Adobe Reader DC, doesn't disable "Display PDF Document in the web browser" when option is unchecked.

The option under Accessibility>Setup Assistanct to uncheck the "Display PDF Document in the web browser" doesn't correctly disable Display PDF in browser when unchecked, it still defaults to opening in Internet Explorer even after restarting the browser. Confirmed this tested agianst with IE 8, 9, 10 and 11 with the same behavior. Moving back to Reader 11.0.10 and using this same setting works flawlessly. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I am out of the office until 1/22/13.

• Adobe Reader XI enterprise deploy-disable display PDF in browser?

There appears to be conflicting information about Adobe Reader XI and how to pre-configure the "disable display pdf in browser".
The Enterprise Administration Kit/Guide says you can do this via the MSI Property:
DISABLE_BROWSER_INTEGRATION = YES
However, acrobat help, indicates you can ONLY do this manually via individual browser add-ons.
I have the redestributable version from Adobe and I used the Enterprise Guide to make the AIP and used the Customization Wizard to create the package and am using the properties line when the msi is installed to disable the display
so which one is right?

• A problem displaying PDF file in the Web Browser layout.

I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I need to display my PDF documents in the web-browser layout as part of my daily job. I use JAWS 14, and many times, when my document is launched, it comes up blank, or at least that's what JAWS reports. If I press the F5 key to refresh the page, then it displays properly. I need the document to show up properly when it is initially loaded. How can I accomplish this?

• "Adobe Acrobat is blocked" - Where to I accept the end user agreement which will enable me to access Pdf documents on the web?

I keep getting this message when trying to open documents from the web:
"Adobe Acrobat is blocked" -
Where to I accept the end user agreement which will enable me to access Pdf documents on the web?
The Adobe website recommends this: (did not solve the problem)
Safari 7 and 6.1 block PDFs | Acrobat, Reader
Thanks for any help solving this annoying problem!
OSX 10.9.3
Safari 7.0.4
Acrobat Pro 11.0.0

Hello Isakten:
Thanks so much for your reply!
I already have Adobe Reader 11.0.7 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 installed.
Following your instructions, I then selected Reader as the desired Adobe product to open all PDFs. and save that choice. Still no difference, the same black screen and statement about the EULA shows up…
http://www.nhgastro.net/patients.html
BTW, this is the website that I was accessing……note the link to download and print the pdf which triggers the EULA page.
and also downloaded the latest version of Reader via their link….but to no success…..
This all started by itself months ago, I did no newer installs or settings changes, none……
Any other thoughts?
Thanks so much,
Steve

• Visual Studio 2013. Viewing a PDF file via the Web Browser control in Windows 8.1

I am writing a Windows Forms application in which I need to view PDF files via the Web Browser control. When the control is given the Navigate() command, Windows takes over and asks which program I want to open the file with. All was fine with VS 2010 and
XP. I have un-installed "PDF Complete", which was the default PDF viewer, but I now get asked for an alternative.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike,
It seems that we could use Internet Explorer to open a local .PDF file if it has the Adobe Reader. I doubt that the web control would be related to it. Like the MVP's suggset in the following thread, maybe it would be related
to certain plug-in tools in your side like the adober reader.

• PDF documents on the web appear in the address bar, but the documents don't display.

In the last week, every time I have clicked on a PDF document in Firefox, a new tab properly opens with the correct address in the box (ending with .pdf), but the documents don't appear.....? It seems to be a problem with the Adobe reader plug-in, but I've deleted, and reinstalled, the app, and nothing happens. There is no update indicated in the plug-in check.

Sorry I do not have answers, and do not know details of the Mac/Adobe plugins problems.
Conspiracy theorists may wonder whether Adobe is constantly reviewing cost/benefit of supporting various OS s & Browsers.
One may note
* Flash Ubuntu development has effectively ceased, with all support ceasing in a few years http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplatform/whitepapers/roadmap.html
* Firefox on Windows Flash11.3 et seq has had many problems, I certainly have not noticed Adobe rolling out rapid and successful fixes for those problems
* and Android support was dropped http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2012/06/flash-player-and-android-update.html

• Adobe Reader X is not properly displaying PDF's even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program.

