Adobe reader installation error on Mac

I can download Adobe reader but when I run the installer, it is not installed.
I get this message:  "Installer package Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06) installer failed (The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.  Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)"
I have down loaded from several sites with different browsers and always end up with the same result.  I just updated to Mavericks and my old Reader will not work.  I can't discover how to contact the "software manufacturer" which I guess would be Adobe.  What do I do now?

"Adobe Reader Installation Error: installer: Package name is Adobe Reader XI (11.0.04) installer: Installing at base path / installer: The install failed (The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)"

  • Mac: Adobe Reader Installation error

I get the following error when trying to install Adobe Reader on my Mac (running OS X 10.8.4):
dyld: DYLD_environment variables being ignored because main executable
(/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Install.framework/Resources/runner) is setuid or setgid installer:
Package name is Adobe Reader XI (11.0.03) Installer: Installing at base path / installer: The install failed (The
Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for

Evidently the install process is running afoul of some security issue but I don't know how to work around the problem.
    Would appreciate any pointers. Thanks.

    Problem solved.
I repaired disk permissions using Disk Utility. After that Acrobat Reader installed just fine.
That was what I was going to suggest.
"setuid or setgid installer" errors are ALWAYS permissions related.

I unblocked cookies and pop-ups and allowed JavaScript. I have a Mac OSX 10.9.5 and tried the installation on both Safari and Chrome. Can anyone help? I need this installed ASAP!!

Try if the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ works better.

  • Adobe Reader installation error: "object doesn't support property or method 'text'"

I'm trying to install Adobe Reader and I have the following error after launching the installer:
"object doesn't support property or method 'text'"
My OS is Win7 Ultimate 64b (using AVG antivirus), but I encounter the same error on other systems too:
    Win7 Ultimate 32b (AVG Antivirus)
    Win7 Enterprise 64b (McAfee Antivirus)
No matter which button I click, the installer hangs:
I googled this error, but couldn't find any solution.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

This error mostly occurs if your language is not set to English (on the Adobe.com website).  This has been reported to Adobe a million times, but they don't seem to have any intererest in fixing it.

  • Adobe Reader Installation Error 1328

    Hi,
Trying to update my installation of Adobe Reader on Windows XP to

Who, or what, is my "patch vendor" ?
    Cheers

Run the Acrobat Cleaner Tool, then download and run the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Is it the Download assistant that is freezing or is it the web browser that freezes?

  • Keep getting "general installation error" message Mac OSX 10.8.5/Safari 6.0.5

keep getting "general installation error" message Mac OSX 10.8.5/Safari 6.0.5 Followed all the instructions for uninstalling and clean installing. Just wont install

Make sure you have it set to "show hidden files"
Check BOTH places and you have to restart Finder
Press "Quit This" and then go to the Finder Dock icon and right click it
    Select "Open"
    Open TIme Machine
Go back to September 28 or earlier.
You'll see the mach_kernel file in the Mac HD directory
(I can't show it in the TM because screenshots don't work while it's open but here it is in my MAc HD)
Right click it and select "Restore to"
Then, when it goes back to Finder, choose the Mac HD directory and click OK.
It will place the mach_kernel back where it was and you can install software again
DON'T FORGET to go back and hide your files (and restart Finder) again, or you'll have a mess with the clutter of hidden files everywhere.

  • How do I stop the Adobe Reader Installer from crashing?

I downloaded install_reader10_en_air_mssa_aih.exe and this popup appears:
    Microsoft Visual Studio Debugger
An exception occurred. Process will be terminated. (Exception address is 00413E6C).
If I leave it open for a while, it eventually says:
    Just-In-Time Debugging
An exception 'Runtime Error' has occurred in Script.
However, no debuggers are registered that can debug this exception. Unable to JIT debug.
When I tried opening a second copy, I did not get this popup, but instead received a different message:
    Adobe Reader Installer
    Installation encountered errors
    Actionlist not found

Try the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
