Adobe reader Form PDF renderered in Internet Explorer not being read by JAWS

Hello,
I'm checking the accessibility of my web application in case of XFA forms generated from Lifecycle Server ES. The standalone version of the PDF forms gets easily read by JAWS but when the same PDF is embedded in a web application JAWS does not read at at all. A sample which is not being in a web application is

Thanks,
Aditi B

If you want to open the PDF in the browser you have to explicitely set the content type to "application/pdf", if you use "application/octet-stream" you'll always get the download box and when you choose to open from this box the reader will be used because the reader is configured to open PDF documents in the windows filetypes settings.

  • Adobe & Internet Explorer crashing when opening pdf within an Internet Explorer window

    Hello,
Can anyone help me with this issue or maybe point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Working with in a ASP that uses reader to display forms. The form opens as an embedded adobe form in a new Internet Explorer window. Once the form opens it pulls data from the ASP. At times when the form opens in the new window both the Internet Explorer windows close. Other times a "user request stop" error appears and once OK is pressed both windows close. The ASP does not know what causes this & can not seem to replicate the problem. ASP is on the other side of the country.
Would the acrotray.exe be causing this?

  • Unable to open pdf files using Internet Explorer and Adobe 9.1

We are unable to open any/all pdf files in Internet Explorer 6 or 7 using Adobe Reader 9.1 on Windows XP SP2.
The error message is that IE has a problem and sorry for the inconvenience.
    Clicking "OK" closes IE.
We did not have any issue with Adobe Reader 8.1.
    What we did to date:
    1. Uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1
    2. Run Windows Clean Utility to remove any remnant of Adobe Reader 8
    3. Re-install Adobe Reader 9.1
    Any other suggestions?
    Need to have this upgrade.

I'm having a similar issue. Prior to upgrading to Acrobat 9.1 I was able to view PDFs from IE 6. No longer. Instead I get a message: "Error opening document. File cannot be found."
    Help?

  • How to install Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer

How do I install an Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer?

If you install Acrobat 10 then it will automatically configure the PDFMaker toolbar in I.E. You can try repairing the software.
Open Acrobat -> Go to Help menu -> Repair Acrobat Installation.
    Solution #2
Select "Enable third-party browser extensions" in Internet Explorer Properties.
    1. Start Internet Explorer.
    2. Select Tools > Internet Options and click the Advanced tab.
    3. Select "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)" and click OK.
    4. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
    5. Restart Internet Explorer.
If still doesn't work then let me know what the version of I.E and Acrobat you are using.

  • I cannot open any PDF's in Internet Explorer

Starting just a few days ago, I can no longer open PDF files in Internet Explorer (IE 9). I'm not sure, but this could have started when I upgraded from Reader X 10.1.5 to 10.1.6.
I can open PDF's fine in Firefox 19.0, just not Internet Explorer. I have tried numerous suggestions that I found in this forum and elsewhere:
    Turned off popup blocker.
Changed the Internet option in Adobe Reader's preferences to both open PDF's in the browser and not to open the PDF in the browser. Neither option works.
Tried running Internet Explorer in Compatiilty View for the websites where I am trying to view the PDF files.
There was a suggestion to clear the Internet Explorer cache. I could not find that option (cache) under the Setting for IE. The closest thing I found was Temporary Internet Files, so I deleted them.
I uninstalled Adobe Reader and installed an earlier version (10.1.4).
I made sure that the plugin/extention 'Adobe PDF Helper' was enabled.
None of the above has helped. I'm just about out of ideas. The fact that I can still open PDF's using Firefox makes this less than an emergency, but I would really like to get this resolved.
I had some trouble searching this forum (Adobe Reader) thoroughly, so if there is another post out there that has some solutions (other than the 6 items I already tried) please fell free to post a link to it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I just thought I would add some information (albeit vague) on how I solved this problem. I had another computer (laptop) that was not experiencing this problem. I compared the IE settings on the laptop with the IE settings on my desktop and changed all the settings on the desktop to match the laptop. I then restarted IE on my desktop and was able to open PDF files! Since it was working for me, I didn't go back and try to figure out which of the changed settings led to the solution to the problem. If enough people on the forum request it, I will try to go back and isolate the pertinent settings.

  • FDF file opening in Internet Explorer--not in Adobe Acrobat Professional XI

    Good morning!
I have created a form in Acrobat Professional XI and have a submit button that emails that data back as an .fdf file.  This is working as it should.
However, on some of the returned emails, the .fdf file is opening in Internet Explorer--not in the associated file in  Acrobat Professional XI.
Is this the default?  Is there a way that I can specify that it always opens in Acrobat?
I looked on line, and found where you have to associate that type of file with Acrobat
    I have Windows XP
in My Computer--in Tools, Folder Options, File Types, I have where FDF files are associated with Adobe Acrobat.
Are there other changes that need to be made?
We have a work-around--we can import the file data into the form--just takes a little longer.
I tested this before I posted the form online, and it worked perfect.  Now that it is online, we are seeing some snags...
As always--Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your quick response!
no--it is an fdf file.  Has an .fdf extension.
One difference that I have noticed that the file that is opening correctly (in acrobat) was sent from a gmail account.  The file that is opening in internet explorer was filled out in Adobe Reader XI from an outlook email.
This is the window that appears when the file is opened.
On the Tools--the only items that are accessible from this screen is the AddOnTools--not all the tools sets.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

