Adobe Reader fails

Trying to open Adobe Reader on my N73, it just fails.
The screen appears "cleaned" (just wallpaper) for a few seconds, then it returns to menu. This also happens when trying to open a pdf-file.. Anyone familiar with this? Also tried to update the phone. It worked uintill I restored my data from the memorycard (wich ofcourse is crucial to have).

I wrote a reply and posted it but do not see it. Perhaps I am not using this forum correctly. Anyway, in the reply I thought I had sent I wrote that indeed I have read the article suggested and have followed carefully all the directions allowing permissions. There was also an article in Microsoft Support on the same Error 1317 but this one involved installation of Visual Studio. The directions were more detailed than the ones in the Adobe article and involved setting the permissions on the Drive as well as all the parent folders. I did all that as well. The problem persists and I am at my wits end. Any further suggestions would be very much appreciated. Incidentally, is it normal that the Start Menu is the final folder listed? ie Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu

Why should Adobe Reader fail to print because of settings
    in the Edit/Preference?
    Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.10
    MS Window 7
    File > Print > Print
    I got the error message:
The document could not be printed
I googled this error message and used the following
solution that worked i.e. it then printed successfully.
    Edit >  Preferences
Category: Security(Enhancement)   'Enable Protected  Mode at Startup'
It was checked, changed it to unchecked.
Category: Documents    'View documents in PDF/Mode'
It was set to 'Only for PDF/A'
    Set it to 'Never'
Exited Adobe Reader and restart it. Then it printed.
I had a look on another computer system (Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.10
and MS Window 7) and on this different computer I could print
without doing the above two changes.
I'm a bit puzzled. Why preferences on one system were not
    needed on a different system?

Here is an elaborate method of troubleshooting this problem. There may be a simpler method if anybody wants to suggest one.
There is a general technique that is helpful in this situation. I can't give you complete instructions here, and I haven't tested this with regard to bluetooth devices, but here's the gist of it.
Create a second log-on account for your music projects. Configure it so that when you log in to the new music account, the drivers needed for the Bluetooth devices don't load. You do this in System Preferences: Accounts.
When it's time to do music, log out of your usual account and onto the new one.
When you install drivers for any peripheral, you have the option of installing them "for all users" or only for the user account that is active during the installation.
This governs whether the drivers go in root/library or root/Users/your name/library.
If drivers are in root/library, they will load whenever the Mac is booted up and will run for all users.
But if drivers are loaded in root/Users/your name/library, they will only load if you log in as "your name". If you have a second account called root/Users/music account/, and you log in under that, the drivers in "your name" will not load. Get it?
To get this working right you need to be knowledgeable about moving or deleting files in the /library/ directory and subdirectories, and you need to be careful because you can unwittingly cause some damage if you are not careful.
There is also the root/System/library directory, and in general you should never mess around with anything in there or you might hose your system.
In summary, I would start by using the installer programs for your BlueTooth devices and DE-installing all drivers. Reboot. Log back in as your usual user account. Then RE-install each driver and see if the installer program gives you the OPTION to installl for all users or just for this user. Choose the latter. Then log on to your new Music account and see if the problems go away.

  • Keep getting message Adobe Reader failed to download core DLL

I have Adobe Reader and I use Widows 7.  I had used the Adobe Reader with no problems, however, just recently, when I tried to open the program, I got the message "because of compatibility problems, Adobe Reader cannot open in protected mode", so I clicked the option to allow it to open without protected mode, and I keep getting the message "Adobe Reader failed to download its core DLL".  How can I fix this?  Thanks

  • Install Adobe Reader fails; says I should check javascript but how do I do it?

    Windows 7
I attempted to load Adobe Reader but it failed at the end, saying "There was an error installing Adobe Reader
[Error 1321. There was insufficient privileges to modify the file C\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Reader11.0\Reader\Browser\nppdf32.dll]".
The trouble shooting site asked that I make sure that javaScript was enabled, saying that I should go to tools/options/Content Tab and make sure it is enabled. Well, no such tab with javaScript content exists. Maybe Firefox updated something. But I can't do this check, and - where did the javaScript enabled control go? Didn't bother to go further with trouble shooting since I couldn't satisfy this directive.
    thanks

hi jhohn1190, this problem won't be related to javascript which is enabled in firefox by default - this would only apply if you're not able to download the setup file at all.
since the error message is referencing missing privileges, please try right-clicking and running the setup as administrator. in case this doesn't help, please contact adobe's support in order to get their product working.

