  • Adobe Reader won't update

    Adobe Reader will not update on my Windows 7 OS. It says:
    =========================================
    Update failed
    Updates have been disabled by your system policy.
    Error: 1007
    =========================================
    What does this mean? How can I fix it so that it WILL update again on its own?

    No, just uninstall from Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
    As for the installer, you can download it directly from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.4.0/en_US/AdbeRdr940_en_US.exe

  • Adobe reader won't open on iPad after recent update

    After most recent update, adobe reader won't open on my iPad. I have lots of docs that I need to get to. Please help.

    This forum is probably the best you can do. We're now on the weekend, and Adobe engineers don't work 24/7. When they return on Monday and see the reports, they'll work to fix it. The update will need to be submitted to Apple and then approved for an update.
    Note that there are other apps on the App Store which can read PDFs.

  • Adobe reader won't 'uninstall'

    I can't print pdfs or download pdfs on the web since downloading adobe reader 9.  The previous version (reader 8) failed to uninstall and I am unable to use 'remove programme' to remove either version of reader.   The error message reads,  patch cannot be found.
    Can anyone offer a solution?  I believe I need to uninstall all the adobe files and reinstall afresh but can't do it with add/remove programmes.

    Thank you Claudio,
    Your suggestion worked perfectly. I am very grateful.

    You may want to try running this fix from Microsoft and uninstall all traces of any versions of Reader: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall If you want to reinstall Reader, download its full installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.Replies to this message go to everyone subscribed to this thread, not directly to the person who posted the message. • AR 9.32 Won't update or uninstall

    As the title states, AR 9.32 Won't update or uninstall
    I cant open PDF files for school and this is very fustrating...thank you

    There can be many reasons why you are not able to open pdf.Probably your pdf files are corrupt.If you are facing this problem with all the pdf files then it implies your Reader 932 is corrupt.In that case do the following to to reach 934(latest version of Reader)
    •Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html and run it;
    •Run the tool from Start >Programs >Windows Install Clean Up;
    •Select 'Adobe Reader' and click the "Remove' button; close the tool;
    •Download the 9.3.3 installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.3/enu/AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe and run it;
    •Download the 9.3.4 update http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.4/misc/AdbeRdrUpd934_all_incr.msp and run it.

  • Adobe Reader won't open

    just posted a long question (1st time on this forum) & been sent here after creating a username - do I really need to re-type everything all over again or can someone there see it?
    just in case.....
    Adobe Reader won't open - I eventually get a message saying there is no default mail client & telling me to run Outlook & set it as the default mail client (I'm not going to do that).  I then get a message saying that Adobe is not responding.  Uninstalled & re-installed & problem persists.

    Since you mention Outlook, I assume that you are on Windows.  Here are some things to try...
    Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
    If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
    It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

    There are multiple problems with these forums, and unfortunately things like that happen all the time (to all of us).

  • Adobe Reader won't work

    Hello
    I use Windows 7 (64 bit). I've spent a couple of days trying to get Adobe Reader to work. I need version 9.5 or higher in order to fill out an important tax document. When I click on the icon the program will come up for a few seconds and then it disappears by itself. I have repeatedly removed both adobe reader as well as acrobat using both the adober clean up program as well as the windows uninstall program. I have tried re downloading all 3 versions. The same problem continues to happen. I desparately need to find a solution. Thanks.

    Hi again
    I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to help much - even though I feel like
    I've just finished an intensive adobe seminar. So, that said - I'm stuck
    again. Thanks to you I got Adobe Reader 11 loaded and was able to fill out
    and save the tax form as a pdf file. When I get into the the site to file
    the form though I get the following page when I try to open the saved form:
    Please wait...

  • Adobe Reader won't start automatically

    I've downloaded Adobe Reader to my Windows8 system,, but when I try to open a pdf file fom on-line it asks me which App I want to use, but Reader isn't listed as a choice.  When I clik look for other Apps on computer, I can't find Reader anywhere (not in programs, documents, etc).  It will not start automatically.  The only way I can't make it work is by Saving the pdf file, then going to my graphic start page and cliking the Adobe reader icon which has been there (and only there) since it was downloaded.  It's really time consuming and I have a lot of psf files I have to go back and delte from my downloads

    the App version self-loaded and it worked initially whenever I tried to open a pdf file, but this is a new touchscreen Acer and I'm used to having actual programs, not Apps and I don't quite understand it yet...Of course like everything else with Windows 8, most thing don't work the way they used to  after you do any updates.   I'd love to go back to Windows 7, or even XP.  I got this for Christmas and so far (according to it's own software program), it's shut down a total of 418 times, the majority of causes had to do with Explorer.

