Adobe Reader Automatic Updates - modifying

Is it possible to re-direct Adobe Reader to an address on our internal network for updates rather than going out to adobe.com? Our policies and network restrictions do not allow users to perform the updates themselves so we are releasing new versions as SMS packages. We'd like to simplify the process by having Adobe reader look to an internal server for updates.
Any advice or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
Paul

I doubt this is possible as it could be a security on its own. However, you should be able automate the updating process on your own without changing Adobe Reader's internal settings (other than to have automatic updating turned off). Alas, I'm not capable of telling you how to do it, but people have done it previously. You might try a search on the forums (through Google, not the forum search )

When Mozilla Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe Reader needed updating. After updating to Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to a file. I know the printer and its interface must be OK because Word prints normally.

Problem solved, it was my oversight, I had not removed the check from the Print to File box in the print set up.

  • Removing Adobe Reader X Updates

I would like the notification to remove Adobe Reader X Updates to be removed from my computer.  It is quite annoying.  Please be clear and easy since I am not exactly computer literate.  Thank you, in advance

Sorry, your question is not clear.  Can you give us the exact wording (or a screenshot) of that notification?
    What is your operating system?

  • I can sign into Adobe but I cannot sign  into Adobe Reader for updates

I can sign into Adobe but my password is rejected when trying to sign into Adobe reader for updates.

Adobe Reader won't ask you to sign in for updates. Most likely, this is just the normal adminstrator password prompt you get when installing or updating software, and you use your computer's own password.

  • Adobe Reader XI Update failed.  How to fix?

When my windows 7 64 bit computer was updated to adobe reader XI, the update function began to continually fail.  I am getting the following "Adobe Reader Updater" message:
"Update Failed  An error occured.  Please check for updates again later.  Error: 111500"
This message annoyingly pops up when adobe attempts to check for updates automatically.  I also get this message anytime I manually check for updates.  I have tried to "check for updates later" a million times with no luck.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Reader a million times.  I have also uninstalled, utilized the adobe reader removal tool for removal of older versions, and reinstalled a million times.  I have also tried reinstalling the older versions.  Still, whether i am using version XI or an older version of Reader, I always get the above message when I request an update.  Please Help!

This error means that Updater could not create download  folder under C:\Users\All Users\Adobe\ARM
Most likely you have special\corrupted permissions at C:\Users\All Users level
Or some sort of Antivirus type program keeps this folder locked.
    You have 2 choices
    1. Fix permissions\locking issue
    2. Download Updates manually and install them every time they are released - http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html
If you choose later, you can disable Updater automatic modes from Edit\Preferences\Updater menu.
    Good luck

  • Adobe Reader Not Updating

HP AMD dual core, running XP SP3 with IE8:
Noticed today when the Automatic Update for 9.3.4 "didn't take" that my Acrobat Reader version was still at 8.2. (dated June 30th 2010), so apparently Acrobat Reader Auto Updates had been failing since that date. I didn't notice this before because I keep this program in a "Utilities" folder on my desk top and just delete the existing link icon then move the new icon in there when it shows up. Of course today I finally saw that the new icon was really just the old version restored. Followed a few threads and saw that for the 9.3.4 you need to have 9.3.3 installed, but the link provided was an FTP site and the Windows Explorer viewing instructions gave me an "FTP site cannot be viewed in Windows Explorer" message.
Any ideas on how to get from 8.2 to 9.3.4?
The implication in the thread I was following appeared to be that that was how you had to get 9.3.3 now that this update was released, but I see that 9.3.3 is still the download version on this site. Do I need to remove 8.2 before attempting to install 9.3.3?
Also just noticed this is the DLM downloader for Reader. Is there a Manual Download available?
    Thanks in advance, stillgolfing44

    Thanks for the quick reply.
You may not have noticed that I had edited my post with more info/questions.
I Found 9.3.3 @ Adobe, but it is the DLM version. Is there a manual download version available?
Also do I need to remove 8.2 first and if so, is there an uninstaller that should be used or is the Windows Uninstaller O.K.?
    Thanks again, stillgolfing44

  • Help! Lost Adobe Reader with update attempt!

We had Adobe Reader 8, and we have never had an issue updating to newer versions. When 9 came out our computer went to do the update (it's set to automatically detect updates and start them early in the morning if we don't start them manual by then) but when it was almost done it popped up saying we didn't have the ability to do the update...something along the lines of not being the administrator on the computer. The computer login we were using is the one we always use and is most definately the administrator of the computer.
I figured perhaps there was a glitch or something so I restarted the computer. Well now the old Adobe Reader is gone (the "update" erased the old version to be replaced by the new one) and when I go to restart the install it's telling me it's just a trial and that after 40 days I have pay for it.
I can't just reinstall the original reader because we had it already installed on the computer when we bought it.
    Can anyone help?
Meanwhile, anyone here good with fixing MS Office 2003 issues? We can't get the WordArt to print out right. It prints the graphics, but they're just blocks of color or white lettering in blocks of color. And it doesn't matter what Office program it is we use. Regular graphics print out fine, it's just the Word Art.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry for omitting that information; yes, this is the installer without AIR and Acrobat.com - I recommend that you use this download (above) if you don't want the additional tools.
The full installer can be downloaded from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.1/enu/AdbeRdr910_en_US_Std.exe (41MB).

  • Adobe Reader security update to 9.3.1 not working.

