Adobe Reader with Snow Leopard

New user here, doe's anyone have a problem with Adobe Reader 8.1 working with Snow Leopard? It just won't pop up in Safari or any other browser when needed to view or read or print.
Any help would be appreciated,
Jeff

If you want to use the Adobe Reader PDF plugin for Safari you probably need to launch Safari in 32-bit mode. Select Safari in the Applications folder and then do Cmd-I (Get Info) and check the box labeled:
Open in 32-bit mode
I have Adobe Reader 9.1.3 installed and it works fine, but I don't use the embedded PDF plugin, I just use the Apple one that comes with Safari.

  • CAC card reader with Snow Leopard

I recently switched to my macbook pro, but cannot use my CAC card reader (smart card) to access email and systems from work. The only info I can find indicates that the readers are not supported/compatible with my system. Other than using bootcamp or parallels and Windows XP, does anyone have any guidance? Any assistance would be welcome. Thanks.

I'm trying to use my CAC reader on my new MBP...old MB had Tiger, so I bought SCM SCR331 reader and downloaded the middleware available for it. Was able to log into AF Portal, but never my email...always errored out and I assumed that for some reason, the reader or the OS or Safari, was not using the correct certificate (there are at least 2 on the ID card...one for regular log in and another for email). At work, the PC asks me which certificate to use when I access my email through the AF Portal and I choose the one marked EMAIL. My MB would not ask...
Now, with my brand new MBP, the SCR331 is just not detected. Reading through the information on militarycac.com, I must need a firmware update that is not available for Mac...your information on the SGT111 is very helpful, and since its fairly cheap, I think I will buy one and be rid of firmware issues.
Accessing my email from home is very important to me, so this last post has me feeling a bit deflated. Please update if you figure anything out, I only have the MB and MBP in my home. I'm also thinking of seeing if the 'genius' at my local Apple store can help...

  • Is Adobe Photoshop CS compatible with Snow Leopard?

Which Adobe Photoshop is compantible with Snow Leopard? I have MacBookPro 10.5.8 and I upgraded the memory to 4 GB. If I go to 10.6.8 with Snow Leopard, what version of Adobe Photoshop would I need to have?
    Thanks

Your post has nothing to do with AirPort Networking. You may find that you will get better results if you post to one of the other Communities areas like the Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard or Other Pro Video.

  • Sony e reader prs 600 not showing in bookmark pane on my new Mac with Snow Leopard

I have a brand new sony e reader prs 600 it is supported but I am unable to see it on the bookmark pane in my new Mac with Snow Leopard is it something to do with Snow leopard?  Or why can I not see my sony e reader?  thank you

According to the Adobe website ADE 1.7.1 is compatible with Mac if you
look at system requirements and with the Sony reader if you look at
supported devices.  Though it doesn't mention Macs latest O/S.
and if I download an Adobe digital editions book, can I then move it
to Sony's ebook software, or is the format unsupported on the Sony
    Ereader?

  • Is adobe photoshop lightroom 2.0 compatible with snow leopard (10.6) ?

adobe photoshop lightroom 2.0 compatible with snow leopard (10.6) ?

The official line is yes. However, some users have experienced some problems. Whether these are due to incompatibility or problems resulting from the upgrade process is not yet clear.
The only acknowledge issue relates to Edit in Photoshop command not transferring images for Photomerge or as Smart Objects.
Note: Except for above, I'm running Lr 2.4 on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard without issue.

Does anyone know if Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 is compatible with Snow Leopard?

Yes it is, all versions from CS2 up will work.

  • Adobe CS compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6?

I have an IMac running OS 10.4.11 and would like to finally upgrade to Snow Leopard. Is Adobe CS (the original as in illustrator version 11) compatible with Snow Leopard? I want to make sure my entire creative suite will work before I upgrade. I can't afford to update my adobe suite too.

