Adobe reader won't open due to dll error

Upon opening any PDF or acrobate reader 9.3 on its own, I get the error below:
AcroRd32.exe -entry point not found
The procedue entry point
?str@?$basic_ostringstream@DU?$char_traits@D@std@@V?$allocator@D@2@@std@@QBE?AV?$basic_str ing@DU?$char_traits@D@std@@V?$allocator@D@2@@2@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCP80.dll.
Where can I get a new copy of this DLL to work with acrobat reader? I beleieve it's supposed to go in system32 or system so some instruction on where to download the correct files, where to copy them to and any other procedure necessary would be appreciated.
By the way, uninstalling and re-installing the application did not help.

What is your Windows version?
What is the version of your MSVCP80.dll?
You can find the latest version of the VC80 CRT (for 32-bit Windows) here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13-9C99-220B62A19 1EE
Sorry, here is a newer one http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85 647
Run Microsoft Update after installing the latest VC80 CRT to apply any available security updates.

  • Adobe Story Won't Open Due to Various Error Message

    Hey there,
I'm trying to log in to my Adobe Story desktop application, but I continue to get first this error message upon opening the software:
    [ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Unhandled exception Error: Error #3004" errorID=3004]
Then upon putting in my login info and pressing enter am stuck on the Adobe Story CC sign in page. It let me through once and then said failed to get user preferences. Any thoughts on how to get back in?

    Hi,
Apologies for the inconvenience. Are you able to log in from the web app (story.adobe.com) ?
Also have you tried installing the AIR app again?
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader won't open

just posted a long question (1st time on this forum) & been sent here after creating a username - do I really need to re-type everything all over again or can someone there see it?
    just in case.....
Adobe Reader won't open - I eventually get a message saying there is no default mail client & telling me to run Outlook & set it as the default mail client (I'm not going to do that).  I then get a message saying that Adobe is not responding.  Uninstalled & re-installed & problem persists.

Since you mention Outlook, I assume that you are on Windows.  Here are some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

There are multiple problems with these forums, and unfortunately things like that happen all the time (to all of us).

  • Adobe reader won't open on iPad after recent update

After most recent update, adobe reader won't open on my iPad. I have lots of docs that I need to get to. Please help.

This forum is probably the best you can do. We're now on the weekend, and Adobe engineers don't work 24/7. When they return on Monday and see the reports, they'll work to fix it. The update will need to be submitted to Apple and then approved for an update.
Note that there are other apps on the App Store which can read PDFs.

  • Adobe reader won't open, even after re-download

adobe reader won't open because of error - NEED PDF READER NOW!!!!!!!!!

The reason is Adobe has not updated there software yet to play well with Mavericks. The fault is of course with the Adobe Software. I suggest you go to there web site and see if they have a fix yet for there software, If not all you can do is continue to check back with them or get on there fourms and see what others have to say about this same issue.

After migrating all of my adobe software (Cs4, cs5, etc.) to my new imac, the software won't open due to many errors. Any help on this?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Adobe software is conflictive when you use Migration Assistant because their applications don't work properly after migration. If you keep the DVDs or the installers of your software, use them to reinstall all your Adobe applications and they should start working correctly

  • Adobe Reader won't open PDFs

Why do I keep getting an error message when I try to print a PDF with Adobe Reader? It says that I have to sign the user agreement. I have already done this at least 10 times....

The ikon appears on my desktop ok.  But when I click on it I get the following message:
Adobe Reader could not open "Paul Voigt and Edison Bell.pdf" because it is either not a supported
file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and
    wasn't correctly decoded.
I get this message every time I try to use Adobe Reader!

  • Adobe Reader won't open  Tried installing updated Adobe Reader and error came up in the process and told me to contact software manufacturer.  Could I uninstall current Adobe Reader and then try installing the current AR?  Any ideas?

My Adobe Reader wouldn't download tickets.  Tried opening Adobe Reader application but it would not open.  I saw my Adobe Reader needed to be updated, so I attempted to install new Adobe Reader.  When it came to finalizing, it said there is an error and can't do.  Any ideas?  I have no functioning Adobe reader.  Should I uninstall old Adobe Reader and then try installing the updated AR?

