Adobe Reader X - list Domain Printers unsortet

Dear All,
we use the newest version of adobe reader x (10.0.1) and aproximate 40 printers in our domain. When a like to print from adobe reader and the "choose printer" screen comes up all domain printers are unsortet. Thats very terrible. Is there any possibility to fix that? Thanks in advance.
P.S.
In the v9er versions all was fine and the printers are sortet by name.
Best Regards
Matthias

Could you please try turning off reader X protected mode and check if you continue to see the problem?
You could turn off protected mode using following steps:
1. Launch Reader X and select Edit->Preferences...
2. Select General from left navigation
3. Under application startup uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at Startup"
Note: You should switch "ON" protected mode after verifying the problem. Purpose of Reader X Protected Mode is to keep your system safe from PDF based exploits and keeping protected mode OFF will leave your system vulnerable.

  • Adobe reader X not enumerating printers Citrix Xenapp 6 Windows 2008R2 environment

    Version 10.0 of the reader
All other citrix apps (Office 2010 mostly) show printers but the reader will only show the Default printer. This is set by the user in IE as the first action taken after logging in to citrix.
If user has a PC and they set the default as one of the printers installed local to the PC, THAT is the one that shows up in reader. If the user is on a thin client and sets a session printer as the default IT shows up in the reader.
All of this seems fine, the users have a printer etc... but the issue is that users have many printers and float and the default they set in the morning is not whenree they may need to print later.
One thing that grabs me is that not even locally mapped direct printers on each citrix server do not show in reader. I have about 20 on each server wide open security wise and users cannot access then in the reader, they can in other apps.
I have loaded later versions of the reader with the same results. I believe 10.1.4 was the latest I tried.
Looking for somewhere to concentrate as we use reader for a ton of operations and it is very frustrating.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!

    Hi,
    did you solve this problem?
    I´ve got a similar behaviour ( AR X and AR XI) on a 2008R2 with XenApp 6.0.
If you click on an PDF in a Lotus Notes document, the pdf is opened in AR. But if you want to print it from AR, there are no printers to select except XPS Printer. In Lotrus Notes printers can be selected at this moment. Office workes fine too.
After saving the document to disk, it can be opened by AR and priters can be selected.
This reported behaviour is not constant. It seems to be more often in slower attached environments.
    Thanks Thomas

  • Adobe Reader does not see all network printers

    Hi,
Any help on below would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you
    Issue:
When printing from Adobe Reader not all network printers appear in the list of printers
All other applications (notepad, word, excel, powerpoint) see all printers and are able to print
    Tried:
Drivers: Xerox model specific drivers, universal drivers, global print drivers
    Print Processors: Xerox, winprint
    Remapped / added printers
    Uninstalled/installed printers to print servers
Print servers: Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012

I also have this problem that Adobe Reader will not print, but this only occurred for me after installation of MS Office 2010.
The proposed solution of changing default printers does not work for me!
Does anybody have a real explanation as to what causes this problem and a real solution for it?
I have already tried re-installing Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and this had no effect. I am using Windows XP with SP3.
    thanks for any help ....

  • What do I do if Adobe Reader is not in Open In list as an app on iPad?

What I do if Adobe Reader is not in Open In list as an app on iPad?

    Hi,
The Open-In menu on iPad lists a maximum of ten apps. You also need to scroll down the list to see some of the listed apps.
In case Adobe Reader does not show up in the menu, you may choose to delete some of the other apps which may result in Adobe Reader being listed in the Open In menu.
Please let us know if this solves your issue.
    Thanks,

  • On Win7 with Acrobat 10.1.3.23 List of Printers not in Alphabetical Order

We are moving from Windows XP to a new Windows 7 load at work and one of the things we have discovered in testing is that the list of 10-20 printers everyone has access to print to, is not in any order what so ever.  It does focus on the Default Printer first and places that at the top of the list but all the other printer objects are all mixed up.  Is this bug with this version of Acrobat and/or is their a reg. hack that can be implimented to fix this?
Here is a sample of what I see when I go to print and want to print to somewhere else other than my default printer:
Thanks ahead of time for any assistance on this issue.
    Tiernan

Adobe is displaying the list in the order that the printers were installed on that machine.  It must be a glitch with the way Adobe displays the list of printers.  You could fix it by uninstalling all the printers (locally) and then re-installing in alphabetical order..

  • How do I move a pdf file from my download area into adobe reader

How do I move a pdf file from my download area into adobe reader

    Hi!
Adobe Reader automatically lists all the PDFs on your device in it's file browser. You can toggle between the "All PDFs" view and "Folder View" in the "Documents" tab of the file browser.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader cannot open pdf created by Firefox; "file is damaged"

Firefox 4.0.1 on Mac Pro Intel using OS 10.5.8 will allow you to save a web page as pdf, using "Print" then "Save as PDF". If you do this you will save a file. If you attempt to open that file with Adobe Reader you get an error message that the file is damaged. Safari does not have this problem. Microsoft Explorer does not have this problem. It is unlikely that this is an OS problem. Adobe Reader is listed as the app to open pdf files. Is there a fix?

    1. I assume you have some PDF documents you have been keeping a long time. Look at their modification date. Is it what you'd expect (years ago) or is it all the same, recent?
    2. Has a TXT file appeared in the same folder as the PDFs?