I was using CS2 when I upgraded to Snow Leopoard, and while it worked, it didn’t work great. It was unstable (InDesign crashed repeatedly), and anytime I tried to do anything in Photoshop that changed all the pixels in a large image (i.e. gaussian blur, despeckle, etc.), it took forever. If you don’t plan on upgrading to CS5 anytime soon, you might want to keep a separate partition with Tiger, just to run Adobe CS1/2/whatever.

  • Flash, Adobe Air, Time Machine, Safari not  working with Snow Leopard

Really need some help with this.
Did an archive and install of Leopard then installed Snow Leopard. No problems yet.
90% of Video sites would not work. Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. Uninstalled ShockWave, could not reinstall with 10.6.1.
Attempt to install adobe air, received this message: "couldn't write the application to hard drive - please verify and try again." performed verify disk, disk permissions, repair permissions all ok.
Attempted to install Air again, same message.
Tried to use Time Machine to open Safari from a week ago, received message: I did not have permission.
Using Macbook Pro, 2g memory, 80g hd, with 42g free.
    Backed up on ext. HD,
Oh, one more, getting a lot of spinning wheels when using Safari that causes a lockup and hard re-start.
I have an expensive piece of software that uses adobe air and I create videos for my business and I'm not able to do so now.
Can anyone give me any ideas what I can do.
    Thanks,

After a couple of days of problems with Snow Leopard and flash, safari etc... I figured out the problem is with my account.
I created a new admin account and everything seems to be working. Well almost.
a couple of things I've noticed are right clicking on dock icons does nothing, no option to quit or keep in dock.
Apple Techs', had me change my account months ago to fix a problem with safari crashing. It didn't really work and more problems resulted.
*So now my big question is: How do I move need items over to the new account.* I don't want to move everything over as I might bring what caused the problem in the first place.
What I need are several apps,(like ilife, iwork, firefox, devonthink, 1password etc.) downloads, desktop, docs, files, and book marks.
*What is the best way for me to do this?* Is there anything I need to do re: Snow Leopard on the new account?
I feel like I have a new and functioning Mac again just around the corner.
    Looking for your help, thanks,
    Z

  • CS2 InDesign problems with Snow Leopard

I recently purchased a new iMac with Snow Leopard. I installed my CS2 and everything seemed okay. Apple said I would have no trouble with CS2 on the new operating system.
InDesign is doing strange things. When I move a text box, the text disappears. I have to click the text cursor over the text and it reappears. Also, starting yesterday, when I export a file to PDF, InDesign crashes.
Other than purchasing CS4, is there a way to fix these problems?
    Thank you.

Sorry my email showing no message. What would be doing that?
I called Apple and they told me to install Rosetta, which I did. It helped for a while—I could move a text box and the text would not disappear but I still could not export to a pdf without InDesign crashing. They gave me a number to call for Adobe. I haven't called yet because I know the answer.
This is really a pain. I am working on a 32 page document with photos and lots of text. I always export to a pdf so I can send it out for proofing. I will have to transfer the files to my old computer to make pdfs.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Problems with Snow Leopard?

Are there problems showing up with Snow Leopard? Such as conflicts , glitches , crashes, etc?

