Adobe Reader X install issues

Right now when i try to install Adobe reader X it begins to install the program and then stops part way and tells me I have a newer verision already installed... but I do not! I have one verison that will read basic PDF but I need it to read the more complicated documents that Adobe reader X uses that have embeded graphs and such in them that I have to edit. I am on a Macbook Pro with the latests update of Mac OS but still I am having issues and I am not sure how to fix it. I did the trouble shoot with fox fire safari and google chrome but still have issues. I can down load it but just not install it.
Thanks

You can try the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
However, no version of the free Reader has editing capabilities.

  • Adobe Reader 9 install issue

    Hi all
We're trying to create a custom installation of Adobe Reader 9 to deploy to 1800+ users. We have extracted the MSI and used the Adobe Customisation Wizard to generate a TRANSFORMS (MST) file. Our Document Management System (Interwoven) is hard-coded to look for AcroRD32.exe in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader" so we configured the MST to install Adobe Reader 9 to "C:\Program Files\Adobe", instead of the default installation path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader". We're just deploying the following command in a batch file for now:-
    msiexec /i \\server\share\AdobeReader9\AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS="\\server\share\AdobeReader9\AcroRead.mst" /qb! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 /l*vx C:\AdobeReader9.log
It appears to install to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader" as desired fine, we see many files/folders (56 items in total) but just as the MSI Installer finishes, it removes all files and leaves the 11 folders empty (we monitored this throughout the install by pressing F5 to refresh the screen). When we launch Adobe Reader for the 1st time only the MSI Installer starts up again and reinstates all files into "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader" and the 11 sub-folders, before it opens Adobe Reader. How odd! We have re-created the MST from scratch but no joy. We did noticed that when we create another MST with the default installation path it works fine, in that it copies all files and folders during the installation to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader" and does not remove them at the end of the installation. So perhaps it does not like the install path change for some reason??
Does anyone know why this is happening and what we can do to fix it please? Huh?
    Thanks
    Scott

I now understand the MSI install appears to "rollback" for some reason. I have checked the verbose logfile and I do see references to "rollback" and have look a few lines before each "rollback" entry but I am still not sure why it is happening, if it is at all. I analysed the logfile using WiLogUtl.exe but no errors founds or clues as to why the install appears to "rollback".
I see no facility to attach the logfile, so could someone point me in the right direction please?
    Thanks
    Scott

  • Adobe Reader 9 install issues

OK new to this forum so excuse me if I break protocol
I downlaoded the new adobe reader (version 9) and also clicked ok for the ADOBE DLM Active X
After download completed, I noticed the following programs added to my system
    Acrobat.com
    Adobe Reader 9
    Adobe Reader 9 installer
    Adobe Air
    getPlus for ADOBE
Obviously reader9 I wanted. But the acrobat.com and adobe air I do not want.I also got something called getPlus for Adobe which comes from NOS Microsystems so thats not part of adobe.
    Questions-
1 Did I pull down some malice?
    2. What is getPlus and who is NOS Microsystems and are they part or partner with ADOBE?
    3. I really only wantreader 9 so can I delete Acrobat.com;
Adobe Reader 9 installer; Adobe Air; and getPlus for ADOBE?
    4. If I delete these above items, will my reader 9 still be secure?

I downloaded (5 times) Adobe Reader 9. At 98.7% of the installation process, I get this error message.."The feature you are tying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
"Click OK again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "AdbRdr812_en_us.msi" in the box below.
I have no idea where this file may be, and fully expect Adobe to be able to find its own files!
Since attempting to download Reader 9. I have lost the ability to read .pdf files online, with the error message Can not launch Acrobat".
After Acrobat -says- it's installed itself, I get this error message...
"Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Reader 9 cannot be removed.
    Contact your technical support group."
I am my only technical support group, and really really don't care for this rigamarole, losing "features" I had.
    What is going on?

