Adobe Reader MUI patches

i can see Adobe released 11.0.02 and 10.1.6 patches for Adobe Reader, but I don't see any MUI patches
When will those MUI patches be released?

We did not followed the upgrade path properly. We just did not read the release notes exact enough... . The MUI patches of 10.1.5 and before could be applied directly to the 10.0.0 installation. 10.1.6 however requires 10.1.5 to be installed before. Furhtermore, a separate MUI patch seems not to be necessary any longer. Once we fixed our upgrade path, everything works fine.
Upgrade Patch for MUI Version: 10.x (MSI) -> 10.1.5 (MSP) -> 10.1.6 (MSP)

  • What is Adobe Reader MUI 9.3.4 update - multiple languages

I have a choice of 2 downloads from Adobe
Adobe Reader MUI 9.3.4 update - multiple languages and
Adobe Reader 9.3.4 update - multiple languages
Both are the same size and date.
What is the difference between these?

Adobe Reader MUI is Adobe's Multilingual User Interface version. This product is capable of installing any combination of supported languages. So, for example, you can install French, German, and Spanish simultaneously and then have the capability toswitch among those languages within Adobe Reader. The user interface changes to the appropriate language on the fly.
So if you have MUI Reader 9.3.3(and NOT normal Reader) in your machine and want to update it to 9.3.4 choose Adobe Reader MUI 9.3.4 update - multiple languages otherwise choose Adobe Reader 9.3.4 update - multiple languages (for normal Reader).
To check what you have in your machine, Goto Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and check the entry of Adobe Reader.
For MUI reader it will be
    "Adobe Reader 9.3.3 MUI"
and for normal Reader it will be
    "Adobe Reader 9.3.3"

  • Uninstall adobe reader mui and keep adobe reader

will i be able to view pdf file if i uninstall adobe reader x mui(because it consumes a lot of space) and just keep adobe reader x

After you uninstall the MUI version, just install the standard version of your language; download it from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe Reader MUI: download & deploy

    Hello,
I need to deploy Adobe Reader X in 2 languages (EN+FR) on some computers. With Reader 9, I could install Reader EN and Reader FR side-by-side on the same computer and then switch the UI using Preferences. With X version I can't install more than one language on the same computer, but I read about the MUI version, which could fit my need.
Problem is, I can't find where to download this MUI version. When I go to the download page, I can download the Reader in all possible languages but no "MUI" appears in the list.
So, should I download and install EN, then apply the MUI? If so, where could I get this MUI?
    thanks!

I found the MUI version on Adobe's FTP site. I wonder why it is not among the choices in the standard download page...
Now, it seems to be a package containing both core and extra languages (not what I'd call a "MUI" pack), and it also seems you cannot choose which extra languages to install and which ones not to. If anyone knows how to do this, that would be nice, even if, to be honest, the size of this MUI package is very similar to standard EN's - this means you wouldn't have a real gain removing some languages...

  • Adobe Reader MUI for Enterprise Deployments

    Hello,
for the past few years I have obtained a license to download and deploy Adobe Reader within our multinational organization and have been able to download the MUI version, which obviously makes life easier than needing to download and install individual language versions.
I have now received a new license and the link only allows me to download the latest security update, in this case 11.0.4, as an individual language installation.
Why is it not possible to allow downloading of the 11 version in MUI form and then the single MUI language update, as was previously the case?
An example is with version 10 I was able to install the MUI version + the MUI version update to 10.0.2.
    Thanks

You can find the MUI full installer, as well as the MUI updates on http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows
Additionally you can find anything that is released for Adobe Reader on the Adobe FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/

  • Reader 10.0.0 MUI Patch Upgrade Sequence

I wanted to confirm my understanding of the Reader MUI patch sequence is correct.Lets say I have a bootstrapper installation that contains the  base version 10.0.0.  My understanding is that in order to get Reader to the most current version I need to install the 10.1.0 patch and then the 10.1.3 patch. For example 10.0.0>10.1.0>10.1.3. Are these the correct patches that need to be installed to ensure Reader is fully up to date?

I didnt really have to pick apart the 10.1 MUI download, the only download available is a bootstrapper that looks like its just a base 10.0 install that includes the 10.1 mui patch. The setup.ini in that download contains "PATCH=AdbeRdrUpd1010_MUI.msp"  and I added the 10.1.3 mui patch to that line (aka chained them together) "PATCH=AdbeRdrUpd1010_MUI.msp;AdbeRdrUpd1013_MUI.msp". If this isnt supported then what is the supported method for installing the most current up to date version of Reader MUI? The only other option I can think of is manually executing AdbeRdrUpd1013_MUI.msp  after the bootstrapper completes, which I believe is pretty much the same thing.
Here are the details of the MUI download which may help explain what I mean when I say the 10.1 MUI installation isnt just an MSI installation, its a bootstrapper that installs the 10.1 MUI msp:

    EDIT:Adding another question
Here is something else that is throwing me off about the MUI version. The localized 10.1.3 update requires 10.1 or later to be installed, however the MUI 10.1.3 update only requires 10.0 to be installed. Does this mean the 10.1.3 MUI update is cumulative all the way to 10.0? I know the documentation states that the localized version updates are cumulative to the last msi (major)  but it says nothing about MUI updates (that I can find). Even on the non-ftp download pages it states different requirements for MUI and non MUI (see below). If the 10.1.3 MUI update is not cumulative all the way back to the base 10.0, then shouldnt there be a requirement for 10.1 MUI to be installed prior?
    10.1.3 MUI: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5359
    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
This update requires that Adobe Reader 10.0 MUI or later is installed on your system.

