Adobe Reader frozen

Adobe Reader is frozen and I cannot print screen. I really need the form on the screen with the date I have completed on it. Is there any way to print this docuement. The screen has been frozen for about 1.5 hours. IO am afriad because this dat is verry very important and will take serious mental time to redevelop it.
FYI: Oh for the future I have downloaded the most recent version of Adobe Reader.

Are you viewing the PDF IN Reader or in a browser Window (IE, Firefox, etc.)?

  • Adobe Reader 9 freezes up my pc on 'close'

I have been having problems in closing down the internet by using the 'X' in the top right hand corner of the screen. It would start to close, then I'd get a pop-up message stating something like"Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close," with an option below to report the fault or not report it. Whichever option I chose, once I'd clicked on it, my pc would then freeze up. Then I could not do anything; I couldn't access the Start-Turn Off Computer option as everything was frozen and the only way out was to hold the on/off switch on the hard drive in for a few seconds to make the system cut out. I could then switch it back on and start again, but the same thing would happen again as soon as I clicked on 'X' in the top-right. IE6, IE7 and Firefox made no difference; they all jammed up when closing. I tried several remedies over many hours, none of which worked until I uninstalled Adobe Reader 9 which I had only recently set up and the problem disappeared.
Now I've got rid of the problem but I can't read anything in Adobe because I don't have it and I dare not risk installing it again. Does anyone know what has happened here? If it means anything I have Windows XP Home edition and Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.

Thanks for your help everyone. All your replies were much appreciated, however I have now solved this myself. If you want to know how then that's my little secret although what I DO know is that Adobe Reader 9.1 really is the worst Adobe yet and I've had enough Adobe problems ever since I've had my pc, I can tell you. It's just a shame that the people who are employed to dream up these scams that will work for some but not all can't go and work in Macdonalds or somewhere, or if counting money is too difficult then maybe outside Macdonalds picking up the litter, and leave the more technical work to those competent enough to do it.
Thanks for another problem, Adobe. Sorry to disappoint you but I've managed to solve it although I'm sure your geeks are thinking of something right now that will be even more difficult to correct.
I've given my opinion of Adobe Reader 9.1 on Cnet. One star out of five because it wouldn't allow me to put zero.

  • Adobe Reader 9 installation freezes computer

upon running the installation for adobe reader 9, setup gets to 99.90 percent, then a new window comes up, similar to the installation window. Estimated time remaining gets to 9 seconds, then the installation freezes, and so does everything else. A cold reboot is required...
I'm currently using foxit reader to read PDFs (Also, programs that print to PDF files cause a similar freeze.
    Computer details:
    Vista 32 bit Home premium.
    3gb ram
300+gb hard disk space more than 50gb free
    Dell inspiron 530 desktop
Spyware doctor - Avira antivir - and Threatfire installed
Interestingly enough, this is being typed in an open firefox window as the installer is frozen, along with the desktop and taskbar.
    Additional details:
Reader (at that time version 8)
Along with PDFcreator both worked perfectly on my system
After reinstalling windows to clear my system *and changing antivirus to Avira - note no security issues are flagged by avira when installer runs*
Pdf creator went buggy. Pdfs printed by PDF creator would freeze when Reader tried opening them. (Although after restarting the system those same pdfs could be opened)
An attempt to repair the Adobe reader installation for version 8 failed, Then Opening Reader alone would freeze my computer. And I had to crudely uninstall Reader as a result. *May have left files - but I've scoured the Temp folders for them*
Anyway, installing adobe reader 9 then led to the error. (Interestingly, adobe reader 9 did appear installed after a cold reboot, and worked, however it dissapeared after the next normall restart.
&I've tried installing using a new acc, same error.
    &FOxit reader works
&Adobe version 8 does not appear on my system.
&All normal computer functions seem to work..(Although a video on Gamespot recently displayed buggy stuff, not related i think)
    &Installations of other programs work
&i've tried installing in a different directory
&Spyware doc, Threatfire, and Avira scans come up clean.
    Just restarted *cold reboot*
The system took a long time to shut down *held the power button for longer*
And the hard disk didnt stop spinning for a very long time...
It also took a very long time to start the computer
Also, running an installer makes me undo the changes made by the adobe reader 9 installation, since it was suspeneded.

Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup to remove vestiges of any version of
Reader in your Registry. Then turn off all antivirus and spyware
    programs. Then try to re-install

  • Adobe Reader 10 Web Application Problem

    Hello,
I am currently troubleshooting issues with Adobe Reader 10, while opening PDF files in a web application using IE, Acro32.exe opens in the background and does not open the page. Any attempt to end the process fails, if the user closes IE and attempts to reopen IE or Adobe Reader 10 application they will either freeze or start in the background and not open a window. The computer must be restarted in order to open these applications again.
    Troubleshooting steps:
Attempted to disable all of Adobe Reader 10's protected mode setting - no change
Attempted to disable "Display PDF in browser" - no change
Updated Reader to 10.1.2 - no change
Forced the frozen Acro32.exe to restart using Sysinternals Procexp and receive the following error "Faulting application acrord32.exe, version 10.1.2.45, faulting module acrord32.exe, version 10.1.2.45, fault address 0x0005640a." The application fails to stop and this error is generated by the new process spawned.
Once the client is rolled back to version 9 the issue is resolved.
The web application does not open inline windows in IE; it will open a new Reader window (in normal functionality).
    Any suggestions?

If you are in Windows, you can try using this tool to remove all traces of Reader:

  • Adobe Reader XI freezes computer when opened from Excel hyperlink

My computer has been frozen multiple times after opening a pdf from a hyperlink in Excel. Sometimes it randomly freezes after reading the document for a while and sometimes it freezes when I try to close the document. I have Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06, I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS, and Excel 2010. The mouse will still move sometimes once things freeze up but clicking doesn't work and alt+ctrl+del doesn't bring up task manager either, so I have to hard reboot. Anyone have a fix for this?
    Thanks in advance.

The first thing I would try is to disable Protected Mode in Adobe Reader [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Help with uninstalling "old" Adobe Reader

Since I trust anything Adobe 100%, I did not hesitate to follow a link (contained in "Adobe for Andoid" email from you to me) to install Adobe Reader on my new NOOK HD+ 32.  IT IS A "BAD" LINK, details were forwarded to Adobe by Chrome Support 7-2-13.  What I have been told from Barnes and Noble, Chrome, Google and Adobe "HELP" Professionals  is to uninstall the download.
You'd think even a 56 year old tech-novice could handle this, right?!?  I Can't because the "Unfortunately System UI message freezes everything up until I respond "okay".... Between my "okay" and typing the "uninstall "  address to my Search bar, the "UI' message has taken over my screen and has frozen every  click I know how to make.  After doing this 5+times, all of the icons begin to shake and then the page completely turns itself off.
I am hoping someone is able to advise me how to "uninstall" from somehere other than my Nook.
    Thank you very much,
    Mizrallen623

It's really hard to say what's going on without knowing more about the system. It's possible that the program is generating an FDF (Forms Data Format) file and launches it, causing the PDF to load and populate with the data in the FDF. Folks have reported that recent changes to Reader have broken this type of thing. So you may need to go back to an even earlier version, such as 9.2 or 9.3, or somehow contact the developers of the application for help.
Is this something that happens in a web browser?

  • Adobe Reader X Constantly Freezing up

Ever since I started using version X, it constantly locks up at least 90% of the time while trying to open a .pdf.  Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for Adobe to quit, other times I have to reboot my computer just to get out of the frozen program.  HELP!  I'm running Windows XP SP02.

I installed Adobe Reader X on 75+ workstations at our Corporate office, upgrading from Reader 9.2
Windows XP SP2, none of the users are local/domain administrators.
I am also sufferring from this issue and it has caused a pretty huge problem here- the Adobe screen will start to open the PDF, the window goes white, and then even ending the AcroRdr32.exe processes directly will not close the software. I even have to hard shut-off the PC's as restart/log off will not work.
    Possible Fix:
I thought I had identified a fix having to do with accepting the license agreement-
    * log on as an administrator and open up a PDF
    * accept the Adobe Reader X license agreement, if there is one
    * log back on as the user and try to open some PDF's
This worked for me on some clients for 1 day- but I am receiving reports that those same clients are running into the freezing issues again.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ADOBE. Considering moving to FoxIT.
I guess I am imaging the boxes again with an older Adobe version...

