At this point Adobe does not provide a 64 bit IE add-in for Adobe Reader.

  • Adobe Reader 9.5 - IE9 32 bit Red X on certain PDF'S?

Hello all. On a particular site I use, I can access and open some PDF's, but there are some that appear to combine an FDF and PDF "flat file" on the fly, and now when I click these links, I get a red x in my window instead of the pdf. I downgraded to Adobe Reader 9.5 (windows 7, from Adobe 11) thinking that might help, but after a remove/re-install, the issue remains.
If I disable the browser helper in order to try and force Adobe to open instead of displaying the PDF in browser, I get a little placeholder image instead of the red x, but no PDF.
Here is the kicker...in IE64 bit, the pdf link opens the PDF just fine. Chrome does too. I must use 32 bit IE for the site however, so I was hoping to find a fix. I tried repairing Adobe, I tried running with no add-ons in the browser...I think I have tried all of the basic stuff listed here, but I still cannot seem to open the PDF.
I may look for a system restore point soon and see if this helps, but I figured I would ask here if anyone had an idea why 32bit would not work but 64 bit and Chrome would.

That makes no sense, as the Adobe Reader add-on is 32-bit only.  I cannot view any PDFs on 64-bit browsers with the Adobe Reader plugin.
Do you have any alternate PDF viewer installed?

  • Adobe Reader Add-in Crashing IE 9 CRM Dynamics 2013

    All,
So basically we are upgrading to CRM 2013 for Microsoft Dynamics. Some users who have IE 9, company default, when they try to get to the CRM dynamics server in IE 9, it crashes. Microsoft determined that the Adobe Reader Add - In was causing it to crash. If one either resets the browser back to default, or disable the Adobe Reader addin, it works.
Any suggestions things to look at? Fix?
    Thanks
    Gordon

Are you running the 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer?  The add-on is 32-bit and can only run on 32-bit editors.

  • Adobe acrobat add ons does not work with latest firefox

I have been using firefox because of my adobe acrobat add ons.. I alwasy convert pages to adobe pdf using my acrobat. It works with firefox 4.0 but it does not work anymore with latest firefox.
Can you help me with this?

Maybe if you read about privacy, policy and sharing of data you'd change your mind. But it was reported that it appeared to work if you used something like the "Add-ons Compatibility Reporter".
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter]" extension, or with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility extensions.checkCompatibility] using about:addons.

  • IE crashes when closing, doesn't happen with Reader add-ons disabled

I'm currently testing out Adobe Reader v11.0.2 before installing it to all the computers at the school.  It seems to be working perfectly fine.  Internet Explorer on the test computer crashes every time I try to close it.  While trouble-shooting that error, it turns out to be a problem with Adobe Reader add-on.  When I disable it, IE closes just fine.  When I re-enable the Reader add-on, IE starts to crash again.
    OS: Vista Business 32-bit
    IE: 8
    Need any other info?

I'm not viewing any kind of PDF.  I simply open Internet Explorer, view any website, and then close IE.  As it is closing, it pops up a message saying that an error has occurred.  When I disable the Adobe Reader add-on, it doesn't crash.
Here is the event log from the Windows Application Log Event Viewer...
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 8.0.6001.19412, time stamp 0x51306ca3, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18541, time stamp 0x4ec3e3d5, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0003dd6d, process id 0xfc4, application start time 0x01ce4c32936d4d09.
I have uninstalled Reader 11 and the problem has completely disappeared.  I'll play with this some more, but it looks like we won't be using this version here at the school any time soon.

This is very annoying and we need this stopped as we have made no changes to any of the adobe files. Please advise how to do this.

I first tried the version without the deflated stream (so everything uncompressed) against the online repair tool to check/analyse it @ https://www.pdf-tools.com/osa/repair.aspx
And it says no error found, but the reader still want to save it when closing so i still had no clue at this point.
Fortunately, i finally found what was wrong with my generated PDF.
In my xref table, each object reference was not end by a full EOL, i only did put a newline char.
Now i have "carriage return" "newline" which is the full EOL and the reader is happy and close the file silently.
As suspected i did not follow correctly the specs on xref table
Now i'll go and figure what i did wrong with the deflate filter
    Thanks for your help.

