Adobe reader for iOS doesn't show markups?

I have pdf documents with markups prepared on Windows 7. When I upload to iOS from drop-box, then only the original document show, no markups. However, from the same drop-box, the Android tables displays all markups?
P.S. have this problem since we switched to iOS tables. Reader is up to date, have downloaded the latest update yesterday.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for the response, but I have since discovered the PDF is opened in a non Adobe app, probably that of Apple as you suggest.
If I select an alternative app from within the PDF reader, and select the Adobe reader, all markups display correctly.
I was not aware that there possibly could be a build-in PDF reader in iOS.
I was caught in this trap since the adobe reader does not have build in facilities to access the drop-box. Neither has drop-box, as with the Android app, the prompt to select an appropriate app for the document selected.

  • View PDF comments in Adobe Reader for iOS

Adobe Reader XI for Mac and PC can display a "Comments List" to show all of the comments that have been added to the document using the annotation features. Clicking on a comment scrolls the PDF document to where the comment was entered.
Could this feature be added to Adobe Reader for iOS so that comments added in the Mac / PC versions can be viewed on an iPad?

    Hi,
A Comments list has been on our feature ToDo list for quite some time now.  Unfortunately, it has not made it into the product yet.
    Thank you for the feedback!

  • When will Adobe Reader for iOS support Livecycle XFA forms?

Adobe Reader for iOS currently does not appear to support XFA forms created through Livecycle. Although it supports some field types, the HTTP submit and Email submit buttons don't work.
Being able to email the completed form ready for someone else to submit would be a work around, however when attempting to 'share' a completed form and send it by email the form is blank when saved and opened in the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a PC.
We are getting more and more requests from ipad users who wish to use our forms, and it seems that some other paid-for apps claim to support this. Seeing as Adobe Reader is the industry standard product for using PDFs could we have more support for pdf forms please?
...or at the very least, a product roadmap with some dates for when this might be available please?

There are two basic varieties of LiveCycle XFA...Static XFA and Dynamic XFA, which are very different in terms of their future for potential support in Adobe Reader for iOS. Which variety of XFA are you using?
Static XFA uses the PDF markup language for content and form fields, so users can view the documents in Adobe Reader for iOS, but we currently do not properly handle filling, saving, and submitting those forms. I have improving our handling of Static XFA on my roadmap, but cannot offer any specific date yet (sorry, policy plus actual uncertainty). I know that there are some other apps that partially support Static XFA, though I do not know how complete their support is. If you can even open the XFA document in Adobe Reader for iOS, it is likely Static XFA.
Dynamic XFA is effectively a JavaScript application packaged inside a PDF wrapper, which generates layout and form fields via code and requires a significant engine to support this. Support for Dynamic XFA is unfortunately not currently on our roadmap for iOS due to the nature of the technology, and our concern that any implementation we try likely will not pass Apple's restriction against installing something that allows other "apps" to be downloaded and executed from within it. The LiveCycle team is exploring solutions for our enterprise customers wanting to use Dynamic XFA from mobile devices as part of their server offering, but I cannot offer any insight here. To my knowledge, there are no applications that handle Dynamic XFA other than Adobe Reader for the desktop platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux).

  • Calling Adobe Reader for iOS from my iOS App

I have an iOS application that allows readers to view PDF Documents in a child window; Some users want the full search and navigation features of Adobe Reader for iOS, so I would like to be able to pass the PDF Link to the Adobe Reader App on the users iPad .  I am assuming Adobe Reader supports HandleOpenURL so I should be able to launch Adobe Reader and pass it the document using some syntax like:
    AdobeReader://myDocLink.pdf
However I dont know the proper syntax, or if Adobe supports it. Anyone know? thanks!

Satyadev, thanks. Is the ability to "Open with Adobe" Available to developers as an API or library?  Basically I'm using a UIWebView to show the linked Adobe document (ie, "http://mywebserver/documents/myManual.pdf", but I don't want to code in all of the search and navigation features for PDFs;  I want the user to be able to click a button and launch the Adobe Reader App Like safari provides.    ANy suggestions?

  • Latest Adobe Reader for iOS

Understand that there's a new version Adobe Reader for iOS
When is the exact launch date?
Is the flatten before emailing/sharing feature added in?

Apple is approving the next update to Reader. If you open iTunes, click on Apps, then click on Check for Updates, it will let you know when an update is available.
Adobe doesn't know when Apple will approve the app.

Thank you George. Are there any Apps you would recommend? I am looking for something where a PDF form can be completed, and perhaps annotated, and then flattened to email to be filed as a record.

  • How to restore files from Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad)?

I started using Adobe Reader for iOS to annote and comment pdf files. I used the Adobe Reader for Mac OS to upload the files to the Acrobat.com cloud.
Opening the files on iPad worked pretty straight forward and I started editing the pdf right away. When opening the pdf again a couple of days later on iPad, the app downloaded the pdf again in an older version with a couple of annotations present, but a couple of the more recent missing. This is a very disturbing behaviour since I cannot understand why it would sync an older version of the pdf from the cloud over the newer one. Luckily, this was no very important edit, but I will be very hesitant to use this feature in the future if there is a likelyhood for this happening again. Is there any possibility to recover the file with the original edits from the iPad?
The second thing that I don't understand is the mismatch of files shown in the adobe creative cloud and on acrobat.com when using the acrobat reader. 2 of the files I uploaded can be seen in both the adobe creative cloud and in the 'acrobat.com' cloud (is that a different thing?) as can be accessed from adobe reader on Mac OS. However, there are also files that can be accessed exclusively from the adobe creative cloud and files that can be accessed exclusively from the 'acrobat.com' cloud. I don't really understand the difference and how to sync the two.
    Help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

