Adobe Reader MSI Release

I am new to trying to roll out Adobe Reader by Group Policy and MSI's and am having trouble creating a new MSI from 11 and the AdbeRdrUpd11009 MSP. I have read many websites on creating the MSI which I have followed and I think I have created it correctly, but does anyone know if Adobe publish a prebuilt MSI for the latest version of the patch or update that I can use ?
Thanks for your help

The versioning policy and update path is well documented in the admin guide: Latest MSI + latest Q + latest OOC patch. Deployments must chain these in the right order to succeed. Since the most common workflow for admins is to install the base MSI and then update as dot releases appear, that's the team's focus. Quarterlies are made cumulative to the last MSI to simplify updates.
However, a full MSI is occasionally released. Those are identified by the second number being incremented. For 11.x, there is no 11.1 yet.
Why don't you look at a bootstrapper deployment?:

  • MSI installer for the latest Adobe Reader XI releases

Hey. I had a bad problem in installing Adobe Reader XI. I checked the forums and I read this topic "http://forums.adobe.com/message/5230859" which was really helpful. But the real program is that the MSI package is only aviable for the 11.0.00 version and as you all know the 11.0.03 is already released and I want it but it doesn't have a MSI package, neither does 11.0.02 version or 11.0.01 version so where can I find the MSI packages for the latest releases.
    Adobe Reader 11.0.00 version "ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/"
    Adobe Reader 11.0.01 version "ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.01/en_US/"
    Adobe Reader 11.0.02 version "ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.02/en_US/"
    Adobe Reader 11.0.03 version "ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.03/en_US/"
Please help or do I have to stick with the 11.0.00 version for ever ?

There are no MSI installers for minor releases, only MSP patches (and EXE installers).

  • Having problems updating Adobe Reader MSI from 10.1.0 to 10.1.4

    Hello,
I have read online that you can slipstream the adobe update into the original 10.1.0 installer.  Here is what I have tried.
I have downloaded the original 10.1.0 MSI file and ran msiexec /a C:\Adobe\Downloads\AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi, which during the admin install, I have installed it into C:\Adobe\AIP
I then run msiexec /a C:\Adobe\AIP\AcroRead.msi /p C:\Adobe\Downloads\AdbeRdrUpd1014.msp, and get the following error message:
This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a  valid Windows Installer package.
If I double click on the MSP file in Windows Explorer, it opens it up and wants to update adobe reader, however I can not get this to work.
Any assistance is appreciated, I don't know what I am doing wrong, tried on two different systems one 32bit and 64bit.
    Craig.

When I say deploy I mean deploy to all my PC's in my domain (350+) via AD.
    What I normally do is:
    1. Extract the Adrobe reader .msi package from the .exe by running the following command:
    E:\AdobeRdr\1014_original\AdbeRdr1014_en_US.exe -nos_o"E:\AdobeRdr\1014_original\Extraction\AdbeRdr1014_en_US" -nos_ne
    2. Emulate a Network install of the .msi package by running the following command:
    msiexec /a E:\AdobeRdr\1014_original\Extraction\AdbeRdr1014_en_US\AcroRead.msi
    3. Emulate a Network install of the .msi packing and apply the update by running the following command:
    msiexec /a E:\AdobeRdr\1014_original\1014wUpdate\AcroRead.msi /p E:\AdobeRdr\1014_original\Extraction\AdbeRdr1014_en_US\AdbeRdrUpd1014.msp
    4. Use the Adobe customisation tool to create a custom .mst file
    5. Copy the extracted folders, .msi, .mst and setup.ini to the \\SHARE
Is there a better way of doing this?
What it looks like to me is Adobe have not updated the product code on the install files, so when I install the .msi it sees the existing one matches the update and generates the error.
I look forward to you feed back reguring the above.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.03 - tools pane opens automatically by default

I just deployed the latest adobe reader MSI patch through group policy, but in this patch, the tools pane is opened automatically. Most of my users don't use it, much less know how to close it. The problem is that there is no typical "close", "x" or ">>" icon, so users are unaware that they can close it. Even I had to think a moment on how to actually close it (by clicking the "tools" button").
The group policy ADM template doesn't offer an option to close this pane.
Is there another method that I can use which closes (or disables) the tools pane by default? Possibly a registry setting of some sort? An MST setting?

