Adobe Reader stop constantly Win 7 x64

I have Windows 7 x64 bits with SP1.
I download the current and previous Adobe Reader X (version 10.1.12).
I cannot operate this program at all. Everytime I open a pdf document, within 10 seconds, the screen froze and dialog panel say this program stopped executing. I have to exit.
In fact, when I google "Windows 7 Adobe Reader stopped working" or "Windows 7 Adobe Reader X stopped working" there are hundreds of entries.
But no solution. Is this Adobe Reader software such unreliable pieces of software?
So, how do I view the pdf documents?

you might have a bad Reader install

you're missing plugins (by a large margin )
chk your c:\program files (x86)\Adobe\. .. \plugins
whats in there
do a disk repair // too make sure your disk isnt corrupted
from explorer | C: | properties | Tools | Error-checking | Check now | (do NOT chk 'recover bas sectors'!) | because its C:, you will be prompted to 'schedule Chkdsk 'at next boot' | yes you do
reboot
boot | have your disk chk for bad sectors at next boot
(the better way is to reboot in System Recovery | Command Prompt | do a CHKDK /F there, but you have to know to get there)
(above wont repair Reader (but chk plugins, who knows), so, then:)
go Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features
chk Adobe Reader X
choose "Change"
do:
"Repair installation errors in the program. This option fixes missing or corrupt files shortcuts registry etc .."
chk again: ReaderX | plugins there now?
if not
uninstall / reinstall
again chk presence of plugins

  • Trying to open pdf and Adobe Reader Stops Working...Please Help

Trying to open PDF and it keeps popping up that Adobe Reader Stopped Working.  And doesn't seem to find a solution to fix.  Has been going on for a couple days.  Can't access pdf files needed for my business.

With Reader XI I assume you mean 11.0.0; try updating to 11.0.06.
Also, can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

    Hi Ahmet,
Are you facing the issue with all the pdfs or any specific pdf?
Was it working fine for you before?
Try repairing Reader from the 'hlep' menu and check if that works.

  • How to unlock and remove comments in Adobe Reader X for WIN 7?

A while ago I left a comment in an adobe file and now I want to change it or remove it. The problem is that I can't do anything to the comment, because it is locked and it seems that I don't have the permission to do that. I run Win 7, 64bit.
When I select properties on the comment by right clicking on it in the Comment List on the right in the Properies window the Locked checkbox is empty, gray and unselectable. The fact that the Locked checkbox is empty should mean that the comment is not locked but there is an icon next to it that pictures a small lock. I am confused. Is it locked? Is it not? Is there anything I can do to remove or change this comment?
Next to the Locked checkbox is a Make Properties Default checkbox which is selectable but I believe unrelated to what I want to do. What do I do?

I do not know what causes this; I do not have any such problem on a very similar system.  But if I did have such a problem, I would
make sure the latest Adobe Reader version is installed
make sure all Windows updates are installed
check if there is a newer printer driver version available
see if temporarily disable AV would prevent the problem
    Sorry, no other ideas.

  • Adobe Reader Stops Responding

I have a Windows 7 64 bit system that has Adobe Reader 10.1.3 installed.   I can open a PDF file and view it, but if I try to open anothe PDF, the program stops responding and never recovers.
Additionally, if I just open the Reader software and try to open the Preferences, it behaves the same: it stops responding and never recovers.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but that did not change the behavior.  I uninstalled and installed version 9.5, but the behavior remains.
This problem occurs on every profile of the operating system and even in Windows SAFE MODE.
Has anyone resolved such a problem?

Solution found. By enabling a lockdown feature, we prevented Adobe from trying to muck about getting online. Actually NSA provides recommendations on how to lock down Adobe Reader, google "NSA recommendations for configuring Adobe Reader XI in a Windows Environment". We only used:
    HKLM\Software\Policies\Adobe\<product>\<version>\FeatureLockDown\cCloud
    bDisableADCFileStore                    REG_DWORD               Set to 1

  • Adobe Reader Stops Working

When I try to print using a PDF printer, I get an error message "Adobe Reader Has Stopped Working. Windows Is collecting more information about the problem". Any suggestions?

Did you resolve this problem?  I am having the very same problem.
I can open a pdf fine (using adobe reader 9) but when I try to print I get an error that adobe reader 9.4 has stopped working.

  • Adobe Reader stop working in Window vista

it happen every two days, The adobe reader that is currently install is Adobe Reader 10,
    Need help

  • Adobe Reader X Constantly Freezing up

Ever since I started using version X, it constantly locks up at least 90% of the time while trying to open a .pdf.  Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for Adobe to quit, other times I have to reboot my computer just to get out of the frozen program.  HELP!  I'm running Windows XP SP02.

I installed Adobe Reader X on 75+ workstations at our Corporate office, upgrading from Reader 9.2
Windows XP SP2, none of the users are local/domain administrators.
I am also sufferring from this issue and it has caused a pretty huge problem here- the Adobe screen will start to open the PDF, the window goes white, and then even ending the AcroRdr32.exe processes directly will not close the software. I even have to hard shut-off the PC's as restart/log off will not work.
    Possible Fix:
I thought I had identified a fix having to do with accepting the license agreement-
    * log on as an administrator and open up a PDF
    * accept the Adobe Reader X license agreement, if there is one
    * log back on as the user and try to open some PDF's
This worked for me on some clients for 1 day- but I am receiving reports that those same clients are running into the freezing issues again.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ADOBE. Considering moving to FoxIT.
I guess I am imaging the boxes again with an older Adobe version...

