  • Adobe Reader X does not launch

    Hello,
Frequently, Adobe Reader X does not start on my Windows 7 computer.
I have tried the following methods of access:
    Desktop link
Start > All Program > Adobe Reader X
    Run > C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
    Environmental specs:
    Computer: ASUS laptop
OS: Windows 7, fully updated as of 2/5/12
    RAM: 8 gigs
    Processor: Intel i5, second gen
    Observations:
Subsequent attempts to launch Adobe Reader X add another "AcroRd.exe *32" image to the "Processes" tab in Windows Task Manager (the count of these images can build up very high).
These same attempts fail to add an "Adobe Reader X" task in the "Applications" tab of Task Manager.
The CPU and Memory were only at 25% of their capacities during the last occurrence.
[Failed] attempts taken to fix problem:
    Repair install
    Complete uninstall / reinstall
    Workaround:
As of now, the only workaround I have found is to restart my computer. If I am lucky, Adobe Reader X will open after booting. Otherwise, I just have to keep restarting until it works.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Sam

Would it be possible for you to:
    1. Temporarily disable the antivirus program and try launching Reader again.
    2. Try launching Reader by right clicking on the shortcut and selecting "Run as Administrator"
If all the above steps produce negative results, please check the Event Logs on your machine (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Evenet Viewer > Windows Logs > Application) and see if you are seeing any error related to Adobe Reader.
Also, could you let me know if launching Adobe Reader produces any error of sorts, or does it simply not launch inspite of a process being spawned.

  • Adobe Reader XI does not open files with a command line "path" argument.

Adobe Reader XI does not open files with a command line "path" argument. Version X and lower all worked fine. I have deleted and reinstalled the program with no success. Is this a bug?

    Hi Daniel,
What is the make of the printer and is it using PCL or PS driver.?
Do you have Acrobat installed on this machine as well?
Please check if 'Print Spooler' service is running on the machine.

  • I installed ADE and when I try to download ebook it tries to open with Adobe reader and does not give option to open with ADE

I installed ADE and when I try to download ebook it tries to open with Adobe reader and does not give option to open with ADE

It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this.

  • Adobe Reader XI does not run using Win7 Pro

Trying to run Adobe Reader XI on a PC running Win7 Pro, but it starts, gives gray screen, then shuts down.  However, I can read pdf docs within Google Chrome.
I was running Reader version 10 with no problem, went to upgrade to 11, and now no versions work, as I've tried to uninstall and reinstall ver 9,10,11 but none work.  Help!

I ran the script but does not fix issue.
When I run Adobe Reader or click on a .pdf file on my drive, the Adobe reader program starts, but gives a gray screen while my hard drive spins, then program closes.
    any ideas?

  • Printing a PDF in Adobe Reader  v8 does not print watermark

In our office we have PDFs created with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 7 that have a lighten watermark which say "confidential". These PDF documents print fine with Adobe Reader 7.0.8. Our office has now converted to Adobe Reader 8.1.1. When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader v8.1.1 the watermark displays on the screen but when you print the document the document prints without the watermark.
I have checked the knowledge base and can't find this issue. The document has no trouble printing, it just doesn't display the watermark. I have tested Adobe Reader versions 8.0, 8.1.1 and the new version 8.1.2 all display the watermark when you open the Reader, but none of them print the watermark. I have gone back and verify and the watermark does print on Adobe Reader v7.0.8.
If anyone has a similar issue or solution please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mary Mendoza

I have the same problem. The watermark does not print out even though I can see it in the print preview. Anybody...?

  • My Adobe Reader Plugin does not Load in Some Machines

    Hi ,
I have created a Plugin for Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X.
As per the licence it has to work with both the version.
My plugin gets loaded in Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X versions only in development machines and few of the testing machines and My plugin works fine in these machine as per the task it has to do.
I tried to test My plugin in some machines which has same configuration as that of the machines where My plugin was able to load, but i could see My plugin loaded only in some machines and all other machine its not getting loaded.
Please some one let me know why is this happening and how to overcome this. I think i am missing something to load My Plugin but in some machines i was able to load My plugin without doing any settings other than copying My plugin's .api file to Reader Plugin's folder.
Thanks in advance. Please some one help me out.

  • Adobe Reader plugin does not allow to save files

When pdf files are opened inside firefox using the Adobe plugin 10.1.12.15, I am not able to save them to disk. The "Save button" appears on the bottom of the screen on hovering, but clicking it does not offer any action. Neither does CRT-SHIFT-S or displaying the Adobe menu bar and pressing "Save as..." from there.
Restarting of the browser sometimes helps.
Any tips? And no, I do not want to save pdf files as the first option. I want the opened by default in Firefox and save them from there when I need/want to do this.

Solved it. Problem seemed to have been a crashed Acrobat process. Just kill all Acrobat tasks in the task manager, reload the link in the browser and the Save button now works.

    Hi,
Are the pdf files in which you are trying to highlight are scanned copies?
Also are the pdf files password protected?
In password protected files user is not allowed to add any comments.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Reader Icon does not appear

For some reason, when I push Adobe Reader through a GPO, none of the users see an Adobe Reader logo. They will only see the generic file icon (pic 1). If I go to the file's properties, you can see pic 2. Also, double-clicking  on the file will open in Adobe Reader, it's just visually annoying to most of our users. Does anyone know what I could be missing or not doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey Tony,
I've been experiencing the same problem. With Adobe 9, i can't open any type of pdf files from the web or file. My only solution with this was to uninstall 9 and reinstall adobe reader 8. If anyone knows of a solutions to make Adobe 9 to open any pdf files from online, i'm all ears!

  • Adobe Reader Installer does not work

I am trying to install Adobe reader on Windows 8. I downloaded Adobe Reader the Clicked the downloaded file and gave the permission. Then the Adobe Reader Installer window will show up but it's empty and has nothing on it. When I close it won't close either. I have to use windows task manger to close it. I tried to download it with another browser but still getting the same problem. I made sure that flash plug-in is working too. I used the direct link. Still can not install it.

Use the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe Reader XI does not open

Why won't my adobe reader open and read PDF files. It is very annoying

Google Chrome uses its own PDF viewer.
Regarding Adobe Reader not opening local PDF files, three possibilities
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Adobe reader XI does not close after a right click to print.

We have upgraded from 9.3.3 to 11.0.3 and since then we can no longer right mouse click to print single or multiple documents without leaving Adobe reader open afterwards. Our company prints multiple PDFs everyday and it's very frustrating for our users to no longer have this function working correctly. It would seem we are not the only ones either but here has been no resoltion that I can find. Initally it said in various forums that the Welcome screen caused this problem but we have disabled it and it still happens and also the Protected mode has no effect. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I see this has been asked and never answered several times.  Surely it can be done????