I recently updated to Firefox 5.0. In April I also updated my Adobe Reader to Version X. Suddenly, pdf's do not open properly; they are fragmented, they "smear", and they do not cover the whole page. I uninstalled all of my Adobe files this morning and reinstalled Reader and Flash Player. I used the Windows Add/Remove feature for uninstalling. I gave up trying to open JPEG's months ago and now only use the Windows fax and picture displayer that. But now I'm having PDF issues. And I download a lot of PDF's.

• Display PDF document from Servlets to browser

Hi All,
I am displaying a PDF document in Servlet after reading the stream. PDF size is of more than 3MB, so it takes a lot of time to get downloaded and to display on the browser.
Is there anyway to display the initial pages to the browser (whatever data has been sent ). Can you please help me in this.
Please treat it as urgent
Thanks in advance,
Purav

I have to ask:
Why are you trying to pump a PDF to the client? Is it stored in a database rather than to the file system? Or...are you trying to display a PDF file in HTML format so end users don't need Acrobat?
If neither of these is the case, couldn't you just send a response.redirect("path to PDF file") and get the same result without all the headache?
If case 1 (the PDF is stored in the database and not the filesystem), you may want to ask why? You could simply create a table that maps some document_id to a local file path. That way if you need to delete it or change it, you know what and where it is.
If case 2 (you want to read a PDF and display as HTML to the client) you should use a parser like:

• How to disable F1 to F12 keys in Web Browser when SWF file is in focus

Hi all,
Im running / loading a swf file in IE. I want to disable the
function keys ( F1- F12 keys) in IE as I have defined special
functions for these keys in my swf / flash file.Im using a
javascript code to do this and the javascript code is working
correctly. But the problem starts when the swf file is in focus,
when swf file is in focus and if I press the F3 key the search of
IE opens, but I have defined a special function in my swf file for
this key, here the IE is overriding and it's taking the precedence
in the event handling this is what I want to disable. So that I can
catch the event in SWF file or get the Key code and run the my
function defined for the key.
Thanks.

When testing my applets on a Linux Web site I’m finding that I have to totally exit the browser, then open up a new browser session to see the updates on my applets. Yes. Applets can be horrible for caching. I am surprised that exiting and restarting the browser works. I usually clear the cache in the Java Console.
..The refresh button on the browser won’t show the new version of the jar file program. I find this consistent with Firefox, MS Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome.
Is there some type of browser option that will allow the next jar version to be run without having to exit out of the browser to see it?
No, but if the Java Console is open, it is pretty easy to force a refresh of the classes.
As an aside, for a more general solution for your end users, look to launch the app. using [Java Web Start|http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/javawebstart/index.jsp] . Updates are reliable and automatic.
Thanks in advance for any comments on this.No worries (in advance).
Note that my reply would have been sooner, except that I felt compelled to get that matter of the link in your post dealt with, before commenting.

• Adobe Reader 9 won't automatically open PDF documents

Help please! When I double-click a PDF file, the get a message saying "Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view this file. Would you like to install Acrobat Reader now?" The problem is, I already have Reader 9 installed. If I check the "yes" box, the system attempts to install Acrobat Reader 7.0. When it determines that Reader 9 is already installed it terminates. The only way I can view a PDF file is to first open Acrobat Reader 9 and then open the file. This is maddening! What do I do to fix this problem?

Is that the PDF viewer extension ([https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/pdfjs/]) or the Abode Reader plugin or another extension?

• Pdf documents on the web are black (blank) when saved they open in preview.

I am running adobe acrobat pro (v10) on an intel iMac with mountain lion using safari.
No pdf files show in library/internet plug-ins as had been suggested as a fix.-help please.

Are you sure you are looking in the right Library? Try this - go to your Finder's Go menu and select Go to folder. In the resulting dialog type (or copy and paste) /Library/Internet Plug-ins and click the Go button. In this folder is there something like AdobePDFViewer.plugin? If so, remove it and relaunch Safari.
If you have already tried this I apologize for asking again. Lots of people have trouble following this. No offense is intended.
Best of luck.