  • Disable Adobe Reader Add-on in IE Won't Work

    Hi,
I’m having an issue where I can’t disable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on in IE through GPO.
What happens is the add-on says that it is disabled, but PDFs still open inside of IE.
If I don’t apply any policy, and manually disable it, it works fine (PDFs open in their own Adobe Reader application).
    The policy I’ve applied is Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Security Features/Add-on Management/Add-on List.
I’ve entered {CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000} for the Adobe Reader add-on, and gave it a value of 0.
I’ve also enabled Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Security Features/Add-on Management/All Processes, thinking that might help.
I’ve done this in both the Computer and User settings.
If anyone can tell help me with this I’d really appreciate it.
I’ve spent a lot of time on this, and I seem to be getting nowhere.
    Thanks

I installed Adobe Reader XI, imported this ADMX, but it didn’t work.
Even with that option set, PDFs still opened in IE.
I read that part way through the releases of Adobe X and into XI, Adobe moved the option to display PDFs in the browser out of the Adobe options and into the browser itself.
I installed the Adobe Reader X Customization Tool, and set the option in there to not display in the browser.
I’ll use this custom installer to deploy it, and keep watching/testing to see if I can get it to work in a newer release later on.

  • Internet Explorer Adobe PDF Reader Add-ons

We have Adobe Acrobat 9.5.1 version and from Internet
Explorer (Tools> Manage Add-ons), Adobe PDF Reader publisher shows "Control name is
not available" .  I tried to open web-based PDF form but it error out.
How can I fix this IE add-ons issue?

  • Having to disable Adobe PDF Reader add-ons then enabling it.

After updating through 11.0.02 -> 11.0.03 -> 11.0.07 (Not currently on 11.0.10), and before I go any further, we also are using IE11 w/Enterprise Mode and the latest version of Chrome. Also, users have Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.09. PDF's are set to open in Adobe Reader. Well, after updating Adobe Reader with the versions mentioned above, a user will open IE or Chrome and click on a link that should open a .PDF in another window or give the option to download it. When this happens, sometimes all the content can't be interacted with or it just doesn't open. The ONLY way I know of to fix this is to go in to IE, manage add-ons or Chrome://plugins, disable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, close the browser, open the browser and enable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, restart the browser again. At that time, will the PDF's open properly.
Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening? One of the reasons I don't like to push out Adobe Reader updates in our district during the school year is because of this reason.
    Thanks

I have removed the "Assumed Answered" status.
But unfortunately I don't know what the cause of your problem could be.

  • Adobe Reader add-on does not appear in IE9

After updating Adobe reader 11, I can no longer open pdf in Explorer (works in Chrome).  When I go to Manage Add-Ons, Reader does not appear on the list, therefore I can't enable or disable.
Any suggestions on how to get it to appear and work in IE9?  This was never an issue prior to the "upgrade"

  • Only Adobe Reader 8 works on 64-bit Vista. Help!

Adobe Reader 9 and X cause MS Outlook, Word & Excel 2010 to crash on my Vista 64-bit computer. I must use Adobe Reader v. 8 to stop the problem. Is there anything I can do to use Reader 9 & 10?

Sounds strange that there is a crash issue. If you have not updates Reader X, that might take care of it. For more questions on Reader, try the Reader forum.

  • Adobe Reader add-on is current, Firefox 35.0.1 reports vulnerable and suggests updating it

I have updated the Flash and Reader apps and plug-ins. The current Reader version is 10.1.4.38. Firefox insists that it is needing updating, even though I just updated it. The Reader installer reports that the current version is installed every time I run it again. I had the same problem with Flash, but when I updated it again after upgrading Firefox to 35.0.1 it was now accepted by Firefox. The current version for Flash is 16.0.0.305. What can I do to make Firefox accept that 10.1.4.38 is the current version of Reader?
My ability to be online is sporadic. I will answer any questions or try any requests as I am able to read the emails. Please bear with me, as I do wish to correct this issue. Firefox is, and has been since Netscape 2.0, my favorite browser. I want to help keep it the best browser out there.
    Thank you,
    WayneCa

10.1.4 is not the current (came out back Aug 2012 ) but is is the last full version they provide for download of the 10.0 version however they due have update file for 10.x
Adobe Reader 10.0 to 10.1.'''5'''.* has been blocked for your protection. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/blocked/p158 (Blocked on October 5, 20'''12''')
There is Adobe Reader 11.0.10 though it seems like Adobe still provides only 10.1.4 and not any current full 10.x version http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/ yet newer 10.x versions update files are at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows including the 10.1.13 which came out on Dec 9, 2014.

