Adobe reader crashes when 2 fillable PDF's are open

We are having trouble with Adobe reader on all levels. versions 9 10 and 11 are having this problem. When we have 2 fillable PDF's open and we Tab in one or copy and paste from one to another the program crashes with no warnings. It will close both files down like we had pressed the Close buttons. Acrord32.exe crashes each time is what i have noticed. I have not messed with Registry yet because I didn't think it would be needed at this moment since it is multiple computers. This is what I have done to try and fix this error and other pertinent information:
-Changed 3D settings
-Changed Security Settings
-upgraded from 9 to 10, 9 to 11, 11 to 10, 11 to 9, and it has been set back to 11 now
-uninstalled, reinstalled
-Broke some files and repaired the program
-tested on multiple computers with same results
-All systems are XP. on 7 it seems to be stable
-tested multiple forms with same results
If you need more information please let me know. Thank you for any help you can give me.
Thanks again,

I have adobe reader 11.0.09 installed on Windows 2008 R2 configured as Terminal server with Citrix XenApp 6.5 installed. The Server is hosting on average 14 - 15 simultaneous sessions. Adobe reader is installed on the server. The server is provisioned via Citrix Provisioning server 6.x
The problem:
The User with regular credentials opens two PDF files with writable fields at the same time. The user accesses the environment via remote access with Citrix receiver installed on his / her local desktop. The user fills up the text field on the first form and copies the text from the fields of first form to the appropriate fields of the second form. After few minutes adobe reader crashes.
After I was investigating the issue, I found that at certain point the application crashes and throws a record into the ProcMon list
More details from ProcMon
After the crash of the application, the highlighted section in the snapshot above disappears and the application at this time is dead.
This issue happens only when the PDF forms are opened with Adobe reader on Windows 2008R2. I have tested Adobe Reader 11.0.7 and 11.0.8 all of them are crashing the same way.
Help is more than welcome.
Thank You

    Dear sir,

sorry will not be able to attach the pdf file - The file isn't damaged as it will print from other printers as  they all use the same print drivers as they print through a print server.
I have also attached to the printer off-line and used new printer drivers from HP and it still fails 20 page pdf and stops at page 9 saying cannot extract correct font.
the file was created in Quark express ver 8.

  • Adobe reader crashes when I print a pdf

When I try and print a PDF document, Adobe Reader crashes.  The rainbow pinwheel of death comes up.  The Force Quit dialogue box says that Adobe reader is not responsive.  What do I do?

Thanks.  Lots of us on Macs never install Adobe stuff.  With Preview you can do a lot of things (like instant alpha, and dragging pages from one pdf to another).  Are you also aware that in the Print menu there is a direct Print to PDF option?
    Have fun.

  • Updated Adobe AIR and now Adobe reader crashes when trying to open PDFs created by Livescribe

Adobe AIR auto-updated earlier this afternoon, and now every time I try to open a PDF created by Livescribe, Adobe Reader crashes.
    Adobe Reader XI ver. 11.0.0.379
    Adobe AIR ver. 3.5.0.1060
    Windows 7 Pro, SP1
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both AIR and Reader, to no avail. I can provide install log for AIR if needed (just need to know how to upload it, or if you'd rather me paste the text).
    Thanks for any help,
    -Rick

    Hi Rick,
I'm surprised that the AIR update would cause Reader to crash.  I received an update to Reader recently (yesterday I think), could this have also occurred on your system?  Regardless, we should be able to drop back to an earlier version of AIR to try it out.  Just uninstall and then grab AIR 3.4 located here:
    http://download.macromedia.com/air/win/download/3.4/AdobeAIRInstaller.exe
Please let me know if this helps.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Adobe Reader 9.4.2 - PDFs won't open in IE 8 & IE 9

The recent Adobe Reader 9.4.2 is causing issues with PDFs opening in IE 8 and 9 browsers.  Prior to this update our users have had no issues with opening PDFs generated by our website.
Our website generates USPS labels using Siberix ReportWriter software.  We have not released any updates for at least a month.  Again, before the release of Adobe Reader 9.4.2, there was no issues with our website's PDFs opening in IE browsers.
    User System Specs:
Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 Ultimate
    Adobe Reader 9.4.2
Internet Explorer 8 - "File Download" window issue
Internet Explorer 9 - "File Download" window issue
    Firefox 3.6.13 - No Issues
Chrome 9.0.597.98 (with Adobe Reader 9.4.2 plugin enabled and Chrome PDF Viewer disabled) - No Issues
The "File Download" window states the following (in addition to a Save and a Cancel button): "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program.  It is either corrupt or it has an incorrect file type.  As a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download. ..."
We have the following workarounds to address this issue with our customers, but they are not ideal:
    Update to Adobe Reader X
Disable "Display PDF in browser" Reader option
    Don't update Adobe Reader 9 to 9.4.2
    Install other PDF Reading software.
Any solutions to this issue would be appriciated.
    Thanks

