Adobe reader conflicting with s-note?

Hi,
I have a galaxy note 10.1 tablet, which comes with the s-note app for handwritten notes. I read that it is possible to import and annotate pdf files in s-note. However, adobe seems to take over s-note. That is, I am able to follow the procedure described e.g. here, but when I get to the point where I choose the file to be imported (about 20s from beginning), a dialog pops up asking me whether I want to use acrobat or polaris office, and the pdf is opened in either program.
Has any of you experienced the same behavior?
I suspect this might be caused by acrobat reader, because I installed it after a while, whereas polaris office was shipped with the tablet.
I am not sure though.
I'll probably uninstall acrobat reader, since I'm becoming convinced that it's pretty much useless for my purposes. I mainly need it for annotating pdfs (underline, highlight), as I currently do on my laptop.
However, as explained in this other post, the annotation tools in acrobat reader for android are very disappointing.
Thanks for any insight
Francesco

I don't think any of the scenarios you are envisaging are possible.  Protected Mode is enabled/disabled on a user basis (in HKEY_USERS).

  • Adobe Reader conflicts with Adobe Acrobat?

It looks like there are some conflicts between Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat:
I just downloaded Adobe Reader 9 without problems but when running the downloaded file(.exe) the seup is interrupted before Adobe Reader 9 could be completelly installed. A message shows up saying: "Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\Adobe Reader 6.0.msi".
In fact, I had Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0 installed some timew ago, but it was properly uninstalled as I did everything possible to completelly uninstall it, inclusive runing Registry Clean.
The same problem arises if I try do install a previous version of Adobe Reader (e.g. 8.0).
Can anyone please help to solve this probem?
    Thank you.

This is not a solution, it is a work-around for bad programming practices.
I recently had a problem with links from one document to another for literature on our website. The problem was with both Acrobat and Reader where if I did not check the Internet Prefference "Display PDF in browser", the pdf document would download into my "Tempoary Internet Files" folder. From there it expected to find and open the linked document. Our literature website downloads all literature from a common folder on the host.
This problem came up after upgrading (or is it downgrading?) from Windows XP to Windows 7. It was not a problem with Windows XP.
The fix for links was to check Internet Prefference "Display PDF in browser". Now the fix for error 1316 is to UNCHECK Internet Prefference "Display PDF in browser".
I want both Acrobat and Reader loaded in my system so I can TEST the form or any changes I make from Acrobat.
I am really frustrated by this, especially when I get calls from my customers who are accessing our literature online and having the same problems. What do I tell them? Contact Adobe? NOT GOOD ENOUGH. GIVE ME A REAL SOLUTION, GUYS!!!
FYI: Try using FireFox or Opera browser. You may have better results.

  • Adobe Reader Conflict with Trackpad?

I thought I was having trackpad problems until I noticed that it mostly happens when I have Reader 7.0.5 open, even when it's in the background. The trackpad will be very unresponsive. Has anyone had this problem? Are there other applications that also affect trackpad performance?

I have the Mac OS 10.9.4  I am unable to read PDF's, so thought I would download the latest version of Adobe Reader.  It will not install.  Is it comparable with my Mac OS?

    More information would be good.
What do you mean by "unable to read PDF's". How are you trying to read them and what exactly happens when you try?
so thought I would download the latest version of Adobe Reader.  It will not install.
    Again, what exactly is happening?
And yes, the latest version should be compatible with your OS.

  • How to open Adobe Reader DC with Tools Closed

I do NOT like Adobe Reader opening with the right column expanded.
Also in all previous versions I could save my login for protected pdf files and when I open them back up they require a login again.  This is NOT how I want to work with Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader XI was so much better.

Before the DC version we were able to save our passwords from University of Phoenix and when opening the document saved to our computer it would unlock automatically.  This new version DC will not allow this even when you say Yes.
The Right Column in previous versions would allow to disable until requested to appear this version it opens regardless.
Just my opinion here  Adobe Failed at customer satisfaction on this UPGRADE.
    Regards a unhappy Adobe user.

  • PDX index works in adobe reader 9.4 but not in adobe X !!

Hello I have some commercial genealogy DVD's, bought a few years ago, with PDX files on them that work fine with adobe reader  9.4  but not in  adobe reader X.   Adobe reader X says they are invalid PDX index files. Ofcourse adobe says that version X is Backward compatible and I must contact the vendor of my dvd's !!!.
Does anybody else has this problem ?
I do not have the pro version so I cannot rebuild the indexes myself.
    Hans
PS for now I have removed version 10 and re-installed version 9.4
    Windows XP SP3

"Adobe Reader X doesn't support search catalogs created with Acrobat 5 or earlier.
You may try Adobe Reader 9 or create new catalogs with Acrobat X Pro."
I actually contacted my vendor and he is sending me a new disk free of charge . He told me he had to destroy his whole stock of cd's that contains old pdx files.

