I am unable to retain Adobe Reader on my PC (MS Vista).  I download reader and use it once to read a PDF and the next time I want to read a PDF..it will not work.  So, I must delete Reader and downlosd it anew to use it again for just one usage.  Please advise.

Can you tell us what happens when you try and use it? How are you trying to open a PDF (by opening Reader and using File>Open or clicking on a link on a web page...etc?)

  • Can't download Adobe Reader (failure to initialize)

i am running Windows XP sp3 and every time i try to update the reader i get Failure to Initialize, i had the same problem with the Flash player until i found a off line flash player download and it worked, is there a off line download for the Adobe Reader?

Cummins, I got the same problem yesterday, and a good samaritan and wise vip member gave me the following link:
Download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    Hope this helps.

  • FF 19 + Newest Adobe Reader = Failure. The newest update to FF with the newest Adobe reader is absolutely horrible. It is slow to load, slow to scroll pages,

Using FF19 and apparently Adobe reader 11.0.2.0. This new version is HORRIBLE, very slow to scroll pages, and flat out does not work with some work web pages I need. How do I revert to a previous version of Adobe to get back to the old format and layout that works well? I tried disabling the plug-in in FF and it did not change.

hello, firefox 19 has introduced its own integrated pdf viewer - if you want to switch back to the plugin you've used before to view pdfs just go to firefox options > applications & scroll down and define the default action for the '''portable document format (pdf)'''.

  • Adobe Reader - failure to update

    Hi,
For several weeks my Adobe Reader had been trying to update to version 9.1.3 but, after getting so far it then rolls back and I get a message saying that the update has failed.
Anyone know how to deal with this?
    Thanks.

So... If, for months, every time I turn on the pc I've gotten a screen telling me that I need to update to Read 8.1.3 (I think.  I've got 8.1.2 Security update), but everytime I try to do that I seem to get essentially the same result, I should do the same?
I googled and found Microsoft WIndows Install Cleanup Utility.  Must I run the cleaner before I download Reader 9 (or 9.x)?
Also:  When I try to save pdfs using 8.1.2 security version, I end up "alerting" Avira Antivir.  Always(!) so I think its a false positive.  Could the uninstall-cleanup-instal process celar that up?  Or maybe I shouldn't do the uninstall-cleanup-install because of this problem?
    Thanks so much,
    BK

  • "FAILURE TO INITIALIZE" ADOBE READER 8.3 (Windows XP PROFESSIONAL)

I am unable to install the Adobe Reader 8.3 on my Dell Optiplex GX150 running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.  I downloaded the free software from the Adobe website on another computer; I specified that the software would be used on a computer running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, English, version:  8.3.   I loaded the cd-rom in the aforementioned computer, moved the program to my desktop, then attempted to open it.  I received an error message:  "Failure to Initialize."  The computer CPU runs around 850 MHZ, and is not connected to the Internet.
         Please advise.  Thank you.

Try downloading the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • An apparent failure of the Adobe Reader's Search Function

    Hi
I am helping my brother in Australia with computer usage, I am in the UK. He is studying Roman History and I introduced him to MS OneNote as a method of storing and cataloging his required readings. This has worked well until recently when he found a complete failure of its search function to find words within the text. After confirming that this wasn't a user fault, I suggested we actually saved the pdf file from the university web site and use Adobe's search function. Unfortunately, we experienced exactly the same problem. I have used Adobe to search many PDF publications, mainly User Manuals, with great success and I am puzzled as to why this failure may be occuring. As a test, I have loaded one of his pdf files into Adobe Reader 9.3 and search for words like Roman and tigris and even when I am on the same page as the word, the 'End of Document' dialogue appears.
I would appreciate any advice or help in this matter.
    Best regards
    Mike Staveley

    See the docs: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/index.html.
The admin guide tells you what updates are cumulative (all 10.x quarterlies) and how to set the lang via the cmd line. However, check out the Wizard Guide and download the free Wizard to customize your install and .ini as needed. Much easier.

  • Adobe reader 9.1.2. update failure

    I need Help.
After updating my adobe reader to 9.1.2. on a brand new Windows Vista machine, the pc keeps asking if I want to restart my computer. Well, i have done it for serverall times and still it keeps asking if i want to restart the computer or not.
Deleting 9.1.2. doesn't help. The computer says  that it is busy with adabo reader and therefore can't be deleted.  Installing a new version doesn't help either. Adobe manager says that it's already busy with installing another version af adobe reader.
Does someone knows what to do? Restarting the PC isn't the answer.
    Jacky

The Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool is your friend. Use it to remove all vestiges of Reader from the Windows Registry.

    Try this
download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and save it to disk
right-click on the downloaded installer and select Run as Administrator

  • Adobe Reader 11 install failure

I download Adobe Reader 11 to my XP machine.  When I run the .exe file is just deletes itself and then shuts down.  No trace of it ever existed. Have tried many downloads.

