I recently did a clean install on a 2011 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Went to install Adobe Acrobat 9 with the DVD media and about 3/4 of the way through the install, the install stopped and the following window appeared: The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Adobe Acrobat" can't be read or written. (Error code - 36). I've tried to install a few times and get the same message. Is Adobe Acrobat 9 incompatible with Mavericks. I've seen some posts on Apple Support Communities indicating that it is indeed compatible, but no explanation why the error pops up.
The hard drive may be dying anyway, or the directory damaged because it is so full. You should never let the hard drive get over 85% full.
A -36 error is a read/write error.
All you did with the power is reset the SMC. Does nothing to reset everything to factory settings.
Do you have your original 10.4 installer discs for the MacBook?
Is your data backed up? -
I've been importing photos quite regularly but all of a sudden my Mac can't read my Targus card reader. In fact, it doesn't appear to even see it though the power indicator on the reader is showing that it's on.
Thanks for your help.I'm having the same problem. My Duel Adapter was working, then it stopped working. Now I have no access to my P2 card with what I shot. Since this seems to be a problem with Apple, and not a specific hardware, I wonder why they haven't attempted to answer or at least give us an idea on how to solve the problem. This is my first Mac, and now I'm wishing I had stayed with Dell - they answer questions and we can find help in different forums. Does anyone know of an Apple forum for me to look up possible solutions? Thanks.

After downloading Adobe Reader, Can't Configure Reader
After downloading Adober Reader, during install, it puts up an error saying that it can't configure itself.
Try using the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
If you are still getting errors, please tell us what OS you use. -
I will start the process of downloading Firefox 4 and then get the message that my Adobe Reader can't open the file because it is damaged or sent through an e mail. I was not in my e mail when I tried to download the update. This isn't the first time that this has happened. I gave up downloading updates in the past just because I would encounter this same problem.
When you start the download, are you chooseing Save or Run?

I'm trying to open files which are telling me to instal Adobe Reader. Which I did but the agreement which needs to be ticked off so this reader can open doesn't come up. Please could you be of some assistance.
Select one of the files, Choose GetInfo from the Finder's File menu, look for the field named "Open With", and choose Preview from the adjacent menu. Accept that ALL such files will Open with Preview, and your major problems should be solved.
Occasionally, a particularly complex .pdf file or one that needs to be modified and re-written will not work quite right with Preview, but such issues are rare. -
I am using CC adobe Acrobat to combine multiple pdfs and add page numbers. As of about 2 weeks ago the mac users can no longer read the page numbers they get a font error message and see only -- where the page information should be. The pc users do not have this same problem. When I replace our regular font (URW Grotesk) with a system font (Verdana) everyone is able to read the page numbers. This is a new issues, I have been creating these documents in the same way for years without a problem. I have been on hold and on and off calls for the last two hours, I keep getting hung up on once I find someone in adobe support to talk to!
Hi KnoopL,
Are the Mac users using Preview to view the pdfs or Adobe Reader?

Error 1327 invalid Drive: E:\ appears when I try to install adobe reader, can anyone help?
Hi Coralienz,
Can you please check the value of the registry entries at the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
In case the values for any of the entries (i.e. Common AppData, Common Desktop, Common Documents etc.) is referencing to E:\, change the value back to look something like below and you should be good to go. -
Adobe Reader can not open thousands of vital PDF files for the company I work for.
Adobe Reader can open every PDF file on our server except for the many files that were received by one company. The coding is corrupt and I have not found a solution yet on how to decode it in order for it to open properly.
I have looked into using uudecode but the online service it provided didn't seem to recognize the code I was putting in.
The coding to these PDF files looks like this:
From what I have seen all of the working files are much shorter and the coding is a lot more organized and starts with %PDF
If anyone can help me decode it or somehow restore it without receiving the file from the original sender, that would be ideal. Any other suggestions are much appreciated.
Thank you!Your analysis is good. All working PDFs will start %PDF. These files may be
* encoded
* compressed
* damaged in transit
* destroyed by malware
* not a PDF but mislabelled
The format is certainly not uuencode/uudecode nor anything I've seen before. I think you need to contact the senders. If they say there isn't a problem, send a file back and ask if it works for them, because that will check for damage etc. If they CAN open it, they have some special tools or procedures and need to share them with you. -
Free way to dynamically build a form that adobe reader can fill out?
It's 2008 and we don't have a open, free way to dynamically build a pdf form that adobe reader can populate with data? Why is Adobe charging for this sort of thing? Does this make sense to anybody?
> Why is Adobe charging for this sort of thing?
That seems to me the way economics works. People charge for things
that other people are prepared to pay for. It's no good trying to
charge for things that nobody will pay for.
>Does this make sense to anybody?
Adobe's shareholders, I would think, who will sack Adobe's management
if they do not make money.
By the way, the PDF specification is open. If you want something for
free, why not implement it and share it with the world, who will
surely be pleased. (You will not be able to implement a form that
Reader can save, however, this is based on trade secrets).

Adobe reader can't open a file because it's not supported type of file or it's damaged?
I get this pop-up when trying to reinstall HP Printer software: Adobe reader can't open a file because it's not supported type of file or it's damaged?
Hold down the control key and select a file of the given type in the Finder. A contextual menu appears. Release the control key and hold down the option key. From the contextual menu, select the submenu
Always Open With
and then select
DiskImageMounter
from the submenu. -
Hello, I have installed Reader, Adobe Acrobat, trial versions of Photoshop and Illustrator. Some more than once. They work for a few days at most then I am told to re-install. I cant look at any pdf file even though I can still see reader in my programs. What is going on and what can I do to fix this?
Unfortunately no, It says "Adobe not responding" as well when I try to open a pdf. It has done this a few times where I had to uninstall and reinstall. Also, Illustrator tells me to uninstall/reinstall as well.

adobe pdf can not be completedly displaced by Adobe reader XI while it is inserted into a Excel2013(office 365) file
Sorry
should be “displaying”
Like when open a drawing pdf which is inserted into Excel(office 365) as an object, some lines, dimensions with remark can not be displayed and only few graph can be displayed.
But if the drawing is a separate PDF file, not inserted into Excel(office 365)as an object, the Adobe XI reader can always open it with all graphs, figures, texts, lines etc. smoothly.

Please explain in full detal what you are trying to do and what happens when you try. I don't understand what you mean by "displacing a pdf (file?)".

When I download pdf files using Safari 6, they can't be read by Adobe Reader; using Safari to read them isn't a solution, because Safari doesn't allow them to be printed page by page. The same files, downloaded by Chrome, by contrast, can be opened and printed. Is there a patch for this problem?

I receive a message that:
"Adobe Reader could not open [form name.pdf] because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
Trash the Adobe Reader app from your Applications folder.
Empty the trash.
Go to: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and download the FULL installer to replace Reader and the plug-ins.
Redownload the Forms.

How can I get Coke out of my keyboard?
I spilled some Coke on my Macbook Pro Retina 2014's keyboard. Everything still works perfectly, as I immediately turned my laptop upside down and shut it off, but some of the keys now stick whenever I use them, rendering several of my F-keys useless.
