Adobe reader installed but programs refusing to acknowledge.

Greetings,
I have numerous educational programs which have resources in pdf format that since i have updated my version of adobe reader from 9 to X(latest update) refuse to open. All of these programs worked perfectly fine using adobe reader 9
The messages i get from each program are all variations on "you do not have an application installed that can read documents with the pdf extension"
All the programs have a graphical front end to them through which you navigate to the desired topic, click the link of the resource and it would normally open in reader since it should be picking up pdf files. They are part of the boardworks and heinemann product families if anyone reading this is into education.
Im running windows 7 sp1 32bit and abobe reader x 10.1.0.. Have already tried a reinstall..
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem just now and what worked for me was i archived a email in MS outlook using the Adopbe PDF dropdown menu and then I had full access to X Pro again.

We have two softwares ( medical application) which open pdf via adobe reader XI.
Theses softwares often can't open pdf, just after the adobe reader install( using adobeArCleaner+Customisation Wizard XI).
At this point Internet Explorer is ok to open pdf with adobe reader...
We have to launch manually adobe reader once on the computer to make the two applications to manage openning pdf
Launching adobe reader seems to finish the installation...
Did the editors have to put an "option" when they open pdf ( to act like Internet Explorer...) ?

Sorry I was not precise...
When the file should open,
for one application an error is happening,
for the other application which is a "web" application, an other window ( not "web") opens with adobe reader and the pdf document ( the expected behavior is to open adobe reader and the pdf file in the web window already opened)
I think that the file association is ok, if we double clik on a pdf, adobe reader is opening and then the file is opening in adobe reader window...
If I open Internet Explorer and I search for a pdf on the web, It is openning in the same window web.
But something seems not finish for the medical softwares...

I have Adobe reader installed, but can't open pdfs in Firefox and it doesn't show in the Applications tab.

When I click on a pdf link, the new tab opens but doesn't show the content of the pdf. There is no error message. When I look under Tools, Options, applications, there is no option for handling pdfs. I have the Adobe reader for Firefox installed.

Adobe reader installed but not recognised

Adobe reader says it was successfully installed but every time an internet site requires it, it says it cannot be detected and an 'Adobe Reader 8.2 or later needs to be installed'. I have installed about 6 times now and it never works! I have a mac version 10.6.8. Please help me, I am so frustrated.

HT204347 I need to find out what is wrong with my Macbook Pro. I have Adobe Reader installed on it and Adobe Flashplayer installed on it. I am not able to do anything with either of these programs, no videos, printing certificates, etc.

I cannot print off certificates that I need all it does when I attempt to print the certificate is that it shows that it is loading and comes back and tells me there was an error in loading the information. Are you trying to download PDF from Internet ?
You can save if them if a PDF opens in browser if they don't download automatically

I suggest that you
download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and save it to disk
right-click on the downloaded installer and select Run as Administrator

Adobe Reader - instalation into specific folder

I have virtual RAM disc and i have there some programs (office, opera), because I want them to work more quickly. I want install Adobe Reader there, but there is no possibility to do it during the instalation. Is there some way to do it? (Sorry for my English)

I don't want to mess things up even more! Geez--I'm almost 60 years old,
need to work and this might be costing me a job. I'm not 20 and text and
e-mail etc every day. I'm just asking for a little help that as I see it ,
is due to a "glitch" with Adobe's software. They can easily in their
technological minds put a warning on anything before someone downloads
anything such as "If you download this and you have already downloaded
that,, then it won't work." How tough would that be??? They, like most other
major corporations, are in it for the money. What has happened to customer

I need a step by step with my hand held and so it won't screw up things even
MORE. Adobe...get your customer service and your software together...This is
draining. I may lose a job over it. I need to have my computer running well
at this point in time as there is no extra time to spend dealing with

I was on the phone for TWO hours last night telling people exactly what was
going on. I even read the error message word for word. No one would help me
unless I coughed up the money that I don't have...and in addition I will

actually a lovely person. It is just that this stuff rattles my nerves.