  • Adobe reader freezing

So I have been lurking around the forums looking for a fix....
Here's what's going on, as some of the other posts are saying when you open adobe reader 11 (07,08,09). It will freeze (not responding) for about 5 minutes, then starts working normally. I have done the unchecking of the enabled mode, verified that it was in there looking at the registry. I have also changed the file history down to 1 as that is also one of the popular fixes. What does fix it however, is to install version 11.0 (base). As soon as you updated back to 09 it starts freezing again. I have a lot of people that this is happening to, now the only thing in common between them is the OS. They are all running windows 7 64bit.
Any assistance on this would be great, I have been battling it for a while now.

well, after the 09 update and it broke every single reader in the organization, I figured out what was causing the 5 minute hang. It seems that reader now connects to the adobe cloud. And in places that have firewall restrictions will have this blocked. So instead of reader just opening, it kept banging at the firewall for about 5-7 minutes, during that time reader is completely frozen. This seems a bit silly to freeze a program because it can't connect to the cloud. After allowing the connection through it was working normally.
    Adobe,
Why does the program completely freeze because they cannot connect to the cloud? Is there a way to disable this so we can lock it down again?
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • Adobe reader hanging for a few seconds after opening, what's the cause?

Hello, I have the following problem: I open a pdf file in Adobe Reader and initially it woks fine, I can navigate and so on, but after about 20 s it suddenly gets like frozen so that I can do nothing but wait until when after about 15 s it recovers and I can continue reading and moving around. It is just an annoyance since it happens every time I open a document. I have installed several actualizations (icluding the last one) of the program but the problem is still there. It is like if some conflictive process starts shortly after the openning and after it finnishes the program works fine again. I have looked in the tasks administrator to see if I find some parallel process that may start itself but as far as I can see nothing more starts after AcroRd32.exe.
    Some idea?
    Thank you in advance

If you have a packet sniffing tool like Fiddler or Wireshark, could just see if Reader is trying to access something on network?

  • Adobe reader print current view and snapshot tool inoperable

Print current view is inoperable in part of the document snapshot tool is inoperable in all of the document, why?
I am trying to print a two page pdf in larger print and can't figure out how to do it.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooook.  I tried that, but Adobe reader froze so hard, I had to do a hard boot.  Don't ever start Adobe Reader then go to straight to "help". When I exited help,  I got a red screen which had "legal notices" and "credits".  Clicking on either of those worked.  When I tried to exit, I just got a beep.  When I tried to close with the task manager it said that the program was locked and could not be closed.  When I tried to soft re-boot my whole system froze.  Only a hard boot got me out of the frozen Adobe reader.
Now back to the task at hand.  Fit does nothing.  To make the document readable, I have to zoom to 125%, but zoom does not influence type size except in "current view", To print a two page document, I have to do 26 "current views".  I NEED the snapshot tool, why is it inoperable?

  • Disable automatic updates in Adobe Reader DC?

Is it possible to disable automatic updates in the Adobe Reader DC? It's not under preferences where it used to be.

In an academic environment, the inability to disable updates is unacceptable.  We have numerous computers that we intentionally never update.  For example, all student computers never update; they are frozen with a program called DeepFreeze.
And even for our employee machines, no users have admin rights, so they cannot update the program themselves.
In addition, registry hacks are an unacceptable alternative to us.  If something goes wrong, we have to explain to our CIO that we used a registry hack, and that is not going to go over well.
For now, we are going to hold off upgrading to the DC version until Adobe implements an official way to disable updates.  If they refuse to implement an official method in the coming months, we'll just start using the browsers' built-in PDF readers and not install Adobe Reader at all.