  • Can't get adobe reader to install on my new laptop with windows 8

I can't get adobe reader to install onto my new laptop with windows 8. Basically what happens is that I start the download from the adobe screen by clicking the yellow download button, then I click run (I've also tried save and run), then I allow the program to make changes to my hard drive, and then finally a blank grey box appears in the in the middle of the screen, titled "adobe reader installer". After this box appears nothing else happens. I've let it sit for at least 30 minutes and still nothing. I've also disabled my pop up blocker, and set the security settings to default as suggested in other posts. Unfortunately this is the only pdf program that works for the site we have to use to write contracts, so I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

    Try installing from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise

  • How do i install adobe reader without installing products from google.

i dont like google, i dont like a bunch of worthless taskbars crowding my browser. so how do i install adobe reader without installing google products when you dont even give me the chance to say i dont want them?
It is unethical to force onto people products of any nature that they do not want. i do not want google products so by your installation for adobe reader automatically installing google products without my consent is unethical.

I don't understand the "forcing" part; the bundled software is clearly optional, and can be unchecked before the download.
Or using the download link that Michael provided earlier (which is posted at least a dozen times every day in this forum).

You can extract pages with Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.

    Hi,
To check the version of Adobe Reader on your iPhone/iPad
Go to your iOS home screen.
    Tap Settings.
Scroll down to the bottom to find Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
    Check the version number.
    Hope this helps.

Question:  I bought a 5 yr old Mac G5 OSx 10.4.11, 2 GHz intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB 667 MHz DDR1 SDRAM memory.  It works fine but I can't get Thunderbird, Flash Player or Adobe reader to install -- it shows up on desktop as download but not App folder. Why?

The downloads are probably .dmg files (disk images).  You would open the disk image (double-click it) to find the application or an installer.  If it's the application itself, you then drag the application to your Applications folder to "install" it.  If it's an installer, double-click the installer to run the installer that installs the application.
NOTE:  If you iMac is Intel, it's not a PPC G5.

  • Adobe Reader XI installed but "Not Found"

I have Adobe Reader XI installed and apparently running normally. Unfortunately the UK's Parcelforce web-site says it can't find it.
I get the message " Adobe Acrobat NOT found. You must have Adobe Reader (5 or better) with the browser plugin properly working"
Can anyone help me please? How can I tell if "the browser plugin is properly working" ?

In IE11 use Tools | Manage Add-ons, then show All Add-ons.  Do you see the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, and is it enabled?

  • Adobe Reader 9 - access issue

I have the latest Reader: but I find I cannot access PDF documents from saved emails & directly from My Documents - I get the message 'H:\programme files\Adobe\Reader9.0\Eula.exe Windows cannot access the specified path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item' I am computer administrator.
    I have Windows SP3
I use ZoneAlarm Pro & anti-virus (just in case this might be relevant)
Can anyone assist with an explanation & solution?
    Regards

re Adobe Reader 9 access issue, 20 Dec
It appears this is not an Adobe Reader issue at all. I have had the same trouble downloading an update to an unrelated programme.
The solution appears to be in ZoneAlarm Pro - I have set the trust level and access permissions for Internet Explorer to 'super trusted' and 'allow' (programme control - programmes), and this seems to have worked.
Other forums point the finger at restrictions in IE7 Enhanced Security feature, and to similar restrictions in some anti-virus/anti spyware programmes. Also, some .exe files for download come automatically blocked, & need unblocking (right-click the .exe, choose properties, then general tab, where there is an 'unblock' button at the bottom.

  • Checking if Adobe Reader is installed

    Hi,
We are dynamically creating PDF pages and having errors if
    Adobe Reader is
not installed on the computer. What is the best way to handle
    this?
Is there a way to check whether Adobe Reader is installed or
    not before
    creating the PDF page?
    Please let me know.
    YC

Well, the page opens a new window with the PDF format, but if
    there is no
Adobe Reader installed, it's trying to download the original
    "cfm" page
    instead of the "pdf."
