy with this:
1- I extracted the contents from the Adobe Reader installer.
2- I modified the MSI using Customization Wizard to hide some menus (Maybe you can skip this step if you don't need to customize it)
3- On SCCM 2012 I created a Script deployment with a CMD file which contains the following command for silent install. (You don't need to have an SCCM infrastructure to deploy it but it will help)
    start /wait msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    or
    msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    - On my case I used %~dp0 because I'm installing from a server caching files on client machines but if you pretend to test and install it locally avoid using: %~dp0 and put your absolut path. Like C:\Temp or your MSI and source files location.
    - Start /wait - Will execute your MSI installer file and then once is finished will proceed with the next command if any.
    - Transforms- will force the MSI to apply the custom settings I did on Customization Wizard)
    - PATCH- command will proceed to install the patches you may have at the moment 11.0.1, 11.0.2, etc...
Hope this will help you !
