Adobe Reader PDF format

I have installed Adobe Reader etc. Whenever I try to open a document in PDF format my computer shuts down..I have tried to remove Reader (to reinstall) but half way through my computer shuts off. It sounds like avirus, however, the only time my computer shuts down is when I'm trying to open a PDF document. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd try to remove Reader. First try to remove reader using the control
panels. If that fails, then try the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool.
Then try to re-install or better yet install Reader 9.

Opening Adobe Reader PDF

Four months ago I wrote that when I tried to open Adobe Reader PDF for any reason, Photoshop Elements 4 took over and Adobe Reader was opened in PE4.
I was given advice toopen and check in a word document my file association and to "tell" the system to open in Adobe PDF format. I did that but whenever I open Adobe PDF for any reason (the last occasion was to download my travel insurance from Insure and Go), PE4 opens and Adobe PDF has to be printed from inside that programme. Nothing has changed.
I want Adobe Reader PDF to open in its own format, and I want to stop Adobe Reader PDF being opened inside the PE4 programme. How do I do it?
I do not want to get rid of PE4 as I use it extensively for photography. But I want it to stay with photos and stop opening for documents like my travel insurance. Thank you. Rod Colyer

I am using Adobe 8 Professional and working on Windows XP. I have been facing an issue lately with opening files in a dual-monitor environment. All my Adobe Reader (PDF) files are opening only in the secondary monitor by default. There are times when I work only in one monitor and when I open a PDF file and want to have a look at it, I have to connect another monitor to view that file, since this file is open in the secondary monitor. It is very disappointing with such instances happening with Adobe (a leading organization). Can you please help so that the Adobe Reader files open in the primary monitor by default?

Problem printing from Adobe Reader .pdf with Brother printer from a Mac

I have a macbook pro with Intel Core i7 and OS X Yosemite and Brother MFC-7360N printer connected by wifi. My problem is that I can print everything from all programs except from the Adobe Reader .pdf that do I print from my Preview files .. The error I get is "Error filter". Does anyone know where can originate the error and how to fix it?

With another O.S. in another computer is OK.

Don't know that you can with Reader. You should ask in the Reader forum that is linked at the top of this forum. In Acrobat it is easy, but Reader does not have the editing capabilities of Acrobat and it is probably not directly possible.

Adobe Reader X - Format lost during Control+C, Control+V

I use Adobe Reader X (version 10.1.3.23) to read my manuals in PDF format.
Here is an example of those manuals :

Whenever i try to copy some code or text from those manuals like the results
of commands on Example 3-16 or Example 3-17 in page 37, the format is
completeted messsed up.
By a simple copy and paste, something that should come this way :

and then i need to spend a lot of time fixing and formating.
When this is done thru the PDF XCHANGE VIEWER, things works like a charm and
all formatting and spaces and character are preserved but unfortunatelly
my company doesn't allow me to use the PDF XCHANGE VIEWER.
Is there any way to fix the Acrobat Reader X ?

Adobe reader & pdf browser plugin 2 license

i've got a macbookpro, & my class lectures are presented in pdf format. every time i go to open 1, i get a popup that i need to order a pdf browser plugin 2 license. it let me access my pdfs last semester by requesting register later, but this semester it's not letting me read them. nothing i've found for adobe reader shows that i need this. how do i get rid of this popup so that i can read my lecture notes?

You must have used some file that was created with that program. It is completely unnecessary for Safari or Firefox. If you have installed Adobe Reader, it should have put a plug-in into your Internet plug-ins. Find a pdf file in Finder, then select it, then right click, get info. In the window, make sure that the pdf file opens with Adobe Reader, then click on Change All. It tells the Mac to handle all pdf files with Adobe Reader, and IF you have the plug-in, you should be able to read it.

Adobe reader/pdf not transfering correctly

when i scan to emal back any type of PDF file from
printer to LP, it opens up for
view, but as a solid Grey blank screen.
I went to ADD or REMOVE in hoping to CHANGE to make it work
and ended up stopping.

Are you sure that Firefox isn't using the integrated PDF viewer (pdfjs)?
Current Firefox versions have enabled a new build-in PDF Viewer and that viewer doesn't have all the features that the Adobe Reader has.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer and use the Adobe Reader instead.

Currently as you can see I have commented out GUI_DOWNLOAD Function Module, But it works perfect when I try to Download file to Local Desktop.
But when I try to pass the same Contents to Application server file and then try to open it by downloading file then it opens BLANK pdf file.
As per requirements I should be able to write the file correctly on Application server and If I dowload it from there it should open PDF file correctly.
Let me know if you require further details about the issue.

Een vraag over Adobe Reader. Ik wil graag dat mijn examenkandidaten een pdf kunnen openen maar dan niet kunnen opslaan dus de menubalk en de werkbalk mogen niet zichtbaar zijn. Hoe doe ik dit? Regel ik dit op het moment dat ik zelf de PDF maak door dat te beveiligen? Of kan ik het in Adobe reader zo instellen dat als de PDF wordt opgevraagd de menubalk en werkbalk niet te zien is?

Error message in an Adobe Reader PDF document

"There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (0:104)."
We have exited, reopened the file many times and have rebooted many time, but get same error. The PDF file continues to refuse to download. Any ideas on how to fix?
Also, Adobe Reader will not update to my laptop that is running Win7.

If you are seeing that when trying to download and view a PDF in a Browser, then you need to open the Adobe Reader program from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement. If you are getting that when trying to open the Adobe Reader application, then you should ask Adobe.

Need help with how to call VB proceedure to open Adobe reader pdf file from differnt folders

Using MS access 9.0.2720 visual basic proceedure to call Adobe reader to open a specific flle from a folder on my c drive.
useing the shell command , shellexecute is not available in the version I'm using.
I can call the Reader with this code: call shell "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" and it will open reader, but
I can't seem to get it to open a specific PDF file, I tried

I am getting the exact error trying to down load bank statements but when I go to 'uncheck' the "Do not save encrypted page to disk" box it is ALREADY unchecked. Can't get my bank statements down loaded. Any other suggestions. Need help quick.