    Hi Gerald...
Yes... basically, I'd suggest: don't upgrade
I should have remembered: if it ain't broke, don't fix it (and all I was even hoping for or expecting was for my Mac to operate about the same with maybe a minor 64 bit speed increase).
I have encountered a number of problems, and what is worse, even after getting some of them sorted out (and some not yet) and using SL for about a week, I very much regret 'upgrading' to SL (and will be working on restoring Leopard tonight). I have looked at every upgraded and new aspect of SL, and there is nothing of any significance - I have a dual core processor (relatively new iMac, very basic setup, all new brand name software), which now runs most things in 64 bit, and have found no perceptible speed increase in anything from the basic to the graphic intensive (though I have no games on my machine). In fact, I have noticed quite the opposite - very significant lags, commonly in saving files, opening dialogs and certain operations in many software programs (including Apple OD included programs, other Apple software, and 3rd party software such as Adobe CS4) - even simply saving an image in Safari now takes a painfully long time to simply display the dialog. The 'beach ball' has become a very common site, and a great many of the other lags and slowness occurs without the beach-ball appearing. That, combined with UPS related problems, the system crashing, the system simply hanging when left on overnight, printer driver problems, screen zoom problems, various program crashes, Finder not working properly (doesn't crash but doesn't find consistently/reliably), and general bad experience with SL now making what I consider a very basic/typical/safe Mac setup become unreliable and unstable and slow and sluggish, makes the SL 'upgrade' 0% benefit and 100% detrimental for me.
With (non-snow) Leopard, my Mac was basically perfect, reliable, fast, everything ran right and flawlessly, etc - all the stuff they talk about in their commercials. With SL, Apple has severely disappointed, and added 0 advantages/features and made my Mac slow, sluggish, unreliable and unstable and problematic - just like the PC they compare to in their commercials. I have also been waiting and checking for a 'software upgrade' re the countless problems reported here re SL - nothing has come, or seems to be forthcoming. I simply hope I will be successful in restoring my Mac (through time machine) to it's pre-snow condition.
And, it you do try SL, I'd suggest you do a full image backup (which the OS install does not warn you to do, or do itself) beforehand.

  • PS CS4 almost unusable with snow leopard

Installed Snow Leopard.  Ran the adobe uninstall for CS3 then did a fresh install of CS4.  Downloaded all the updates.  When I open Photoshop I get a constant stream of the same error message that reads "Could not complete your request because of a program error" screen shot attached.  It makes Photoshop pretty much unusable.  I'm not having the same problems with Illustrator.  I'm working on a MacBook Pro w/ 1.83 GHz Intel Processor and 1.5 GB 667 Mhz Memory.  If anyone could help me suss out the problem I'd be eternally grateful.
    Cheers,
    Bummersville

I have run CS4 with Snow Leopard installed by three different methods:
    1. Default Upgrade method to my Leopard volume
    2. Erase and install SL then migrate everything from my Leopard volume.
    3. Erase and install SL, install fresh CS4, no migration, no other software installed
All three crash Bridge and Photoshop frequently, especially while using the output module to make PDF contact sheets (crashes while entering the settings).
1 and 2 also crash on quitting the prog, (but my Leopard has spells of doing that too)
    Machine is Mac Pro 4 x 2.66 ver 1,1 with 8Gb RAM
Did all the standard stuff before and after installs, permissions, DU etc plus PRAM, SMC. Also trashed the prefs in Bridge and CS4.
The fact that the "erase/install/CS4 only" method crashes tells me that there is something hardware related in my machine (and probably other peoples too) which SL + CS4 doesn't like, and that there is no point in chasing software solutions.
I would be grateful if anyone who is having no problems with CS4 and Snow Leopard could spend a few minutes making contact sheets with the output module...use all the options. I have successfully done several contact sheets, but also had most crashes while entering the settings.
    Thanks

  • Color separations with Snow Leopard?

Before installing Snow Leopard I was able to create PDF color separations by going to file > print. From there I changed the printer to Adobe PDF 9.0 and changed the Mode to Separations under Output. When the print button was pressed I would get a PDF file with all my CMYK and spot colors on separate pages in shades of black. This is the file I need to send to have negatives/plates made.
With Snow Leopard the print to PDF command no longer works. I can still use Save As PDF, but that would require me to manually remove all colors except one and then change that one to shades of black. That process would need to be repeated for every color used. Does anyone have a work around or better way to create color separations? I have contacted Adobe and have an open case working this problem. There is currently a bit of confusion because the individual at customer support thinks I am having trouble printing color separations when I am actually having trouble saving color separations using the print command.

    Here is the work around!
Print the file to a .ps and run it directly through Distiller  you will need to give Distiller your password.
That suggest to me that the problem is that distiller needs to pass word in order to save the file anywhere and not be able to do so without the password it just sends it back to the system after completing the distilling when you try to print to pdf.
Here is two of the four pages I got from my experiment
Not ideal work flow when you are doing a lot of them but much the same we are all use to doing it in the past.
Most important it is a way.
