Adobe Reader error message
When I try to open up a .pdf file in Adobe Reader, I get the error message "file path not valid." Anybody now why this is happening? The files are all files that have been downloaded from websites that I trust (e.g., public library).
Solved!
Go to Solution.
Did you download the files to the playbook? Do you have them saved with the .pdf extention.

I hope its okay that I am resending my earlier question. I have attempted all of the suggestions to fix the problem with Adobe Reader but so far nothing has worked. Is there anything else I can try? Thank you for your help!

My Reader version was an older one , so I downloaded the latest on the website. I shut down and restarted the computer but the error notice is still present.
Also, when I attempted to open Reader in protected mode, the following error message appeared ," Fatal Error Acrobat failed to load it's core DLL.
I downloaded the anti malware program at adobe help and ran the scan, restarted the computer and the error message still pops up. Are there any other actions you might suggest? -
PDF won't open on Mac with Adobe Reader Error message:Adobe Reader could not open
I have Adobe Reader 10.1.3 for Mac, (10.7.3) and am having problems opening pdfs. I get an error message: Adobe Reader could not open file name.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). The files are not from emails, but are from websites, government sites, professional organizations etc.) Help! Adobe is no help!
Manually download the files to your computer (right-click on the url). When the file is downloaded to your computer do you get the same message when you try to open in Reader through the File->Open menu? What about when you open the file in Mac's Preview application?

Having Trouble Installing Adobe Reader, Error Messages
Hi,
I've tried the direct Adobe Reader for Unix from Adobe, both the tar and slackware. I've also tried several packages from my distros' repo. None are working.
Most attempts seem to install and give a confirmation, but when I call from the menu, nothing happens. When I call from a terminal I get this innocuous error message: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'ASErrException' I have no idea what this is.
I use both LightHouse64 514b and Fatdog64 521f. I've installed the 32bit compatibility stuff from my distro in both (Puppy Linux).
I know some of whatever is wrong could be on my distro end, and I am seeking help there too.
Can anyone explain what this error message is, and what calls it?
Also, I would really like to see a tree of Adobe Reader files so that I could make sure that everything is where it's supposed to be. Could anyone point me somewhere?
Any input welcome. Thanks in advance.
EathrayWhat kind of trouble? What platform and version of OS? Any error messages? How are you trying to install Reader? Any previous versions of Reader and/or Acrobat installed?

Cannot Install Adobe reader error message
Have Win 7 64bit
Had adobe reader installed worked great was reading a PDF file when adobe message popped up ready to install update pushed okay and a message popped up unable to install update then adobe reader ceased to work checked program files and adobe had disappeared so I done loaded a new copy 9.2 from adobe and commenced to install it all I get is error message about half installed
Program error 1310 error writing to file C:\program data\adobe\acrobat\900\replicate\security\directories\acrodata verify that you have access to that directory
any help a appreciatedYesterday, I created Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 & X AIPs using .exe and nos switches.. example:
adberdr1001_en_us.exe -nos_o"ReaderXInstall" -nos_ne
For version 9.4.0, it creates the subfolder specified int he command line.. for the version 10.0.1 file, it prompts for a folder name -- but this really isn't a problem for me..
My problem is when I merge MSPs into the original acroread.msi file after "unzipping" the EXE files... I got Adobe Reader X with Tier 1 MSP file running perfectly deployed with GPO.. but today, I come into work and I get an error message that the Tier 1 MSP for Reader X won't install cause it thinks the original file isn't the correct one to patch. I know I have everything configured correctly.. I've even blown away Acrobat Reader Folders and Registry entries.. and tried re-install.. v9.4.2 installs perfectly still.. but 10.0.1 with Tier 1 still fails.. doesn't matter if I use MSI + MST deployed with GPO or setup.exe with patch= in setup.ini.. so frustrating!!! I'm wondering if there's a bug with Adobe stuff.. or more than likely I've corrupted something on my system but installing, uninstalling, reinstalling v9 and v10 to test GPO deploy.. v10.0.1 without Tier will install.. I even downloaded Tier 1 again thinking somehow it got corrupted.. I do have a RAID 1 in my desktop..
Anyone have any ideas of something I may have missed?

Adobe reader error message - 0.104.
I have recently had to re-install adobe reader 9.5 again and all appeared to be ok. I have just tried to view an online statement and the following message came up " There is a problem with adobe reader. If it is running (which it is) please exit and try again (0.104)". If i close the reader and try to view an online statement the same error message comes up again. Does anyone know what this error message means and how to get it corrected? Yhanks for any help.
Hi,
1. Which is the Operating System installed on your computer?
2. Which is the version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer?
3. Have you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
Remove all previous versions of Acrobat or Reader, and then reinstall it.
a. Click on Start, clicking Control Panel, clicking Program, clicking Programs and Features.
b. Select Acrobat or Reader, and then click the option to remove or uninstall the program.
c. Restart your computer and reinstall Acrobat or Reader.