Without further information, I would suggest that you download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • An Adobe Reader 8 Failure

Good afternoon! I've had Adobe Reader 8 on my computer since last December and in the past couple of days when I try to use it I get this message: "Error. Acobat failed to load its Core DLL." Then the computer just freezes and I have to turn the power off, wait and turn the computer back on. What's causing this problem and how do I get it corrected so I can use the program again? Thanks.

It could be anything from hard drive corruption to a virus. Try
    re-installing.

  • There is an internal Adobe Reader error while copying to the Clipboard.

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64 bits
    Adobe Reader Vesion: XI
That error is very easy to reproduce: select two or more lines of a pdf document and press "cntl + C" several times in repetition. Frequently 4 ou 5 followed repetitions trigger that issue. A curious thing happens when "cntl + C" starts to fail: the copying process through "Edit > Copy" menu still works. But if you try repeated times to copying through "Edit > Copy" menu, then this method also starts to fail too, but at the same time of this failure, "cntrl + c" starts to work again (it is like a seesaw).
My computer has no skype plugin installed, so the skype plugin + Internet Explorer is not the root cause of that issue.
This problem occurs even if I am running only Adobe Reader XI application, i. e., without start Internet Explorer, or any office application, or windows live messenger, or skype, etc.

    in windows 7
    start-control panel-uninstall programs
uninstall the "Skype Click to Call", this will uninstall addins from ie, firefox, you dont have to uninstall skype.
in ie and firefox you can disable addons but can not uninstall them using ie or firefox interface, when you uninstall Skype Click to Call, it will remove it from all added browsers.
    This works me now.
    Edit 1:
Unfortunately skype trick does not work.
I recently switched to windows 8 and reliazed that there is no copy error any more.
    Edit2:
This error maybe caused by Babylon dictionary which has an Adobe Acrobat or Reader addon which captures the text from pdf documnet when ctrl+right mouse click. This feature is enabled when it is copied to" C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\plug_ins " or  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins " directory, so if it is copied such copying error appeared, if not copied it does not appear. Baylon dictionary addin is installed when you install babylon dictionary software, and it is here " C:\Program Files (x86)\Babylon\Babylon-Pro\Utils ", its name is " BabylonRPI.api "
    Edit3:06-April-2013
My experience is that Babylon Dictionary was causing this error. With babylon version 10 acrobat does not give that kind of error anymore, on windows 7 x64, but previous version leftover files may cause this error again even if you remove previous versions and install version 10. With a clean install of windows 7 x64 with babylon dictionary version 10 there is no error anymore.

  • Windows Service no longer able to print PDF files using Adobe Reader 11.0.07.79

We have a Windows Service that watches a folder for PDF files to be deposited.  Once awakened, it executes the Adobe Reader in command line mode to print the PDF files to secure check printers. The Windows Service was working fine with 11.0.06.70 but no longer works with 11.0.07.79.
There are no event viewer errors or errors returned to our Process.Start() call.  The Windows Service is running under the identify of an administrator account and has explicit full access to the printer.  We have also tried the local computer's Administrator account as well as the default Local Service, but none work.
Using ProcMon to examine the failure, it showed Adobe Reader making many successful registry and file accesses.  Adobe Reader then creates a new process, another instance of itself to read in the PDF file and print to the printer.  However, ProcMon only shows Adobe Reader accessing AcroRd32.exe, syswow.dll (sp) and ntdll.dll and then the thread and process immediately exits with an exit code of 0 (no file or registry accesses).  So, something is causing the instantiated process to fail immediately.
After more research and trying many things, we disabled "Enable Protected Mode at Startup".  This enabled things to work again.
We are concerned that disabling this feature might expose security concerns for our customers.
We are suspecting that some security concerns were tightened with 11.0.07.79 that has inadvertently caused printing from Windows Services to falsely be identified as security violations.  Can you please investigate and provide a resolution?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Can you please give the following details:
    1) Command (given in command line)used to print PDF files?
    2) Is the issue reproducible with other printers as well?
    3) Is directly printing the PDF from that folder using command line i.e without using windows service works fine or not?
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Reader V9.0 will not install on Windows Vista Ultimate SP1

I have Windows Vista Ultimate Build 6001 and tried to install adobe reader V9.0. The download was fine but when I run the program (AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe) it returns the error:
    "NOSSO (R) has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available
    Close program"
So I guess my questions are
    1. Is there a version of adobe reader that will install on windows vista ultimate SP1?
    or
    2. Is there another pdf reader that will work with Vista Ultimate SP1?
Thanks for any and all assistance!!
    Mark

I am getting the exact same error:
I have a brand new HP xw8600 systems with 64 bit Vista Ultimate installed.
Via google I found a suggestion to turn on user account control.
I went to control panel > User Account > Turn User Account Control
checked the box and restarted the system. I ran the install as the administrator. It was a minor improvement. Instead of the error coming up immediately like it was, I got the OS confirmation asking if I wanted to install the program. I got the failure right have selecting "yes"
Running out of clues... any help?
