Adobe Reader Version Location

Question

I am using Adobe Director 11 to build an application which
contains PDFs published by our company. I am using an XTRA to
determine which version of Adobe Reader is installed on the
end-users computer- our PDFs require version 7 or higher. My
question is- where does Adobe store the version of Adobe Reader? In
the registry? If so where? Is this consistent with all versions of
Adobe Acrobat Reader?

If you know where the exe is for the acrobat reader, you can
use
BuddyAPI to get the file version of the exe itself.
put baFileVersion("c:\program files\adobe\acrobat
7.0\acrobat\acrobat.exe")
-- "7.0.8.2006051600"
You can use BuddyAPI's baFindApp() command to get the path to
the
program, but it will depend on the user actually having
acrobat
associated with PDF files...
put baFileVersion(baFindApp("pdf"))
-- "7.0.8.2006051600"