  • Adobe reader won't let me read PDF

    Adobe reader won't let me read PDFs until I sign the end agreement which doesn't show up in black under the sign area.

    Sorry, I don't understand that...
    After you install or update Adobe Reader, you have to accept the end user license agreement by clicking on the Agree Accept button; is that what you mean?

    After installing Mavericks on a Mac, discovered that Adobe Reader won't save forms or e-mail them with the filled-in information. DOes anyone know a fix? Does anyone know if this is also true for Acrobat?

  • Help with opening Adobe Reader and downloading updates

    I can not open Adobe .pdf files any longer (this started yesterday, prior to that I could open adobe files).
    When I double click a .pdf file I get this notice on my screen: Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access file.
    So I went to the Adobe download site to download a new copy of Adobe.  When I start the download I get this on the screen:  The instruction at "0x0e3a0068" referenced memory at "0x0e3a0068."  The memory could not be written.  Then two options are listed: click OK to terminate or cancel to debug.  So I click on cancel and I get this on my screen: Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer.   A malfunctioning or malicious addon has caused I.E. to close this webpage.
    I don't have AVG running, I do have avast but I've disabled it.  I ran Registry Mechanic and an I.E. erasure program but nothing helps.
    I have gone into I.E. and reduced the security level to its lowest state but no joy.
    So, any ideas or suggestions on what's the problem and how to overcome it would be appreciated.  Thanks, in advance, for your reply.  Jim R.

    Hi Mike..tried that as well but no joy.  A friend of mine was looking at it all and noticed that it was an I.E. thing as far as not letting me redownload the reader so I went to Mozilla Firefox and I could download a new version but....whenever I attempt to open a .pdf file I get that message, "Windows can not open the specified device, path or file. You man not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
    Damn...this is irritating as I need to get to some of thos files as I need them for a Journal I'm working on as editor-in-chief.
    It all worked just fine last Saturday but starting Monday when I was on my flight out to D.C.  no joy.
    Sigh...Jim R.

  • Adobe Reader 9.3 Update, DELL Monitor Issue, Comes up as Mobile PC

    Hi Folks,
    I have currently discovered a bug in the Adobe Reader 9.3 Update released on 1/12/2010 where in a multi-monitor environment one of the monitors or sometimes multiple monitors come up as a Moblie Display.
    I have seen this happen when the update is applied on a Windows 7 64bit box with Quad or Dual Monitor set-up. Using Dell p2210t Monitors and Nvidia Quado NVS Cards (all models) not sure if this is only happening on other OS's with the same set-up but that's what we've seen. I have since stopped running the upgrade or roll it back on affected machines.
    I wonder if ADOBE knows of the issue and has an update for it.

    Use the forum for Adobe Reader.

  • Why can't I open PDFs anymore and Adobe Reader won't install.

    Why can't I open PDFs anymore and Adobe Reader won't install? This happens only in Safari. I have tried changing my security preferences but it doesn't help.

    missyzz,
    which version of OS X is installed on your Mac, and which version of Adobe Reader do you have installed? Did you ensure that all of your browsers were not running when you’d installed Adobe Reader?
    To use Preview to open PDFs, download the PDFs to your Mac, and then use Preview to open the PDFs locally. Since you can open PDFs in Firefox, it sounds like you don’t need the Preview workaround.

  • Adobe Reader Won't Download On Windows 7

    Worked ok on Vista, After
    installing Windows 7 (Clean & Install) Adobe Reader won't install on windows 7, goes through the process says 100% installation complete, then nothing. Any ideas.

    I havent faced this issue as such on my WIN 7 OS. Worked fine for me.
    You might be able to find the cause behind the problem by creating the error log for the installer, using the following commandline switch:
    AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe /l
    the "\l" switch will create an error log (if any) in the temp directory. (%temp% \ BootStrap.log)
    If you can share the log details, it may help in deciphering what exactly is the root cause behind your problem.
