Adobe Reader x 10.0.1 Crashes IE on window 7

I have recently upgraded to Adobe Reader X (10.0.1). Ever since every now and then while trying to open a PDF via IE (7), IE crashes. It was working fine with the previous Adobe version. My current OS is windows 7.
Any help / comments will be greatly appreciated

Considerimg http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.1/en_US/AdbeRdr1001_en_US.exe
is the latest version, I assume you did not read the original post.
An "upgrade" would be to go back to the earlier version that does not crash so much.

Thanks for the link, but installing the flash player and the newer version of the Reader [11.0.02] doesn't help. So I had to reinstall the X version to make things work. I want to make a bug report but the form isn't working either!

  • Adobe Reader 11.2.1 still crashing

We are still having crash issues with Adobe 11.2.1. We are using Android 4.3 operating system. We have been using the same fillable forms since before the last two Adobe Reader updates in April 2014.
These forms were not causing the program to crash before the updates. We have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader multiple times. The forms crash when advancing from fillable box to fillable box, when switching from signature/freehand to fillable box, etc.
We have tried several different forms with the same result. Is there anything else we should try to get Reader working properly?

  • Adobe Reader X 10.1.2 crashing

We have just updated from Reader X 10.0.1 to 10.1.2 to resolve a crashing issue, and everything appeared to be fine, for a day. Now, only 1 of 3 Citrix servers has Adobe Reader X working correctly.
Citrix servers are Win2k3 R2 Enterprise 64 bit, updated to Jan 23 with all MS Updates, however we take Citrix out of the equation by logging onto the server itself and running the reader and it still crashes, seems mostly when selecting Edit->Preferences, (Protected mode is off), other times it crashes attempting to open a file. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please check and see if you have the MS patch KB2624667
installed on your Citrix servers? (You can check the same via the Control
Panel > Add/Remove Programs and selecting the checkbox to "Show All

If so, try uninstalling the same and see if it fixes the problem.

  • Can't get adobe reader to install on my new laptop with windows 8

I can't get adobe reader to install onto my new laptop with windows 8. Basically what happens is that I start the download from the adobe screen by clicking the yellow download button, then I click run (I've also tried save and run), then I allow the program to make changes to my hard drive, and then finally a blank grey box appears in the in the middle of the screen, titled "adobe reader installer". After this box appears nothing else happens. I've let it sit for at least 30 minutes and still nothing. I've also disabled my pop up blocker, and set the security settings to default as suggested in other posts. Unfortunately this is the only pdf program that works for the site we have to use to write contracts, so I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

    Try installing from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise

  • Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07 freezes intermittently on Windows 8.1 when doing "Save As"

Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07 freezes intermittently on Windows 8.1 when doing "Save As". This occurs when opening a file from Outlook or from the web. I have IE 11 and Microsoft Office 365 installed on a Toshiba Satellite P50. Windows and Office have the latest updates. There are no error messages. I can clear Adobe Reader with Task Manager. Opening the PDF again has the same result in that it may hang or work correctly when doing a “Save As” again. This occurs intermittently when charging the laptop or when on battery.

    Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Is the installation file for adobe reader, the same for all the versions of windows ? Is it ?

    Hello,
I want to know if the installation file for adobe reader is it the same for all the windows ?
It is because I have to do an automatic installation for XP, seven and windows 8...
It is also the same between 32bits and 64bits ?
    Thanks.

It may be worth mentioning two things.
    1. Adobe provide extensive information on Enterprise Deployment of Acrobat and Adobe Reader.
    2. You may well need a redistribution license to do this, if you are installing on behalf of anyone (accepting EULA for them), pushing, or hosting etc.

