Adobe reader problem

I am running a mac version 10.7.2 and I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader on 10/11/2011. The updater inidcates there are no updates availble for me at this time.
I have PDF file I've created that I can open but when I try to email it as an attachment using mac mail I get a message stating that my PDF viewer may not be able to display this type document so I can''t send it.
The document doesn't have any security but it does have retrictions on document assembly, page extraction, commenting, and creating templates.
The document was produced using Adobe LiveCycle designer ES 9.0 and uses PDF version Acrobat 8.x
What is the problem?

Whislt not wanting to advocate a paid for application Picsel Smart Office is worthy of looking at, as an alternative to Adobe Reader LE.

Adober reader problem with printing a PDF

I instaleed Adobe reader on a new computer w/o problem. I could open a view documents. When I go to print I get a message that says: "Adober Reader has stopped working" I can then check one of two boxes: 1. Checkonline for a solution later and close program or 2. "Close program"
I'm baffeled - all i want to do is print a PDF doc??

Adobe reader problem on viewing PDF file created by crystal report

I have a VB6 application to export the PDF file by using crystal report 9. However, when I viewed the PDF file under Adobe reader 8, I have a following message when I hit the page down key.
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly.
Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."
After hit okay, this message will be gone and I can see the PDF file without problem. However, I don't have this issue when using Adobe reader 5 or 6 version.
If I crystal report 11 version to export the PDF, everything works fine also but our production machine can only use crystal report version 9, not 11.
Anyone have idea?? Thx!

Sounds as if there is a bug in the older version of Crystal reports.

Adobie Reader problem using OS Vista and IE9

Operating System = Windows Vista
Browser = IE9
Adobe Reader long use without problems.
Previously click on link within web page and view text.
Now only white space and no text.
Deleted and reinstalled Adobe Reader with version 10.1.3.
Problem remains.
Works appropriately on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Would appreciate any suggestions.

Does that happen with every online PDF, e.g. http://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_ReleaseNote_10.1.3.pdf ?

Adobe Reader Problem with Accents

I have a pdf document which Reader shows all the accented text incorrectly. It makes the whold document look very bad... I think these characters are in Unicode and Reader is mis-reading them.

Preferences > International > choose language at application startup (but always comes up in English after restarting AR)

I've had a similar problem on Adobe Reader X and I'm not sure if this is the same with 9.4.6 but here's how I fixed it.
Go to Preferences>International>Same as the operating system
This enables you to use the language your keyboard is set to.
If you don't have the keyboard for the language you want and you have Windows, you can right-click the taskbar and go Toolbars>Language Bar. If the toolbar appears on the taskbar, select the little triangle (Options) at the bottom right and go to Settings>Add. From there you should be able to add your language from the list (i.e. French>Keyboard: French) and switch to it from the Language bar by clicking on the language name abbreviation and selecting it from the list.

Javascript Adobe Reader problem in some linux distributions

Adobe Reader doesn't execute initial javascript code of 3D scene in pdf document. With friends we've tested several linux distributions, namely CentOS, Ubuntu, Arch Linux, Mandriva, OpenSUSE. Also several Adobe Reader versions like 9.4.6 or 9.1. No luck. For some reason though, it works fine in Fedora (with exactly the same Adobe Reader). Here is an example pdf for test: http://www.2shared.com/document/LIbyWm_ … _dice.html . Just open the mysterious_dice.pdf and you should see a rotating dice. If you dont, javascript wasn't executed properly (it should be easy to check in Windows 7/XP or Fedora).
We thought that something is wrong in Reader settings (like disabled javascript), but javascript was always allowed. Then that maybe it is linux Adobe Reader bug, but again, why does it work in Fedora? So maybe some package(s) or something.
Another example is the Asymptote application, which uses javascript at the beginning for some scene settings (lights, camera position, etc) and especially with orthographic projection this problem shows up. More about this here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/asympto … ic/4021157.
Any idea what might be wrong with this? I will just add that javascript later on works, only the initial code is ignored. Thanks for any suggestion.

Interesting, just to be sure, was your dice spinning around? If it was, then it really works. My friend with Arch i686 just tried it with Adobe Reader 9.4.2, same settings and the dice was static. He provided also screenshot to show how it looks on his system together with some info:

Mac OX Adobe reader problems

the most obvious question until now I think is the delay manipulating of zoom in and out, which means it could not zoom in and out smoothly compare to the previous version.!!
How can I solve this problem???

AND FINALLY, NOW OPEN DISK UTILITY AND DO A PERMISSIONS REPAIR.
This should be the permanent repair. It made mine like brand new! And remember, the Re-starts and the Disk Permissions Repairs should be tried in sequence from above though considering different running systems, third party software, etc, .... well e-mail back if the above does not work.

Slight correction:

All of a sudden when adobe reader is utilized the logo comes up and below is 4 lines of asian writing and everything stops. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times to no a vale, any ideas?

Most likely you are trying to view an online PDF on Mac OS, and you are getting the following message in Japanese (I don't know it is in Japanese, but I know it has happened to others before):
Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement then quit and relaunch the browser.
Do this, and the message will go away.

5233 adobe reader problem!!!!

Hey i just updated the firmware of 5233 and adobe reader doesn't installs!!
I tried everthng,even downloaded it from the official site but the installation doesn't work out!!
Everything works fine but at last it give a certificate error!!
What should i do??

Please answer following so that we can help you out..
1. Which Operating System are you on.
2. Which version of Reader or Acrobat are you using.
3. What is the error / warning you get when you carry on with your workflows.
4. What exactly are you unable to do : open a specific PDF , Open PDF's locally , Open Pdf's online
Ideally installation of Reader should not affect activities which do not involve Reader. Say opening internet explorer for general browsing or using your email client .

Accidently deleted Adobe Reader - Problems reinstalling

I accidently deleted Adobe Reader. I then downloaded Adobe Reader X (10.0.1). I thought it worked, but it does not show up in ALL PROGRAMS. I started over, and downloaded again. Adobe Download Manager returns the message "Error: Application already installed." I went to Add or Remove Programs, found Adobe Reader X (10.0.1), clicked Remove, and got the message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
I have WIndows XP Pro Version 2002, SP3
What to do?

Remove the corrupted installation with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459), then try the installation again.

Adobe Reader problem message; 'internal server error'; what does this mean?

My update didn't take so I uninstalled the Reader and installed it again. This is the error message I bgot after the installation:

Adobe Reader problem assist

I need assistance sorting out this problem - when I want to open certain pdf files the following message pops up
"the file is either not a supported file or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and was not correctly decoded)
Please advise as to how I can fix this.