  • Adobe Reader XI - Save button not enabled in Firefox 19, 20, 21

This problem only seems to occur in Firefox. IE9 and Chrome 20+ seem to behave properly. We have customers complaining that they are having a difficult time figuring out how to save PDF files from our scientific research web application. While, cntrl-shift-s and File->Save As are still available to them, they are confused that the "Save" icon that appears on the reader is greyed out.
I had read the following blog post concerning the problem involving URLs with over 259 characters.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/page/3/
While our URLs are long and they are cgi-based in format, they didn't quite make it to 259 characters.
I took our code base and created a very short path-based URL, removing special characters, such as periods and hyphens from the file name, and making sure that the tail of the URL contained the name of the pdf file, and the save icon was still greyed out.
Installing Adobe Reader 9.5, and 10.0.4 seemed to exhibit the same behavior in Firefox.
Are there currently any known issues with how Adobe Reader behaves with Firefox?
    Are there any possible work-arounds?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the screenshot, Pat. I think the light bulb went off for me. I was looking over the tips for configuring Firefox at the link:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html
And I think what confused me the most was this screen shot for plug-ins for Firefox mentioned Acrobat.
I had Acrobat installed myself, but most of our users do not use Acrobat, since it's not a free product. I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat, and the Adobe Acrobat plug-in was still there, so that forced me to realize that the plug-in that comes with Adobe Reader 11.0.3 is called "Adobe Acrobat".
I went into Tools->Options->Applications and selected "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)", rather than "Use Adobe Reader (default)".
This now allows me to not only view PDFs within a browser window in Firefox, but it also enables the save icon (which "Use Adobe Reader (default)" was not allowing me to do:
It's a shame that the default setting is not for "in browser", because our customers may have to make a configuration change.
There is no way to programmatically force a configuration change on a user's browser, is there?

Once again, my thanks for your assistance. If I may impose on your generosity one more time, if I understand you correctly if I create a document on Word or WordPerfect, print it and scan it to create a pdf, the search function will not work. But, if I create the pdf document in Word the search function will work. Unfortunately, I am not sure how I create a pdf document in Word other than by printing it and scanning it. Could you please explain.

  • Reading PDF with Links not working in iOS or Android

    Good day all,
I have created a PDF file that has links to other PDFs.  The file would be over 500 pages long, and too large to download to devices for viewing, so we as a company have determined that the best thing is to create Bookmarks and/or Table of Contents.
I have tried both of the following ways, and neither work...so any help would be appriciated.
First, create a link in the main document with "Go to a page in another document" action item.  When you open the main PDF document and click on the link...it returns an error as Page Not Found in any PDF viewer on a mobile device (including Adobe Reader).
Second, create a link with "Open a web link" action item.   When you open the main PDF document from any PDF viewer on the mobile device and click on the link, it will then open the browser to view the second document.  We would want it to open within the viewer on the mobile device.
I have tried to post this in the Adobe Reader section, and did not get a response...trying here now....seems I cannot get an answer from anyone at Adobe either.

do you know of any way to get this functionality on mobile devices?

  • Adobe Reader Performance with Protect Mode On

We are getting very poor performance in opening PDF documents with Adobe Reader XI with Protected Mode on, particularly for users remote from our central server.  With Protected Mode off, performance is much better (10-20X faster opening).  Note that we are running Windows 7 with Application Data Roaming and Adobe Reader XI with Protected Mode on, Protected View off, and Advanced Security on.  We have diagnosed the problem as follows: We are using the Windows 7 Application Roaming Data feature to house some profile data for our remote users, and when they try to open a PDF document with Protected Mode on, Adobe sends numerous I/O packets (approximatel 6000!) across the "wire" for security checking against the Application Roaming data file on the central server, thus greatly slowing PDF opening.  We would like to know the following: 1) Is there a way to turn-off Protected Mode for company server stored documents, while keeping it active for documents received from external sources (e.g. from the internet, e-mail, etc.). 2) is there a way to have Protect Mode security verification done only on the local machine profile data and not on the centrally stored Application Roaming Data file (thus greatly reducing the "across the wire" I/O traffic).  Thanks for any help, CCB.

I don't think any of the scenarios you are envisaging are possible.  Protected Mode is enabled/disabled on a user basis (in HKEY_USERS).

  • Adobe Reader clashing with web browser, problem. Help

    Hello,
I've been using Foxit Reader before using Adobe Reader. Now when i'm trying to view pdf files in firefox there is this error showing "The Adobe Reader cannot be used to view pdf files in a web browser". I've tried reinstalling adobe reader but this problem persists. Below is a screenshot of the problem. This might be a bug in the program as i have done the needful and set adobe as the deafult pdf file manager or the web browser might be clashing with this version of adobe reader. I'm not sure why this is happening and would like someone to educate me on this.
Please let me know of any solution to this problem. I'm on Windows XP.
    Thanks,
    Ritwick

Adobe Reader XI Pro does not recognize Samsung Multifunction Xpress M2875FD. I can not edit the PDF documents that I scan it. What do I do?

We need to find out what you actually have here. There is no Adobe Reader Pro. There is Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
With Acrobat Pro, you may be able to do some editing after running OCR. With Adobe Reader, you cannot edit.
    Which one do you have?
