Adobe Reader ignores mouse scroll speed setting

Whenever I load a .PDF file, the mouse scroll wheel setting is ignored and the document scrols 1 line at a time. This is very annoying when trying to read a document, especially is it is a long one.
Is there a way to set the scroll speed in the Reader so that it matches the Windows scroll speed setting?

Can anybody tell me how to set a mouse scroll speed in "chromium" for example? I found an application called "imwheel", and edited ~/.imwheelrc adding
"^chromium$”
None, Up, Button4, 5
None, Down, Button5, 5
but still get an error:
INFO: imwheel started (pid=897)
expected 3 args, got 1, in config.
“^chromium$”
How to make it properly, anyone?
fixed it, just needed to remove "$" sign in “^chromium$” > “^chromium”.
One thing is if imwheel working, you cant increase fonts in chromium with "ctrl + wheel" unfortunately.

  • Lion mouse scroll speed scrolling too fast

System Pref > Mouse > Scrolling Speed is set to the slowest level and it is still way too fast!  Heard others complaining about this on a Parallels discussion group and thought I would post here.  Incease the range of scrolling sensitivity in an update please!  Reply to this post if you are having the same issue.
Scrolling was always way to fast in leopard when using Iphoto, but this with Lion it is too fast everywhere else except for huge files.

I suppose you are using a non-Apple mouse. You will need to update the software, and adjust the tracking multiplier within the software.
Logitech just came out with an update for Lion.

  • Mouse scrolling speed is too fast

It appears that iPhoto doesn't honor the mouse scrolling speed in system prefs. Scrolling with the mouse is useless for me because the slightest up or down movement scrolls several pictures at a time. I have a Logitech MX Revolution... I don't know if the mighty mouse behaves any differently. Is anyone else annoyed by this?

Nevermind... I discovered the Logitech prefs allow me to fine tune the scroll wheel.

  • Why does Adobe Reader use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out now, rather than actually scroll?

Why does Adobe Reader use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out rather than actually, um, scroll? I can't find anywhere to change this function in Preferences, either.

I had the same problem on my Windows 8 touch screen laptop.  It was driving me crazy! Every time I tried to scroll a page down, the program would zoom the page!  Made reading an ebook difficult.
    I finally found the solution:
Under Edit select Preferences - General
Uncheck "Make Hand Tool Use mouse-wheel zooming".

When I print in Adobe Reader, the paper scrolls down several inches before the text begins therefore running off the page.  I have tried numerous settings and cannot fix problem.  Help!!!

The issue is definitely with Java Sun. "Uneven character spacing when printing JTextComponent"
It is raised on the http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6488219
And currently in OPEN state, and raised on 31 Oct 2006 and mentions it was caused by fix 4352983.
So where do we go from here. It's not good because I have tried all later version of the JVM and the issue is still there.
Why? Because it hasn't been fixed yet. Read the bug report above, as it gives more insight -- and mentions the workaround is NOT good for existing code.
So the way forward is to use an earlier version of the JVM 5.
I download the JVM version 1.5.0 (starting version) and works Ok... I would probably think version prior to 4352983 would be Ok too.
Please vote for this.... We have a workaround (use older version of the JVM).
    So I am very happy.

  • Mouse Scroll speed problems with JVM

I could not find Java (Apple’s JVM ) forums, so I might be posting this in the wrong forum. With that disclaimer, here is my issue:
I am running into a problem where the mouse-wheel scrolling speed configurations are not being properly passed to Java applications. I have set my scrolling speed to the maximum, all works well with regula apps, yet when I use my mouse-wheel to scroll and window in a Java application, scrolling it is unbearably slow, the wheel becomes useless.
Also, horizontal scrolling does not work in any java application either.
I believe these are a problem with Apple's JVM implementation. Are there any workarounds?
    Has anyone else experience this?
    JVM v1.5

Does this happen with all Java apps or just a handful? I ask because I found that OpenOffice scrolls so slowly that it's unusable. However, I think this is an issue with OO, not with Java. Other Java apps scroll fine for me.

  • After upgrading to 20.0.1, my mouse scrolling speed is slow

I've just updated to 20.0.1 from 19.0.2 and suddenly, the speed of my mouse scrolling has decreased dramatically. When I tried other browsers, it was usual/normal speed but for firefox, it was very slow (i.e around 5+ lines decreased).
I have looked at one of the recent post about this problem (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/948356?esab=a&s=mouse+wheel+scroll&r=0&as=s) however, even setting mousewheel.enable_pixel_scrolling to "false", it didn't revert back to normal/usual speed.
FYI, this is without smooth scrolling. I don't use this feature due to personal preference.
    Help would be appreciate it.

I had a similar problem where it seemed like smooth scrolling was always "ON". Whenever I moved my mouse scrollwheel for 1 notch, the page only scrolled for a few pixels. So it looked like smooth scrolling was enabled somewhere even though it was set to "OFF" in Firefox options.
It turned out that it was a Logitech extension that was causing the problem, more precisely Logitech SetPoint software which was smoothing the scrolling and overriding Firefox's settings.
So if you have a Logitech mouse and Logitech SetPoint software installed, go into Firefox menu Tools -> Add-ons, then click on "Extensions" on the left and then find Logitech SetPoint entry and DISABLE it. I did that and scrolling was then back to normal, as configured within Firefox settings.