  • Adobe Reader 9.4,10,11 crash when opening certain pdfs. Faulting module ntdll.dll

We've started having issues with a certain type of pdf file crashing reader anytime it's opened. It will open fine about 1/10 of the time, the rest of the time it either straight crashes or we get a message that a drawing error occured and the pdf isn't rendered properly. I've tested with Reader 9.4, 10.1.2, 10.1.4, and the latest 11 release. I've tested under WinXP x86 and Win7 x64 with the same results. It does apparently open fine under Windows Server 2008 R2 but the issue is occuring on our desktops and opening from the server was only a test.
I'm unable to share the pdf for others to research since it contains Protected Health Information. The pdf however does have a header with the patient info and then a graph similar to a EKG strip, the header always renders fine but when we get the error that a drawing error occured it's the graph thats corrupt. Sumatra/Foxit/Evince can open the document just fine. I've tried disabling every feature and plugin in Adobe Reader with no luck. I've tried to run the pdf through some tests and I did find there are 2 errors, both are "[error] Object shall end with 'endobj' statement" but I'm unable to find anything that can autocorrect the issue.
We have thousands of those pdf's, they were ran through a Print 2 PDF converter (Win2PDF 7.0.46 - 2.6.7.1465.3 http://www.win2pdf.com) using pdf version 1.4. Anyone have any ideas on what else to try? I'm at a loss and I'd rather not have to install an alternate PDF reader on 6k workstations (although with all the headaches Adobe Reader has caused me that would be a welcome change).
    Jason

I've tried Acrobat and it won't open the file either, same app crash in ntdll.dll. But I know what you're saying but I don't have the source documents to run through conversion with another application.
I'm not sure how the process was performed but we had a vendor come in and convert all of our old clinical EMR data into PDF's and then index into OnBase. We are working with the vendor for a solution but so far they haven't found nothing. I recommended to them to update their Win2PDF program but I don't think thats an option on the thousand, if not millions of documents already converted.
Why is every other PDF reader able to open the file except Adobe Reader?

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.6.70 Crashing Consistently

We have a call center with 825 users.   During the workflow of the call, the users are filling out a PDF form created by one of our technical writers.   Certain answers will cause the CSR to open a second form and fill in questions on that from answers obtained on the first (2 copies of adobe reader open at the same time both with forms).
We have found that if they hit "Enter" on one of the forms rather than TAB to go from one field to another by accident.   Adobe Reader then crashes and the CSR loses all of the data in the forms.  This is VERY frustrating for the CSR and the client who is on the phone.   I have captured the following events from Event Viewer following crashes.  I would appreciate any assistance you can provide.

  • Adober Reader 9.0: annots.api Crashes

I tried deploying Adobe Reader 9.0 to several campus computer labs I manage. I am using roaming user profiles, but I don't have AppData redirected - it stays on the local hard drive.
I discovered that while Reader 9 works OK for Administrators, it crashes at startup for people with just regular "User"-level privileges. This problem goes away if I remove the annots.api plugin file. Has anybody else seen this issue? I've gone back to Reader 8.1.2 in the meantime.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.01 keeps crashing and can't print documents.  Using OSX 10.8.2  Help!

Can you help me use Adobe Reader without it crashing?
Can you help me print a pdf documany?
Using Adobe Version 11.0.01 on OSX 10.8.2
    Thank You!

I am using Adobe Reader 11.0.01 with latest Safari without any issues. Plug-in works fine. This isn't true of Firefox 18.0.01 though.
When you run Reader for the first time, it writes two plug-ins into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins. These files are for PDF browsing in Safari and Firefox. They override the default Safari Quartz plug-in that is standard in OS X and provides default PDF viewing. You can remove the Adobe PDF plug-ins and Safari will just default as expected. The next time you run Adobe Reader, it will notice that those PDF plug-ins need replaced, and it starts all over again.
In Finder preferences, in the sidebar category, and under DEVICES, the top selectable item is your computer name. Select it and exit preferences. Launch a new Finder window. In the left panel and near the bottom, will be the DEVICES category. Click on your computer name. The silver disk drive icon will be your hard drive name, probably Macintosh HD. Double-click it. Now, double-click Library, and then again, Internet Plug-Ins.
The two files you want to drag to your Desktop (or the Trash) follow: You will need admin login to do this.
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
Safari will now resort to default PDF viewing. If you double-click a PDF file on your disk, and Adobe Reader is the default open application, you will have undone the above.
The steps that I shared previously for changing the default PDF application were to be done in the Finder, on a PDF file already in your computer file system, and not within your browser.
