Adobe reader warning for safari

I keep getting a warning that i need to download adobe reader for my safari browser. So what's the best way to do this?

Visit http://www.adobe.com and select "Adobe Reader" from the "Download" drop-down menu at the top of the page. It should offer you the specific version you need for the computer and browser you are running.

  • Best Adobe reader plugin for Safari or firefox .

    Hi Folks.
I am looking for the best plugin available for safari that will give me the functionality of adobe reader when viewing pdf documents using safari.
Am i doing something wrong but i download pdf's to the desktop, i ctrl+click on them and select 'Open With' i navigate to adobe reader and select 'always open with..'
Shouldn't that make Adobe Reader the default app for pdf's and not preview?
Is this functionality carried over to safari, as in what i want to do is when browsing the web with safari, click on a pdf and have it open in reader.
    Any help is appreciated.

If you have Adobe Reader installed, then open its preferences and select the option to install the Adobe Reader for Safari (under Internet preferences.)
To have Adobe Reader become the default reader for PDFs simply select any PDF file and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Set the default application to Adobe Reader then click on the Change All button.

  • Adobe Reader Plugins for Safari 5 on Snow Leopard

Our software uses Adobe Reader to open, edit, and save Pdf Forms.  Most of our customer base is on Windows but we now have some MAC users as well.  Everything works fine except using Safari 5 on Snow Leopard.  It appears as if the plug ins are not loading properly or at all when Reader 9 is installed.  When a user goes to open a PDF Form, nothing happens.
My personal Macbook which I have at the office, is Leopard with Safari 5 and when I download Reader 9, I can see the plugins in Safari and everthing works fine.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

On Snow Leopard 10.6, you need to run Safari in 32 bit mode to get the Adobe Reader Plugin to load and launch properly.
    To do this,
    1) exit Safari.
    2) in the Finder go to your Applications folder, select Safari and do File->Get Info
    3) Check 'Open in 32-bit mode' in the General pane of that dialog
    4) Relaunch Safari
    5) Under the Safari Help->Installed Plug-ins you should now see the Adobe Reader plugin support.
I am able to get Safari to open forms inline in Reader this way.  I am not able to get the Adobe Forms with Adobe Javascript running in this mode.  Any insight on how this might be done would be helpful.  It does work in the Standalone Reader, but so far no luck enabling it in the Safari plugin.

  • Keep getting error message Adobe reader plugin for safari

I keep getting an error message saying that Adobe REader has detected Missing Components that require repair. etc. Ask to select components I would like to repair but the message freezes solid and I can't even force quit it.
    Anyone else seen this?

    HI,
Launch Adobe Reader. From the Menu Bar click Help/Repair Adobe Reader Installation.
If you still have problems, go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the com.adobe.Reader.plist file to the Trash, then try the Help/Repair Adobe Reader Installation again.

I use Safari as my browser. When on a site and I click on a PDF file I get a black screen and a notice that "Adobe Reader blocked for this website". However, this does not happen if I use Firefox.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 3 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Adobe Reader Blocked in Safari

It's been a while, but ever since I upadated to Safari 7.0.1 (or maybe even the version earlier), I've been unable to open any PDF documents inside of Safari. When I click on a link on Google linked to a PDF document, a grey page shows up with the message "Adobe Reader blocked for this website" I tried clicking the message and a panel dropped down asking me whether I trust the website or not. But even after I clicked Trust and the page reloaded it self the PDF still doesn't show up.
Anyoen know how to get around this? I know Apple got rid of native support for many web applications because of security threat but there should be a way to put it back in right?
    Thanks,

    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked

  • Adobe reader blocked for this site

Since the transfer to OSX Mavericks it happens rather frequent that at opening a site page I get the message "adobe reader blocked for this site". I do not know if the installation of Adobe reader is required by Mavericks. I thought it is by default that Preview should take care of this. Or???????
So once I installed Adobe reader and found out that Adobe is the new default. I do not want that, so I eliminated Adobe reader.
Any suggestion on what is going on would be appreciated.

OK, found out how to restore Preview to be the default for opening PDF files. However, Safari 7.0 still refuses to use Preview as the default to open pages  that require a PDF reader. Anyone knows how to tackle this?

We are trying to implement a process so that any document that needs to be printed through our Java application will be printed as PDF using Adobe Reader. For which, We created and execute the below command line to call Adobe Reader and print the PDF on a printer."C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" /T "\\<Application Server>\Report\<TEST.PDF>" "<Printer Name>". Current Situation: The above command line parameter when executed is working as expected in a User's Workspace. When executed in a command line on the Application Server is working as expected. But, the same is not working while executing it from Deployed environment.Software being used: 1. Adobe 11.0 enterprise version. 2. Webshpere Application Server 8.5.5.2. Please let us know if there is a way to enable trace logs in Adobe Reader to further diagnose this issue.

  • "Full Screen Mode" in Adobe Reader XI for Windows 8 loads way too slow!

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8, after having used Windows Vista for years.  I installed Adobe Reader XI for my new computer.  Before, I used Adobe Reader X on Vista.  I used Adobe Reader "Full Screen Mode" to read the nice-looking Bible chapters I created with internet audio from Biblegateway.com.  In Vista, the "Full Screen Mode" appeared quickly, before the audio fully started, so I could see the text in time for the reading.
However, with Windows 8, "Full Screen Mode" takes around 5-10 seconds to appear at all, and a black screen is present throughout the wait.  It does the same thing when I hit "escape" to exit "Full Screen Mode" as well.  I even uninstalled Adobe Reader XI from my new laptop, and tried using Adobe Reader X, even though it is not recommened by Adobe to do that on Windows 8, in order to test the speed of "Full Screen Mode" there.  Adobe Reader X had the same problem!  I do not know if this can be fixed, but I am pretty unhappy about it!  I enjoyed the "Full Screen Mode" with my PDF chapters and the online bible audio!  Finding that function for the first time with Adobe Reader X was a delight for me!  It gave the reading a theater feel!
Has anyone else here had a similiar problem with "Full Screen Mode" loading way too slow on Windows 8?  I am very disappointed!  If this cannot be fixed by a user, is there a place to complain to Adobe and make a recommendation for software improvement?  Thank you!

I know it was crazy hard to find the links!
My company paid for it and I hadn't been on in a while...
It took some serious bookmark/history crawling to find!

  • How do you search bold text in Adobe Reader XI for Windows?

We create documents electronically that contain bold text for a client. No matter what we try in Adobe Reader XI for Windows, bold text is not found. Is it not searchable? Is there a setting that we are overlooking to enable it? So far, only NitroPDF is the only program I can find that works.

I just created a small test PDF (test_bold.pdf) with some bold words in it.  Reader XI (11.0.09) has no trouble finding these words.
You can download the test doc from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/333accd7-f54b-40f4-b06f-f14a3608f120
Search for the word lazy that has been boldened multiple times in the doc.

  • I received an email containing pdf files. I am using Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8. File doesn't open

I received an email containing pdf files. I am using Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8. File doesn't open. I am a new user to Windows 8.

The full featured Reader for Windows 8 is Reader XI.
Reader Touch works in all Windows 8 systems BUT it is intended mainly for use in mobile tablets - I see no particular reason to use it unless you can'r run Reader XI. Given it is mainly for use on mobile that can't use Flash, we aren't likely to ever see the development team spending their time on this.
If you want the latest and greatest - at least try Reader XI, not X! (Flash is a separate download, it will prompt).
