Adobe Reader doesn't appear...

Hi,
this morning I tried open a pdf file double clicking on it but after some minutes waiting no Adobe Reader appeared.
I checked executing processes from Task Manager and it seemed to me that AR was still runnning, the process was AcroRd32.exe. So
I tried to kill it from Task Manager but nothing happened. After about 5  minutes it's stopped working from itsself.
After that I run AR first, before opening any pdf file, and after I tried to open the abother pdf file but nothing happened, AR was opening
the file after 5 minutes without success, the hourglass was still there, so I tried the Task Manager Kill button way.
My config:
XP, 32 bit, enough space, enough memory and so on,
AR 9.3.2
Are there any validity check I can try? any "auto-self integrity check" I can try? maybe via command line?
To be honest, I started to monitor AR when it start running, and I saw that another process of Adobe family, start executing: AcroRd32Info.exe,
Does it matter? or involved in my problem?
Thanks
Roberto

Do I understand it correctly - you can open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try the Repair option in the Help menu.
If that doesn't fix it, try to uninstall completely and reinstall.

  • ADOBE READER doesn't respond (Highlighting Tool)

I like making use of the highlighting tool in a pdf that can be highlighted and I like to change the colors as I would if I were using this as a book to help me study.
When I highlight and click properties to change the color....I go through a lengthy process where first ADOBE READER doesn't respond.
Then to add to my 4-7 minute wait the entire screen turns a faded white and I see that blue circle rotating around as a cursor.
When the program decides to advance it leads me to "Highlight Properties" window which sometimes works but as of lately doesn't.
This entire process is very painful.  To a Dad who likes watching UFC and ACTION/VOLENT MOVIES, the pain is comparable to watching "My Little Pony" or "One Direction" videos or being forced to watch a "chick flick marathon" on Father's Day!  No offense to any of those who may partake in that sort of thing.
Can someone please help me before I take this program out of machine for a replacement?

I could upload a video of the problem but I am doubtful anyone would watch it due to the severity of this issue.

    Greetings, frustrated Dad,
Having just read your inquiry (I don't work for Adobe, but have used Reader and several other products) by any chance is the document you're trying to work with one that was created as a PDF from a scanned document? If what you're currently looking at was created from a scanned document, then Adobe can't "read it" in that format, as it views it as though it were an "image". Get it? And it can't highlight images, as it doesn't recognize the text. (If this isn't the case, sorry, but I can't help. I purchased a program called Nitro Pro, rather than purchasing Adobe Acrobat, and it lets me create and edit PDF's. You might want to have a look at it.) I logged on here today to view a document I'd uploaded some time ago (prior to purchasing the 3rd party PDF program and just happened to see your question. I was trying to use this online version to convert a scanned document into a Word document, as long as I was here, but it appears that THIS site along with its features, are very limited. I can store PDF's that are already created, but without purchasing, not much more can be done, other than adding text to an already PDF, or highlighting, which you've had problems with.) Don't know what browser you're using, but in Chrome, they have free extensions, including highlighters, that will let you do what you're asking about on any web page. You just download the browser extension through Google Play Store, and go to it.

  • Adobe Reader doesn't work after windows 7 update

    Hello,
My Adobe Reader X was working fine, until one night where Windows 7 automatically updated, and after that Adobe Reader doesn't work anymore. It doesn't respond AT ALL when I click on it, and I cannot view PDF files anymore.
I uninstalled it, and re-installed it --- still doesn't work. I tried downloading version 9, but still it doesn't work.
I also tried to do system restore, but somehow it won't let me --- it says it failed to do so.
When I try to open PDF files in IE 10, it says "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader..." and an error code of 103:103.
    Could anyone help me?
    Thanks!

You can try running cleaner on your machine

and then again install latest Reader from

  • Adobe Reader does not appear as a choice when I click on a PDF in email

When I open an email that has a PDF, then I click on the "Open With", Adobe Reader does not appear as a choice. I use an IPhone 4S.

Is your phone updated to iOS6?
When I press on the PDF icon at the bottom of an email message on the iPhone, I get a screen which shows "Open in Adobe Reader" along with icons of other readers I have installed which read PDF files.
    Looks like this:

  • Adobe Reader doesn't open .pdf files anymore. Error: 213:11.