We are experiencing the same problem, as I mentioned below. I did some research and experimentation, and have a ... workaround. It's not completely satisfactory, but we will go with it until we have a complete solution. Perhaps the following will help others and spur some research in the right direction.
First, a quick review. The problem does not occur with PDFs located on disk; it only occurs with direct streaming of PDF data. Let's also note that the problem does NOT occur with other browsers, e.g. FireFox. So ... technically the problem is not an Adobe Reader problem and we're all on the wrong forum.
My specialty is databases and I'm certainly no expert in this area, but from what I'm able to gather the problem is instead with how IE is recognizing and responding to the MIME type of the streamed data. We're all setting the contenttype to "application/pdf" (or similar) or we wouldn't even be here. But I'm concluding that something - some windows update - has changed the way IE on clients or (in my case) IIS on the server is handling that data stream. If any of you experiencing this issue have servers other than IIS, then the problem is on the client side, I'd say.
Aaaaaanyway, the following articles are old, but helped me:
    http://forums.asp.net/p/1036628/1436084.aspx
    http://www.techper.net/2008/02/27/4-ways-to-stream-pdf-and-some-tips/
To cut to the chase, the workaround we're going with for now is to add the following to the http response header (this is C#/ASP.NET code):
    Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=myfile.pdf");
That causes a popup dialog to appear asking the user to open or save the PDF, something that is familiar to most everyone. If the user asks to open the file, it appears in a browser window just as it did before this problem occurred. Again, this is a temporary solution, but at least the user can see the PDF data in a browser with one extra mouse click.
If an Adobe tech support person or anyone with more experience in this area knows the final solution, I'd LOVE to hear it. Please reply here or in email.
    Thanks and good luck all.

  • Adobe Reader Crashes when I attempt to print a PDF

    Hi,
I am running 11.0.02 Adobe Reader on my Macbook Pro (10.6.8 Snow Leopard). Each time I download a pdf via Safari (5.1.8) and try to print, Adobe Reader locks up and crashes.
When we logged in on a guest account on my Mackbook Pro, the problem disappeared. Printing Worked.
Logged back in as me, then deleted a number of p.list files in my library preferences, even tried deleting and resintalling Adobe Reader. Still the same problem. Try to print a pdf document in Safari, Adobe Reader locks up and crashes. Save the same file to the desktop and open it directly in Adobe Reader, try to print, Adobe Reader locks up and crashes.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
    David

    Hello Pat,
    You are absolutely the BEST.
I followed your two recommendations and now the program is working perfectly. Yes, my Reader XI was version 11.0.10 when I was having the problems.
I never would have figured out the solution to the problem without your help.  I was very pleased with your follow through.
I really appreciate your help.  THANK YOU! – THANK YOU!
Adobe is a great program – I have used it for years and this is the first time I have had any problem.
    Kind regards,
    Hartley

  • Adobe Reader crashes when opening any PDF

    Hello!
I have the latest Adobe Reader installed on my parent's laptop. When we try to open ANY PDFs in it, the program crashes and displays the "Adobe Reader has stopped working...." message. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program multiple times and still can't fix the issue. My dad needs it to fill out tax forms when the time comes.

    Hi raptorsama,
Is there any specific error that comes?
You might need to navigate to ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader'', then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement.
If this does not work, then follow these standard steps as given below:
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 (Ref: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services
    (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
    > Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check
You can also go for a repair option by selecting 'Repair Adobe Reader Installation' option under the Help menu.

  • Adobe Reader 10.0.1 hangs when multiple PDF files are open, widespread problem, big issue

  • Adobe Reader crashes when closing

    Hi all
Been having some problems with adobe reader recently- not critical, just annoying. It runs fine, but then when I close it, windows tells me its crashed. Has anyone else heard of this? Might it be a sign something is corrupt somewhere?
I'm running version 10.1.0 on Vista if that helps.
    Thanks very much
    Jonny

When the system asks you to send a crash report to Microsoft, please do.
It will be forwarded to us so we can take a look. I am not sure if we have gotten enough reports of this kind so far.
If a crash happens after viewing a specific pdf file, let us have it so we can investigate directly, if there are no copyright or privacy issues.
Attach the file here or file a bug report at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&promoid=EWQQL
The bug report form doesn't let you attach a file. Include your e-mail address or URL where we can get the file.
    Thanks

  • Adobe reader crashes when opening, both local and from Firefox

Running Windows XP, Firefox 3.6.    Adobe 9.3 crashes Firefox when I attempt to view a downloaded pdf.  When I start adobe reader from Windows "Start" it begins to start with Adobe ID screen, then stops with no other effect or error message.
Reader 9.3 worked successfully for months.  Problem started after computer maintenance and cleaning up of excess files and services running in the background.  I have not experienced problems with any other programs.
When the problem arose I uninstalled with Windows Add/Remove Program.  Rebooted then reinstalled 9.3.  Same problem.
I used Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to clean up adobe.  Notice that many files and folders still exist in /Program Files/Adobe/Reader 9.0 , so I renamed folder to "OLD Reader 9.0"
Reinstalled 9.3 ....still did not work.  Uninstalled, rebooted, then installed Reader 8.2.  Still not working.
Somewhere in the process I also uninstalled Adobe Air and Acrobat.com.
What would cause Adobe Reader to not fully start, and to crash Firefox when it does try to start as a plug-in?  How can I manually uninstall ALL of Adobe Reader?
    Thanks for any input,
    Mark

Ok, I just went to start up Reader 8.0, it failed with no event on screen.  Event viewer gave me no report under Application.  Under System I found a slewof these...

  • Adobe reader crashes when I try and start up

As in title, just tried to open various pdf docs but the program crashes after a few secs, I have win 8.1 running latest reader which I have just removed and reinstalled.

    Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Adobe reader crash when open

I haven't been able to open adobe reader on my iPad for the pass two days. Each time I attempt to open the app it crashes immediately.
is there a way to to solve this problem?
I really don't  want to reinstall the app because I have a lot of files/Ebooks on it and redownloading everything back in will be a pain in my ***.
    Thanks.

Try resetting your iPad. Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the Apple logo, then let go. The iPad will reset itself.
The other thing you can do is to remove Reader from memory, then relaunch it: Click on the Home button. Then double-click on the Home button to see the row of apps in memory. Press and hold down on the Reader app until you see the apps "jiggle" and see red delete signs. Click on the Reader app. Click the Home button and reload Reader.