    AnAppleADay,
I personally agree that having two separate Adobe cloud storage services (Acrobat.com and Creative Cloud) is confusing and undesirable.  However, I am not able to speculate on Adobe products or services in future releases.
There is no direct way to download files on Acrobat.com to your iPad/iPhone.  However, you can download files from Acrobat.com via the web browser interface (https://cloud.acrobat.com/files) on your Windows or Mac desktop/laptop computer.
Then you can (a) email them to yourself and open them in Adobe Reader on your iPad, which results in storing the files locally on your iPad, or (b) use the desktop version of iTunes to transfer the files from your computer to your iPad.  (It's convoluted.  But I am not aware of any other options.)  However, if you uninstall Adobe Reader for iOS, the operating system will erase all of associated application data including locally stored PDF documents.
I suspect that your problem is related to changes not being saved to Acrobat.com properly (not about syncing to an older version).  When you make a lot of changes to a PDF document (e.g adding annotations or filling out forms), I'd recommend closing the modified PDF document occasionally, which forces Adobe Reader to save the changes to Acrobat.com.  You will have less chance of losing changes due to unexpected problems or defects in Adobe Reader.
Please let us know if you know the steps to reproduce the problem (of losing changes) with a particular file on Acrobat.com.  We can investigate the problem.
    Thank you.

  • Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's?

Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links created with Acrobat Standard to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's on an I Pad?

    driddy61,
As of June 2014, none of the Adobe Reader mobile products support the hyperlink action for opening a separate PDF document.
    Adobe Reader for iOS
    Adobe Reader for Android
Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8
In addition, the Reader mobile products do not open multiple windows/documents simultaneously, which would make the navigation between PDF documents nearly impossible. (Once a hyperlink takes you to a different PDF document, you have no way to go back to the original PDF document.)
The only Adobe Reader product that fulfills your department's requirements is Adobe Reader XI (mostly for Windows/Mac desktop/laptop computers).  Acrobat Pro and Standard are paid products.
Because you are in search of a less expensive device for your department, you could get a Windows tablet instead of a Windows desktop/laptop computer. Microsoft Surface Pro (that you've mentioned in your previous reply) is just one example.  You can also find other less expensive Windows tablets.
    Tablets
However, please keep in mind that there are two different types of Windows tablets running two different operating systems.
    (a) A Windows tablet with an Intel-based processor running Windows 8.1 Pro
    Example: Surface Pro 3
You can install and run traditional desktop apps (e.g. Adobe Reader XI) and new Windows Store apps ("Modern" or "Metro-style" apps).
    (b) A Windows tablet with an ARM-based processor running Windows RT 8.1
    Example: Surface 2
You can only install and run Windows Store apps (e.g. Adobe Reader Touch) but not traditional desktop apps like Adobe Reader XI.
In general, type (b) tablets are more affordable than type (a) tablets.  However, if you want to run Adobe Reader XI, you do need to check the technical specification of each tablet and make sure the following conditions are met.
    Processor: Intel
Operating system:  Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 8/8.1 Pro, not RT
Hope this helps you choose the right device for your department.  Please let us know if you have any questions about system requirements or supported features in the Adobe Reader products.

  • New document alert: How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS

Opening PDF Files in Reader for iOS (iPhone and iPad) has been very helpful to many users of Adobe Reader for iOS.  However, Apple has drastically changed the user interface in iOS 7, which made the original document obsolete.
According to Apple Developer Support's App Store Distribution page, 89% of devices connected to the App Store are using iOS 7 during a 7‑day period ending June 29, 2014.
Because of the exceptionally high iOS 7 adoption rate, Adobe Reader for iOS version 11.3 now supports iOS 7 only.
Here are the new How-To documents for iOS 7.
How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad on iOS 7 version)
How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)
(It had to be split into two separate documents because each contains way too many screenshots.)
Hope these documents are as helpful as the original one.
Please let us know if you have any feedback or suggestions on the topics for other help documents/tutorials.

    Dennis (or any Adobe rep),
Any updates to the OP's question? I'm with a large government agency, and we're moving away from GoodReader for reasons I can't go into here, and the ability to add user-defined bookmarks within the app is a mandatory feature for the document reader we select. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.6.1) installed on my government iPad, and the ability to add user-defined bookmarks still seems to be missing. Does Adobe have any plans to add this feature, or is it already present and I'm simply overlooking it?
    Thanks,
    Cam

You can send this pdf back to Dropbox by pressing the share button. This is what it looks like on an iPhone, but it is the same on an iPad:

  • Does Adobe Reader for iOS and Android Support Encryption with PKI Solution?

    Hello there,
I have been searching for an answer whether or not Adobe Reader for iOS and Android can read encrypted PDF files by public key infrastructure solution (encrypted by a public key, to be decrypted by its private key pair), but to date I have not found the answer.  From the Adobe web site, I understand that Adobe Reader for Android supports to read encrypted document by AES256 but it does not mention about PKI.  I had to guess that it does not support encryption with PKI but I would just like to get a formal answer, and would like to know whether Adobe Reader Mobile will support it.
    Thanks!
    Masaya

    Hi there,
Now we have Acrobat DC Mobile but I am still wondering if encryption/description using PKI solution (digital certificates) is supported.  Could anyone let me know?  Thank you.