Adobe Reader doesn't open .pdf files anymore. It's written Error: 213:11. Details: laptop with Windows XP, Adobe Reader X

Are these local or online documents?  If online, in what browser?  If local, does the documents folder and docs themselves have sufficient permissions?
Is there anything else beside the number 213:11?

  • Every Programme that it is opened with Adobe Reader doesn't work What Can I do ?

Every Programme that it is opened with Adobe Reader doesn't work What Can I do ?

    More information please.
Version of Reader? OS?  Can you open reader by double-clicking on its icon? Can you open reader by double-clicking on a pdf file? What programs are trying to open reader? Some programs might be restricting your ability to view pdf files using the Reader plug-in due to security concerns. If this is the case you need to find out how to enable the plug-in in the case of each application.

Adobe Reader doesn't show correct version. How can i check if the current version (10.2.3) is installed?

    Good day,
The current version of Adobe Reader is 10.1.3.  You can check to see if you have this version installed by choosing Help > About Adobe Reader (Windows) or Adobe Reader > About Adobe Reader (Mac).

  • Photoshop CS5 - Save as Adobe pdf doesn't appear

HI, I AM TRYING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM WHOLE DAY. I HAVE MAC OSX 10.6.5 UPDATED, ACROBAT PRO 9.4.1 UPDATED, PHOTOSHOP CS 5 12.0.1 UPDATEM. BUT WHEN I WAS GO TO PRINT-PRINT SETTINGS-PDF THERE WHOLE UNDERLINE PRESETS DO NOTHING. /MEANS MAIL PDF, SAVE AS ADOBE PDF, SAVE AS PDFX, SAVE PDF TO IPHOTO/. NONE DIALOG FROM MENTIONED UNDERLINE ITEMS DOESN'T APPEAR IN PHOTOSHOP. NO ERROR, NOTHING. WHEN I TRY TO USE PDF-SAVE AS ADOBE PDF FROM IPHOTO DIALOG BOX APPEARS. I TRY ALSO OPEN IN ROSETTE ETC. ITS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO CREATE ADOBE PDF, NOT PHOTOSHOP PDF. BECAUSE PS PDF IS HUGE AND CAUSE FAILS ON SOLID SHAPES. THANKS FOR ADVICE. PS: SORRY FOR CAPS, WRITTING FROM HANDY

Hi, thanks. I now that this would be alternative, but photoshop PDF causes white places on the fonts and object where must be color or style layer. And as I wrote file is huge and not possible to print from it via offset printer. Downsampling cause bad quality. The problem is not to find alternative way.
Problem is why these function do not work. Its basic function of acrobat pro and I want to use it. Distiller creates high quality PDF with no errors nad small size. "Save as adobe PDF" works everywhere like iPhoto etc ect. and in Photoshop dialog box does not appear. It would be great if someone with PS CS5 and acrobat pro 9.4 can test it also, if it is not a bug.
Now I must only generates distiller PDF via windows because mac osx 10.6.5 do not support old version Adobe PDF printer and alternative Save as adobe PDF does not work for me.
From the time I bought mac I am very disappointed of it, many many problems that I do not know on windows platform. Bugs from adobe-repair update, mac os update-another bugs, adobe update, mac os update-another bugs....magic circle.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Reader doesn't reflow on N8

I can't find the reflow feature in the Adobe Reader LE 2.5 on my new Nokia N8. The product came pre-installed and I registered/activated it. I have tried with several PDF documents that otherwise reflow automatically on my old PDA. The reflow feature doesn't even seem to be available, it doesn't show up on the Adobe Reader menu. Has anybody been able to use the reflow option on their N8? Any ideas?

A bit of a disappointment. I emailed the QuickOffice's support center and they told me the reflow option is not included on the Adobe Reader LE 2.5 version that is preinstalled on the N8. So ended up buying the full version, which does have this capability (it's called 'wrap text').

  • (Problem with arrows )Adobe Reader doesn't work correctly

  • Adobe Reader doesn't print, but OSX preview works

    Hi,
Since I received my Mac I installed adobe reader and was not able to print PDF, but yesterday I open the PDF file with OSX Preview functionality and I was able to print. What a surprise.
I'm connected to the printed using Bonjour.
Has any of you found this problem?
    Thhanks,

    Hello,
Since no replies yet, have you tried Restting the Printing System & adding the Printer again?
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.
Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++
To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."
As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.