    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Adobe Reader XI 11.0.09 Update broke image signatures

I allowed my computer to download and install the latest Adobe Reader XI update, to version 11.0.09. Since doing that, I can no longer sign PDFs. Adobe Reader "forgot" my signature, and prompts me to create a new one, but gives me an error when I try to do so.
The steps I take: I click on Fill & Sign at the upper right. From the Fill & Sign Tools pane, I choose Place Signature. Since Adobe Reader has forgotten my signature, I am prompted by a dialog box that starts with How would you like to create your signature?. I tick the Use an image radio button, then click the Browse... button that appears below it. I choose my signature, which happens to be a BMP file, and click the Open button. Adobe Reader then gives me an error message: This file cannot be used to create a signature. Please select a different file and try again.
I tried converting my BMP file to a TIFF file, but that didn't help.
I need to be able to sign PDF documents again. Is this a bug waiting for a fix, or is there a work-around?
I badly need this feature back again.

Hi, thanks for your prompt responses.
I am a bit perplexed. I take it that, although I have the latest Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10) installed with the latest update 32 and I can open it  and use it to read PDF's it is not the correct version for Vista ? As I said when I used the Firefox plug in check, which triggered this whole issue for me, and clicked the red button to update it took me to an Adobe update install page which only offered the 10.1.4 English UK for Windows download (Which you say is actually the correct version for Vista) but this did not complete because it said I have a more functional version already installed which I presume is the 11.0.10 version ?
Do I now need to download the Adobe Reader 'Full Download':  Adobe Reader MUI 10.1 - Multiple Languages version 146.67 MB 6/8/2011 or just the Adobe Reader 10.1.4 update, although I may find that I just get the same result as I do using the Firefox update button, it does not complete and I am informed I have a more 'functional version' installed ? Again there are two options for these Updates on the Adobe download page 'All languages' and 'Multi lingual (MUI) installer' and I am not sure what the difference is or , more important, which to use  and the Help>About Adobe Reader offers no clue.
Further advice appreciated as I am a bit flummoxed ! Thanks  .

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.03 - tools pane opens automatically by default

I just deployed the latest adobe reader MSI patch through group policy, but in this patch, the tools pane is opened automatically. Most of my users don't use it, much less know how to close it. The problem is that there is no typical "close", "x" or ">>" icon, so users are unaware that they can close it. Even I had to think a moment on how to actually close it (by clicking the "tools" button").
The group policy ADM template doesn't offer an option to close this pane.
Is there another method that I can use which closes (or disables) the tools pane by default? Possibly a registry setting of some sort? An MST setting?

    Found a solution:
Using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI, open the MSI, go to the section named "online and adobe online services" and tick the box that says "disable the tools pane in reader".
Then, generate the transform. If it complains about missing a setup.ini file, just create a blank text file named setup.ini in the same folder as the MSI file.
After that, deploy using GPO, and make sure to include the MST modification file.

  • Error: 2330. Error getting file attributes: C:\Program Files (x86)\adobe\reader 9.0\reader\amt. GetL

    Hi!
I got this error while trying to uninstall my Adobe Reader MUI 9.5.4.: "Error: 2330. Error getting file attributes: C:\Program Files (x86)\adobe\reader 9.0\reader\amt. GetLastError: 117". The message pops after a long long while.
I have to remove my Adobe Reader because whenever I try to open a pdf I get the error: "Adobe failed to load it's core DLL" (something like that). I want to remove and re-install adobe reader.
I ran TDSSKiller and nothing was found abnormal.
I checked the registry and everything seems fine.
I tried to repair/change the current Adobe Reader version and nothing happens.
I tried to install a newer version of Adobe reader but the installer freezes at 96%.
I'm using Win7. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Adobe Security Team provided a hotfix for this issue which will be included in the next quarterly release.
They also advised that the following registry value was required for the Trim:// url to function in Protected Mode:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown\cDefaultLaunchURLPerms]
    "tSchemePerms"=".....|trim:2"

    CoUnyot,
    Thanks for your post ...
Please Disable protected Mode .. Please find the below steps ":
Disable Protected Mode by going to Edit > Preferences > General and deselecting Enable Protected Mode at startup.
    Restart Reader.

