Adobe Reader Issue

I use Windows 7 and when I try to open a file on my desktop that I have copied from the internet and pasted to my desktop I get this message:
Adobe Reader cannot open (file jpg) because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and was not correctly decoded)
I CAN open it in Adobe Photoshop however.
Help please!

If a JPEG file automatically tries to open in Adobe Reader, you will need to change its file association to open in an imaging program like Photoshop.

I have tried many things to try to install it and I have been unsucessful. Please help I have windows 8 64bit.

This did not resolve my issue, it actually made things worse. I did what
you had told me to do below, and it did not work. Tried to access the
internet to respond back to you and my computer was not able to reach the
internet. Tried reaching adobe support and not was able to, even tried
calling was on the phone for 20 minutes and no one answered. I was not able
to re install windows. Contacted Asus from another computer and they were
not able to help me reinstall windows They had asked me to ship my computer
back to them, due to them not being able to resolve the issue and help me
reinstall windows. I luckily had a backup on my external hard drive and was
able to reinstall windows 8. Spent over an hour and half trying to fix
that. Here I am still not able to install adobe reader. I was very unhappy
with what I was told to do and it gave me this issue.
    ·  Open an Administrator command prompt: Right-click Start > All Programs >
Accessories > Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator. Click Allow
    for the elevation prompt
    ·  In the command prompt, type the command below:
    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
The line above assumes that C: is the drive in which Vista is installed. If
it is installed on another drive like D:, change the drive letter
    appropriately.
    ·  Restart the system.
    ·  Install Acrobat or Adobe Reader again.

Yes, I just changed my browser to Internet Explorer and same result, I
still can not read any PDF documents loaded to this site.
I have not tried un installing adobe but that is next, then reinstalling

  • Adobe reader issue on Win 8.1

I keep having an issue with Adobe Reader in which I open a PDF document and I can't view the document, but the image shows on my previous opened PDF document.  Anyone know how to fix this issue?  Also, what's the latest or best Adobe Reader and link please?

I don't know why you can't view the document or why the previously opened document shows, but here's the link to the latest Adobe Reader:http://get.adobe.com/reader/
    Also try:
The Microsoft Excel file repair utility restores data from a corrupted workbooks and worksheets. And software exports information to Microsoft Excel director file later. Excel Repair Toolbox can save a recovered data into new XLSX files.

  • Adobe  reader issues

I have been getting a message when I try to open a page or report  that says There is an issue with adobe reader/acrobat. If running please exit out  and retry.  Problem is I am not running it.  What do I do?

If you want to save the form with data using the Free Reader then you must apply Reader Extensions with either full Acrobat or with the LiveCycle ES Reader Extensions server product.

  • FormsCentral and Adobe Reader issues

Since purchasing FormsCentral (which I think was a mistake), I have not been able to open any pdf documents.  I get an error message that says that Reader cannot open the file because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and the file was not correctly decoded).  What does this mean?  I had recently trialed a pro version of Adobe and had difficulty removing it from my computer, does that have anything to do with it?  When I open my programs, this is what I see from Adobe:  Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Download Assistant.
The other issue is that I think I purchased the wrong program.  I do not need forms that are useable on the web, I need to be able to be able to make changes to pdf's that already exist.  Is there some way that I can exchange this program for one that is recommended for what I need?
thanks very much for any assistance that you can offer.

Your problem with Reader and PDF on your system are not related to FormsCentral purchase.
You might have isues with PDF documents since you tried to uninstalled Acrobat from your system.
You might want to post on the Acrobat forum to get more support : http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

  • ADOBE Reader issues with Macbook Pro

Was trying to view a pay document from my HR site and it said Iwas missing Adobe Reader plug in. I have it downloaded - twice and still no luck. The Adobe reader is in my applications, but the website can not seem to use it.

The web site cannot use the Adobe Reader application directly.  You need to download the pdf and then you can view it with the Adobe Reader application.  If that website doesn't allow the pdf to be downloaded and indeed requires a pdf reader plugin, off hand I don't think Adobe makes a mac browser pdf reader plugin.  I could be wrong but I'm not aware of such a plugin.
On the other there does exist a pdf browser plugin.  It's called, appropriately enough, "PDF Browser Plugin".  You can find it here.   Whether it works or not at that web site you are using is another question that probably can only be answered by trying it.  The web site could be specifically checking for some Adobe plugin, in which case, this substitute will not work.
Are you sure you can't just download the file to use Adobe Reader, or for that matter, Apple's Preview app?

  • Cable modem issue/adobe reader issue

    1. I have a PB G3 (bronze keyboard) and cannot connect to the internet using a comcast cable modem. BUT if I route the modem thru a wireless router and then plug my ethernet into that I have no problems what-so-ever. The big question is WHY? I would like to ditch the wireless router, if possible.
    2. I cannot download Adober Reader 5.0 to my computer. I am running OS 9.2.2 it says it has downloaded and then when I go to install it gets part way through and then stops, doesn't say anything but doesn't continue downloading....