  • Uninstall corrupt Adobe reader 9

When I open "all programs" in my Win XP I see Adobe reader 9 listed. However, when I click on it I get an error message that the path is not valid. I would like to uninstall and reinstall the reader or else another reader that will open pdf files for me. When I attempt to uninstall it I also get a similar error message regarding an unvalid path.  Can some one help me find a utility some place that would clean my system and install a working pdf reader for me? I dont use it often but when I need it I would like to have a viable reader. Thank you.
    Macamatoadobe
P.S. My laptop has Win XP and Adobe reader 8. It works just fine. I have no idea how I acquired Adobe reader 9. on the desktop. If I knew how it got there I would make sure it doesnt happen again.

Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the corrupted Reader, then install afresh.

  • Cannot complete Adobe Reader..."a network error"?

My Adobe Reader stopped working one day, so I removed everything Adobe from my computer so I can re-download everything. I'm using windows xp. I cannot download the program successfully now because when the download reaches 79% a message pops up saying: "Download interrupted. A network error occured".
    Please help, Thank you!

    Kelly,
Try using "WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY" before downloading Adobe Reader 8.1.2
On your Browser type in "WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY"
Look For "support,microsoft.com" "DESCRIPTION OF WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY"-----Follow instructions and "remove" any Adobe Reader in list. Then download updated Reader.

  • Adobe Reader X 10.1.3 printer list is incorrect

My employer is running Adobe Reader X 10.1.3 on Windows 7 x64, all up to date.  For some reason when he opens his printers list in Reader X to print there is a printer there that does not exist.  He cannot print to this printer.  If you look in Windows 7 printers it isn't there.
    Here's what it looks like:
Samsung CLP-510 Printer (the one that isn't there)
Samsung CLP-510 Series (the one that is there, connected via USB)
Ricoh Aficio MP C3502 PCL 6
His default printer is the second one, the "series", but the printer that isn't even there shows up first on the list.  Most people would simply select the second one and get on with life, but this bothers my employer to the point of distraction.
How can I resolve this issue?

Nothing happens if he tries to print to the first printer in the list.  There's only a 64-bit version of the driver installed.  It is pulling this information from someplace other than the Printers list, because there are only two printers in that list.  Do we know "where" it is pulling it from?  Is it the registry, or some other spot?  If I can track down the area it's pulling it from I can look in there and see if there is some phantom version hanging around.
Any idea why the default Windows printer isn't the default printer that Adobe is using?

  • How to delete file names from Adobe Reader list

How can I delete file names from the Adobe Reader list?  I have deleted the file & it's empty, but deleted file names remain in my list & it's very annoying.  I can't seem to find an option anywhere to delete the file names.

Thanks for the answer, I will try this & post my results with this method.  I have set the amount to zero, & it seems if I want to put back valid files into my list I first need to find them in another file in my pc, such as documents, open them in Adobe Reader, & then then they will reappear in the Adobe Reader list.  Is this correct?  Thank you!
This seems to be the case, you need to restore each file you want in your list one by one by accessing them elsewhere on your pc, & then you must open them with Adobe Reader to have files reappear in your Adobe Reader list.  However, this seems to be a tedious process if you only want to delete one obsolete file from your list by first emptying the list & rebuilding it file by file.  It works, but I'm wondering if there is a more sensible & efficient way to do this?

    Hi,
I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.
Adobe Cleaner Tool:- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs.
Latest version of Adobe Reader:- http://get.adobe.com/reader/
If you still experience the same issue, please share the following information:-

  • Search Server 2010 Express: Open a PDF document from list of search results invokes adobe reader client application with error

    Hi community,
I set up search server 2010 express on a windows 2008 r2 server.
The Adobe PDF iFilter 9 64 bit is installed and search is correctly configured to find PDF-files.
When doing a search and clicking on a link of the result page, the PDF is not opened in the browser, instead the adobe reader XI client application (11.0.04) is invoked and an error raised like "could not open document .. check syntax of url..."
Right click on a link to open in new tab works fine. And PDF-Files from other arbitrary Internet Sites opens in browser correctly. Moreover when configure Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 as default application on the client it also open in Browser correctly.
I noticed googling the web there are several challenges when dealing with PDF-files in sharepoint. The following settings are made so far:
    1. In IE: Add-On to open PDF in Browser is enabled for all sites.
    2. Client Integration is enabled
    3. The OpenControl attribute in the DOCICON.xml is left empty OpenControl="" for the pdf entry.
    4. The Browser File Handling is set to "Permissive".
Please feel free to ask for more information if needed.
I appreciate any help on this. I don't know what to do further.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.
Before responding to your points I want to give a little more context:
We have an intranet based on pure html and a little aspx containing many of those pdf- files. By clicking on the links in the intranet the files open correctly in browser handled by the adobe plugin. Now we set up this search server crawling the file system
accessed through a share to the root folder of the intranet. In the search server settings a host mapping rule is applied to replace the file://[share] with http://[intranet host+domain+port] to access files over http.
And now to answer your question. The resulting urls are the same, copying the link from intranet and copying the link from the search result (except some case issues).
The event viewer not seem to show any errors on this, though I'm not very familiar using it.
If any further information are from interest and any ideas come to your mind - please let me know.
    Thanks.
