Adobe Reader/Acrobat Printing Issues - Weird Fonts / Characters - all versions

Hi everybody.
I'm experiencing a very nasty issue with both adobe reader (last version) and acrobat.
When I print something with text, i get only strange characters, mostly symbols.
I cannot get out of this, I tried everything.
Already tried
1) print as image does not works, it's the same
2) the box in pdf printer " print only with fonts on pc" is checked
3) reinstalled both adobe applications
3) reinstalled printer drivers
4) i've installed and reinstalled those so called missing fonts but nothing
Next step is to change PDF reader. Any help?

unfortunately it didn't work.
It's weird how an application (company) like this could not provide those kind of such easy fixes. I'm not expecting updates or so, but at least a troubleshooting paragraph about this specific problem.
This problem is well known, there are plenty of pages talking about it.
I just installed Foxit reader and printed pages were perfect. This demonstrate's Adobe Reader/Acrobat fault.

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat forms issues!

This is a long one, and I know it's been posted before, but I just wanted to try again anyway.
I've just created a form using Adobe Designer, one that contains fields that someone can fill out when the form is open with Adobe Reader. The form I've created specifically is for a medical practice, and the first few fields are the doctor's last name, first name, and middle initial. Is there any way that, when I click Save As, a file name is automatically created in the Save As box that contains the last name, first name, and middle initial? I'd like the file name to look like this: LastName-FirstNameMiddleInitial.
Also, this is a form that the people who work at this practice will be using regularly. After the doctor's name fields are a few fields for the date, time in, and time out. Right now, we'd like the date to look like this: 07-16-2008. We'd also like the time in and time out to look like this: 12:00. I'd like it so that, if some data entry person at this medical clinic is tying in the date, and, say, they type in the date as 07/16/2008, it is automatically formatted to 07-16-2008 with the hyphens. Same with the time. Everyone types things in differently, and I'd love to know what I need to do so that it's automatically converted to the date/time design I listed above.
The form also contains an electronic signature field. The purpose of the signature field is mainly to expand on the services we offer in terms of going paperless. We want to help our clients STAY paperless, which means preventing the need to print off more paper. This form I'm working on is for a medical practice and is simply a doctor's form, with field for the doctor's name, date/time, a field for any info the doctor would like to input, and then the electronic signature field.
After the PDF is created, it is more than likely saved, which presents other problems, as I've now learned you can't save with Adobe Reader.
As far as looking up data on the form in the future is concerned, I'm pretty sure that's a big yes. I don't know that this particular PDF would be updated constantly, but I'm sure it will need to be retrieved at some point. How can the data be inputed so it can be retrieved from a database?
I've heard some talk about JavaScript in regards to this issue, as well. How exactly do I go about providing JavaScript? I know how to create a button in Designer, but I've had little experience with JavaScript. I've downloaded a program (PF Merge?) that might allow me to link the form I've created to a database, but I'm not sure how it works yet. Is that what you were referring to as far as our comments about an SQL database is concerned? Is there another way I can create a connection to a database, say, a slightly easier way?
    Help!

Interesting.  I did just do the Reduce File Size and extended the document and there were no dialog boxes when I saved my data.  The file size got larger instead of smaller and I received the message at the end of the Reduce File Size cycle that said " Enforcement of compatability to an earlier version of Acrobat has increased the size of some images".  There is an image in the file, not one that I added, but from the original document.  No change to the image either.  No biggie to me.  As long as my users can fill out the form and come back to it later to make changes, I'm happy!
Thank you.  I think that solved it!

  • Adobe Reader X - Print Issues

Hi - I've searched the forums for a likely answer but came up with a blank.
We have updated to Adobe Reader X and when we print a pdf, the actual words print as a series of randon numbers and letter. We print to an HP Photosmart All in One Printer. However when we print to a Cannon Printer, it's OK. Can anyone throw light on this for us as it's proving to be a nightmare.
    Cheers

Thanks v much Twilight - once I had posted the question I saw the same issues were posted by another.
I'll try the print as image under the advanced print tab and see how I get on with that. Hopefully Adobe will bring out a fix soon.
    Thanks again.

  • Adobe Reader X printing issue

    Hi there,
since we implemented Adobe Reader X in our testing invironment, we habe a printing issue with some of our printers.
In our main network we use Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and with that version therer are no problems with any printer.
Even if a document was printed by a user as more than 1 example, on some printers Adobe Reader prepares the document the many times the user wants to print it. E.g. the user wants to print it out 5 times, Adobe Reader prepares it 5 times for the printer, then it would be printed out.
This is a major problem if a user wants to print out documents with more than 20 pages more than 50 times...
This problem first appear with Version X of Adobe Reader and I didn't find anything about that.
Can anybody help us with that. If more information is regarded, I would to my best to publish...
    Regards

Can nobody help with this request?

  • Adobe Reader 9 printing issue

My printing preferences are to print from the last page and to have a preview prior to printing. It is set that way in the Printer area of the control panel. Adobe Reader does not recognize that preference. I need to select those options each time I print a PDF file or it doesn't do it. We recently got a new computer and that is when the problem started. We have Windows 7, 64 bit and use IE8. Thanks for any help offered.

