Adobe Reader X 10.1.2 Fix?

I have a user that has been having issues with Adobe Reader X since the latest update 10.1.2. When he tries to view a pdf from a secured web site a blank grey screen appears. I have seen the link to download a patch to fix the issue. Here is the link: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-opens-grey-screen-browser.html. What I am wondering is that whether or not this download works with all Operating Systems. The user who is having the issue uses Windows XP SP3 Pro and Internet Explorer 8? Does anyone know because I dont think it says in the link?

The download doesn't work with all operating systems, only MS Windows.

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.2 (w/fix) and/or 9.x hang when printing.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled both reversions many times (w/ and w/o 10.1.2 print fix).  The thing is, when first installed, both versions print okay, but after computer re-start/reboot printing a pdf file causes a hang of reader.  Word, excel, notepad, etc. print just fine.  As far as I can tell, duplex mode is not on in 10.1.2.  To get a pdf to print, I have to uninstall one version and reinstall another.  But it's a one session deal.  As soon as computer is rebooted, no printing.  Seems as if computer startup switches some setting.  OS is Windows XP with drivers up-to-date. Any suggestions?

Repair did not correct it.  I used Revo Uninstaller to do a clean uninstall.  It uninstalls using the application's uninstall and then scans for any leftover files or registry entries. It found some so I got rid of them as well.  I deleted my temp files (%temp%) and emptied the recycle bin.  Then I donwloaded and installed Adobe Reader 10.1.2 from the web site.  It works!  I am so happy as I have many long PDFs and use search constantly.   Thank you for all your help.

  • Adobe Reader 9 Print Freeze - includes Fix

Since installing Adobe Reader 9 on one computer, I cannot print a .pdf file from that computer.
The print process freezes at the small "Progress" pop-up (0 progress) - eventually freezing the computer altogether - forcing a computer reset.
Windows XP Pro SP3, network printers connected to another computer on a home network. Printers are an HP Laserjet and an HP Inkjet. Printer drivers are up to date.
    - All other printing, with other file types, works fine from that computer.
    - Prior to installing Reader 9, the 8 and 7 Reader versions printed fine from this computer.
    - The same .pdf files print fine from another computer.
I've also tried uninstalling Reader 9, and reinstalling it; I also tried uninstalling Reader 9 and re-installing Reader 8, and even re-installing Reader 7. Whatever the problem, it has now disabled .pdf printing from any version of Adobe Reader on that computer, where it had previously worked.
Again, this ".pdf print freeze" problem is only on this computer, and only after installing Adobe Reader 9.
    The fix:
Uninstall Adobe Reader 9. Restore computer to a date prior to installing Adobe 9. (Just unistalling didn't do it.)
Install prior version of Adobe Reader - 8.13 works here.
I can print .pdf files again.
I had one .pdf file that I had saved when I had Adobe Reader 9 installed, and still can't print that one.
I got tried of trying every other "Fix" I could find - none worked. The real fix would have been not installing Adobe Reader 9 in the first place, but maybe this will help someone.

You may want to try the windows installer cleanup utility.
    Download the utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

  • Adobe Reader Has Stopped Working Possible Fix

Hey, I just had a battle with the adobe program on a computer, it would go to open, then right away it would show up with the error message:
"Adobe Reader <version> Has Stopped Working" then it sends information and closes.
I fixed my issue by going into the Adobe Reader folder, finding the "Plug-Ins" folder, and there was a duplicate of every plug-in in there, so it was trying to load them.  As soon as I deleted the duplicated plug-ins it opened fine.
I just thought I would share this incase anyone else was having problems with adobe, as a Re-install did not seem to fix the problem, If you are having the problem try what I mentioned above.

It was on a Dell laptop, running Windows Vista.  But I'm sure it would work on any machine running any Windows, not sure about linux or MAC's, but if they do have duplicates of the plug-ins and it was crashing I will still suggest it as a fix

  • Adobe Reader saved tax forms are unreadable by Adobe Reader. Has this been fixed?

When I file my tax deposits it gives an option to "view and save as pdf". In February this would only work if I installed Adobe Reader on my mac so I did. None of the saved deposit records from January thru May is readable. I discovered the problem in June and just sent the pdf to the printer software which then saved it as a pdf.
I didn't find out about it until I tried to read one of the saved deposit pdf's and got Adobe's arrogant little error message that blames everybody else for the problem.
    Has this defect been fixed?

When you you finish filing a tax deposit the IRS software provides  a list of options for keeping a record of your work. One of them is 'View and Save as PDF' which has the Adobe logo and invokes Adobe Reader. When you click on it, it displays a nicely formatted page showing the transaction you just filed.
When you go to the Safari file menu and click on 'save as…' it asks for a file name and all that and seems to work just fine. But the file it stores has nothing in it.
It used to work just fine. I have been using the view and save as pdf feature since 2008. The same logo the same messages, the same process.
In February of this year when I clicked on the logo it told me I had to load Adobe Reader in my Applications folder. So I did. Everything looked and felt exactly the same as before and I assumed it was working. The only difference is that it now stores empty files. I didn't discover it until I tried to read one of the files and got the message from Adobe Reader.
I am using the same version of the mac os as before; the only change was the one to add Adobe Reader to the applications folder.

