Adobe Reader 9 won't download off internet

I have adobe reader 9 and everytime I try to download a pdf off the internet, nothing comes up. Should I download the Adobe Reader 9.3? Is that the problem? or Should I try something else?

We are having the same problem with my wife's netbook running Windows 7 starter. I have uninstalled adobe reader 9 and downloaded it again but still the same problem.

    Thanks Cliff

I have had the same problem with Safari. It doesn't happen when I use Chrome. I found this site and Google translated it www.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp [FAQ: よくある質問] 【Mac環境】Safari上でPDFファイルが閲覧できない
to basically say, quite Safari. Open Adobe Reader and accept the license agreement, then re-open Safari. So far so good!

  • Adobe Reader Won't Download On Windows 7

    Worked ok on Vista, After
installing Windows 7 (Clean & Install) Adobe Reader won't install on windows 7, goes through the process says 100% installation complete, then nothing. Any ideas.

I havent faced this issue as such on my WIN 7 OS. Worked fine for me.
You might be able to find the cause behind the problem by creating the error log for the installer, using the following commandline switch:
    AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe /l
the "\l" switch will create an error log (if any) in the temp directory. (%temp% \ BootStrap.log)
If you can share the log details, it may help in deciphering what exactly is the root cause behind your problem.

  • Please Help!! Adobe Reader WON'T download!!

    I cannot download Adobe Reader.
Message shows Installation Error - failed to initialise?

You may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Then, download the Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    and perform a clean install.

  • Re: Adobe Reader Won't Download On Windows 7

I'm also having that problem.  Ado9be Reader is not in my Program Files even after trying repeatedly to downoad it even through the installer already mentioned.  There is also what may be an unusual twist...When I try to download or open a .pdf file, the file goes to Adobe Photoshop.  It shows on a patterened background and so small as to be virtually illegible.

    rhettay,
Download Reader from here: http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.3/enu/AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe and double click the installer.
This should install Adobe Reader on your machine. If you face any problem now, post the exact error message.
Otherwise, once you have reader installed on your machine pdf files should get associated with reader as the default application. If not, then right click any pdf file, select Open With..., choose Adobe Reader and set it as the default application from the Open With dialog box.

  • Adobe Reader won't download and PDFs won't open

All of a sudden I cannot open PDFs, so I have tried to download Adobe Reader XI and it gets to 78% then fails. It will not give me a reason for the failed installation, and when I try to open PDFs I get a message that says "Acrobat failed to load its core DLL." Now I cannot open PDFs, and I feel like I have tried everything to correct the problem - I tried on chrome, IE, and Firefox, I enabled JavaScript, I don't have virus scanners blocking it, and I am at a loss of what to do. Help!

As for the failing download, try the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

I bought a pdf book last year and had no problem reading it for a few months then all of a sudden I could no longer open it and to this day. Any other pdf download off internet I can still open and read, except for that particular book. Operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium, Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07.  When trying to open file I get msg "You did'nt login or your session has expired. Please log in to read this document for the first time". (Like I said I have read it before). So I log in but that prompts me to give the name of the file I want to export or convert to Word or something else, which is not what I want to do of course. I have not purchased any service from Adobe or Acrobat as I only need to read. Thanks for your help..

adobe reader won't open because of error - NEED PDF READER NOW!!!!!!!!!

The reason is Adobe has not updated there software yet to play well with Mavericks. The fault is of course with the Adobe Software. I suggest you go to there web site and see if they have a fix yet for there software, If not all you can do is continue to check back with them or get on there fourms and see what others have to say about this same issue.

My Adobe Reader wouldn't download tickets.  Tried opening Adobe Reader application but it would not open.  I saw my Adobe Reader needed to be updated, so I attempted to install new Adobe Reader.  When it came to finalizing, it said there is an error and can't do.  Any ideas?  I have no functioning Adobe reader.  Should I uninstall old Adobe Reader and then try installing the updated AR?

  • Adobe Reader won't open

just posted a long question (1st time on this forum) & been sent here after creating a username - do I really need to re-type everything all over again or can someone there see it?
    just in case.....
Adobe Reader won't open - I eventually get a message saying there is no default mail client & telling me to run Outlook & set it as the default mail client (I'm not going to do that).  I then get a message saying that Adobe is not responding.  Uninstalled & re-installed & problem persists.

Since you mention Outlook, I assume that you are on Windows.  Here are some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

There are multiple problems with these forums, and unfortunately things like that happen all the time (to all of us).

  • Adobe reader 9.4.0 requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater

    Hello,
I have a user who has reported Adobe Reader was not installed on his PC, which we complete via GPO as default for all our computers, and has never been an issue (WinXP and Win7 (x64) ).  When attempting to install the reader manually, I received "Adobe reader 9.4.0 requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater"  This is a Win7 box.  It comes with IE 8!  Can anyone point me to the registry path the installer is looking for to determine the version of IE?  I've checked HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and verified both "Version" and "W2kVersion" read 8.0.7601.17514.
I realize Reader X is available.  We're not ready to deploy it yet.  So any suggestion other than simply "install Reader X"  is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks for your time.

I know I'm considerably late to the reply here, but I had the same issue with a Reader X install done via GPO.  This may be relavent info for the future, and may work for Reader 9 as well
I read that someone had tried running the command line uninstall for an older version of reader, as it seemed to have not been removed completely.  I threw together a batch file to attempt to remove all the reader installs we had available along with the font packs.  Some of the font packs won't remove unless reader is present, so it re-installs the latest reader, removes the font packs again (to get whatever it missed) then reloads the font packs.
So far this approach is 1 for 1.  Hopefully it helps out if you still need it.
rem For ease of use, run this from an elevated command prompt
rem Try to remove all adobe reader related items

rem This must be updated manually to reflect the new version.
    msiexec /i "\\deployment\adobe reader\10.1.1\acroread.msi" /passive
rem Try to remove font packs again because some of them fail if reader isn't installed
    msiexec /x "\\deployment\adobe reader\font packs 10\adberdrsd1000_all.msi" /passive

  • Why can't I open PDFs anymore and Adobe Reader won't install.

Why can't I open PDFs anymore and Adobe Reader won't install? This happens only in Safari. I have tried changing my security preferences but it doesn't help.

    missyzz,
which version of OS X is installed on your Mac, and which version of Adobe Reader do you have installed? Did you ensure that all of your browsers were not running when you’d installed Adobe Reader?
To use Preview to open PDFs, download the PDFs to your Mac, and then use Preview to open the PDFs locally. Since you can open PDFs in Firefox, it sounds like you don’t need the Preview workaround.