    Hi, ak glacier.
I can almost guarantee what will fix the problem.  I came on here to create a case to explain this scenario, constant thumbnails, etc. and look for help, but I'm relatively certain that one or both of these will fix the issue.
On the Adobe Reader window, hit the Advanced button, and check "Print As Image".  Though this does take a bit longer to send the document to the printer it will fix this issue 99% of the time in my experience.  That will also fix constant thumbnails and mirror image thumbnails.  The latter may also occur when "Choose paper source by PDF page size" is selected.  "Print As Image" should override that, but if not, also try unchecking "Choose paper source..." and pick the page size in either page setup or the properties of the driver.
As a note to others that may stumble across this, I have seen this issue occur on multiple HPs, Canons, Konicas, and Toshibas (usually postscript drivers) with Adobe Reader 7, 8, and 9.  I have yet to narrow down what causes it further.

  • Adobe Reader 8 - Print issue to specific printer

    Hi,
I have a RISO 5000 printer and everytime I attmept to print from Adobe Reader, the program will crash and the document does not print. The printer will print from any application other than this. We are using Adobe Reader 8 on Windows XP machines. How can I fix this?
    Thanks for the help!
    Jeremy

I put this aside. The only thing I can think of, is installing earlier verisons and testing those. I'm not sure Adobe will assist on this issue since Adobe Reader is a free program. I'll post any solutions that come this way.

Sounds like you need to select document and markups in the print menu.

  • When I Print a PDF, Adobe Reader X Prints Doc As A Very Small Version

I have a Lexmark Interact S605 All In One Printer.  When I scan documents as a pdf, and go to print, the actual document does not even fill the page.  In fact it's a very small version of the document in the middle of the page.  How do I somehow change the Page Scaling to "Fit To Printable Area?"  It's embarrassing when I send these documents out to clients and they come back to me and say that these pdfs are very small on the page and do not even come close to filling up the entire page as a pdf should.  Are there settings that I can change so that when I print a pdf, it will Fit To Printable Area each time???  Thank you in advance for any help on this question.  [email protected]

Try deleting the Adobe plugin and use the built in Preview. Hard drive level Library/Internet Plugins. If it isn't there, check your user Library.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library.

Hi ravindra, what i can suggest you is to set a breakpoint just before ur cursor goes into the pdf part and just comment the part when it comes to the popup. its very easy and the best way to do it.

  • Adobe Reader X: print to HP Plotter only on A4 Paperformat possible

    Hi,
after installing Adobe Reader X  I cannot print any other paper format than A4 to my HP designjet Plotter 750c (E/A0).
Changing Paper Format in printer driver has no effekt in the printing dialog of Adobe Reader X.
Printing from Adobe Reader X to my other Printer Ricoh MPC2050 I can change between A5 to A3 without Problems.
With the old version Adober Reader 9.xx this was no problem and I could print all paper formats HP750c Plotter supports.
Adobe Reader X runs hier on a Windows XP system. Other software like autocad works well with HP750c Plotter with als supported paper formats.
HP Plotter Designjet 750c driver for Windows XP has version 4.65 (latest german version on HP website)
Has anybody any Ideas, where there ist the Problem?
    Thanks for your help

I have just found this post and am still experiencing this problem, still, even after updating to 10.1, and still trying the disabling of Protected Mode at startup. I am running Windows 7, 32bit version. I am trying to print to an HP 4500 series plotter, on ARCH size D (24x36). Once I set all of my settings and hit print, I receive two dialogue boxes. One says "The document could not be printed." Once you click "OK", a second box pops up that says, "There were no pages selected to print." However, under "Print Range", I had "All" selected.
All worked fine before updating to Acrobat X.
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Adobe Reader X prints large black spots in large documents

I have a user with Windows XP SP3 and Adobe Reader X.  When he prints a catalog with images, it randomly prints large black spots throughout the document.  If I print one of the individual pages that had black spots, it prints fine.  Are there any known issues that would cause this or does anyone have any suggestions?  He is printing to a Toshiba eStudios 5520c copier.  No one else has the problem printing to this printer but, he is the only one using Adobe Reader to print catalogs to this printer.  Everyone else printing catalogs to this printer use at least Adobe Pro of some version (the versions differ between users).  I have increased the size of the page file and reinstalled the printer driver.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for providing the information.
Could you please try and reinstall the printer driver on this user's machine and see if it solves the issue.
Also, do all PDFs with images produce the same output from this user's machine?
Would it be possible for you to share any such PDF? I have sent you my email address as a Private Message.

  • Adobe Reader & Acrobat 6~9 Group Policy ADM file (only applied once?)

Hi folks. I created the below ADM template last month based on some of the ones I have seen elsewhere. I import the ADM file to use with Group Policy and make the necessary settings (need to uncheck "Only show policy settings that can be fully managed" to see it in GPO Editor).
Anyway, when the user logs on it stamps them with the desired registry setting (bEnableJS value 0). Yay! But I notice that if a user re-enables JavaScript in Adobe Reader/Acrobat and then logs off and back on again (reboot or logoff/on) the registry setting does not get re-applied. All other pre-existing Group Policies get applied and doing a gpresult or rsop.msc has everything looking as though it did get applied.
I notice that if I manually do a "gpupdate /force" to a logged on system the setting appears to be reapplied (need to reconfirm this though). Has anyone expierienced similar with their ADM templates for this? Perhaps I am missing something? Appreciate any help/advice.

Hey, what you have described is normal behaviour for the way you have written your Custom ADM file.
Because you are not using Proper Windows Policies, i.e. Setting them in the policy location in the registry, then once you apply a setting, it will not get over written again ever unless you made a group policy change or do a gpupdate.
Normal group policies will get re-applied depending on the time frame set in the policy its self.
