Adobe Reader as an OLE server incorrectly zooms content

OLE object should always show content completely (first page of PDF document) not depending of its size.
When I create new PDF object with Wordpad the result is like this:
This box should show the complete page not just upper left corner.
If I resize OLE object the result is like this:
This bug can easily be reproduced with Acrobat Reader 10.x or newer. Version 9.x was last version that worked correctly!
I have tested this with our own program as well as with Mirosoft Wordpad (Microsoft Word uses different technique, not Acrobat as OLE server).
Even if OLE is old technique it is still very important and useful and used by a lot of people (and in our case more that thousand of our customer).

Antti

I think Adobe will need to spend a lot of time on this before concluding it is a bug (or, indeed, that it is not), so yes. There are ways to send a bug report for free, but it just goes into Adobe's systems, there is no response.
You could at least try posting in the Acrobat SDK forum. You might reach other programmers there (but not Adobe developers).

  • Adobe Reader Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 (R2)

    Hi,
    I want to silently install the latest version of Adobe Reader on a Windows Server 2012 server. When I want to download the offline installer at http://get.adobe.com/nl/reader/enterprise/ I do not see Windows Server 2012 (and/or R2) listed. Is the offline installer supported for Windows Server 2012 and/or Windows Server 2012 R2?
    How can I get this to work?
    Thanks in advance.

    The Technical Specifications are here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/tech-specs.html
    It doesn't mention Windows Server 2012.
    If this is for Citrix or WTS you should get a distribution agreement and then also get the Distribution version of Adobe Reader.

    Try using the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Why does Adobe Reader use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out now, rather than actually scroll?

    Why does Adobe Reader use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out rather than actually, um, scroll? I can't find anywhere to change this function in Preferences, either.

    I had the same problem on my Windows 8 touch screen laptop.  It was driving me crazy! Every time I tried to scroll a page down, the program would zoom the page!  Made reading an ebook difficult.
    I finally found the solution:
    Under Edit select Preferences - General
    Uncheck "Make Hand Tool Use mouse-wheel zooming".

  • Error 1625 with Adobe Reader Update on Windows Server 2008 R2 OS

    For the last two months when I receive updates to Adobe Reader 9.3 I get Error 1625:  Update failed.  Update not permitted by system policy.   But there is no system policy since this is a stand-alone machine.
    Windows Server 2008 R2 is equivalent to Windows 7 OS but has some special security features.  If I could manually download and run this update and by pass the Adobe automated install I might be able to fix the problem by running the update "as administrator" but I think Adobe doesn't give me that choice.
    I have uninstalled and re-installed Adobe Reader 9.3 but still get the same result when applying this update.
    Adobe reader is working fine, so I would be happy also if Adobe just stopped trying to send me this update.
    Any suggestions?

    I did.  When I posted my last response ending in "did not work"  I had a dashed line and
    Adobe in there infinite wisdom interpreted that as an  end of message.   So here is the rest
    of my last post which was cut off:
    So I then tried ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ's  solution (the one above your suggestion) - downloading the updates to my desktop and applying them by hand.   That worked.
    But this means I may need to download all future updates by hand for this computer.   It's great that ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ  posted links for these three updates above,  but I'm wondering how to easily automate getting download links for all future updates since I don't have access to the parent directory http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/.
    Please suggest a way I can install all future updates by hand without requesting a special link.  In particular, when you download an update using  Adobe Reader "search for updates", where is that update saved so perhaps I could run it by hand instead of the automated way.

  • Unresolved bug in adobe reader x with non-default windows zoom level

    This seems to have already been brought up here about a year ago: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/776060.
    I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with Firefox 12.0 and Adobe Reader 10.1.3. Here is a description of the problem:
    Whenever I open any PDF file in a browser (firefox or IE) using the adobe reader I am unable to select text, save the file or interact with the content in any meaningful way because the plugin does not recognise my cursor position. If I click on some text in a PDF document, the reader will immediately highlight a region of text between where I clicked and where it thinks I started clicking from (above 20% of the screen above and to the left of where I actually clicked on the page). If I roll my mouse over the region where the dashboard normally appears, the dash does appear as intended and the cursor changes in response to hover over buttons, as if everything were working, but I am unable to click on anything (clicking does nothing). If I click and hold the dashboard when it appears, it immediately jumps to another region of the page, as if it thinks I moved the mouse (20% up and to the left again). I have recently reformatted and am now using a fresh install, and the issue remains. My desktop zoom level in windows is 150%. The problem appears only inside the browser; viewing PDFs directly in Acrobat Reader X works without issue.
    I can resolve the problem either of two ways:
    a) Reverting back to the default windows zoom level (125%).
    b) right-clicking on the Adobe Reader X icon, navigating to the compatibility tab and clicking "Disable Display Scaling on high DPI settings"
    The workaround is easy but it's disappointing that adobe hasn't fixed this. Please consider that it would mostly affect individuals who are vision impaired and might not have the know-how to resolve the problem or check for solutions online, let alone post comments such as this. As far as I can tell this problem severely impaires the functionality of adobe in any browser on any non-standard zoom windows installation.

    Please be sure to post your issue in the following Feature Request/Bug Report Form.

  • Print pdf file directly from a folder, Adobe Reader X in  Windows Server 2003

    In previous versions of Adobe Reader we were able to print pdf files groupwise directly when selected in a folder.
    Now I've installed Reader X on the Windows Server 2003 environment. Logged in as administrator I can still select <Print> by selecting the right mouse button in a folder. Logged in as a user, this is not available.
    I checked user-rights and permissions and made sure they have full control.
    Someone who can help us in this matter?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
    The file menu doesn't show the print option either. We used to work this way, after installing the 9.0 and Reader X version, this option has disappeared from both the File menu and the right mouse button. For other filetypes, for example Excel the Print option is still available and works properly. Logged in as administrator on the serverconsole, there is no problem. So it seams to be something specific to pdf-formats in a server 2003 environment. The userrights are all set on full control (same as administrator).
    Thanks again

  • Adobe Reader preferences issue, text stretched and zoomed in.

