Adobe Reader X freezes when I try to open recent files

When I try to open recent files, Adobe Reader X will freeze up and will stay that way until I restart the computer. Even logging off won't work. I recently left it alone for around 5-10 minutes and Windows finally did end up stopping the process, but this is not normal. Any ideas for a fix?

Nope. That didn't do it. It won't even let me end the process AcroRd32.exe. I confirmed that after around 10 minutes, it finally closed on it's own. I just also confirmed that it's a problem with accessing files on my network, not local files. The odd thing is that I can use the Open tool, go the folder and open that file fine, but when I try to open the same file under the recent files, it freezes up. This may have to do with the fact that this is a mapped network drive. Any fix would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mac OS X Tiger - Ai CS4 freezes when I try to open a file from either dbl-clicking on the file or opening within Ai. This happened all the time with Ai CS3 so I upgraded, now its happening with the new version. Do I need to allocate more memory to Ai? If yes, how do I do that? Download OnyX, clean out your system caches and repair permissions. If it occurs in eitehr version of AI, it hardly qualifies for the usual trash the prefs, but of course that is never wrong, too...

I have a problem trying to view AVI files. When i open the file everything freezes, i am unable to force quit and have to hit the big off switch.
Quicktime did not even open
Read a few forums and thought quick time did not have the codecs. Downloaded DIVx first tried to ope a file. DiVx opened but then everything just froze, then tried VLC and had the same results.
i don't know if this is connected but i cant even view downloaded videos from itunes just get the music.
I guess something is missing.

Just a little extra just been into finder to dig out info on one of the files. when right clicked on file and selected GET INFO the new window open up and then everthing froze.
All my vi files have bee taken off a PC running xP

Adobe Reader XI freezes when I try to get to preferences

When I open Reader XI and I select preferences, the programs just hangs and I keep getting the ding noise. What could be causing this problem? I uninstalled, reinstalled, even went back to version 10.

If you are on Windows, try to disable Protected Mode. Since you cannot go into Preferences, download, unzip, then run this registry script

Issue with Adobe Reader XI Freezing when Printing/Opening Documents

I've been having problems with Adobe Reader XI freezing when I attempt to print documents. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. I've gone back to previous versions. I've disabled protected mode. I've run Adobe reader without background programs running. I've done a disk clean-up, and deleted temporary files. All to no avail. Is there anyone who can help me solve this problem.

There's no built-in function in Reader that does that, but it can be done using a script.

As has been mentioned Adobe Reader cannot export PDF page content. Nor can it create PDF or manipulate PDF page content.
What you can do is use one of Adobe's online subscription services. Two provide for PDF to Word export.
There's ExportPDF and PDF Pack.

Help us to help you: There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

In design CS5 freezes when I try to place a file / photo linked to the Dropbox. I am using OS 10.10.2

Issue 1- Indesign CS5 freezes when I try to place a file / photo linked to the Dropbox.
Issue 2 - Illustrator quits when I try to save files to the Dropbox. Some have links and some don't but it's the same problem.

Safari & FireFox freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive. This just started happening in the past couple of days. I haven't installed any software, or made any updates (that I can remember.) When the browser freezes I can't "force quit" them. I have to manually shut the computer down are restart it. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Safari and Firefox box.... it could be a problem with the hard drive itself, not your browsers.
Just to make sure, boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility to Verify and if necessary, Repair any errors Disk Utility reports.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*

The acsm file is not the book, it is a ticket to get the book. I sometimes get library books online, here is what I do.
1. Start ADE on the computer
2. Go to library website and find the book I want to download.
3. Click on the download link
4. In windows 7 a box opens asking whether I want to open( or run) or save the acsm file
5. Click open/run and ADE downloads the book into the "Library"
6. Transfer the book (epub file) to the reader.

Photoshop closes when I try to open a file

I have CS5 and Photoshop opens fine. However, when I try to open a file, photoshop closes immediately. I re-installed photoshop and the same thing happens. How do I fix this?