  • Error 2203 installing Adobe Reader. How do I fix?

Error 2203.Database: C:\Windows\Installer\61cd5.ipi. Cannot open database file. System error -2147287035.
I am running Windows 7 and continue to get this error when attempting to install Adobe Reader. I have run the CleanUp tool and removed all previous versions of Reader but still get this error. Any help would be appreciated.

Try if this installer works better: http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi
If it does, update to 11.0.5 afterwards.

  • Fillable form on iPad doesn't print from Adobe Reader. Is there a fix yet?

I can fill in a fillable form but when I print it the filled-in text doesn't print. I just get a blank form. I'm using the latest Reader version on an iPad 2.  there a solution available yet?

It should work with the update to Reader 10.4. "Enhaned compatibility with AirPrint means improved printing of completed forms as well as documents with comments."
I don't have AirPrint on my printer to test. Is your printer AirPrint compatible?
I can get it to work with Printer Pro which I'm running on my iPad.

  • Why can't I open any pdf files with any version of Adobe Reader after I upgraded?

Upgraded Adobe Reader not too long ago and after then it stopped opening pdf files. I had an old version of Adobe Acrobat and that opened the file no problem. I tried to downgrade Adobe Reader, but that didn't fix the problem.
Just tried to open Adobe Reader by itself without any files and it still crashed.
    FYI – I’m using Windows 7 (Microsoft 2013)

It's not a good idea to have both Acrobat and Reader unless they're both of the same version number (like X or XI). Such a situation can cause all kinds of conflicts and crashes, as you've seen. Also, if you have an old version of Acrobat it's might not be compatible with your OS any more.

  • Adobe Reader 9.4.x crashes ...

    Download
    http://www.dat.de/e10liste/e10vertraeglichkeit.pdf
    and open.
It will crash on Windows 2000 with Adobe Reader 9.4.0 or Adobe Reader 9.4.2
    Please fix it.

Having just spoken with "Sam" at Adobe technical support, it was suggested that I uninstall Adobe Reader prior to installing Acrobat X Pro. I was told that if I did not do so, it would prompt me to upgrade during the installation of Acrobat X since the version of Reader is 9.4.x and not version X (or above). I was also told that once Acrobat X Pro is installed, it will become the default application for handling PDF opening. If anyone has any additional or different information, please post it here.

    Cordialement,

  • Adobe Reader XI crashes while sending message to it

    Hi,
I found Adobe Reader XI crashes while recieving windows message ( sent from SendMessage api) from another exe. same things used to work fine with Adobe Reader X.
    Any Idea to fix this?
    Regards,
    Arvind

No knowledge of the problem, but I'd suggest trying to isolate the problem.
Can you find a single specific Windows message that will reliably crash Reader XI? If so, what are the message parameters in full?

  • Adobe reader "save as" function is not working

screen tells me the adobe folder is empty and that the "save as" function is malfunctioning when I try to download pdfs from a particular site. If I'm using EI - it freezed EI on the blank download screen.  I have deleted and redownloaded Adobe Reader but that didn't fix the problem. Any idea where the problem lies?

"screen tells me the adobe folder is empty" - exactly what do you mean by the "adobe folder" and what does the screen tell you?
"the save as function is malfunctioning" - exactly what happens?
Please give messages in full. Please give your system and version of Adobe Reader.
    What is EI?

  • Adobe Reader 11.0 prevents iMac from shutting down

Unless I quit Adobe Readert 11.0, my iMac (Mountain Lion) will not shut down. This has not been a problem with other versions of Adobe Reader. Can this be fixed?

    olai99 wrote:
TimeMachine sometimes slows down the iMac. For example, when saving ("save as") in Photoshop CS4 it takes *for ever* - that is 40 seconds - for the Finder to come up with the save-as-window. This only happens while backing up in TimeMachine is active. If there is no back up occuring there is no delay. The delay is in Finder; I have not noticed delays within CS4 applications; nevertheless it rather slows down the workflow.
I don't recall seeing that reported very often. When OSX puts up that save window, it has to list all the places you could possibly put something, and checking the network for the status of all such locations, while a backup is busily using the WIFI connection, takes longer.
Try the things in #D2 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
I have experimented with putting the iMac to sleep instead of shutting down, and this appears to work without problems.
    Great!

  • My adobe reader renders some pdf text incorrectly

I have a problem with a variety of PDFs containing embedded text, which are not rendered properly. The text appears as ASCII jibberish even though the original file renders normally with other PDF readers. Some headers and URLs might come out normal, but the rest of the text is jibberish. I believe this a problem specific to my computer, and not to the PDF document, wherever it was created. This first happened with Adobe Reader 7.0, and upgrading to Adobe Reader 8 has surprisingly not resolved the issue. Uninstalling everything and reinstalling Adobe Reader 8.0 has not resolved the issue.
At one time I used Adobe Reader Speed-Up to modify my adobe 7.0 installation, so I thought this could be a problem caused by that software. But un-installing and re-installing a fresh copy of Adobe Reader 8.0 has not fixed the issue. I have tried to make sure Windows fonts settings have been ok. any ideas?

Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Tool to remove all vestiges of
Reader and the Speed-up tool. Then try to re-install.