    Reboot.

  • Browser-embedded Adobe Reader doesn't permit ink signatures

I'm not sure if this is a feature, a bug or just an annoyance, but we are unable to apply ink signatures to a PDF displayed within a browser window. The same PDF displayed in a standalone Adobe Reader 9 window will allow for ink signatures to be applied to it. Why can documents in browser windows not be ink signed?
This is problematic for us because we are deploying a web-based application which collects a signature on a PDF form, which then contains a button to proceed to the next step and save the form on the server. Using Adobe Reader standalone to view and sign the PDF breaks the functionality of the form and prevents the form being saved correctly.
Colleagues developing the application report that it works successfully using a plugin for a singature pad, but we are using a tablet PC (motion C5) with a pen to apply the ink signature. There does not appear to be a plugin for this. However, we know we can apply ink signatures in standalone Adobe Reader, we simply want the same functionality in the browser-embedded window.
So far, all suggestions we have received involving buying either alternative hardware or alternative software. Neither is very helpful. Can anyone suggest a fix or workaround using Adobe Reader? Thanks.

i don't remember how it was formulated exactly. there was no printing option found. that was on my other computer (with XP). but on Windows 7 it won't even open, i'm not even talking about printing, because i wouldn't know. the window simply blank, inactive  and immediately closes. online documents load....and in the end just black window or blank Reader page. In IE it gives me "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/ Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again (15:3)" - every time...

  • Adobe Reader doesn't open on Mac

    Hi,
I cannot open PDF files on my mac.  As per other forums, I have tired deleteing and un-installing all adobe reader, then tried re-downlading it.  I still can't get the PDF's to open.  I have read through the 'terms' and agree, but it still doesn't open PDFs.  When i click to a link I just get a blank page.  I'm rather frustrated, I called mac support, they did there best to help me but they couldn't.  I can't not find a contact number for adobe, as i have tried following all of the advice given on the forums to no avail.  What do i do now?  I really would like to be able to open PDF files with Adobe Reader.
    Thanks!

You know... you really DON'T need Adobe Reader on a Mac. Preview (part of the OS) is a much better viewer for PDFs. You say you uninstalled. I can only assume by that, you simply dragged the Reader folder to the trash and emptied it. Unfortunately that doesn't remove Preferences or .plist files from your system folder. In order to COMPLETELY remove an app you need to use a "cleaner" like AppZapper that will also remove ALL associated (and hidden) files for the app. Otherwise you install the new app with the same old broken preferences.
Download and install Reader 11 again, then download and run AppZapper (it's a free trial, but well worth the $12.95 to buy if you decide to) to completely remove it. Then download and install Reader again. If it still doesn't work, get back to us here.

  • Adobe Reader doesn't show letters with lengthening marks

    Hi,
Just made a fresh W8.1 and Adobe Reader XI install, now I have some .pdf files that doesn't show these symbols - ē, ī, ū, ģ, ķ, ņ etc. However, in some files it shows them corectly. Where might be the problem here?
    BR,
    padodalu

Do these PDFs have the appropriate fonts embedded?  If not, maybe you need to install the extended font pack http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5508

  • Adobe Reader doesn't remember the output method user authentication

    Here's the setup:
We use a network printer that is set up only using user inboxes with user authentication. There's no normal printing.
The printers are set up on the mac computers using output method > user authentication > userid and password.
This works fine for every application, but somehow it doesn't for Adobe Reader. It 'forgets' the password every now and then,
even if when you look at the user authentication, the setting is still checked, and the password is still filled in.
if I reinsert the password, and press OK, then press Print, the task is sent to the printer again, only this time, it actually prints.
I can't think of a reason why Adobe Reader won't remember the settings.

    Merry Christmas!
I currently only have Adobe Reader 9 installed.
I did uninstalled Adobe and Acrobat, run a registry clean up....then installed Adobe Reader 9.
    but still not working.
Very strange that everytime i open the program from Start-->Adobe-->Adobe Reader 9, then it starts install Reader.....it says please wait while Adobe install, it takes another 2 minutes then it opens.
If I open by double click on the.pdf file, it then ask what program do you want to open this file.  I selected Adobe Reader 9, then it opens without any installation windows.
