Adobe reader: can't search any more

I don't _think_ I have posted this before.
Adobe Reader cannot do searches etc in pdfs any more. Before my Android version was updated there was a row of buttons at top of screen, which IIRC could be called up by swiping downward from the top. NBow, the buttons appear briefly at doc ument load, but then disappea and I cannot re-call them.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, now with Android 4.2.2. Adobe reader is 10.6.1 Build 77969. Google play will not let me update from that.
I kept on getting an "Install new update" message, did the best I could to check if any software was malware, and after several days of being asked every day, installed. This caused a complete reboot and looked like a new Android version. Then the business with the editing / searching started in Adobe reader

BTW, the update was for Android, not Reader. The whole thing looked like malware, with no id of the software or anything.

You may also not want to shout (large bold print) when you go to the Reader forum. It irritates a lot of folks and may distract from your question.

Adobe Reader can not open thousands of vital PDF files for the company I work for.

Adobe Reader can open every PDF file on our server except for the many files that were received by one company. The coding is corrupt and I have not found a solution yet on how to decode it in order for it to open properly.
I have looked into using uudecode but the online service it provided didn't seem to recognize the code I was putting in.
The coding to these PDF files looks like this:
From what I have seen all of the working files are much shorter and the coding is a lot more organized and starts with %PDF
If anyone can help me decode it or somehow restore it without receiving the file from the original sender, that would be ideal. Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

Your analysis is good. All working PDFs will start %PDF. These files may be
* encoded
* compressed
* damaged in transit
* destroyed by malware
* not a PDF but mislabelled
The format is certainly not uuencode/uudecode nor anything I've seen before. I think you need to contact the senders. If they say there isn't a problem, send a file back and ask if it works for them, because that will check for damage etc. If they CAN open it, they have some special tools or procedures and need to share them with you.

Can't add any more buddies, but i always could, even over the limit..

On my iChat buddy list (on an AIM account), I have a lot over the 200 maximum, and it has always worked fine. I had almost 300 buddies, and then tried to add a few more. The first one worked, but the second two adds didn't. Is there a way to fix this other than deleting some buddies?

This would mean that you aren't really removing the element
from either
Design or Code view. If the code is there, the element is
there. If the
code is not there, the element is not there.

seeing your

Hi,
I'm building a site for my husband which is built entirely
with AP Divs (in CS3). Messy, but quick and easy.
Never made a website before, so it's all a bit new to me!
I've got to the stage now though, where I can't add any more.
I can draw the shape using the Draw AP Div tool, but as soon as I
let go of the mouse button, the box disappears (it doesn't get as
far as becoming a blue box).
I've checked that it's not hidden beneath another layer.
One thing I have noticed is that if I use design view to
delete an AP element, it doesn't seem to get removed from the code.
Anyone got any ideas?

You can't. There is no memory card. It uses flash memory that's soldered to the logic board. If you didn't back it up, your data is gone.

Can you please check the value of the registry entries at the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
In case the values for any of the entries (i.e. Common AppData, Common Desktop, Common Documents etc.) is referencing to E:\, change the value back to look something like below and you should be good to go.

Android running Adobe Reader can't view PDF

My Android running Adobe Reader can't view Adobe PDF attachments that someone has emailed me through Exchange Server.
I can, however, read the same PDF attachments if I receive said PDFs in my Gmail account.

Im having the same problem, most pdf attachments work fine but I have a supplier who I can only view a blank page as the data does not display. Any ideas on how to correct this problem?

Actually, there is a TRANSPOSE Function, but no Command or Tool for that. It's one of the more useful and popular omissions in Numbers. Perhaps because it falls into the "didn't plan ahead so now I need a tool" category of features, it didn't make the cut.
Use of the Transpose Function is described in the Function Browser, the Help feature and in the Functions of Formulas User Guide PDF. It involves using the INDEX function to read out the array created by the Transpose function. Another way to do this is to use the OFFSET function in an expression and by exchanging the row and column references.
Yvan Koenig has written an Applescript that will automate the transposition for data and for certain simple expressions. You can get it from his Box Account, on this page.

Adobe Reader for mobile search result is INCORRECT. It is inconsistent with the search results from other PDF reader apps.
I have a spreadsheet file converted into a PDF. Doing a search on the document using a Adobe Reader on a PC shows 14 search results. Opening the same document on the Google Drive app also shows 14 search results. But when opening the same file to the Adobe Reader for Android, it only shows two results. (See screenshots (left/first is from Adobe Reader for Android)).
My device is an Xperia Z2 with Android 4.4.4.

It seems that Adobe Reader for mobile has issues only to this file. I have not thoroughly tested it with other PDF files though, but just this 1 out of the 5 files I have tried had issues. Attached herewith is the file I used the search with. Sent a copy to your email [email protected] too.
Note that the file was made from a spreadsheet in a PC and then saved as PDF from the same spreadsheet application.

I am having the exact same problem. But it seems rare since no one has responded to this post. A web search turns up a number sketchy website claiming that kswebshield.dll is some sort of malware, but there are no results when you search for it on McAfee.com - no results. But Malwarebytes.org has a couple results, neither of them are helpful.

OK.... Here's what I found. An answer to this post describes the solution (http://www.precisesecurity.com/qa/?p=1829) (scroll down to see the answer). Since Kingsoft appears to be a legitimate company they should be working adobe to figure out why their software conflicts with Adobe Reader (and who know's which other Adobe products).
None of the following products identified Kingsoft as a problem; McAfee, Malware Bytes and Spybot Search & Destroy.
To elaborate on the instructions in the email, I did the following:
1. Disabled the KingSoft service.
2. Backed up my Registry
3. Deleted the following folders and registry keys:
C:\ProgramData\kingsoft
C:\ProgramData\WDD
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Kingsoft Antivirus WebShield Service
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\services\Kingsoft Antivirus WebShield Service
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Kingsoft Antivirus WebShield Service
* I was unable to use the "Delete With Wiping" feature in Windows 7 x64, even after reboot. But, when I Shift+Deleted the files they successfully dissappeared. I'm going to download BCwipe and wipe the slack space on my machine just to be safe.
4. Finally, successfully, launched Adobe Reader.