  • Adobe Reader stops working when trying to print

When I try to print something from Adobe Reader 9, I get a message saying that Adobe has stopped working. I un-installed the program, downloaded and re-installed it, but still get the same message. I am using a Medion PC running Vista, with 4GB memory. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the exact same problem, with complications. I have Adobe 8, which was I think a pirated copy put on my laptop when a local technician uninstalled and reinstalled Windows XP. It worked fine until recently. Suddenly it stopped printing for me -- same message that it can't find the printer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, which works fine for any other kind of document. I also tried installing Adobe 9. It said it couldn't uninstall Adobe 8 and so couldn't install. I couldn't delete Adobe 8 myself, either -- Windows message said that a certain patch was missing that it would need to proceed. So now I have found the same workaround mentioned above -- open the document in Word and print from there.
This could be a new problem in printer settings for Adobe, or the issue could lie with my copy -- which is probably pirated and which has never updated. I can't even get more than a blank page when I click on "Beyond Adobe Reader."
I'd be glad to start over with a fresh copy or a fix from Adobe, even if I had to pay for it. I would need the ability to delete the bad version 8 and an aborted version 9 so that I could start fresh and install. (Version 9 install now says that now it can't proceed because it has already half installed a version 9 -- which is, however, invisible when I look for it to get rid of it.) Help!
    I am stuck.

  • Installation of Adobe Reader Stops

I had issues with Adobe Reader so I ran the repair from the Control Panel which did not work then I uninstalled the program.  Now I am unable to reinstall the application as the installation stops before completion.  I went through the troubleshooting steps and am unable to resolve the issue.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am running Windows 8.1

    Hi smrflwr,
    1. What is the error that you are getting?
    2. Have you tried installing Acrobat Reader DC (http://get2.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/) after restarting your computer?
    3. Enable the MSI logging on your machine (How to Enable Microsoft Installer logging and Verbose logging to gather additional troubleshooting Information) and please share the latest MSI logs that are created while installing Acrobat Reader DC.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Reader stop while scrolling

    Hey and hello,
i don't know it is the right Fourm. There is an problem with an pdf file on Acrobat Reader 9 running on Vista and XP. I create an PDF document with Adobe Acrobat Standard with simple properties. When i start reading the pdf file on Mac OS Preview there is no problem, but when i start reading it with Acrobat Reader (on XP or Vista) there is one page where stop the scrolling process, after a while it's going on. But the stop is always on the same page.
I try to delete this special page and everthing is okay, it is strange. because there is only Text on the page. I don't know what can i do to find out the error.
    Any Ideas?
    Regards
    René

I had the same issue and this post was the first result on Google. After seeing no replies I immediately gave up searching and instead dropped into Adobe Reader's View menu and started tinkering.
    SOLUTION:
It turns out Adobe Reader changes some settings on installation if it detects certain hardware (eg. a touchscreen). In this case the offending option is 'Touch Mode.' To get to the option (in Adobe Reader Xl v11.0.07 on Windows 7) go to 'View'->'Show/Hide'->'Toolbar Items' and click on 'Touch Mode.' There's a checkbox next to it that is always checked on my system but clicking it does seem to toggle a vertical scrollbar in the bookmarks pane.
I have no idea why someone at Adobe decided it would be a good idea to disable the scrollbar at all, ever. It makes it impossible to navigate large PDFs like technical manuals and there's no notice at all to the user that settings have been "optimized" for a touch interface.
It would be nice of the program to ask before doing in the future. But instead the distinctions between malware and products like Adboe Reader (with all its many issues, vulnerabilities and shady behind-the-scenes operations) continues to blur year after year. I hope this helps someone else having the same issue and maybe someone from Adobe might read this and take my advice to heart.

  • Why has adobe reader 'stopped? '

What has happened to the cloud ? I am being told it has 'stopped', or to be precise the reader has stopped when I try to access my acrobat account? Have I missed something?
You see, I use a hudl tablet and had to exchange for new one as mine kept freezing. When I signed in to acrobat on the new tablet, that's when the trouble started. I am unable to make new files.

Is this the dialog you see?
It means that Reader for Android encountered a problem and could not complete the operation that you asked to do.
There are a couple of things you could try in attempt to resolve the issue with Acrobat.com.
Make sure that you have updated to the latest version of Reader for Android.  The latest version as of March 20, 2014 is 11.1.3.
Make sure that your Android device has internet access.  (Open a web browser and go to any web sites.)
In Reader, tap My Account in the home screen.
Tap SIGN OUT (at the upper right corner) to sign out.
Tap SIGN IN to sign in.
If you still have a problem,
    Go to Google Play.
    Find the Adobe Reader app.
Tap UNINSTALL to uninstall the app.
Tap INSTALL to re-install the app.
    Launch Reader.
Tap My Account in the home screen.
Tap SIGN IN to sign in.
If it still does not work, try rebooting (powering off & on) your Android device.
I'd also recommend visiting the Acrobat.com forum for help.

  • Adobe reader issue on Win 8.1

I keep having an issue with Adobe Reader in which I open a PDF document and I can't view the document, but the image shows on my previous opened PDF document.  Anyone know how to fix this issue?  Also, what's the latest or best Adobe Reader and link please?

I don't know why you can't view the document or why the previously opened document shows, but here's the link to the latest Adobe Reader:http://get.adobe.com/reader/
    Also try:
The Microsoft Excel file repair utility restores data from a corrupted workbooks and worksheets. And software exports information to Microsoft Excel director file later. Excel Repair Toolbox can save a recovered data into new XLSX files.

  • Adobe Reader stops me from opening PDF files I want to read.  I trashed Adobe Reader but I still can't get into some PDF's?

I can't understand when I try to open PDFs on a website, and even after trashing Adobe Reader, I am not allowed to read PDFs on web sites?

Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