(Had to step away & do things) I can't even open up the Adobe Reader application to uninstall; get message it won't open. And now have more things needing to be downloaded to print.  Any ideas on how to open the app, so I can uninstall.  I have a MAC OS X 10.9.4  When the installation initially failed I received this message from Adobe, " Adobe Reader Installation Error  Package name Adobe Reader xi (11.0.07)  Installer: installing abase path/installer: The install failed  (The install encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.  Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)  It did not specify what the error was

  • Adobe reader won't open PDF file

I have Adobe Reader 9 and Windows 8 on a Dell computer. When I try to open a PDF file from a website it sends me to my Library on my computer and won't open the file. If I try to open a PDF file from my Desktop, it opens OK. What can I do to fix this?

Do you use Firefox' own PDF viewer, or the Adobe Reader plugin?  See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Adobe Reader won't open after successful installation??

    Hi guys,
I recently installed the latest version of Adobe Reader for my Macbook Air and even got a confirmation that it was successfully installed and everything and yet when I click on its icon, it just won't open. Usually with Macs, the application icon will bounce up and down as the application is loading or waiting to open but the Adobe icon just moves once then stops, and nothing happens. It would say that it is "open" because it gives me the "quit" option when I right click on the icon. I've tried downloading it again twice but it still won't budge and worst of all, it doesn't give me any clues as to what is wrong with it or what I can do about it.
So if any of you know a solution, please let me know and thank you in advance!

  • Adobe Reader won't open automatically when clicking on online form link

I created a form in LiveCycle Designer, reader-enabled it, and then it was uploaded to a university website for students to access to apply for graduation from an advanced degree program. However, when students click the link, the dreaded "Please wait...If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document. [...]" appears. In the top right corner of the browser, a little button that says "Open with different viewer" is also displayed, which has to be pressed and then Adobe Reader has to be manually selected to open the form...the problem is that students are not aware of the button in the corner and simply believe the form is not working properly. To avoid the many frantic student calls as they get the "error" message, I was wondering if there is a way to upload a form to default to the Adobe Reader, without having to set this on every machine individually. I don't know much about the website portion of this project, so any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. If this is something that could be set on the form end itself (although I am not sure how you would), please also let me know. I have attached the screen shots with the first error message and the button in the top right and the selection for the viewer that comes up after pressing the button (once you select the reader in this step, it opens just fine). If there is any additional information I should provide to solve this problem, just let me know.
The form is linked online at http://www.uccs.edu/Documents/graduateschool/CORRECT%20Application%20for%20Admission%20to% 20Candidacy%208_22_14.pdf
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the issue.
    Kristin

You are using either the built-in Mozilla PDF Viewer or the built-in Chrome PDF VIewer and have a LiveCycle Designer XFA form being viewed.  You need to configure the web browser accordingly.
XFA-based PDF forms on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome
There are are probably registry entries available for setting this up in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive for both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, but I don't know them and have not seen them posted on any vendor site.  Then again, I haven't looked either.

  • Adobe reader won't open and closes internet when trying to open a pdf

I'm not sure when it started, but for the last 2 weeks every time I try to open a pdf file on the internet it stops and says "internet Explorer has stopped working" and will then close the window.  I thought it was just a cable (internet connection) problem since we had been having issues in that area, but now that's fixed and I still cannot open a pdf on the internet.  I uninstallled and restarted and re-installled Adobe Reader and I can't even open Adobe Reader much less a pdf from the internet.  Please help!  I've also tried installing Safari and it has the same results.  I'm sure it has to do with my Reader, but I just don't know how to fix it.

I finally uninstalled Adobe Reader and found a free pdf reader program.  At least now I can save the file I want to look at and can
open it with the other program.  Thanks for all your suggestions and help.  I learned a lot of new things.  Sorry Adobe... your loss

  • Downloading pdf on iPad mini, opening in Adobe reader, won't open, saying this is not a valid pdf document

    Hi
I am trying to open a pdf document which is a course qualification handbook.
I have been able to open other pdf documents in the adobe reader app, any suggestions how I can open the above document.
I am using an IPad mini.
    Thankyou

Is the course qualification handbook "protected" in any way?  For example, to limit the access to the content, a protected PDF document may prompt you to enter user name and password or use some proprietary technology to obscure the content.
Adobe Reader mobile products (Adobe Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support eBooks, protected PDFs, etc.
Would you try opening the course qualification handbook in the desktop version of Adobe Reader on your Windows or Mac computer and see what happens?