    Megan,
    Welcome to the Discussions!
If the file has downloaded successfully to your desktop or wherever you have designated your download folder, you should see a file named 'rdrweb.sit'. Double-click on it to decompress and you should see an icon named Acrobat Reader Installer. Now quit all applications, restart while pressing the shift key and release when you see 'extensions off' under the Mac logo. Find the Acrobat Installer and double-click on it to install. You may have an extension conflict preventing the installation...just restart when done.
If you still have a problem, find all versions, if any, of Acrobat Reader already installed, drag them to the trash, then try the install again.
If still having problems, run Disk First Aid and also rebuild your desktop file:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=10182
Regarding the cable modem - what are your settings for:
AppleTalk (should be set to Ethernet)
TCP/IP (should be set to Ethernet and Using DHCP Server)
The above settings are what some DSL and cable modem companies use. Give it a try; if unsuccessful, call Comcast.

  • Adobe reader issue: no text!

    Hi,
I cannot see the text in a pdf document. I can only see frames, pictures, etc but no text at all. I tried uninstalling & re-installing Adobe reader, but it was not possible since the installation partition (directory) no longer exists, so even that action was not possible.
    Pls advise. Thanks

Uninstall Reader using the cleaner tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and reinstall Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe reader issue even after latest update

I have installed the recent adobe reader on my windows 7 (g 72- C55DX notebook PC) multiple times but it will not open files. A message comes up: "please update your adobe reader". based on the online support i have fixed my settings and enabled javascript as well but still no improvement I am not able to open files. Please let me know what I should do to resolve this matter.Thank You!

Chrome and Firefox use their own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.
That leaves Internet Explorer; what is the exact message you get in IE - can you post a screenshot?

  • IOS Adobe Reader issues...

I'm having problems using my Adobe Reader app for my iPhone 4S. Every time I add text to a PDF and then email it, none of my changes are mailed. What do I need to do to email annotated PDF's? Thanks

It's not just Adobe PDF Readers, but any Reader that supports Annotation viewing. A number of third party readers support this. Unfortunately, Apple's built in PDF Reader on iPhones and iPads does not support this and many iOS apps use this built in Reader. Thanks for following up!

  • Adobe reader issue there was an error opening this file. the file cannot be found. How to fix this?

We are opening pdf file in flex air application. but for some user we are facing this issue.

Problem is not being able to open pdf attachments.  Get this error message:  "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
I searched on the web and in the context of a discussion I located, an Adobe professional posted this solution: HKCU\Software\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\AVGeneral\bValidateBytesBeforeHeader=dword:00000000.
I am accustomed to attempting to fix things myself, but I am not a computer science person so it's always a stretch for me. If I get a little guidance I can usually make necessary corrections.  I hope that I can with this issue..
Still hoping that someone will know how to fix the error problem which according to what I read is a software issue having to do with the program not understanding something in the pdf header...

  • Adobe Reader 9 - access issue

I have the latest Reader: but I find I cannot access PDF documents from saved emails & directly from My Documents - I get the message 'H:\programme files\Adobe\Reader9.0\Eula.exe Windows cannot access the specified path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item' I am computer administrator.
    I have Windows SP3
I use ZoneAlarm Pro & anti-virus (just in case this might be relevant)
Can anyone assist with an explanation & solution?
    Regards
    D Willmot Smith

re Adobe Reader 9 access issue, 20 Dec
It appears this is not an Adobe Reader issue at all. I have had the same trouble downloading an update to an unrelated programme.
The solution appears to be in ZoneAlarm Pro - I have set the trust level and access permissions for Internet Explorer to 'super trusted' and 'allow' (programme control - programmes), and this seems to have worked.
Other forums point the finger at restrictions in IE7 Enhanced Security feature, and to similar restrictions in some anti-virus/anti spyware programmes. Also, some .exe files for download come automatically blocked, & need unblocking (right-click the .exe, choose properties, then general tab, where there is an 'unblock' button at the bottom.
    Regards, & happy New Year

  • Adobe Reader language pack mapping

Hi all, I use Reader 10.1.4 in WIN7. The PDF has many text labels in font type Myriad Pro.
I have a PDF which allows users to select language of current page, English, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese.  The text labels of different languages are dynamically generated using scripts in variables.
Initially, when I change the page from English to simplified Chinese, it should ask me to download simplified Chinese font pack. However, PDF pops up a warning and asks me to download Japanese language support pack. Like this:
By clicking on OK, it opens the Jp pack download page (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4881) in the web browser.
After downloading this pack (it installs 2 files, KozGoPr6N-Medium and KozMinPr6N-Regular in Reader DIR/Resource/CIDFont), I open the PDF and select Chinese again. This time it asks for simplified Chinese language support pack and take me to this page (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4883).
Same thing happens when I try to select traditional Chinese. PDF directs me to download JP pack first, and second time direct to CN pack download page.
If the page is switched to Korean, PDF directs me to the correct Korean pack page.
I wonder why it goes to download JP, when I only need CN language pack. What is the mapping between the language of my page and the language pack downloaded from Adobe? Is there any way to correct this kind of mis-mapping?
This is a critical issue, and the client is adamant on it. So I’ll be grateful if you could look into it. If this is indeed an Adobe reader issue, then how can I contact Adobe technical support group?

I asked before but I don't think you answered, how the languages are made on the page. I'm going to assume the answer is "they are form fields".
If so, I believe the problem is Han Unification. This, a deliberate part of the design of Unicode, makes it impossible to tell to which language some characters belong. If the FIRST character in a field is a unified han character, Acrobat must guess the language. I think it is especially likely to guess wrong if. Perhaps you could try adding some non-unified character first.
