Adobe Reader DC Disable_Repair Registry key not working.

Hello friendly helpy folks.
I am installing Adobe Reader DC in a Citrix and RDS environment. I have successfully installed it as a MSI with the transform generated by the Customisation Wizard. However the "Repair Installation" function still needs to be hidden. Searching the interweb gave me this link Installer settings which says that the registry key Disable_Repair should hide it in all versions later than 10.x, however it doesn't. I also tried the HideMenuItems.js to no avail.
Has anyone had any luck with either of these methods? Or can anyone point to me to a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Joe.

I referenced the ETk to get everything turned off except does anyone have any idea how to disable the "store and share files in the document cloud" piece in the tools pane?

  • Adobe Reader 'Attach to Email' is not working

I have a client that is running Windows 7 and when opening a PDF with Adobe Reader is unable to use the "Attach to Email" function. We tried this with Adobe X, Adobe 9.3, Adobe 9.4.2. None of these will work. An error occurs: "Acrobat is unable to connect to your email program." We get the same error on any of these versions. For some reason Adobe 9.3.4 upgrade does not install with 9.3, where I read in a resource discussion that this version should work ion Windows 7.
Adobe Reader X seems to be a known issue with Windows 7 for this problem. My client recently upgraded from Windows XP and did not have this problem on that OS. A current work-around is to save the PDF then attach it to an email, but she would greatly prefer to use the Attach to Email function within Adobe Reader without having to save the PDF and manually attach it.
    Thanks for any help!

I have the same issue using Acrobat X and Thunderbird 3.1.6 on Windows 7.  Attach to email function is NOT working.
It worked when I had outlook 2007 installed, but I couldn't find where to change the setting to thunderbird.
I uninstalled outlook.  Now the attach to email feature won't work at all.
Thunderbird is set to the default email client in windows . . . this is extremely annoying!!
File > Attach to email . . .  It appears this feature doesn't work with any emails client except outlook??????
Attach to email worked on WinXP for Lotus Notes 8.5 email client (maybe an older Adobe Reader, version 9.4), but not after we upgraded to Win7. No Adobe Reader versions we have tried will work on Win7 for Lotus Notes.

  • Adobe Reader XI (11.0.04) not working on Windows 8

    Hello,
All of the sudden Adobe reader XI (11.0.04) stopped working on my computer running Windows 8. When opening any .pdf it opens then stops responding then just closes by itself. No error messages or anything. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling, running is compatibility modes or as admin, and turning off protected mode. All of these had no affect on the issue. Is there any available fix for this or an available version that is working on Windows 8?
    Thank you Adobe community,
    Brad

    Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Adobe Reader 9.0 Help/F1 NOT working

I have Adobe Reader 9.0 installed to a server. Client machines access and run it from the server, e.g. \\

It has never been supported. If this is the worst thing that happens,
    be very happy.
Almost all modern software needs to be installed properly on each

I am also having issues with it. I tried to open it while online to see my employment packets. Not recognized and not working at all when working online.
I have noticed that if your using IE and none of the other browsers.. it works just fine. Yet if you use the other browsers... It will not be recognized. This issue needs to be resolved to use on all browsers as I do not like IE. It gets too many bugs.

screen tells me the adobe folder is empty and that the "save as" function is malfunctioning when I try to download pdfs from a particular site. If I'm using EI - it freezed EI on the blank download screen.  I have deleted and redownloaded Adobe Reader but that didn't fix the problem. Any idea where the problem lies?

"screen tells me the adobe folder is empty" - exactly what do you mean by the "adobe folder" and what does the screen tell you?
"the save as function is malfunctioning" - exactly what happens?
Please give messages in full. Please give your system and version of Adobe Reader.

  • SCCM 2012 - Hardware Inventory Registry Import not working - Windows in the name of the Registry key

I downloaded the Reg to MOF tool and compiled some of our custom Registry Keys which worked fine. There was particular Key that didn't work and after some testing and messing around I realized why it isn't working:
The key I am using is: HKLM\Software\MyCompanyWindows
Because the key has the name Windows in it, it fails to import. I get the generic check the formatting for your MOF file error.
The MOF file you tried to import could not be compiled. Ensure that the MOF file contains valid data. You can use the command line mofcomp utility to test the data.
But if I run a MOFCOMP against the MOF I am trying to import it checks the syntax successfully.
If I change the key to MyCompanyWin or MyCompanyW it imports with no problem.
We have rolled out this key to almost every device in our organization and connected it to other inventory agents so there is no possibility of changing the key.
Is there any way to disable the validation check that SCCM is performing?

    Hi,
If possible, could you please upload the MOF file to SkyDrive?

First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

  • Remote registry: OpenRemoteBaseKey not working

    Hi
I'm trying to read a remote registry key. I have the Remote Registry service running on on the target machine, and I can read the key using `reg query`. In all honesty, this is good enough for my purposes.
    PS C:\> reg query "\\remote-machine\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer" /v VersionHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer    Version    REG_SZ    9.11.9600.17420
However, I'm curious to know why I can't do this with Powershell and OpenRemoteBaseKey. I've tried the following steps
    from here:
    PS C:\> $remote = "remote-machine"PS C:\> $type = [Microsoft.Win32.RegistryHive]::LocalMachine
    PS C:\> $reg = [Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey]::OpenRemoteBaseKey($type, $remote )
    PS C:\> $regpath = "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"
    PS C:\> $productkey = $reg.OpenSubKey($regpath)
    PS C:\> $productkey.getvalue("Version")
You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression.
    At line:1 char:1
    + $productkey.getvalue("Version")
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    + CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (:) [], RuntimeException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : InvokeMethodOnNull
Inspecting the values produced, $productkey is null, and $reg appears to be empty:
    PS C:\> $reg
    Name Property
    PS C:\> $reg.GetType()
    IsPublic IsSerial Name BaseType
    True False RegistryKey System.MarshalByRefObject
    PS C:\>
So, why would `reg query` work, while `OpenRemoteBaseKey()` does not? I can use `reg query` well enough in my scripts, but I'd prefer something a little more Powershell-y.
    Cheers

When you update IE, it does not necessarily update the 'Version' value in the registry.
    -- Bill Stewart [Bill_Stewart]
Okay. Are you referring to what is stated in the following paragraph from the same page you linked before?
Internet Explorer 3.x does not add the version value to the registry. Instead, it adds a "build" value to the same registry key and updates the "IVer" string value to "103." For backward compatibility, Internet Explorer 4.0 and later versions change or add the build value. For Internet Explorer 3.x, the build value is a string that contains the four-character build number. (For example, "1300" is the build value for Internet Explorer 3.02). For Internet Explorer 4.0 and later versions, the build value is a string that contains a five-character value, followed by a period and four more characters, in the following format:
If so, I think it does not apply after IE4. In which case, as all the machines on my domain are Windows 7 or Server 2008 installs, I don't think it's likely that they have such an old version installed.