    I have a user with Adobe Reader 11.0.2 installed and cannot change his preferences and always receives a "Screen reader" prompt when opening a PDF.  The window is stretched accross the screen and the only way to close it is Tab - Enter.  The preferences are the same way, theres no way to check the settings because the window is too zoomed in and the text is too large. I have already tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, deleted all the folders and reg keys to do a clean install as well as under multiple profiles. Same issue each time.  Has anyone else seen this issue?
    Any advice would be great.

    I believe I have seen this where an essential Windows font is removed.

  • Adobe Reader 9.3.1 prints incorrectly in Windows 7 x64 - HELP

    Adobe Reader 9.3.1 PDF document pages at half size and rotated 90 degrees.  If I set "Print as Image" under the Advanced print options, it does print correctly, although the resolution isn't very good.  This happens on several documents (stand alone files and from Internet Explorer both).  I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
    On my Vista 32 bit system, Adobe Reader 9.3.1 prints the same documents correctly on the same printer.
    Has anyone heard of this problem?  Is there a solution?

    I have some of the same problem
    with my Windows 7 64 bit computer. I
    get an error when sending a document to
    the PDF veiwer and am told to shut down
    Adobe Reader.  Is there a download to
    correct this problem?  Adobe Reader 9.3.1
    works fine with Windows XP on my 32 bit
    computer.

  • Adobe Reader 9.4 TS Server Send for Each page

    Some of our users on our terminal servers need to use send by range under advanced printing options to be able to print correctly. Is there a way to make this setting stay after closing Adobe Reader? For example with some registery entries, global adobe settings or similiar.
    Tried to discover what happens when i change the setting with processmonitor but its impossible to find anything useful because adobe reader creates like a houndred of system entries every every 10sec.

    That combination is unrecommended and supprted by Adobe. It's one or the other.
    I assume that Adobe Reader 9.4.0 opens more file types than just .pdf.
    Nope. Just PDF's.
    anoma Is there maybe a command-line repair I can run on the 9.4.0 reader to fix the file associations?
    You may not need to go that far. Highlight a PDF, right click and use open with. In XP there's a box to tick that says to open all files types of that sort with whatever program you chose. There's probably something similar in your OS (not familiar with it, sorry).
    BUT, that may or may not work. You are experiencing one of the many issues involved with having both apps installed. Some of them are fixable, some not. Fixes work on some machines and not others...etc.That's why it isn't supported.
    They have finally fixed the issue (sort of) so the first supported combination is Acrobat X and Reader X.

  • My adobe reader renders some pdf text incorrectly

    I have a problem with a variety of PDFs containing embedded text, which are not rendered properly. The text appears as ASCII jibberish even though the original file renders normally with other PDF readers. Some headers and URLs might come out normal, but the rest of the text is jibberish. I believe this a problem specific to my computer, and not to the PDF document, wherever it was created. This first happened with Adobe Reader 7.0, and upgrading to Adobe Reader 8 has surprisingly not resolved the issue. Uninstalling everything and reinstalling Adobe Reader 8.0 has not resolved the issue.
    At one time I used Adobe Reader Speed-Up to modify my adobe 7.0 installation, so I thought this could be a problem caused by that software. But un-installing and re-installing a fresh copy of Adobe Reader 8.0 has not fixed the issue. I have tried to make sure Windows fonts settings have been ok. any ideas?

    Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Tool to remove all vestiges of
    Reader and the Speed-up tool. Then try to re-install.

  • Xfdf and pdf works in Adobe Reader 6, but not with new versions 7, 8, X

    I have a xfdf file which is created by querying a SQL data base and contains data for a pdf form; it works with Adobe Reader 6, but does not work with new versions of Adobe Readers (7, 8, 9 and X).
    It is an intranet site running IIS 6.0 in Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP2 with Adobe 6 installed and client systems include XPSP2, XPSP3, Vista, Windows 7 with different versions of IE, Firefox.
    With new versions of Adobe Reader, click on the hyperlink launched the pdf form in a browser window without data; below is the link:
            // create shipping slip hyperlink
            string strLtrSlipUrl = "~/Archive/LtrShipSlip.pdf#FDF=" + lblWO.Text + "LtrShipSlip" + ".xfdf";
            HyperLink hlLtrShipPdf = new HyperLink();
            hlLtrShipPdf.Text = "Ltr Shipping Slip";
            hlLtrShipPdf.NavigateUrl = strLtrSlipUrl;
            hlLtrShipPdf.Target = "_blank";
            pnlLtrShipSlip.Controls.Add(hlLtrShipPdf);
    I have installed new versions of Adobe Reader in the Web server (to match what the clients are using), but results are the same – blank pdf.
    I uninstalled the new versions and installed version 6 and the pdf and xfdf worked happily together, but we need new versions of Adobe Reader in the client computers.
    Thanks for helps and suggestions – I have read articles about using iTextSharp to create pdf documents from .NET apps, but that would be my last choice.

    Adobe Reader 9 can't save the old FDA forms. FDA must update their forms.

  • How do I get to full-screen mode in Adobe Reader 10.4.4 for ipad mini? It's vanished.

    I updated Adobe Reader and now double tapping activates zoom. There does not seem to be any way to go to full-screen mode, and reading with the header (time and battery life icons) is unpleasant.

    Thanks for taking the time to post -- especially to a thread that was started almost a year ago.  I'll give your suggestion a try.
