Adobe Reader Crashes on Print?

I have created a dynamic xml form in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. The target is for 9.0 and higher. When clients open the document in Reader 11.0.02, fill out the form and press print, it immediately crashes Reader. If they are using Acrobat, the document fills and prints fine.
Any help is appreciatied!

I do not have a solution.  Can you check if there are any information in the Event Logs that could give some insight what exactly is crashing?

    Dear sir,

sorry will not be able to attach the pdf file - The file isn't damaged as it will print from other printers as  they all use the same print drivers as they print through a print server.
I have also attached to the printer off-line and used new printer drivers from HP and it still fails 20 page pdf and stops at page 9 saying cannot extract correct font.
the file was created in Quark express ver 8.

  • Adobe Reader Crashes when I attempt to print a PDF

    Hi,
I am running 11.0.02 Adobe Reader on my Macbook Pro (10.6.8 Snow Leopard). Each time I download a pdf via Safari (5.1.8) and try to print, Adobe Reader locks up and crashes.
When we logged in on a guest account on my Mackbook Pro, the problem disappeared. Printing Worked.
Logged back in as me, then deleted a number of p.list files in my library preferences, even tried deleting and resintalling Adobe Reader. Still the same problem. Try to print a pdf document in Safari, Adobe Reader locks up and crashes. Save the same file to the desktop and open it directly in Adobe Reader, try to print, Adobe Reader locks up and crashes.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
    David

    Hello Pat,
    You are absolutely the BEST.
I followed your two recommendations and now the program is working perfectly. Yes, my Reader XI was version 11.0.10 when I was having the problems.
I never would have figured out the solution to the problem without your help.  I was very pleased with your follow through.
I really appreciate your help.  THANK YOU! – THANK YOU!
Adobe is a great program – I have used it for years and this is the first time I have had any problem.
    Kind regards,
    Hartley

  • Adobe reader crashes when I print a pdf

When I try and print a PDF document, Adobe Reader crashes.  The rainbow pinwheel of death comes up.  The Force Quit dialogue box says that Adobe reader is not responsive.  What do I do?

Thanks.  Lots of us on Macs never install Adobe stuff.  With Preview you can do a lot of things (like instant alpha, and dragging pages from one pdf to another).  Are you also aware that in the Print menu there is a direct Print to PDF option?
    Have fun.

  • Adobe Reader 9 pdf printing turns text into symbols

I am trying to print a pdf file, when it starts printing all of the text turns into random symbols, I am trying to print a rebate and this is really frustrating. I saved the online pdf to my HardDrive, then I try to print it after opening with Adobe Reader 9. I have tried printing it as an image, and still the same occurs, my printer is fine, it prints word documents and notepad perfectly, I have all the latest updates, so I do not know why this is happening.

I do realize that not all printers are affected. However, the problem is clearly with Adobe Reader 9. The reason I say this is that the problem does NOT exist with Adobe Reader 8. The problem ONLY occurs with Adobe Reader 9. Furthermore, I am not sure what specific resolution to this printer you are referring to, but there hasn't been a solution presented thus far that is an actual fix for the problem. Originally, I identified that if I selected "Print to Image" the entire multi-page PDF would print as expected. Although, this solution causes the multi-page PDF to print very slowly (for the reasons noted by Mike). Another reader reported that if you install FoxIT PDF Reader, multi-page PDFs print just fine. I have verified that installing FoxIT Reader DOES INDEED allow me to print multi-page PDFs to our FS-C5015N. Again, if it was purely a driver issue, why would a multi-page PDF opened with FoxIT Reader print as expected while the same PDF opened with Adobe Reader 9, not print as expected? There also were a couple other posts about using the generic Kyocera KX driver. This is not an option for us. Finally, there was a post about changing the Post Script driver setings. We do not use the Post Script driver. And just as a side note, we have tried using the Post Script driver to see if this will resolve the multi-page PDF issue, and it does not. With that said, I implore Adobe to once again acknowledge this problem and provide users with a fix. This is a very frustrating problem.