    Found a solution:
Using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI, open the MSI, go to the section named "online and adobe online services" and tick the box that says "disable the tools pane in reader".
Then, generate the transform. If it complains about missing a setup.ini file, just create a blank text file named setup.ini in the same folder as the MSI file.
After that, deploy using GPO, and make sure to include the MST modification file.

  • Adobe Reader 11 Print Dialog

I work at a public library and am in charge of updating and maintaining our technology. We have over 20 public access computers that are open to our patrons which they can use to print documents, amongst other things. We have a Xerox Workcentre 6605 and use software from Librarica to control printing. Patrons need to print from their computer, click a confirmation box, and then ask the staff at the desk to release the prints from our manager computer.
Ever since updating to Reader 11, I occasionally see a print dialog pop up when printing a PDF that says the following:
"The default settings in Adobe Reader 11 may cause a color shift when printing PDF files. In addition, some black and white PDF documents may be printed using color and black inks and may be billed as color pages.
Before you continue printing, Xerox recommends that you change Reader 11 to allow the printer to manage colors.
To change the Reader 11 setting, close this dialog box, click the 'Advanced' button at the bottom of the Print window, and check the option 'Let printer determine colors.'"
There are a couple of options available to our patrons at this point, including "Send my document anyway" and "Don't show this message again." Whatever option is set as the default sends documents as blank pages. Most of our patrons don't know what option to pick so they go with the default, confirm their print which says ZERO PAGES, and then log off the computer. When they come tell me they sent a print, I have to tell them that it didn't go through properly and they have to try again.
I can't select the "Don't show this message again" option because we have DeepFreeze installed on all the computers so that any changes made to the computer by patrons are erased when the computer is shut down for the night...so the "Don't show this message again" option would revert back.
This is really driving me nutty. I went into the Advanced settings today with a test PDF and it looks like you have to check the option 'Let printer determine colors' for every PDF.  I have also tried recreating the problem on my own but never get the dialog. Help!!

I don't know DeepFreeze, but I imagine it's something that restores a clean disk image at regular intervals.
I also imagine that this DeepFreeze image is renewed when OS or software updates are installed.  I suggest that you change the options you mentioned ("Let printer determine colors", "Don't show this message again") after a security update to Adobe Reader is released later this week.  Let these changes go into the new DeepFreeze image, and you should be fine.

  • Missing Adobe Reader and QuickOffice (Nokia 700)

I recently had to do a "full factory reset" on my Nokia 700 but since then I seem to have lost both the
Adobe Reader and QuickOffice. Both were working before the reset and I did a full Nokia Suite backup
    and restore after the reset.
In an attempt to restore the two missing functions I've re-installed the software and searched the store,
    all to no avail.
Any suggestions about how to get them back?

  • Adobe Reader 9.3 supports PDF/A-3b structure?

Adobe Reader 9.3 don't recognize the standard PDF/A-3B (ISO 19005-3).
However if I open the file with version XI, Acrobat Reader validate the the file accord a PDF/A-3b standard.
Do Adobe Reader 9.3 support PDF/A-3b structure? And PAdES digital signature?.
    Thanks.

    Adobe Reader 9, released 2008
    PDF/A-3, released 2012.
It should be no suprise that the file is not specially recognised.
No version of Adobe Reader validates PDF/A. They just display files according to a flag in the file.
A PDF/A-3 file will display in Reader 9 without errors, but may not follow the strict display rules of PDF/A if these are important to you.

  • URGENT :: Problem in webservice in Adobe Reader 8

Hi, I am facing a problem in my forms, i create a form in Form Designer with web services in drop downs, there are no workflow for these form only for filling and printing purpose, and i test the forms in Adobe Reader 7 and its working perfectly, but now with new version of Adobe Reader 8 released the problem is occurred in the drop down, that the web service for these drop down are not working.
please help me quickly its an emergency.
    Thank you

You could try asking one of the users to run Help > Repair
installation, in case the problem is that their setup is damaged. This
could have happened, for example, if they uninstalled Reader 7 AFTER
    Reader 8.
If this works, you could trap the exception and put out an error
saying to the user that maybe running Help > Repair installation in
Adobe Reader will fix the problem.

  • Deploying Adobe Reader using Microsoft Deployment tool 2013?

Is there a .msi file that I can edit rather than have to create on using the Customization Wizrd XI?
I know this is off subject, but what do I edit in the flash player .msi file not to install mcafee?

You can download the Adobe Reader MSI installers from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/
The Flash Player MSI files (like the Adobe Reader MSI) do not contains any bundled 3rd-party software.