  • Adobe Reader 11 MUI failing to install using transform and patch 11.0.10 via cmd/SCCM in one package

    Hello,
I have all the files, MST and the patch located in one folder. I am trying to use the following MSI command lines locally on my computer before I can attempt to deploy this via SCCM 2012. I am having issues either with the package not compatible or using /p and getting the MSIEXEC help window prompt. I've tried a few command lines:
    msiexec /i AcroRead.msi PATCH="AdbeRdrUpd11010_MUI.msp" TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst"
    msiexec /i AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd11010_MUI.msp TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst"
    msiexec /i AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst" /p AdbeRdrUpd11010_MUI.msp
Adding /qn on the end makes the install work silently when not attempting to include the patch, but fails to install it silently when only using the transform file that I have selected in the wizard to silently install.
We have 5 different versions from 8.0 through 10.0 in our environment of 3000 machines. Sadly this was not managed before...I can easily update our current 11.0 versions that range from 11 to 11.0.09 by only applying the patch to them but need to get the full install working for the 2500 machines I need to target.
I tried using the /a command which seems to work, but creates program files and common files folders inside my adobe folder on the desktop when executing it from the cmd. Am i suppose to package that folder all in one and then use the /i command to install adobe? I've been researching for a week but finally hit a wall where I dont think I am getting anywhere.
    Thank you in advance,
    Kevin

I have almost answered my own question as I just came across this link
    https://it-god.co.uk/deploy-adobe-reader-xi-11-0-10-with-sccm-2012/
This is for the plain reader version, but we use MUI now (due to other languages required in our environmet). I get to the part where it asks to apply the patch to the AIP folder but it fails.
    msiexec /p AdbeRdrUpd11010.msp /a C:\Reader\11.0.10\AcroRead.msi
I changed this to account for the MUI naming,
    msiexec /p AdbeRdrUpd11010_MUI.msp /a C:\Reader\11.0.10\AcroRead.msi
But I get the windows prompt that says this package can not be opened, please verify. I ensured that both the patch and base install were MUI versions, and i downloaded fresh copies of each. I also unblocked the patch so that it can run. No luck so far.
EDIT: Using another guide i found the command line (modified the path to my location) and this worked,
    msiexec /a C:\adobe\Reader\11.0.10\AcroRead.msi /qb /p AdbeRdrUpd11010_MUI.msp TARGETDIR=C:\adobe\Reader\11.0.10\

  • When will we get the Adobe Reader 11.0.05 MUI patch?

    Hi,
We are currently trying to set up an automated installation of Adobe Reader 11 on our SCCM system, using the MUI installer. We have created corresponding MSP and MST files, and it all works fine.
Our problem is that the latest MUI patch is 11.0.04, and not 11.0.05, meaning that we do not get the latest security updates. The 11.0.04 patch dates back to late September last year, so we kinda expected the 11.0.05 to have arrived by now.
    Any release dates?
    Best regards, Jan.

    Hi,
We tried the installations from scratch today, but still encounter problems.
    This is what we do:
    1. msiexec /i AdbeRdr11000_mui_std\acroread.msi TRANSFORMS=acroread.mst /passive
    2. msiexec /update AdbeRdrUpd11004_MUI.msp /passive
    3. msiexec /update AcrobatSecUpd11005.msp /passive
Items 1 and 2 work fine. The installation conforms to the MST file and the version ends up being 11.0.04 MUI. When we try to run the security update, it fails. I only have a Danish version of the text, but it basically says it cannot install because the program being updated is a wrong version or cannot be found.
    Any clues?
    Best regards, Jan.

  • Silent install of 10.1.0 (MUI) Reader and patches leaves teh previous Version in Add remove prog

    Hello,
having major issues with a silent install to 3300 users.
I Have a vb script that runs in SCCM to install reader 10.1.0 (MUI) and the increnetal patches for 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 both MUI.  I have created a transform to not use a desktop icon, turn on protect mode and supress the eula.  3 problems.
    1.  The script searches for old versions and completly install the mui version over all with the following command line:
    "AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroRead.mst PATCH="AdbeRdrUpd1011_MUI.msp; AdbeRdrUpd1012_MUI.msp" ALLUSERS=1 LANG_ID=1033 PRODUCTLANGUAGE=1033 LEAVE_PDFOWNERSHIP=YES REMOVE_PREVIOUS=YES EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES /qn /norestart /LOG c:\progra~1\Adobe\AdobeReader10.1.2.log"

Problems on about 100 computers so far:
    1.  If the system had 10.1.1  and not the 10.1.1 MUI and 10.1.2 MUI stay in Add Remove Programs
    2. Systems that get the full uninstall and reinstall  even if adobe is closed and browser is closed and user can not read files from the web or email after the complete install to 10.1.2 mui.  Adobe works locally.
    3.  Some systems appear to upgrade fine.
    HELP PLEASE!!!!

With Administrative Installation Points I've always found it best to remove the old version first with a script using [msiexec.exe /x {APPLICATION_GUID} ] before installing the new AIP.  You should read the documentation about 10.x AIP though.

Is it possible to create an msi package if the product you are upgrading is Multilingual (MUI) and the update(msp) you are applying is not Multilingual (MUI) but "All languages"?

Please download the latest Adobe Reader patch from the below mentioned location, it will work with MUI installer.