  • Adobe reader fails to load

I attempted to load Adobe Reader and received the error message "Object already Exists" with Adobe failing to load.  Please help.

    Hello,
As per the thread Getting Object already exist error when installing adobe reader, removing Microsoft update KB2918614 resolves the issue for some folks. You can also check the same.

  • Adobe Reader fails to launch

Hi, when I launch the Reader a process starts but the application does not launch, most of the time. I have removed and reinstalled the latest version twice now with the same results. Any ideas as how to resolve this issue?

Try disabling Protected Mode, if you can open Adobe Reader by itself [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader at all, disable it via the registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/7cf5d61c-856f-4a2c-8c6c-7e9905948479

  • Attempt to open a PDF with Adobe Reader fails

I am using Adobe Reader X and have been having problems where double clicking on the PDF file does not automatically open the PDF file. Sometimes it will open it and on those days I will have no problem. Other days it just seems to refuse to open the PDF and I see several instances of AcroRd32.exe showing in Task Manager taking up varying degrees of memory. I tried to fix the problem by running the "repair my install", but that ended up breaking my only workaround which was to launch the Adobe Reader and then select the PDF file I wanted to open.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

I had the same problem just now and what worked for me was i archived a email in MS outlook using the Adopbe PDF dropdown menu and then I had full access to X Pro again.
    Hope that this helps

  • Adobe Reader fails to open pdf links on internet websites

My computer is running Windows 7, Norton AntiVirus, Internet Explorer 9 and Adobe Reader X. I am able to open and view pdf file attachments in e-mail messages, but am not able to open or view pdf files from website links or web-based sources. When a link is selected, a new window opens, but the screen remains gray while the blue circular "hourglass" icon spins. Eventually an error message appears which states "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution to the problem." It is very inconvenient not to be able to open pdf files this way. Can anyone recommend a solution to this problem? Thank you!

Can You give an example of website where it does not work? I would like to check it from my machine (as I also have the same problem with links opening new window with PDF).
@Ankit_Jain: I also wrote about that problem here on forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/959677?tstart=0 I am able to reproduce it for simple case (see first and last post). Perhaps if someone from Adobe can follow my example it will be easier to figure out what is happening...

  • Adobe Reader fails to load Core DLL

I'm at my wits end here.
For some unknown reason my Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit Dell laptop has started popping up  the following message about Protected Mode.
If I choose Do Not open, then Reader just closes.
If I choose Open with PM disabled, I get:
I have Kaspersky Antivirus already installed and it has scanned my computer several times. Nothing has been found as a result of these scans. I run the full rootkit scans manually several times as well.
    I've rebooted several times.
I've reinstalled Reader TWICE. I had to use the adobe Reader Cleaner tool because reader will not uninstall any other way.
I created an Administrator account just to make absolutely sure it would have the correct permissions - but I still get the message above.
    What do I do now?

I don't know why this is happening to you; over the last few years that method has always worked.
    Two things to try:
since you cannot even open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode via the registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/e2cfe2ae-d1f3-4f3c-ae1d-d4a50fe66f49
uninstall Reader XI, then download the new Adobe Reader DC from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Crash on Launch Mac OS 10.4.11

I'm experiencing a problem where Adobe Reader fails to launch on my system (MacBook Pro Core2Duo). I have searched the forums for advice, trashed everything I could find with the Adobe moniker, downloaded and reinstalled Adobe Reader 8.1.2, both replaced and disabled the "update" plug-in, and still no joy. Are there any known incompatibilities that I might be missing? After over an hour of searching I have yet to find a resolution.

I am having a very similar problem, with a few wrinkles.
Adobe Reader 8.1.2 works fine under the root user, and also under another non-admin user.
Other users the same problem, Adobe Reader crashes after launch.
I made a new user account with admin privileges, Reader crashes almost immediately after launch. I changed the account to a non-admin user, and it still crashed.
    I have repaired permissions.
    Very strange problem.

  • Adobe Reader Installation problem

Originally I got this error message:

  • Adobe Reader support for 64-bit Ubuntu systems

Any attempt to install any current version of Adobe Reader fails...
Usually with a "Wrong Architure - I386" message.
if you try to follow the "new" intructions for using apt-get you get the following...
    sudo apt-get install acroread
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
Package acroread is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package acroread has no installation candidate
    Two questions:
1.) Does Adobe have any intensions on supporting 64-bit Linux?
2.) Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get the reader to work on a 64-bit system?

Adobe Reader is 32-bit only, and so is the plugin.  This may change some time in the future, but for now it's 32-bit.