  • Which Base MSI to Use For Adobe Reader Updates?

I am new to creating AIP for Adobe Reader and am wondering which MSI to use as the base installer.  From what I understand, to create an AIP for Adobe Reader 11.0.07, I need to first have the AIP created for 11.0.00 and then patch it using the 11.0.07 MSP file.  (the 11.0.07 MSP file contains all other updates found in earlier quarterly releases and OOC releases)
So my question is on obtaining the correct MSI file for creating the original 11.0.00 AIP.  My options for obtaining the correct MSI are threefold:
The original 11.0.00 MSI (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi) (only one msiexec comand required)
The original 11.0.00 EXE (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.exe) (extract the files from the exe, then run the msiexec command)
The new 11.0.07 EXE (AdbeRdr11007_en_US.exe) (same as previous item)
I noticed that the MSIs in the AIP are named "AcroRead.msi" when extracted from an EXE file (#2 and #3 above) but named "AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi" when extracted from the original MSI file (#1 above).  Are all three of these resulting MSIs the "same"?  They all have different MD5 hashes but otherwise appear identical.
Once I have the original AIP for 11.0.00 backed up, I should be able to reuse it when new quarterly releases come out.  Can anyone help please?  What is recommended?  Thanks!

No one answered, but I think probably all can be used.  I made a script that will automatically extract and build the AIP from the most recent EXE file provided by Adobe.  Why Adobe doesn't create a new MSI themselves is beyond me.

  • Is there Full Version MSI installer package for the last version of Adobe Reader?

Is there Full Version MSI installer package for the last version of Adobe Reader?
    Where can we find it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The full MSI installer for the latest 9.5.0 release is available at:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.5.0/en_US/AdbeRdr950_en_US.msi
However, there is no full MSI installer available for the latest 10.1.2 release, since it wasn't a single dot release. The Reader 10.1.2 installer is available as a MSP file which can be applied onto the Reader 10.1.0 or Reader 10.1.1 installation.
You could also create an AIP for the latest 10.1.2 release, which would give you a single MSI installer along with the extracted files. Please have a look at the below mentioned document for more details on the same:

    Hope this helps.

  • Where do I get the free version of Adobe Reader 10.1.1 MSI file?

Today, I was given the task of deploying the application to 800 computers. Is there a link I could download the MSI? Here is a copy of the e-mail I receive when I sign up for the distribution file.

    Hi,
Whilst there is no MSI available for Reader 10.1.1, you can get the MSI for Reader 10.1.0 from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/en_US/
The Reader 10.1.1 update is available from: http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.1/misc/AdbeRdrUpd1011.msp
To Deploy Reader 10.1.1, you can either:
    1. Create an AIP for Reader 10.1.1 and deploy it across all the systems on your domain via GPO. This would require that you crate a new AIP for each update that is released and then push the same across your domain.
    2. Push the MSI as it is across all the systems on your domain (via SCCM/SCUP or SMS) and then deploy the 10.1.1 update. You can do the same for any new update released by Adobe for Reader henceforth.
For mmore information on the same please refer to:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/Acrobat_Enterprise_Administration.pdf
    Hope this helps

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.14 msi in Dutch (nl-NL)

For distribution we use AD, so i need the msi package for Abode Reader 10.1.14. Unfortunately the isn't a nl_NL folder on the FTP site:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.4/
Will that come later? Or do i have to do something else te get it?

    Hi Carlo,
There arent any MSI packages released for the 10.1.4 release. The last MSI released for Adobe Reader 10.x.x was with 10.1.0.
However, you can create the MSI package for Reader by creating an AIP for Reader 10.1.4 by following the below commands:
    1. Download the Dutch Reader 10.1,0 MSI from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/nl_NL/
    2. Download the Reader 10.1.4 patch from: http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.4/misc/AdbeRdrUpd1014.msp
    3. Run the following command:
msiexec /a <path to the Reader MSI downloaded in Step 1>
When prompted, provide a destination directory where you want to create the AIP (say c:\AIP)
    4. msiexec /a <path of the msi in the AIP directory just created i.e. C:\AIP\AdbeRdr1010_nl_NL.msi> /p <path to the Reader 10.1.4 patch downloaded in step 2>
This should create the AIP for the 10.1.4 release, which you can deploy via AD to all the systems registered in your domain.
    Hope this helps.