I have updated adobe reader to 9.3.1 but in Secunia PSI it's still being reported as insecure.
I uninstalled adobe reader completely, cleared all traces from the registry, and reinstalled 9.3.0, and let it check for updates. it said there weren't any.
I downloaded the security fix to update it to 9.3.1 and installed it successfully.
Adobe reader now says it's 9.3.1 in the Help About option on the help menu.
However the Reader exe file AcroRd32.exe version is still 9.3.0.148 dated 21/12/2009, as are all the plugin files except for the Forms plugin that is version 9.3.1.203 dated 02/02/2010.
I have since done a successful repair install of Adobe Reader, but PSI is still saying it's insecure because of the file version 9.3.0.148 for AcroRd32.exe, and the plugin files except the Forms plugin,
Why isn't the security update to 9.3.1 updating the exe file and plugins?  Is it even working at all and fixing the critical security risks it's supposed to be fixing? It would seem all it's doing is to change the Help/About screen to read 9.3.1, and changing the Forms plugin...
Running on WIndows 7 home premium.

I have same problem using Windows Vista Home Premium. Just ran Secunia and went to link and downloaded and installed 9.3.1.203, but, AcroRd31.exe still shows ver 9.3.0.148 in the Acrobe Reader files on my computer???  I do not think that the problem is solved. Apparently the update is not working correctly.

  • Compatibility of Adobe Reader International Updates 8.1.5 & 8.1.6 with ME/Hebrew versions of 8.1.3 & 8.1.4

At present, I have Adobe Reader Hebrew version AdbeRdr813_he_IL.exe installed, and I use Internet Explorer 6 SP1 in my Windows 2000 Professional SP4 . The menus and interface in all my Windows 2000 Operating System and installed software are US-English, but the specific menus and interface in my Adobe Reader 8.1.3 are in Hebrew.
Adobe website offers for download ME (Hebrew included inside) Update version AdbeRdrUpd814_all_me_incr.msp, whereas Updates 8.1.5 & 8.1.6 are only available as AdbeRdrUpd815_all_incr.msp and AdbeRdrUpd816_all_incr.msp, without explicit mention of Hebrew or Middle-East (ME) languages compatibility.
Is it compatible and adviseable to download and apply these International Updates 8.1.5 & 8.1.6 directly to the basic Adobe Reader Hebrew 8.1.3 , or first install ME 8.1.4, or directly install International Update 8.1.6 onto Hebrew 8.1.3, thus bypassing ME 8.1.4 & 8.1.5?
Alternatively, should I patiently wait till ME/Hebrew versions of Updates 8.1.5 & 8.1.6 will be offered for download by Adobe?
Note that my main interest is in the ability to search text strings in Hebrew and in English in all PDF documents. The menus and interface might be in US-English or in Hebrew as far as I am concerned.

The ME version of Adobe products are not actually Adobe products. Contact the company that makes and supports these products:

  • Disabling Adobe Reader X updates in an enterprise

    Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me where the registry key is to disable updates to the New Adobe Reader X? I have this in place for version 9 but I cannot find the key even after using proxmon to see what Adobe is changing in the registry.
Is there any new methods of managing an adobe reader in this new version?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
For disabling ReaderX updates following registry entry can be created:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\FeatureLockDown]
    "bUpdater"=dword:00000000
Hope that it will be useful. Thanks

  • Adobe Reader 11 Update via SCUP

    Hi all,
i'm updating Adobe Reaer via SCCM and SCUP and the published catalogs from Adobe.
When importing the updates i do not see the MUI Update for Version 11.0.5, but the not MUI Version is available.
is this update published later what do i wrong?
    Thanks a lot

I'm a bit sorry, I've used the non MUI version for deployment, it was the German 11.0.04 Package.
11.0.05 Deployment via SCUP was done without any problems.
I tried "msiexec /update AdbeRdrUpd11006.msp" with Logging Option and this is the output (It's a bit in german I hope its not a problem):

  • Adobe Reader Transitition Update for SCCM

    Hi all,
i just downloaded the latest Adobe Reader 11.X Catalogs for SCUP.
I would like to upgrade all of our 10.X Adobe Reader Versions to 11.X, but the Transition Update "Adobe Reader 10 Transition"
seems to work only for english Installations. All of my other Clients report "not required" and so i can't push that update to those clients.
Is there anything i'm doing wrong? Will there be another Transitition Update to upgrade other languages also?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Adobe Reader LE Updates

Are standard OEM equipped device users entitled to product updates?
I'm using Adobe Reader LE 2.5.0.0. but there is no facility in the product to check for updates. Have there been any updates?

afaik, the LE apps are not supported in any way other than, perhaps, by the vendor of your phone. (this forum is for adobe ppc reader which is not related to LE)
If your phone is windows mobile and uses a stylus, you can "upgrade" to the full pocketpc adobe reader by downloading it from adobe and using activesync to install it via your sync pc.

  • SCUP 2011 - Adobe Reader Deployment + Updates

    Hi Everyone!
I am using SCCM 2012 + SCUP 2011 and I want to deploy to deploy Acrobat Reader + Updates.
Here is what I did :
    - I created an application deployment (Adobe Reader 11.0.00) and deployed it without any problems.
    - From SCUP, I published Adobe Reader 11.0.08 but I don't see this update as "Required"
    - From SCUP, If I publish Adobe Reader 11.0.02, I see it as "Required"
From what I understand, you cannot update 11.0.00 directly to the latest update (11.0.08).
So my question is : What would be the best practice to install Adobe Reader and manage the updates with SCUP?
    Thank you!

You need to either create a new 11.0.08 package or upgrade to 11.0.02 after that version 11.0.08 will be required.