  • Why should Adobe Reader fail to print because of settings in the Edit/Preferences?

Why should Adobe Reader fail to print because of settings
    in the Edit/Preference?
    Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.10
    MS Window 7
    File > Print > Print
    I got the error message:
The document could not be printed
I googled this error message and used the following
solution that worked i.e. it then printed successfully.
    Edit >  Preferences
Category: Security(Enhancement)   'Enable Protected  Mode at Startup'
It was checked, changed it to unchecked.
Category: Documents    'View documents in PDF/Mode'
It was set to 'Only for PDF/A'
    Set it to 'Never'
Exited Adobe Reader and restart it. Then it printed.
I had a look on another computer system (Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.10
and MS Window 7) and on this different computer I could print
without doing the above two changes.
I'm a bit puzzled. Why preferences on one system were not
    needed on a different system?

Here is an elaborate method of troubleshooting this problem. There may be a simpler method if anybody wants to suggest one.
There is a general technique that is helpful in this situation. I can't give you complete instructions here, and I haven't tested this with regard to bluetooth devices, but here's the gist of it.
Create a second log-on account for your music projects. Configure it so that when you log in to the new music account, the drivers needed for the Bluetooth devices don't load. You do this in System Preferences: Accounts.
When it's time to do music, log out of your usual account and onto the new one.
When you install drivers for any peripheral, you have the option of installing them "for all users" or only for the user account that is active during the installation.
This governs whether the drivers go in root/library or root/Users/your name/library.
If drivers are in root/library, they will load whenever the Mac is booted up and will run for all users.
But if drivers are loaded in root/Users/your name/library, they will only load if you log in as "your name". If you have a second account called root/Users/music account/, and you log in under that, the drivers in "your name" will not load. Get it?
To get this working right you need to be knowledgeable about moving or deleting files in the /library/ directory and subdirectories, and you need to be careful because you can unwittingly cause some damage if you are not careful.
There is also the root/System/library directory, and in general you should never mess around with anything in there or you might hose your system.
In summary, I would start by using the installer programs for your BlueTooth devices and DE-installing all drivers. Reboot. Log back in as your usual user account. Then RE-install each driver and see if the installer program gives you the OPTION to installl for all users or just for this user. Choose the latter. Then log on to your new Music account and see if the problems go away.

  • How do I add adobe reader to my printer so I can print a pdf?

How do I add adobe reader to my printer so I can print a pdf?

Are you trying to print to a PDF from Adobe Reader?
If so, you need Acrobat for that. Reader doesn't not install a PDF printer.

  • Adobe reader crashes when 2 fillable PDF's are open

We are having trouble with Adobe reader on all levels. versions 9 10 and 11 are having this problem. When we have 2 fillable PDF's open and we Tab in one or copy and paste from one to another the program crashes with no warnings. It will close both files down like we had pressed the Close buttons. Acrord32.exe crashes each time is what i have noticed. I have not messed with Registry yet because I didn't think it would be needed at this moment since it is multiple computers. This is what I have done to try and fix this error and other pertinent information:
    -Changed 3D settings
    -Changed Security Settings
-upgraded from 9 to 10, 9 to 11, 11 to 10, 11 to 9, and it has been set back to 11 now
    -uninstalled, reinstalled
-Broke some files and repaired the program
-tested on multiple computers with same results
-All systems are XP. on 7 it seems to be stable
-tested multiple forms with same results
If you need more information please let me know. Thank you for any help you can give me.
    Thanks again,

I have adobe reader 11.0.09 installed on Windows 2008 R2 configured as Terminal server with Citrix XenApp 6.5 installed. The Server is hosting on average 14 - 15 simultaneous sessions. Adobe reader is installed on the server. The server is provisioned via Citrix Provisioning server 6.x
    The problem:
The User with regular credentials opens two PDF files with writable fields at the same time. The user accesses the environment via remote access with Citrix receiver installed on his / her local desktop. The user fills up the text field on the first form and copies the text from the fields of first form to the appropriate fields of the second form. After few minutes adobe reader crashes.
After I was investigating the issue, I found that at certain point the application crashes and throws a record into the ProcMon list
    More details from ProcMon
After the crash of the application, the highlighted section in the snapshot above disappears and the application at this time is dead.
This issue happens only when the PDF forms are opened with Adobe reader on Windows 2008R2. I have tested Adobe Reader 11.0.7 and 11.0.8 all of them are crashing the same way.
    Help is more than welcome.
    Thank You

  • Installed Adobe Reader X Cannot print. All Fixes futile!

