It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this.

  • Why do Adobe Reader and Flashplayer not install

I download bot Adobe Reader and Flshplayer installers to my hard drive then run the installer file.  Get promped for permission to run.  The installer seems to start and the installer file gets removed from the hard drive but neither product installs?   Looking in Task Manager, the installer stays there (forever).  This is windows Vista, 32 bit

  • Attempted to downloand adobe reader and does not initialze to complete process

attempted to download adobe reader after mistakenly removing the program, now does not complete the download process due to not initializing completely

Happy New Year to you as well.
The purpose of marking an aswer as Correct is to help others with the same problem to find the solution to this problem. I think you will agree that you reply to Pat is not very useful to solve your problem. You can unmark any response already marked as Correct or Helpful, and mark other(s) as such or leave all responses unmarked. For that, you have to use the buttons at the lower right of each message box..

  • Adobe Reader X is not responding while dr.eye 9

    Symptom:
    OS is windows 7 with sp1 + Adobe Reader X 10.0.1version + Dr.eye 9.0.
When Adobe Reader X - ("Enabled protected mode" by default) and Dr.eye 9 (Install Translation is enabled) are on , they will cause Adobe Reader X error while directly opening PDF files or exploring embedded PDF websites.
We know need to disable one function - "Enabled potected mode" in Adobe Reader X but for security reason , is there any better solution or will it be fixed in next updating patches ?

I'm having a similar problem, everytime I launch reader or if I try to open a PDF it crashes on my winxp sp3 PC with a visual c++ runtime error and closes. I can't even get to any preferences or anything in time.

  • Adobe reader and Samsung Note 10.1

The latest update allows for the ability to split the screen as you can do with other apps. Unfortunately the icon to do this covers up the bookmark icon when in landscape mode (the normal mode for me) rendering the product almost useless.
While I'm at it, can we please have in future versions display of the complete bookmark text, rather that just the first x number of characters.
    many thanks.

  • Flash Player, Adobe Reader and Java

It came to my surprise when I removed flash player, adobe reader and java (not the base) my system is not heating up while i am on youtube (as i am using html5). So this means there are some serious issues with flash player on mac.
My recommendation to people using flash is to stop using it.

Works fine for me - I haven't made the YouTube HTML5 transition yet - I suppose because I don't have any issues with Flash Player.
Adobe Reader shouldn't cause your system to overheat at all - I keep Adobe Acrobat XI Pro open 24/7.

  • Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro updates for 11.0.10 being pushed out through SolarWinds Patch Manager are not being recognized as applicable.

I am trying to update our Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro to 11.0.10 using the default MSP packages with SolarWinds Patch Manager.  All of the systems keep reporting as 'NOT APPLICABLE'.  All of the workstations have Reader11.0.09, with about 10% still on 11.0.08 (due to the fact that the reader 11.0.09 package only patched about 2/3 of the systems).  All systems that have Acrobat Pro are 11.0.09.
In SolarWinds I am using the "Adobe Systems, Inc. Packages" node.
    Adobe Systems Acrobat 11 Catalog
    Adobe Systems Reader 11 Catalog
and the SW Patch Manager downloads the msp's straight from Adobe.
I have checked the msp's manually and they will update at least back to 11.0.07 in Reader, and 11.0.0 in Acrobat Pro. (I had an old stand alone system that still had Reader 11.0.07, and I did a new install of Pro and went straight to update 11.0.10)
The SolarWinds Tech said, "Okay. That content is produced by Adobe. Any questions concerning applicability logic or diagnosing why a package reports as NotApplicable when that's not expected would need to be directed to Adobe, as they are solely responsible for that content and its behavior".
I am new to SolarWinds Patch Manager, and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you are attempting to use the SCUP catalogs outside of the MS solution.  I can almost guarantee you that Adobe didn't test it if it's not referenced in the ETK:  11   SCCM-SCUP — Enterprise Administration Guide
That being said there "should" be logging available in any deployment solution.   Since I am not familiar with Solar-Winds particular solution I can't say if it logs errors and how verbose those logs might be.    If you have logs then post the output and the forum members "might" be able to assist you.

  • Hi I would like to know, how do I add a Hyperlink on Flash, that opens a PDF in adobe reader and not the web browser.

Hi I would like to know, how do I add a Hyperlink on Flash, that opens a PDF in adobe reader and not the web browser.

Yoh, what is FSCCommanr ? sorry man I am an absolute beginner in Flash. I tried the code:
/* Click to Go to Web Page
Clicking on the specified symbol instance loads the URL in a new browser window.
    Instructions:
    1. Replace http://www.adobe.com with the desired URL address.
       Keep the quotation marks ("").
    instance_name_here.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage);
    function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage(event:MouseEvent):void {
      navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com"), "_blank");
this is the same code I used before and it opens a pdf file in a web browser, and it doesn't open an AutoCAD file.

    What is your operating system?
You don't need Acrobat to view PDF files; can you post a screenshot of that message?
Also, is this a local or online PDF?  If online, in what browser?

Have recently updated Adobe Reader and now unable to open downloaded documents - Message received is could not open 'file name.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). When I check the file it shows Zero KB downloaded but the file appears - any suggestions?

Obviously your download was not successful.
What is your operating system?  How exactly do you download such files?

  • How do i read pdf files on mac air, i have downloaded adobe reader and not working

How do I read any files in pdf format? I have downloaded adobe reader yet have not been able to open pdf files?

If you can't view PDF files in Safari, take these steps.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
