Adobe Reader install hang

Hi, I'm trying to install Adobe Reader (Windows 7, 64-bit, Firefox, have tried installing both v.9.4 English and 10.1.1. English) and the install hangs halfway through each time I've tried. It downloads fine. Anyone have any insights? Thanks!

You may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Then, download the Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and perform a clean install.

  • HT204347 I need to find out what is wrong with my Macbook Pro. I have Adobe Reader installed on it and Adobe Flashplayer installed on it. I am not able to do anything with either of these programs, no videos, printing certificates, etc.

I have adobe reader installed on my Macbook Pro and also Adobe flashplayer installed. I am not anble to see any video from the net, news feeds, or anything like that on my computer. I cannot print off certificates that I need all it does when I attempt to print the certificate is that it shows that it is loading and comes back and tells me there was an error in loading the information. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

  • View PDF File Without Adobe Reader Installed

    All,
Is there a way to serve PDF files on a website to users without Adobe Reader installed on their machine?  Is there a plug-in that I can install on the webserver that will be used to launch PDF files instead?

    what device are you using?

I have Adobe reader installed.  However, I am unable to open some files because it is asking for Adobe's approval to open the files. How do I do this please?

That message is NOT from Adobe, and has nothing to do with Adobe's approval for anything.
Quite the opposite: Adobe Reader is NOT YET RUNNING, Adobe aren't involved. Some other app or program is putting out that message. Have you tried giving that permission?

  • 2 medical softwares often can't open pdf, just after the adobe reader install but IExplorer succeded

    Hello,
We have two softwares ( medical application) which open pdf via adobe reader XI.
Theses softwares often can't open pdf, just after the adobe reader install( using adobeArCleaner+Customisation Wizard XI).
At this point Internet Explorer is ok to open pdf with adobe reader...
We have to launch manually adobe reader once on the computer to make the two applications to manage openning pdf
Launching adobe reader seems to finish the installation...
Did the editors have to put an "option" when they open pdf ( to act like Internet Explorer...) ?
    Thanks

I am very glad to have a so rapid answered!
    Sorry I was not precise...
    When the file should open,
for one application an error is happening,
for the other application which is a "web" application, an other window ( not "web") opens with adobe reader and the pdf document ( the expected behavior is to open adobe reader and the pdf file in the web window already opened)
I think that the file association is ok, if we double clik on a pdf, adobe reader is opening and then the file is opening  in adobe reader window...
If I open Internet Explorer and I search for a pdf on the web, It is openning in the same window web.
But something seems not finish for the medical softwares...

  • Detect if Adobe Reader installed

I have an Air app that runs on iOS, Android, and desktop.  Can I detect if the device/PC already has Adobe Reader installed?
This is more of an issue with Android because it doesn't support the browser plug-in.
I simply want to prompt the user to install the Reader if they don't already have it installed.
    Thanks,
    Don

Just a suggestion; I'm not sure if there is an easier way: check registry key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader" if it's present, then drill down "8.0\InstallPath" (or whatever version is installed. In the path you find in there (e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader) you could check if "AcroRd32.exe" is present.
Another way you could check if the PDF file type associates with "AcroRd32.exe".

  • Adobe Reader XI hangs Internet Explorer!

We support several clients and as each PC upgrades to Adobe Reader XI it breaks the IE Add-On (view in browser) capability.
The pdf starts to download, pops up in the browser, and then in about 5-10 seconds hangs until it times out (45 minutes later).
IE then throws up the error "A network error occurred while accessing this document on the Internet. Would you like to close the document or reload it?"
If the user downloads the pdf it works; if the user uses Chrome or FF it works!  Have tried disabling the "Fast View".  It just then allows me to see when it stops downloading.
I have tried Windows XP, Win7 & Win8 and different versions of IE and they all fail!
I am seeing this across all my clients!
Sometimes, if I disable the Add-on it will then download and open it in Adobe Reader but sometimes (haven't figured out the exact combination but IE9 & Win 7 fails) even though it's disabled, it still opens it in the browser and hangs.
I created a GPO that disables the Add-n but it continues to try to open it in the IE browser.
    Help!

We've been testing this some more, and we've discovered our problem. We have a Xerox global print driver installed on our computers that runs our printer.
If we take a file created in the Microsoft Suite, whether Word or Excel, and print to PDF through the print driver, and then upload that file to a website and provide a link in a page for people to click, the PDF throws an error in Internet Explorer, giving the error listed above, and fails to open. The PDF opens fine locally through Internet Explorer, and you can view the file through the "View" option in Gmail. You can also view that file in Firefox and Chrome with no problem. And the file downloads just fine.
If we take the same file and use the "Save As" option in the Microsoft program to save the file as a PDF and upload that to a website, the file opens just fine in Internet Explorer, as well we everywhere else.
The print driver is doing something in the PDF-making process that bothers Internet Explorer.