  • Adobe Reader Bookmark panel scrolling

We have documents with a large number of bookmarks. We would like to be able to scroll through the bookmarks but there is no scroll bar on the bookmarks panel. The mouse wheel allows us to perform this action, however we are using a smartboard to display the pdfs so that's not an option.
Is there a way to display a scroll bar in the bookmarks panel or enable clicking and dragging in the panel to make it easier to scroll through the bookmarks?
    Thanks

I had the same issue and this post was the first result on Google. After seeing no replies I immediately gave up searching and instead dropped into Adobe Reader's View menu and started tinkering.
    SOLUTION:
It turns out Adobe Reader changes some settings on installation if it detects certain hardware (eg. a touchscreen). In this case the offending option is 'Touch Mode.' To get to the option (in Adobe Reader Xl v11.0.07 on Windows 7) go to 'View'->'Show/Hide'->'Toolbar Items' and click on 'Touch Mode.' There's a checkbox next to it that is always checked on my system but clicking it does seem to toggle a vertical scrollbar in the bookmarks pane.
I have no idea why someone at Adobe decided it would be a good idea to disable the scrollbar at all, ever. It makes it impossible to navigate large PDFs like technical manuals and there's no notice at all to the user that settings have been "optimized" for a touch interface.
It would be nice of the program to ask before doing in the future. But instead the distinctions between malware and products like Adboe Reader (with all its many issues, vulnerabilities and shady behind-the-scenes operations) continues to blur year after year. I hope this helps someone else having the same issue and maybe someone from Adobe might read this and take my advice to heart.

  • Adobe Reader 7.0 crashes when setting a comment to "resolved"

    If I select Show->Show by Status->None
and then select Set Status->Completed (or any other status), the reader crashes (I assume a segfault).
I am using Adobe Reader 7.0 on Arch Linux. My system has a 64-bit Intel Processor, but I have a full 32-bit emulation environment installed and everything else seems to work fine.

    Hello Robert,
Thanks for reporting this issue. We have verified that this is a bug in the current Reader version (8.1.1 as well as 7.x). We will work towards fixing this in an upcoming release.
If you would like to be part of the our pre-release program to test this out, please send your email address to our Program Manager at agarg at adobe dot com.

  • Adobe Reader X Print quick fix setting deploy

Regarding this issue http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/873/cpsid_87345.html is there a way to set this setting to all users in a Win Server 2008 R2
    environment ?

I'm having the exact same problem. My document is a one-page item distributed by the federal government, so theoretically no problems within it that would give the public problems. I found a similar message about this in Adobe's forums where the person was told they should not have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Adobe Reader 10 installed at the same time. Well removing Acrobat is dangerous, because when I installed Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, an expensive Web design tool, its installer said Acrobat was required for Dreamweaver to function. And one more thing: This effor message we're getting talks about going to the Device Settings page and making sure the Available PostScript Memory is accurate. I can't find a Device Settings page. I've even Googled the Web to find out what it might be; no luck!!

  • Adobe Reader X triggers high speed fan in Qosmio F750

Has anybody experienced this? When certain .pdf files are opened it triggers the fan to start blowing air inside the laptop. Will not stop until reboot or close down. Not all .pdf files do this - think it is about 50%. This laptop has done this since bought in June 2012.
    Anybody got any ideas?

Ive never heard about that. Is this issue related to pdf files and Adobe Reader only or you have noticed that some specific actions or when more different applications are open this happen.
Before you open it next time try to close some useless processes in task manager and check please if this will happen again.
    Please post some feedback.

  • Firefox completely ignores every scroll line setting in the universe

I'm on Kubuntu 12.04. Many months ago, I found that when I set my OS to scroll one line at a time, this worked for other applications, but not for Firefox. So, I went into about:config and set mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines to false and set the number of lines to 1. This worked until anywhere from a few days to a few weeks ago (it was very hard to notice and I can't remember when I did). Firefox has reverted back to scrolling 3 lines at a time, and nothing in KDE's configuration or about:config is changing that. This problem persists in safe mode.

hello Cadeyrn, the scrolling behaviour has changed in firefox 17 - those old preferences in about:config are now obsolete.
try to make the values of mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_x, mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_y & mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_z smaller...

  • How to set default view in Adobe Reader 9?

I am trying to figure out how to set adobe reader so that when you open a document you automatically get the page view on the right side come up and the document in full mode.  I have researched registry edits and also the customize wizard with no luck.  Does Adobe Reader have the capability to set these as defaults on any document?  I have the application setup to remember what I did so if I open the same document it will show pages and be in full mode; however, if I open a new document, I have to select the icon on the left to display pages and then set to full mode.  Thanks Joe

Does Adobe Reader have the capability to set these as defaults on any document?
Adobe Acrobat can do this, not Adobe Reader.

  • Adobe Reader choppy scrolling

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having an issue with Adobe Reader for OSX 10.8.4. Whenever I load up a PDF using Adobe Reader and being scrolling through it I notice that it scrolls extremely choppy but when I open the same PDF with preview, it works perfectly smooth. Does anyone know what's going on or know of a fix? I've tried to google search for a solution but I have yet to come accorss anything useful. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

    Hi WiLD_Cat,
No solution I'm afraid but just to let you know I have exactly the same problem with my MBA core i5 1.7GHz with 8GB RAM which I purchased last week. Some web pages (Facebook is a good example, The Guardian as well) are really unresponsive/choppy while scrolling up/down, while others are ok. I have also noticed that typing text into web forms (such as this one) produces a noticeable lag with text appearing).
Obviously interested if you or anyone else has a solution!