Let us know if this helps.
Thank you

Adobe Reader error with PDF reports created using AS Reports Server 10g
Hi,
Recently when trying to run reports in our system (which uses Oracle Application Server Forms & Reports Services 10g - 10.1.2.0.2), sometimes when we try to run a report in PDF format the following happens:
1. A new window appears as expected
2. This window hangs/appears to try to load for a couple of minutes
3. Eventually an Adobe Reader error message appears saying the following:
*"There is a problem With Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again".*
I have noticed that this problem only seems to occur when the client has Adobe Reader 9.3 installed (8.2 works fine).
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a known workaround or is this a known issue?
Many thanks,
ChrisDoes anyone have any ideas on this or has anyone encountered the same problem?
thanks -
Reader error message when accessing documents on other websites
have repaired adobe reader twice, still get "adobe reader error" message when trying to access my visa acct. run vista home basic. What is problem. Also seems to cause windows to close IE on me through daa execution program. I am a thoroughly confused computer nerd on this.
We cannot know. Your information is way too vague to make any sense of it and the whole affair sounds utterly unrelated to Adobe software in the first place. Perhaps some security tool running amok, perhaps simply a missing system library, perhaps a failed install. Who's to say?

GREAT THANKS! GREAT THANKS! GREAT THANKS!
I was using Google Chrome, and did not suspect that this could be the
problem.
I used I.E. and the download worked. So that's it.
Great thanks again.

3M App - Adobe Activation Error message - Cannot download ebooks
Please Help Me, Im really missing my eBooks!!
Adobe Activation Error Message is displayed when I select an ebook (that is already checked out and in "my books") to download onto my device so i can read it. Message says "You have reached your activation limit. you cannot read eBooks on this device until an activation is released from another device"
Thru chat and phone I have contacted adobe customer care twice already, the first time they helped me get ebooks downloading in 3M onto my desktop, but my android phone is where i need to download ebooks.! The second guy told me he cant do anything else becuz my Adobe ID is showing 4 remaining activations and he cant reset any activations untili am at the max limit of 6 devices... HELP! I have used 3M on 6 devices but i no longer have access to 4 of them.It is puzzling that the customer care rep said you have 4 remaining device activations on your Adobe ID, but the 3M app said you reached the limit.
Do you have a second Adobe ID or perhaps a 3M ID that you have used in the past? Adobe supports account joining, which allows you to activate a device with multiple IDs (Adobe or third-party), so that you can read books purchased under multiple accounts on a single device.
It's possible that your Adobe ID has 4 remaining activations but that it is joined to another account which has 0 remaining.
You can check if your Adobe ID is joined to another account at Adobe Account Synchronization.
If you do find a second account, you might be able to work around this by having a customer care rep reset the activations for the second account. -

Hi skydivingsnowman,
I'm sorry you're having such trouble using the ExportPDF service. What browser are you using?
Please try clearing your browser cache, or using a different browser (here's a list of supported browsers: http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/.
Please let me know if that works.
Best,

Good morning, AdobeSuite installation does not work and I receive"error initializing program, download adobe advisor" error message. On Adobe site it appears"The Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued The Adobe Support Advisor tool was used to analyze installer log and system information associated with installation errors. The tool has been replaced with improved installation support mechanisms. Please visit Adobe Support section for Knowledge base articles around Installation."
Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. We don't even know what exactly you are trying to install.

Adobe reader error - Faulty module: Comctl32.dll
Adobe reader error - Faulty module: Comctl32.dll
Running Windows 7 Home Premium, SP 1.
Computer is ACER Aspire -4830TG laptop, with 8GB RAM, i5-2430M intel processor.
Not sure when this happened, but am unable to open Adobe Reader 10. Error indicates the fault module to be Comctl32.dll, specifically,
C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.7601.17514_n one_41e6975e2bd6f2b2\Comctl32.dll
Size is 619KB
Reader will initialize, but blank out and freeze as soon as it attempts to do anything, including displaying a menu bar. I have reinstalled Reader several times and have removed it first. It appears that the issue is really the Comctl32.dll file. There are so many versions on my system can't figure out how to tell if it is corrupt.
Virus scan shows no risks.
Unable to rollback far enough to make a difference.
Anyone else have a problem like this?Hey, Pat,
