Adobe reader will not read aloud?

I have Window 8 on an HP touch smart laptop, I downloaded the latest adobe and I try to get it to read aloud and it wouldn't work.

I have spent two days at ti, but have finally resolved it myself. I deleted my Adobe Reader and installed an older version, and the problem disappeared. By the way, I also tried AR11, but the probelm was there too.

    Well, it's like this.  Someone sends me some printed  information.  A bill.

    Reader 11. When I try to  open the file Microsoft tells me they have
    encountered a problem and are closing  it down.  When I try to open any of my
    saved Adobe Reader files I then  get the same message.  I have to use System
    Restore to get the facility of  Adobe Reader 9  back.  Then it opens my saved
    files again.

    Check to see what is different between setups.  You may want to reset prefences in the balky computer.

    Adobe Edge will not download to a computer running XP in case anyone is wondering.
    I just spent a frustrating hour finding this out the hard way.
    I do wish my cloud home page announced that face in big writing just above the Edge products that I could see from my XP computer.
    I have put this into this forum, as a search on Adobe Edge will not download on Adobe forums during that frustrating hour produced nil results.

    Here is what my system administrator wrote:
    1. Right-Click on the installer, clicked 'Show Package
    Contents' and attempted to install from the MasOS folder. This
    provided an interesting error in the terminal window, however still
    did not install.
    2. From there, I opened 'Console' (found in Applications
    --> Utilities) and dug through the install error logs. Pinned
    the issue down to AIR trying to update / use files that were
    already in use.
    3. Restarted the computer under the primary admin account
    (the account used to setup the computer) and installed successfully
    from there.

    I have tied to repair, uninstall and reinstall.  The most I have gotten is the window for the cloud to open showing the program is there but it does not open at all.

    no the Adobe cloud window opens..the links for the programs dont work on the Cloud screen.  Its never happened before.  I did find the program and after uninstalling and reinstalling it will come up in programs.  But why it crashed fist of all and then why I had nothing at first, then the cloud window, then the program would go no further.  All the other links work on my desktop. Just not the Adobe.

  • New camera format not recognized/Adobe Updater will not update

    I bought a new camera (Canon Mark 5D III). I am trying to use my laptop (Mac Air/Lion) with Photoshop CS3 (although I have upgrades, I cannot upgade to CS5.5 or 6 because it will just drag my system down, worse than it is limping along already with Lion). Camera Raw doesn't recognize the file format. Adobe Updater will not upgrade anymore. Updater gives the following message: There are no updates available at this time. Please note that some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time: Adobe Updater." How do I get the files to read on my laptop? I use it for travel and would like to at least be able to see my files in Photoshop for sharpness, and maybe do some preliminary editing.
    By the way, I spent 20 minutes waiting for a chat assistant then when I got one, he told me I had to call tech support. I tried calling tech support but was put on hold for well over 2 and a half hours before hanging up. This is horrible service! I couldn't even find an email address for customer service to lodge a complant.

  • Adobe 10 Will Not Update, Vista SP2

    Adobe 10 will not function. I've spent days going through support recommendations. I've performed all fixes more than once. I've started and restarted. I've checked and rechecked settings. I've turned off protection programs. I've performed manual downloads. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. The update will not function. It appears to install okay, that displays as if everything did install okay, but I cannot see the Adobe page "version" display; nor can I view any independent web videos (vids do play fine from an email link, using Windows Media Player).
    Please - someone - help? I'm an average user, please go easy on me.

    I use MS IE version 8. That is the browser that I know I have or use . I've never deliberately used or downloaded another one.
    The only IE Add On I recognized in my Manage Add On list was SPYBOT. It's on my Desktop but it's not real time, it's the free version that I run manually. I did not see MALWAREBYTES listed in my IE Add Ons, but I also have that free version on my Desktop and I only use it manually. Other than that were items like "CBrowserHelperObject" by Dell. I don't know if that falls in the category of what you're looking for? I have NO idea where the "McAfee" thing came from, I've never knowingly had it. I last used the paid AVAST version (before this guy changed it over); and before that used a paid version of Trend Micro.
    I looked at ESET's properties and there was listed in their files a "Mozilla Thunderbird" Folder - I do not use the Mozilla Browser. I only use the IE Browser. I've no idea what that Folder is for or if it falls in what you want to know?
    Aside from this, the only other thing I know to do is to Print Screen the list I saw in my "Manage Add Ons." Probably more info that you want or need (or maybe can read?), I just don't know what, exactly, I am looking for?
    I do not see any recognizable IE Add Ons from ESET, my current AV program. If it matters, when I looked at its' Properties it reads as "CREATER OWNED," as if taking precedence over the SYSTEM? If there are other places I can look to offer more info, please tell me.

    Yes I have the lastest Flash Player installed.  MAC Pro quad core xeon running OS X 10.8.2.  Come on guys, this should not be happening.

    Hi Terry, What version of Flash Player are you using? You should be able to tell by going to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Does it happen in browsers? Could you test in Safari, Firefox and Chrome? What happens when you try to play them? Is it possible to post a screen shot? Thanks, -Dave