Have OS Windows XP Installed Adobe Reader X and cannot print. Documents open properly and can be manipulated according to their limitations except I cannot print. Printer is HP Officejet 4500 Wireless. Have converted back to hard connection for this process. Connection not an issue. Everything else except the pdfs will print normally. Printing a pdf elicits no response from the printer. Does not show in queue. Hard attached another older HP printer. It does respond by pulling blank paper thru machine. Have full warranty on HP printer and have been thru detailed process with them. Does not appear to be a printer issue. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Tried all the same fixes. Still does not work. Connected to old printer.
Printer responded, but did not print.

I created a brochure in pages and exported it to a pdf format. The pdf looks and opens perfectly using preview but when opened in adobe reader (which my printer uses), fonts look odd, transparencies don't display...etc. Tells me error exists on page?

Does this essentially mean there is no way to fix this problem on my end? It's a pity because the design and branding of my brochure will suffer if I remove transparencies and use different fonts. It also concerns me moving forward because it means the quality of print on my pieces will be significantly lower because most commercial printers use Adobe products.

  • Updated Adobe AIR and now Adobe reader crashes when trying to open PDFs created by Livescribe

Adobe AIR auto-updated earlier this afternoon, and now every time I try to open a PDF created by Livescribe, Adobe Reader crashes.
    Adobe Reader XI ver. 11.0.0.379
    Adobe AIR ver. 3.5.0.1060
    Windows 7 Pro, SP1
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both AIR and Reader, to no avail. I can provide install log for AIR if needed (just need to know how to upload it, or if you'd rather me paste the text).
    Thanks for any help,
    -Rick

    Hi Rick,
I'm surprised that the AIR update would cause Reader to crash.  I received an update to Reader recently (yesterday I think), could this have also occurred on your system?  Regardless, we should be able to drop back to an earlier version of AIR to try it out.  Just uninstall and then grab AIR 3.4 located here:
    http://download.macromedia.com/air/win/download/3.4/AdobeAIRInstaller.exe
Please let me know if this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Reader crashes on importing form XML data larger than 500KB

I'm trying to import XML data into a PDF form using Adobe Reader. When the file size of the XML is smaller than 500 kilobytes, the PDF form loads the data fine. However, any larger than this leads to Adobe Reader crashing without a warning or error message.
I've tried this with Aodbe Reader versions 7.0.5, v9 and even the latest Adobe Reader X: same result. So the latest version does not have any patches for this issue so far.
To be more specific, the form is an IPC-1752-2 v1.0 Material Composition Declaration form. The XML data is generated by a software. Some of the XML files worked fine but others caused Reader to crash. Experimenting with a repeating data node, I tried different file sizes and came to the conclusion that Reader crashes past around 500KB.
Any patches or quick workarounds will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

Firstly I woudl not use the submit by email button (it is too restrictive). You could create or build an email submit button. Just drop a regular button on the form (change the caption to something more meaningful). Now make it a submit button. A submit tab becaomes active. Click on that. In the Submit to URL field enter in the command:
mailto:[email protected], youremail [email protected]?subject="This is a subject"&cc="ccaddress if req"&body="This is the body if required"
You can control all parts of the message this way. Do a google search for mailto to see all of the different options.
Now you need to set what you are going to send. In the Submit As dropdown, choose PDF. Now a PDF will be sent. To be able to allow all users to send PDF you will have to Reader Extend the form. You can do this in Acrobat. Once all of this is done, open the form in Acrobat and under the Advanced menu choose Extend Features in Adobe Reader. Now follow the wizard and save your form. Distribute the saved form.