  • Adobe Reader adds lines to my graphics

    Hi,
I couldn't find this topic elsewhere, so here goes...
My pdf export from Pages works fine, and I can open it in Preview and print to many different printers with good results.
But when viewing the document in Adobe Reader, there are lines around all the objects that have Picture Frames applied to them. When printing from Reader the lines print as well, ruining the document's printed appearance.
Here's what I see and print from Pages and Preview (zoomed in screen grabs):
Here's what I see and print from *Adobe Reader*:
I get this with every object within picture frames (pictures, text and vector art) when viewing and printing from the Adobe Reader on Mac and PC. And of course, my PC clients use Adobe Reader or Acrobat, so it shows up everywhere.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Hi Walt,
Did some testing and discovered that some picture frame effects do not render properly in Adobe Reader, others work fine, your mileage may vary. For example, here are 3 frame effects applied to the same art in Pages, *exported as .pdf*, and *viewed in Preview* (screen grabs, 100% scale):
    !http://homepage.mac.com/podzone/forums/PreviewTest4051308.jpg! !http://homepage.mac.com/podzone/forums/PreviewTest6051308.jpg! !http://homepage.mac.com/podzone/forums/PreviewTest8051308.jpg!
...And here are the same *.pdf exports* from Pages as viewed in *Adobe Reader*:
    !http://homepage.mac.com/podzone/forums/ReaderTest4051308.jpg! !http://homepage.mac.com/podzone/forums/ReaderTest6051308.jpg! !http://homepage.mac.com/podzone/forums/ReaderTest8051308.jpg!
Notice how 2 out of the 3 are acceptable in Reader (gamma and anti-aliasing issues aside). However, if I save the Pages document as a *Postscript file* (as mentioned elsewhere in the forums), the problem magically disappears in Reader. At first glance this looks like a good alternative. Unfortunately, the *Postscript workflow* option has an apparent *negative effect* on the print resolution of my images. To see the difference, look at this actual size screen grab of a photo in a Pages-exported pdf:
Now here's a 400% enlargement of a portion of that image when *exported as a pdf directly from Pages*:
...And here's the same image at 400% after *using the Postscript export* (opened in Preview):
Notice the significant loss of resolution in the Postscript export. I'm not sure why this is occurring, but it's there nonetheless. So at this point I'm not a big fan of the Postscript option, and would rather just find picture frames in Pages that export nicely as .pdf for printing, and render properly in Adobe Reader too. I wonder if others have used the PS export to print, and if they've noticed any change in appearance of photos, etc.?
As a side note, even though I have color profiles for all the photos and vector art used in the Pages document, printing to PDF-X errors out and won't complete. So far documents with lots of images have never successfully exported as PDF-X for me. Have you been successful?
    Cheers!

  • How do I set a price for adobe exchange add-ons?

I'm an adobe exchange developer and have an approved (unpublished) Photoshop product ready to go but I am unable to set the price to anything other than Free. I have linked my Fastspring account but the 'Free' remains greyed out. I can find absolutely no way to contact any product managers or administrators from Adobe via my exchange account (other than submitting reviewer notes on a new product submission) so I'm trying here. Any hints appreciated, including any better way for publishers to contact Adobe exchange administration. Thanks!

    Thank you Krystal,
I received the same instruction in an email today, here was my reply. I post it here in case it is helpful to others:
It's actually a bit trickier than that. You can't change the price once it's retracted so I had to publish, then change the price while it's live, then retract it. I can only hope or guess that it went through. There is no record of my changes being submitted and it doesn't show up anymore either under my products submitted nor published products, only the original free one in my 'retracted' tab in my account. I hope my change request has been received, I can't tell, nor do I know how I will know if it is received or approved but I think I submitted it.
It would be nice if this process was a bit clearer with the ability to 1) edit without publishing and 2) move edited products back into 'Not Published' until changes are approved 3) receive some kind of change request receipt
    Thanks!