  • Unable to open PDF files in Internet Explorer

    Hello,
One of our users has a problem with opening PDF files in Internet Explorer.
    Translation:
    Adobe PDF-document
There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Close Adobe Acrobat/Read and try again.
The user is using Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard in combination with Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6. I reinstalled Adobe Acrobat (under an administrator account), deleted the local user profile and the problem is still there.
Does anyone have an idea about this? The error message doesn't really say what is wrong. Adobe Reader is not installed.

What exactly means "unable"?  Do you see a little x in a box on the top left of IE11?  If so, this may be the solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2716529

  • Why does Adobe 9 and Windows 7 Internet explorer not play well?

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and Adobe 9 came with the software package for new computer. Everytime I try to download a pdf file from Internet explorer it times me out and I end up with an error message   "there is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please close and try again later."  and no pdf. Explorer closes and I have to try again all over again.
Any help out there would be great

Unfortunately, you have posted to the Forum Comments forum. You need to post to the Acrobat Reader forum, assuming that you are talking about Reader, otherwise post to the Acrobat Pro forum.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

I have written some function in PluginInit. I don't want to call the method when acrobat launches in IE. It should call only when acrobat launches in Desktop.
How can I call the method only when it launches on desktop.

  • Heavy performance issues using Adobe Interactive Form PDFs generated by SAP BPM

    Dear experts,
we use Adobe Interactive Form PDFs (generated with LiveCycle Designer) as Human Tasks within SAP BPM processes. The PDFs are generated and transmitted correctly, but when they are opened at the receivers PC, Windows freezes for 2-3 minutes, then the PDF opens and can be filled out and sent back. The next PDFs can be opened much faster, but when the PC is restarted, we get the same problem again. We use Adobe Reader XI (11.0.2) on our clients; is their any know performance issue?
Please note, that we have this problem with EVERY Adobe Interactive Form PDF... I created a simple PDF containing just a field and the client PC still freezes. So it can't be in the form or the scripting. Normal static PDFs can be opend without any problems.
    Best regards,
    David

They haven't really announced it, because there is no product to announce. Rather the opposite.
There are no conversion tools, so far as I know.
XFA forms are a non-starter if you want portability.
AcroForms are a nightmare in themselves, because the functionality is limited in Adobe Reader and varies between absent and weird in other products. No idea about Blackberry support.
You will not find a simple recommendation. Rather, you need to use Acroforms and carefully test everything (EVERYTHING: no assumptions) on every platform you intend to support.
Yes, rather unsatisfactory, but until Adobe realise that the future is platform equivalence or irrelevance, this is where we are.

  • Trying to install adobe flash player onto mac using internet explorer 5.2 for mac.

Trying to install adobe flash player onto mac using internet explorer 5.2 for mac.  But the page that I need keeps telling me that Adobe Flash Player still needs to be installed.  I've downloaded AFP several times, and I see it installed correctly on my mac, but the same error message keeps coming up.  All of the support that I see is either for mac or for Internet Explorer, but not for both and not for the version of Internet Explorer that I am using.  Please help.  Thank you.

Wow, IE for Mac is pretty old.  What Mac OS are you using?  I'm 99% sure you're going to need an older version of the Player, but I'll need to know the OS version to figure out which one.

  • Why can't I download a pdf file using internet explorer as my browser.I can download pdfs using fire

Why can't I download a pdf file using internet explorer as my browser. I can download pdfs using firefox.

    Gilad D,
    Thanks for the support.
I would guess the plugin is enabled since when I use Foxfire as my browser, all pdfs download and are readable. (just doesn’t happen when I use IE as my browser, I get a blank screen with a small “x” in the upper left corner)
I will try your proposed solution.

  • Can't exit pdf file in internet explorer.

When I open a pdf file in internet explorer, I an unable to exit the pdf file.  The only way I can get out of it is by shutting down internet explorer.  I am using internet explorer 11 with windows 7.  Is there a way to resolve this issue??

Are you trying to open a PDF in a 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?
If you don't know how to see the version - In Internet Explorer, choose Help > About Internet Explorer. (In some versions of Internet Explorer, select the Question mark in the upper-right corner to select About Internet Explorer).
To switch to the 32-bit Internet Explorer, first exit 64-bit Internet Explorer. Then double-click the program icon for the 32-bit version:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

i cant open many website with firefox, there say filter not let open this site, but when i open they with internet explorer not have any problem.

Could you post an example of the filter message?
This article has more information on the filters built in to Firefox: [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/phishing-protection/ Firefox Phishing and Malware Protection].
It's possible that you also have a Firefox add-on, or external software, that is filtering what you see. However, we don't have enough information to help identify it yet. If you want to review a list of your add-ons, you can find them under: Help > Troubleshooting Information.
